Sound Design on the Boss RC505-MK2: "Basic Wave Shapes"

- Hello everyone!
This video is something that, at least in terms of finding effect combos on the loop station, has been in the works for quite a while. In this video I talk about some basic audio wave shapes. Included are the sine, triangle, rectangle, and saw waves. I explain what they are, show examples and how to create them on the loop station. If you're not interested in the theory behind the wave forms, just skip the "Signal Theory" time stamps.
Hope you enjoy!

Great tutorial! I love the theory behind this. I'd like to see more of those to know how to recreate produced stuff. Would even pay for that in this quality ❤
Thanks for the kind message!
I will release more sound design videos in the future. I'm by no means an expert though, I'm still learning stuff myself. My channel is a bit too small for memberships as of now, but I might have plans for it 🤔
This is actually mental, well done, seriously
Thanks :)
Keep these coming! These videos are very valuable
thank you, amazing tutorial keep doing it man youre great
Really appreciate these videos dude!
Glad to hear it :)
Great information 👍🔥😎
Nice bro!
Thanks for the video. Well done, you explained the topics precisely and with practical demonstrations. I hope to see more sound design videos in the future. Keep up the good work. 👏
Thanks for the kind words :)
thank you!
Interesting! Never thought about trying to create the raw waveforms on just the looper. You should get into synthesis if you haven't already
It's actually amazing what you can do with just the loop station on its own. I wanted to create some covers and since I don't have extra devices, I tried to figure these wave forms out on the loop station. I definitely experimented a bit with synthesis, lots more to learn though :)
continue uploading some tutorial, you are doing so well
Next tutorial will be online Friday probably 🤫
can u somehow make for example sine and saw go together in one bank effect without putting it one at a time on seperate track??
If I understand you correctly, that should be pretty simple, because the saw wave is basically a sine wave with a Synth effect on top. So you could use: GNR Delay, LPF, Synth, Pitch Bend and depending on if you need Sine or Saw either turn the Synth effect on or off.
@@ZharynMusic AHHH YESS EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT i understand now thank u very much!!
Nice tutorials! How do you change the colour of the FX and Track buttons?
Thanks! You have to go to "CTL FUNC" in the main menu, then "PLAY" and then select the track of choice. Now turn the "FUNC" knob all the way to the right until it shows "LED". Once that's done you can go 1 page to the right to adjust the colors (you switch between min/max if you press the button). I highly recommend checking out this video: ua-cam.com/video/nDbh7WgnqY8/v-deo.html by Mr. Esuoh for more details.
@@ZharynMusic Thank you!
Nice video!! What effects are u using at 12:43
Thanks! I showed the effects in the 20 seconds before your time stamp: Osc-Bot: Square with note C2, balance 100; LPF: rate and depth 0, resonance 60, cutoff 13; Lo-Fi: bit depth 4, sample rate Off, balance 100
14:48 i what was the input and output fx for this sound ? thank you
Input FX was the saw wave (GNR delay, LPF, Synth with the settings that I showed in the video) and a Pitch Bend 100 at +3 Octaves. Then I bounced it with a LPF (everything 0, except for cutoff which was 90) and Chorus with Rate 40, Depth 60. The last 4 Track FX were ones that I used in 1 of my songs: Transpose Sequencer, Step Slicer Sequencer, Reverb and Panning Delay. The first 6 effects are the most important ones though. I also recommend turning down the volume, Pitch Bended saw waves are very loud.
@@ZharynMusic much love to u ma mehn
there's no sine wave option in osc bot, how did your create a sine wave in loopstation?
I'm not quite sure what you mean, I explain how the sine wave is created on the loop station at 5:22
It would be very helpful if you could specify all the fx settings that you are using a bit slower though, for us beginners
Keeping the videos at a reasonable length and talking about everything important is a challenge for me atm. Good feedback though, I'll work on it 👍
You can slow speed of video down
what are the additional effect you use in Sine wave?
You'll have to be more specific 😅 (time stamp,...)
@@ZharynMusic the one at 4:26 and 4:40, really cool sound design, if u could drop the additional effect it would help me so much !! thx u for ur time :)
@@keek4413 Both of these textures are made in a similar fashion. The trick is creating 2 sine wave that are a few octaves (2 for example) apart. Then I put a Pre-Amp on it (you can experiment with different settings here) and a Step Slicer to "chop" it a bit. In the case of 4:26 I also added a HPF with high resonance at a low cutoff and for 4:40 it was a simple Chorus instead. I also recommend that you search for "How to DnB" or something like this on UA-cam and try to imitate their effects 😉
@@ZharynMusic thanks you! What Pre-Amp type are you using, I can't seem to find the correct combos on my loop, it would really help me out x(
Try either JC-120 or Combo Crunch (both with high gain). They sound different but both cool imo 👍
Nice bro, keep making these videos. What effects did you use for the bad guy ? ua-cam.com/video/bIELRVQdyIs/v-deo.html
To do this, simply create the sine wave like I showed in the video and Pitch Bend it to +4Oct, 68 Bend. If you want to make it cleaner, put a BPF with cutoff 60 on top of it. Then add the transpose sequencers (you'll need 3 in total) to get the melody and put a reverb on it. Hope this helps!
