5 simple effects for starting out on the Boss RC505-MK2 and how to use them
Hello everyone!
In this tutorial, I go over some of the simpler but still powerful effects on the MK2. This tutorial is for beginners, so if you're already pretty experienced, this video will probably not help you too much.
I'm not sure if I will continue making videos for beginners, as I feel like it's not really the identity of this channel, but if it helps some of you, than it may be worth continuing.
Enjoy!

Sound Design on the Boss RC505-MK2: "Flanger"
Hello everone! Finally, another video. It felt like I was kind of losing my motivation for doing stuff on the MK2 at all, so I took a bit of a break. Also, this video, as you can see from the video length, is a bit longer than the others, so making it took way longer than expected. But enough with the excuses, the video is now here. I tried to go as in-depth as possible with explaining the Flan...

Hello everyone! This is part 2 of my settings tutorial. In this one I talk about settings that are a bit more advanced. Most likely you won't always have to make use of each of these settings, but maybe it helps you in a couple of scenarios, then the video will have been worth it. Hope you enjoy! Settings on the Boss RC505-MK2 #1: "Basic Settings"
Hello everyone! Finally I was able to do another tutorial video... I decided to mix it up a bit and go through a lot of different settings of the MK2. I chose these in particular since they seemed to be more helpful than others. This is only part 1 of 2 and really focusses on settings that are useful to beginners. Sound Design on the Boss RC505-MK2: "Basic Wave Shapes"
Hello everyone! This video is something that, at least in terms of finding effect combos on the loop station, has been in the works for quite a while. In this video I talk about some basic audio wave shapes. Included are the sine, triangle, rectangle, and saw waves. I explain what they are, show examples and how to create them on the loop station. If you're not interested in the theory behind t...
Bounce on the Boss RC505-MK2 #3: "Silent-Bouncing" 🤫
Hello everyone! This is the 3rd and final part of my Bounce tutorial video series. This video covers a technique called Silent-Bouncing, which allows you to bounce your tracks without revealing them to the listener. I also explain how you can mute your microphone on specific tracks, so that the track only recieves the bounce and not your microphone input. Stay tuned until the end to see these t...
Bounce on the Boss RC505-MK2 #2: "Replace-Bouncing"
Hello everyone! Today I present you part 2 of my Bounce tutorial video series. First, I explain the Dub Modes and the differences between Replace1 and Replace2. Then, I show you how to use them together with Bounce to create melodies and drum patterns very efficiently. This video is quite long, but I think it's better like this, so that you have a complete overview of Replace and how to use it ...

Zharyn - Spring to Life (Boss RC-505 MKII Live Looping)
This is not a GBB wildcard. Hello everyone! This is my first original track, hope you enjoy. Everything that you hear is done live, using the voice only. A lot of effects and signal processing from the machine convert the input sounds into what you hear. For those that are familiar with the MK2: There was no Osc-Bot and no Pre-Amp used. My goal was to make the sounds as "non-MK2y" and as full a...
Please Help me. I have a Circuit Tracks Connected to the RC 505. It's connected via Inst.1. Can I somehow bypass the loop recording for the Circuit tracks? Since it is its own sequencer. Basically I'm looking for a Line In function that doesn't get recorded by the 505. I just want the sound to go through
I don't work too much with extra instruments, but this should be possible: Go to Loop -> TRK1 -> last page. There you can find switches for what inputs you want to have recorded. So in your case, switching one of the two instrument inputs to off (and repeating this for all 5 tracks) should do the trick. Feel free to let me know if this helps or not
Extremely cool! 🙌
You are really helpful, you need to make more videos of effects like this. Thank you so much
Tipp for the Radio: Sometimes it is really good for gran. Basses. It kinda boostes the lows and adds a bit of texture. (Lofi 1, Level 100)
That's cool. In general, Radio is pretty useful for sound designing. Maybe I'll do a video on that in future 🤔
@@ZharynMusic this would be cool. Maybe I should try a few thing with it, would be interesting what I can find out🤔 Can I find you on Instagram?
@@Crucis-Beatbox Not really, I only got a private one so far, will probably create one for music stuff in the near future. In the meantime, you can message me here on UA-cam or on Discord. I'm always interested in sound design stuff 👍
I recently bought my loopstation, and your videos helped me a lot 🥂. Can you also explain every basic things like the Use of track button , mid low high gain, rate ( can’t understand any symbols)…
Glad to help, hope you're having fun with your loopstation! Pressing the track buttons gets you into the loop menu for the corresponding track, but you can also re-assign their function to something else (see ua-cam.com/video/PoeZUvoI2b0/v-deo.htmlsi=OClpu9Z_D89BimGD for more details). In terms of rate and gain, it kinda depends on the effect, but gain usually adjusts volume and rate usually adjusts the speed of an effect/sequencer
good tutorial as always!! I have a question. How did you change the color of your channels differently?
like the track and fx buttons? ctl func, scroll to the right to "LED" and go right a page
Thanks! Baldock beat me to it, so hopefully that already helped. In case you need it in video form, watch this: ua-cam.com/video/PoeZUvoI2b0/v-deo.htmlsi=OClpu9Z_D89BimGD
Thank you, bro🤙🔥🎼☝️
Love your channel !
Finally a new tutorial. Always very excited! All the best <3
Appreciate it, thanks for watching as always :)
Your videos are very interesting! My question is, what update do you have on your MK2? Because some things you show, I don't have on mine and I think it depends on the firmware. The first LOOPstation I had stopped working after I updated it, so now I don't update it anymore.
Thanks! I currently have version 1.30 installed. I know that a few things, like changing the colour of the recording buttons (from my other Settings video), got added fairly recently. As for the settings of this video I'm not sure, that probably depends on what version you have 🤔
🎵Look at me now 🎵
you should post all basic shapes in short so it's easy to come back to !
That is the plan :) It might take a while to release them all though...
Good 👍
Broken sound fr
Yup
I will watch every video of yours bro until I get a loopstation
Haha nice, appreciate it 👍
Wow that’s a lot of information thank you so much !!!!!
Glad you like it!
warum leuchttest Orange?
you should end your videos with music you made bro, as an outro!
Yep, I tried to do that for a while, but then I ran out of music 😂 I'm just too slow at making new music, but maybe 1 song that I can always use for the outro would be nice 🤔
This was really sick ! MORE !🙌
Thanks :) More is on the way...
Bro this is sick
Thanks!
MKI aviavle?
Are you german?❤ good tuto btw
Thanks! Yes I am
can you say the tfx you used for that melody ❤❤
I don't have it saved, but from what I remember it was: Transpose sequencer for the melody, Distortion OD with high dist, Step Slicer sequencer to make the notes more distinct, Reverb with high E-level for the vibe. Not sure about the exact sequencer values 😅
@@ZharynMusic thank you!
Bounce Is one of my Fav on MKII. Epic tutorial, thanks. 🔥👍🙏
Great tutorials man! Keep them coming! One question. Can you record an instrumental beat from the computer to a track using the USB audio routing? Thanks!
Thanks! As long as there's any audio playing on your PC, you can get it to the loop station with "Loop In". It even records stuff like the sound that plays when you change your PC volume.
Thank you for your tutorial! from JP
Glad this was helpful for you :)
I know how a flanger works, but had no idea you could do this on a loop station, this is really imaginative! PS. Creating tones using short delays and high feedback is called Karplus-Strong synthesis. If you've ever looked at any Eurorack modular stuff, there's a famous module called Rings, which does exactly this, it's a tuned resonator. I make stuff like this from scratch using modular software called VCV Rack, which is great for experimental effects but it's nice to see other people doing something different too. 👍
Thanks! I love sound designing creatively. I don't have too much experience with this kind of synthesis outside of the loop station, but the module you mentioned sounds interesting, I'll look into it 👍
can u somehow make for example sine and saw go together in one bank effect without putting it one at a time on seperate track??
If I understand you correctly, that should be pretty simple, because the saw wave is basically a sine wave with a Synth effect on top. So you could use: GNR Delay, LPF, Synth, Pitch Bend and depending on if you need Sine or Saw either turn the Synth effect on or off.
@@ZharynMusic AHHH YESS EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT i understand now thank u very much!!
Exactly what any mk2 user needs. Everyone can learn something from this, I think I can speak for everyone when I say we appreciate it tons. keep going with these vids :)
Glad to hear it 💪
thanks again! really usefull information. That "organ 2" sounds like a bagpipe. i will use it in some songs for sure. A big hug from spain :)
It does sound like a bagpipe, you're right! Glad you found this helpful :)
Maaaaaan, sure keep going with these type of tutorials. So useful. Thank you so much for your effort, and yes don't forget to do what you enjoy so you don't lose motivation. I'm looking forward for your cover song. Big up! 👏👏👏
Thank you for watching! Appreciate this kind of comment :)
This was really helpful! Thank you for sharing this stuff with us! I am a really big fan of your channel! Looking forward for the next tutorials and also for your music! Keep it up. All the best from Vienna :)
Thanks, that means a lot! Let's see what kind of video is next 🤔
this guy is so educated in the art of sound design holy crap
Haha thanks man
BRO YOU ARE A GENIUS
Boom💥👍
❤
I hope you continue these types of videos. Thank you!
So Glad you uploaded the sound design tutorial! It would be awesome if you could keep posting more sound design tutorials for beginners using the MK2, like how to create different bass sounds and other effects... etc. 🔥🔥
Already answered this under the poll, I will definitely keep it in mind. There are probably other channels that do beginner stuff better than I, I want to mostly make videos on more advanced stuff. However, if I get around to it, I'll do it 👍
@@ZharynMusic yess please keep on making advanced stuff!!
@@athaya1588 Of course :)
Still can't quite understand how bouncing works. Was trying, it was on, but nothing was happening.
Can you double-check if all 3 bounce settings are really activated? Maybe try activating everything there is first (so 1. "Bounce Sw" up in Loop-Rec, 2. All "Bounce Track" switches up in Loop-Rec, 3. "Bounce In" activated in each Loop-Track menu). If it still doesn't work then, let me know
'Promo SM' 😡

Great information 👍🔥😎
❤🎉
This is awsome! I wish I had been on this stream!
very helpful. i am old and interested. ive owned and sold the Mark 1 version to a good friend. Purchased the Actition 8 midi controller, to launch track recording, and start and stop features offered in the loopstations Assign settings
Glad this helps :) I never owned the MK1 myself, but the MK2 offers quite a lot more technical possibilities from what I've heard/seen
This is gold
you are uploading good tutorials! keep it up :) 1:40 this btw is because mk2 has max 300 bpm and if you e.g. double speed 170 bpm it goes above thats why it doesnt work
Thanks! Makes sense, didn't think about this 😅
