So yeah, this was an even greater production hell than the last video. Hard to believe I even finished it. I know it's a significant departure in tone from the last one, but I wanted to explore something a bit different, next video I do in this style will be straight-forward horror shit. Also, none of the SCP's featured here are based on anything from the wiki, any resemblance is purely coincidental.
Honestly not a fan of the grainy footage. While it helped to hide the fact that this was produced in a game engine, it took away a lot of the detail that would make this type of thing immersive and believable imo. Also there were scenes where it negatively impacted my ability to tell exactly what was going on, which may be intentional, but as a viewer it mostly left me frustrated as I'm looking at an undetailed video of..*something*. A good example is in the combat scenes, where it's hard to tell exactly what's happening, who's dying, who's fighting who, etc. But otherwise, I love the video and thank you for the content.

It helps with immersion by covering up the fact that it's created in a game engine, but removes from it for the same reason by removing the details. Like, because of the removal of details, and as a developer, I instantly start focusing on the animations for certain tasks like opening doors, reloading, hiding behind cover, and that, to me, breaks immersion. I wouldn't be focusing on that if I had other details to focus on instead, but those are removed with the grainy footage. I just can't stop focusing on how perfect the reloads always are, or how the people never look at their feet when they step over obstacles, etc. Like, they walk over parking curbs/bumpers without even looking at where they step and it seems robotic.
How long did this project take? And what game engine do you use? I also love the grainy footage, it adds an element of confusion, which is exactly what you would expect from the SCP foundation; they never fully explain something.

I served 6 years in the Army. Eating MRE's was always a set of luck with the sweets. Each MRE comes with some sort of candy. arma 3 mod? i never played the game but ive seen a lot of vids of it and i know there are a shit ton of mods for it already. maybe an SCP MTF mod for arma 3 isnt such a bad idea
@@Xx32123 Getting the SCPs to work would be the hard part I think. I play it a lot and there are almost no mods with alternate models, let alone all the crazy effects SCPs can have. The only one that I can think of is the Halo mod, but the Covenant part hasn't been updated for.. I think 2 years now?

They don't answer to any government, their operatives are fully exempt from the eyes of the laws. their military force ( if they use weaponized SCP equipment ) and personel count is larger than ANY other factions, and they have basic support from many world powers all across the world. By all means, if O5 wanted world domination, it would have been a short lived experience. What the foundation do is try to learn from anomalies, to try implement a use out of them if it's possible, destroy what they deemed too dangerous to keep, and keep everything else in isolation, without the public knowledge in fear of widespread panic and fear ( which looking at how people are reacting to COVID 19, i think they are dead on the money ). The only thing I have against them is there constantly revolving moral compass. They let deadly, hostile anomalies alive simply because it's inhumane to kill them yet they use D class in horribly deadly ways to learn from the anomalies. They consider killing an innocent child immoral ( daughter of the scarlet king ) yet human lives matter little to them. They are a bunch of self ruling hypocrites who admittedly are competent at times, unlike the other Org who are just incompetent.

Can we talk about how *good* the voice acting is, in this. There's not a bad performance, with Fox, Kyoun and Yardley Gareth (the captured GOC dude) putting in excellent work. Kudos on some great direction, Evan. I'd love to hear a behind the scenes about this, some day.

The Ominous Whistler has to be the best part of this whole thing. Even more than the other anomalies, it represents the uncanny vibe that the Foundation at its best is all about -- I look at that thing and I can't figure out whether it could even hurt me at all, but _I don't want to go anywhere near it._ It just doesn't fit into the world we know, and anyone who sees it is likely to spend the rest of their life fruitlessly wondering what the hell it was.

First time clicking on one of these SCP short films, I keep my expectations admittedly low because from what I had sampled, they're never particularly great and lack what I seek in reading stuff on the Wiki. The initial few minutes had me rocky with the conversation with the general, but the rest kept me incredibly engaged. This plays out exactly how incident reports on mainlist entries do: the banter, a lone agent in a strange and hostile environment, the racking drama and tension. Reading it is one thing but watching it in motion with this level of execution is beyond fantastic. I also appreciate the creative liberty of a perspective of what the Foundation has to do to maintain normalcy when national governments don't feel like being nice. I'm assuming the line in the description about Detachment One's existence being controversial is a kind of preemptive counter to people who don't subscribe this to their own headcanon. It's a fresh take that raises questions about the Foundation's actions toward its mission goal. Absolutely stellar content, please keep up the good work!
Your team's got a knack for suspenseful horror. "Why put the monster around every corner when you can condition the audience to do that for you?" You had very convincing human elements (no small part due to the skill of the cast), perfect grasp of theme and setting, and a homogenous balance of suspense, action, and sci-fi elements. Well done. those cameras have to work non stop for about 24 hours without running out of battery and memory, and also send live feed through secure channels, and cameras don't compress video on the spot, so low quality is understandable
probably because they expect most of them to die and lose the equipment so they give them cheap cameras and night visions so they don't waste the money on expensive ones
You want to record things for as long as possible, so you have to sacrifice quality for length. A memory card can’t keep even a day of 1080p footage, let alone a week-long operation.
High res video takes a lot of power. Their gear is heavy enough without carrying a car battery around. The added weight could be the difference between life or death when it comes to mobility. Tactical gear is made as light as possible and its a lot more expensive than normal guns and gear... Not really too necessary to record everything in HD, if there are documents they need to take a picture of or something they do carry around a high res cam but for general use low quality is fine. I agree though that the video quality was pretty bad and didnt need to be that immersive. Looks like they threw a pixelated filter on after everything was done to make it look like a headcam...
The Boxhead guy with the music was by far the creepiest part of this. Such nonchalance and the idea that he's invulnerable too was freaky. Great story very well told, animated and acted. Fantastic!

Yeah, but they're mot hard-debriefed on every single thing and they go through these kinds of training over an dover again, to force them to always maintain a call mannerism whenever they encounter Anomalies and Reality Shifting Entities. They also have alot of gadgets that allow the m to subdue any kind of Entity, the Scranton Reality Anchor. in Log Files uncovered in SCP 1730 'S OPERATION, SRA already had their format reduced considerably to a portable flare-like device, those things used to be enormous machines,a nd nowadays you have them in all sizes for those MTF Operation Squadrons. BUt, I understand that most of Evan royalty's videos it always shows those MTF units carrying less and less of their default fun gadgetry, appealing towards the ''realism'' and just nerfing the whole MTF considerably. Afterall, in the ''canon written lore'' documents from SCP Wiki, the MTF units are always portrayed as invincible, even though most of the log file of their operations include a large amount of deaths of MTF Soldiers whenever they have to deal with monstrous creatures that can go invisible or are ten times their size. But dealing with reality benders is super easy for them~!
I obviously realise the budget on these series aren't big by any means, but mad kudos to the voice actors. It is so good. Quality does drop once you notice it's all in GTA V, but the work done within that game (+ mods) is absolutely stellar. Hoping for more!

i think its a scp thats not in our dimension, it has a soundbox on its head playing music, which probably can get really loud and kill anyone, by grabbing the target and blasting them with music, that kills em. They then get somehow eaten.
The SCP at 25:00 was so interesting. I really want OP to write up a page for it. Putting in something that seems so non-threatening was a stroke of genius, it really has that SCP feel.

After SCP: First Contact, I just had to watch the premiere livestream. So glad I did! Minor spoilers below. As cool as that was, I feel a little left out. The action scenes were amazing, the voice actors did great, and the atmosphere was fantastic! However, I feel like this is more of a build up for a much bigger plot like, like whatever was thrown into the other dimension escaping back out. Plot wasn’t quite what I expected, most likely because I was expecting to see more SCPs and got great politics and world building instead. Still, this is massively enjoyable nonetheless. Amazing movie and I can’t wait for more!

I don't know why but I REALLY like this. Just the act of moving in quiet as a squad. Scouting the area mixed in with sensible and funny dialog. silently moving around with different camera angles and ambience. idk just really satisfying.
Again, I love how professional the soldiers are portrayed in this and the previous production. They're not jar-heads that lose their cool the instant things go south; they know what they're doing, they've got contingencies in place in case someone gets lost/killed, and even when cut off from the rest of the squad by an inter-dimensional rift they keep their heads level and look for a way back home. That being said, the headcams were a lot less tolerable than the previous fixed cameras of the last video. I know that there's good logical reasoning as to why this had to be, but it did make the video hard to watch at times. The head-bobbing really got to me.
"Maybe the real anomaly is Eastern Europe" You know, nobody is sure where Slavs came from, but it's likely that we're from somewhere around Pripyat. Which means... We're all anomalous.

They consider killing an innocent child immoral ( daughter of the scarlet king ) yet human lives matter little to them. They are a bunch of self ruling hypocrites who admittedly are competent at times, unlike the other Org who are just incompetent.

First time clicking on one of these SCP short films, I keep my expectations admittedly low because from what I had sampled, they're never particularly great and lack what I seek in reading stuff on the Wiki. The initial few minutes had me rocky with the conversation with the general, but the rest kept me incredibly engaged. This plays out exactly how incident reports on mainlist entries do: the banter, a lone agent in a strange and hostile environment, the racking drama and tension. Reading it is one thing but watching it in motion with this level of execution is beyond fantastic.
I also appreciate the creative liberty of a perspective of what the Foundation has to do to maintain normalcy when national governments don't feel like being nice. I'm assuming the line in the description about Detachment One's existence being controversial is a kind of preemptive counter to people who don't subscribe this to their own headcanon. It's a fresh take that raises questions about the Foundation's actions toward its mission goal.

those cameras have to work non stop for about 24 hours without running out of battery and memory, and also send live feed through secure channels, and cameras don't compress video on the spot, so low quality is understandable

Yeah it's quite accurate. Try watching helmet cams from marines in Afghanistan. It's top tier shit quality.
You want to record things for as long as possible, so you have to sacrifice quality for length. A memory card can’t keep even a day of 1080p footage, let alone a week-long operation.
High res video takes a lot of power. Their gear is heavy enough without carrying a car battery around. The added weight could be the difference between life or death when it comes to mobility. Tactical gear is made as light as possible and its a lot more expensive than normal guns and gear... Not really too necessary to record everything in HD, if there are documents they need to take a picture of or something they do carry around a high res cam but for general use low quality is fine. I agree though that the video quality was pretty bad and didnt need to be that immersive. Looks like they threw a pixelated filter on after everything was done to make it look like a headcam...

They also have alot of gadgets that allow the m to subdue any kind of Entity, the Scranton Reality Anchor. in Log Files uncovered in SCP 1730 'S OPERATION, SRA already had their format reduced considerably to a portable flare-like device, those things used to be enormous machines,a nd nowadays you have them in all sizes for those MTF Operation Squadrons. BUt, I understand that most of Evan royalty's videos it always shows those MTF units carrying less and less of their default fun gadgetry, appealing towards the ''realism'' and just nerfing the whole MTF considerably.
Afterall, in the ''canon written lore'' documents from SCP Wiki, the MTF units are always portrayed as invincible, even though most of the log file of their operations include a large amount of deaths of MTF Soldiers whenever they have to deal with monstrous creatures that can go invisible or are ten times their size. But dealing with reality benders is super easy for them~!
I obviously realise the budget on these series aren't big by any means, but mad kudos to the voice actors. It is so good.
Quality does drop once you notice it's all in GTA V, but the work done within that game (+ mods) is absolutely stellar. Hoping for more!

At first I thought 'oh nice, ARMA', then I recognized the bunker and laughed a little, rarely seen GTA being used for film-making this efficently.
The SCP at 25:00 was so interesting. I really want OP to write up a page for it. Putting in something that seems so non-threatening was a stroke of genius, it really has that SCP feel.

After SCP: First Contact, I just had to watch the premiere livestream. So glad I did! Minor spoilers below.
As cool as that was, I feel a little left out. The action scenes were amazing, the voice actors did great, and the atmosphere was fantastic! However, I feel like this is more of a build up for a much bigger plot like, like whatever was thrown into the other dimension escaping back out.
Plot wasn’t quite what I expected, most likely because I was expecting to see more SCPs and got great politics and world building instead. Still, this is massively enjoyable nonetheless. Amazing movie and I can’t wait for more!

Politics were one of the cooler aspects of the Foundation, next to the anomalies.

Fun to think what horrors he inflicts he you jam with him, a total mystery presented to us, we see him briefly and we have no idea what his deal is.
Absolutely fucking amazing. The entire time I was drawn deeper into the soldiers because of the amazing personalities they had. And later on in the video, absolutely amazing environment. So immersive and always keeping the viewer on alert. You my friend are really good. Can't wait to see any future projects you do. And have a fantastic day! (Also FYI your writing is amazing!)

I'm assuming the voices are coming from the boxes the camera focuses on. They probably were GOC soldiers who got "converted" by the musical SCP.
Seems like the initial transport mat can be classified as an SCP and anything inside the scp’s dimension will probably be given the -# title.

Its not easy to create an original feeling , dialogue driven tactical suspense flick but this is beautifully done. Felt like 10 minutes, good show

I don't know why but I REALLY like this. Just the act of moving in quiet as a squad. Scouting the area mixed in with sensible and funny dialog. silently moving around with different camera angles and ambience.

Again, I love how professional the soldiers are portrayed in this and the previous production. They're not jar-heads that lose their cool the instant things go south; they know what they're doing, they've got contingencies in place in case someone gets lost/killed, and even when cut off from the rest of the squad by an inter-dimensional rift they keep their heads level and look for a way back home.
That being said, the headcams were a lot less tolerable than the previous fixed cameras of the last video. I know that there's good logical reasoning as to why this had to be, but it did make the video hard to watch at times. The head-bobbing really got to me.
I agree with you, and then again, they're MTF Alpha -1 so they're the best there is.
