This is not about a double standard. This is about classism and mistreating those who have put you in your place of privilege. Some might be hating just because she is a woman, but on the other hand, others are defending her just because she is a woman. Personally, I think this is completely unprofessional behaviour, regardless of gender.
These big steamers with their big egos cannot handle criticism or failure. They think they're entitled to success always. Idk why anyone in their their right mind would give money to these hypocritical narcissists. It's untrue that male streamers aren't criticized. They're called out for promoting gambling, scamming with crypto, NFT, Starforge etc. And like pokimane, they, too, double down and throw a hissy fit like toddlers and continue like before because they get easy money. Their wealth is not hard earned. They've not struggled. So they have no appreciation for it. Mfs just farm content made by other hardworking creators, make react videos and get ez money and call themselves content creators. 🤮 Then they buy mansions while you cannot afford rent.

Its more of a drama news channel now. I remember a few years ago when all of their videos were absolute bangers, like the all the "story of" videos, or atleast pretty informative. Nowadays its just drama slop. Just easy content for easy views. Its sad when quality goes down as channels grow.

From my point of view the issue isn't the cookies, it's the fact that Pokimane said a very classist comment and hence seems unaware of her privilege.
She tries to act cool but to me it seems like she's temperamental and maybe a narcissist. Just another rich person deep in consumerism. All she had to say is "I understand your concern about the price point and I'll bring it up with the higher ups and see if there are any ways we can find a more affordable option" Literally needed to say nothing more and even if they cut the price by a dollar and did less advertising as a cost cut, she would be lauded as a queen. The recipes between her cookie and the Costco cookie are basically identical. Oompahville made a good video explaining the difference. I think with Poke and Valkyrae the issue isn't that they are women it's thay they are pushing products to their ride or die fans when they know the product doesn't work or isn't what it is set to be. Kinda like KSI and Logan with there prime drink thing. Gender has nothing to do with it. It's just false advertising.

This video completely misses the point... It's not about the cookies or Pokimane selling the cookies, it's about Pokimanes attitude and dismissal of the consumers/viewers opinions. Then talking down to them like its their fault. She handled it as bad as you could, and of course people are going to try to play the "girl" card to invalidate legit critisism. These are rebranded cookies sold at a pretty high mark up. Nothing special, original, or unique except Poki's name.

A content creator daring to insult people who do real work that meaningfully contributes to the world is absolutely not acceptable.
Money has clearly corrupted her and many others who dont realize that they are only in business because people who keep the wheels of society going deserve to have something to enjoy content wise.
But they need to know their place on the totem pole.
Much like actors, singers, sports stars, etc, these people are serving the same role in society as teddy bears and action figures used to. You are entertainment. Sure you get to be a person on your own time, but when you are 'at work', you are on the clock just like the rest of us.

I think Pokimane is really misunderstood and she is actually really kind. The cookies are marketed towards her tier 3 sub who is probably overweight, single, don't have a job. She just treated the deal like a streamer and not like a business woman... Double standards may exist but they are not the explanation for what happened. She had the full right to choose the price point of her product, she probably even had a consulting team to decide which strategy to follow. If that's the case, then it's a PR error trying to argue with the customers about the price point and not sticking with the marketing strategy. Some of the first videos i watched from this channel were the big tekken videos years ago. In a 10-15 minute video i got heavily invested into a game and its esports that i previously never cared about. Now you guys make drama videos about overpriced influencer cookies...
streamers are forgetting who tehy really are, they're entertainers. They put out something that entertain us and we as the audience either love it or hate it and people loving it makes them money. Same as comedians, they make us laugh we give them attention. A comedian calling their audience dumb and poor wouldn't go down well same with streamers.
