Creating an entire movie-like story around the lice on Clyde's head is absolutely insane. This episode was amazing.
When I first saw this episode, the whole time I kept thinking to myself that they could have easily made the lice storyline its own feature film. Even though it was relying on every cliche in the book, I was shockingly invested in that plot point.

I do remember in elementary school that all the other kids thought the kids with lice didn’t bathe or clean their hair good enough, but it turns out that the people with the cleanest and straighter hair are more susceptible to lice because lice want to be in clean, straight hair so that they can traverse the scalp better and be able to lay their eggs in, because the more tangled and dirtier the hair the more likely lice and their eggs are gonna get tangled up in it and die.
So how did Kenny get it?

@@Azurethewolf168 even if he doesn’t take care of his hair, lice will spread easily anyway. If he shared a hat with someone who had it or touched someone’s head then touched his own then there is still a very good chance the lice will get on his scalp.

It reminds me of the lice episode from Arthur, where nearly every kid in the school got head lice after trying on Muffy’s hat. The only exception was Buster because his hygiene was so poor, the lice found his fur to be uninhabitable. 😅

I'm a substitute teacher in California. Lice is still a thing. Just last year, I was subbing in a 1st grade. Without notice, the whole class gets called to go to the nurse, four at a time, to check for lice. Turns out three students had it. What gets me, is that the school and the teacher knew there were students in the class with lice, even before the nurse did her lice exam, and they didn't tell me until the end of the school day. I actually sat next to one of those students during readiing. How did the teacher and school know there were kids with lice in class? Because a few weeks earlier, one of the students gave lice to the teacher (and the teacher ended up giving it to her own kids). Apparently, the teacher had been talking with the administrators at the school and the parents of one of the kids (patient zero) about getting lice exams done. The teacher had a very good idea of the student with whom the lice had originated, but the parents of that child stalled getting a lice exam because they thought the school was singling them out because they were Mexican. Mind you, the teacher and 98% of the teachers, students, and administrators are all Mexican-American.

I just saw The Thing for the first time myself about a month ago, and it’s absolutely worth the watch
I hate to double dip. But I've been following u now for almost three yearz. IDK how i found u because then u only had like a few thousand followers. But Dash u make me and my 8 year olds daughters day so much brighter. I wont let her watch on TV, but its easy to watch ahead and edit ur videos for appropriateness... U have done fantastic and I'm happy to see this new generation pick up on something that was very much taboo when i was in 4th grade watching season one. This episode has possibly the greatest B plot in the history of B plots. It's funny, clever, horrific, interesting, dramatic, has shockingly good world-building for a joke, and even as a parody of multiple other stories leaves you thinking about our role as a species.
Dash, this will be a very long winded comment but I have been following your channel for the past year because I love South Park and although there are many other South Park reactors here on UA-cam you’ve always been my most favorite one. You’re always so wholesome, you put all references South Park makes in the video for us and you always pause when you talk so you don’t miss stuff and we get to see the majority of your reaction. Most other reactors chop up the reaction so much and try to entice us into joining their Patreon to see their “full” reaction.

I didn’t like this episode when it first aired but now as I'm older, I actually like this a lot. One thing that sounds wrong in my ears tho is Clyde's last name because in later episodes his last name is "Donovan" and I'm so used to that. 😂

Dude you'd absolutely love The Thing. It's one of my all time favorite horror movies. The 1951 The Thing from Another Wolrd, is also a really good movie, with an insanely phenomenal stunt that could've gone so horribly wrong in so many dangerous ways.

A rare Clyde-centric episode! I'm a sucker for episodes centered around Craig's crew (Craig, Clyde, Tolkien, Jimmy, and Tweek), because they're so rare, and it's always a treat to see what it's like to be a kid in the insane orbit of the four main boys.
It also showcases Clyde's gentler side, since out of all the kids with lice, HE was the one to call Garrison. Clyde's always been a bit of a follower and a dupe (he's often the second to fall for Cartman's schemes after Butters), but it's rare that it's shown that this is because he's actually pretty sensitive and drawn to people in general.
Speaking of Craig's crew, have you done the ORIGINAL "Pandemic" yet? Not the ones from the COVID era, but the original duology from Season 12? It does some neat stuff with Craig. :)

Hey! My wife despises this episode so much because the premise grosses her out, but we've gone back to it more than most other episodes because of that blood test parody scene from, "The Thing". Makes me howl like a hyena every time.
Dash, The Thing is one of the greatest horror films of all time, the practical effect and the atmospheric horror are truly top notch, you gotta watch it!
In all honesty this episode has been a top 10 episode of South Park for me for generation after generation..
According to Trey and Matt on their DVD commentary, this episode was inspired by all of the "Eco-Warrior" disaster movies that came out during the 2000s. I remember those movies, all of them were Really Dumb and took themselves way too seriously.
16:14 - "Pie Jesu" was NOT written by Andrew Lloyd Webber (double "b"). "Pie Jesu" was written by the famous French composer Gabriel Fauré (who was Ravel's teacher) and is part of his beloved Requiem in D minor.

I think when the VP says not to evacuate due to some festival is more of a reference to Jaws than Superman.
I always saw the VP being inspired by the VP from the Day After Tomorrow. Same hair, same ignoring the "world changing" (climate change).

Might be wasting my time telling this story but someone might read it. When I was in primary school ages 5-11 I remember there was a fellow classmate that unfortunately was very poor and I remember on a couple of occasions I would see a few crawling around her hair, didn't help that she was ginger. However this episode always reminds me of her because one day when I was in class I remember looking at the back of her head and it looked like her hair was animated. Her head was absolutely riddled in them to the point that it looked like her hair was moving but it was actually lice. I think something must have happened because not long after that we had an assembly (assembly is when the whole school sits in the hall and various things happen there, usually the head teacher speaking to everyone) in there the teacher spoke about lice and that each student would have to see the school nurse and blah blah blah. Obviously nothing was said to the students but over the course of a couple days each class lined up and each student individually went in. The day after ours went in she didn't come back to school for several days. I don't know what happened, I'm guessing the school bought a product or something for her family or, I don't have any clue. What I do know is that she came back to school and I never saw lice in her hair again thereafter. Before that point though we had a few small outbreaks, thankfully I missed most of them but when I was unlucky I had to sit on the floor for an hour every day until either parent and combed all lice/nits out and couldn't find any more. The products they sold when I was a kid didn't really seem to do anything. They were just a waste of money. Luckily mine and my siblings hair was short, so it was quite easy to comb through and I think helped in the process of not getting them very often if at all.
I've NEVER heard of any black person getting lice. I was told it was because of the oils that black people would put on their hair back in the 80s.
They literally can't get it lol. Like you said the oils but also the way their hair works compared to everyone else in terms of how it grows. Shit was OP
When I was a kid they used to do lice checks at school. They called me out of the class after one of the checks and I was super nervous. They called me in to tell me they found a tick in my hair unattached. Being pulled out of the classroom was embarrassing and what do I tell the other kids... "Oh I don't have lice they just found a tick in my hair" I mean... we were 7 so it would probably have worked but still... Just don't tell me if no action needs to be taken. Let me live in blissful ignorance lmao.
