When I first saw the episode, I didn't even know it was an allegory for racism - I thought it was more a commentary on people shaming others for being "weirdy" or "nerdy" in general.

That's because if someone is a Fascist, then they are subscribed to a Right-wing political ideology, and therefore they are not in any way affiliated with the Left-wing of the political spectrum.
*Far-Left = Anarchists, Hippies, etc.

The magic of South Park is the characters are kids and are naive to real world things. The earlier episodes always took advantage of this for great jokes and lines.
yeah, it's one of the things I miss the most about the show and it really made it so unique
@fancia one of the great things about old south park is they often wrote fun and interesting episodes for the jokes. They didn't have to be right about message or go out of way to say so and so is who we should point and laugh. It doesn't matter if the boys were right or moral, what matters is if you had fun and laughed. Much like the Simpsons these are not people should be looking for life advice.

They don't do exact same joke but they did keep similar characters around with the prejudice red necks who change their view of who they don't like in the name of tolerance by being intolerant to them.

Every now and then the song pops into my head, it's been a curse/blessing for over 20 years lol. In fact I replied "That makes me a saaaaad panda" just this past week to a text. It's clearly not one of the best early episodes but it's memorable which is all what matters.

Thank you, I'm glad someone mentioned it. I love Dash's reactions, and I try to NEVER comment on choices reactors make, but some of the things that he chooses to censor out are so bizarre. One of my other favorite channels is The Br3ak Room... they react to a lot of the same episodes and literally leave EVERYTHING in. I mean, the word sex? In 2024?

I really enjoy watching your reactions and reading the comments, this episode is/was hard for youtube, but like was mentioned, its an iconic episode, the stupid song sicks with you forever, you will never forget this episode, regardless of how "alright" it was... ten years from now, the SH jingle will still ring off randomly.

Oh man, what a classic episode.
Yeah I'm not too sure about the messages in this episode. Sure, frivolous lawsuits are bad, but lot of government money goes to allowing rich moguls to file for bankruptcy without consequences, pay $0-$750 in taxes a year and dodge the IRS, when a person working in a fast food chain pays more than that, and so on. It's like the rich telling middle class that their cost and prices are because of the poor when really it's because middle class pays more tax than the rich. The actual solution is proper taxing of billionaires so that when someone DOES go through they can get proper compensation AND there's enough to fund the system. The rich have put forth this idea that we only have money for choice A or B, but the reality is that there's enough for A, B, C and D. We don't have to choose.
However they find loop holes to not pay properly, then things are underfunded, which allows errors to take place, which causes negligence and then the underfunded org (like a school) is forced to pay out. So now they have even less funds. So they hire even less reputable people that's cheaper. So more issues happen. Sure, if people just took the pain and sacrificed themselves and not sue it would alleviate the issue, but the true culprit are those above, not those below scrambling to survive a system that's been SA'd by their greed.
And do we really need an episode telling people not to believe victims? I'm not sure what that last phrase was supposed to mean if not that. SH cases are rarely frivolous (although not never), the frivolous lawsuits tend to be rich lawyers creating class action lawsuits against mostly private companies. How it burdens the system is by tying up so many cops, judges, and the legal system, NOT because schools and public organizations are losing money to lawsuits....
Other than the social commentary being weird (which even the creators admit, they said they don't even remember making this episode and were just putting on random stuff because they were working on the movie), it was still pretty funny + quotable.
