    I appreciate this channel. Just firearms tips, knowledge, and simple content. No politics inserted every video, no creepy ballistic gel dummies to show "damage", not trying to be edgy. Actually focused on the firearms themselves, not the damage they can do. Mad respect.

    I can barely see a half size torso at 100 meters LOL, so for me it is impressive. My astigmatism makes it really difficult to focus on objects at certain distances, so the difference between the front sight at arm's length and the target at 100 meters blurs my vision so much.

    • @jmkhenka
      @jmkhenka 18 днів тому +2

      This has nothing to do with your vision, its just simple physics. eyes are like cameras, they have a maximum depth of focus, the distance of wich stuff is in sharpness. Everyone has out of focus targets if they properly focus on the front sight, there is no going around it. Light affects this somewhat - the smaller the pupil is (brighter light) the higher the depth of field is, but its marginal really.
      Also dont forgett that after about 40 the lens in the eye will start to get immobile - that is, the eye cant change focus. Thats why you need reading glasses when getting older, the lens gets rigid and stuck.
      Thats why lens replacements are not recommended under 40, as the replacement lens will be fixed focus.
      targets can be blurry, but it does not make the target smaller you just have to focus in the center of the blurr and only shoot with 1 eye.

      @@jmkhenka Well thought out response, you're totally correct.
      It's difficult to explain, but astigmatism can make it difficult to CHOOSE to focus on the sight instead of the target when the distance is beyond say, 30 yards for me. I'll be focused on the front iron, then my eyes will go "double vision, you see two front irons now!", then shift focus... this also happens with very close objects occasionally.
      I spoke with an optometrist and they said it has to do with one eye being more misshapen than the other and the muscles involved in focusing. I'm not an expert so I only have my own experience to share.

    I've done 100m with a .22lr Sig Mosquito with irons. Hardest part was the fact my sights completely occluded the target. Recently I did 200m with a Canik Rival in 9mm with a red dot. The hardest part about that was honestly the crappy ammo I was using. Had I been using a hot +P load it would've been really easy. I was using 9mm 124gr AAC fmj which is obviously a really cheap range ammo(its made by PSA lol). I was getting like 30" of dispersion at that distance with a consistent hold and a good trigger press. I'm gonna try it with better ammo one day but I was just fooling around when last time.
    You're right, 100m is easy but whenever I say that people think I'm bragging. When I started shooting pistols I always shot at 25m because that was the size of the pistol bay at the range I'm a member of and there's a little hut 25m from the berm at each bay and most of my stuff was on the table in the hut so I stood by the hut. People think I'm bragging when I say 25m is extremely easy but its actually just easy and the people who think that's braggadocious need to shoot their friggin guns more.

    This dude is the realest one in the gun community. He seems to be the only one out there who's actually spreading useful information, and he does it without any cheesy tough guy bullshit. I'm a political moderate so it's pretty jarring for me to watch channels named after rhodesian PMCs, for example.
    There's none of that here. Just simple information that'll make you a better shooter.

    I can see fine at about 5 m, I need glasses for anything further, so now I have distance glasses and it’s taking me sometime to get used to the target looking fine but the pistol front site being blurry because of my glasses. It’s opposite without the glasses. do you, and or how do you deal with that? I’m sure it’s just in my head, but it is bothersome. By the way, your videos are extremely informative and fun to watch. Thanks for the content.

    • @JaredAF
      @JaredAF  18 днів тому

      The front sight should be in focus and the target should be out of focus. Only focus on the target with a red dot.

  • @jmkhenka
    @jmkhenka 18 днів тому

    whats more critical is the weapons precision, they are not as accurate as rifles. 2" spread at 25 yards is 8" at 100, so at that distance you "loose" quite a lot of shots just because of spread. most rifles can do atleast 1.5" at 100 yards.
    But to judge pistols/revolvers accuracy you need a ransom rest. Unlike rifles pistols are really dependant on the one holding it.

    I am near sighted and i have old eyes, without glasses i can see my sights just fine but anything pass several feet is a blur and vice versa with glasses or contacts. Do you use different power eyeglasses when shooting vs regular daily use? Thank you, love your garand shorts!!

    • @JaredAF
      @JaredAF  16 днів тому +3

      i use my normal glasses but im younger and my eyes have a greater range of focus. you only need to be able to focus on the front sight post. the target will be blurry. as long as the front sight is centered in the rear sight notch and the front sight is centered on the blur, it will hit.

    As a pistol shooter in Sweden I have always felt that americans dont like shooting at anything over 10 yards, so ofc 25/50/100 feels like long range for them. In europe 25/50 meters is the default distances and there is few disciplines that shoot closer then that, because hitting stuff at 10 meters is not that hard unless you do it on time. we have IPSC and accuracy is never relevant in those courses.
    Im much less impressed with 100 yard shots, as I do it regulary in competition unlike americans.

    • @TehSlaw
      @TehSlaw 10 днів тому

      There are tons of shooting events way past 10 yards in America. Like almost all of them. There are plenty past 100 as well. In fact I don't really know anyone who shoots less than ten yards unless they are specially training for speed.
