I was serving in the Philippines on a USMC deployment and I came across a Beretta 92 Copy. It said Beertta. P. "Beerta" on the slide and grips. 😂 Someone had one too many San Miguels.

The 92 is the "r" in The Sopranos logo too. And it was used several times in the show to make some goombas sleep with the fishes. Lethal Weapon came out in the mid-80s right after it was adopted by the military and it was THE gun to have back then. My 2nd favorite semi-auto handgun of all time, behind the 1911, and I think I shoot the Beretta better than any handgun. It's super accurate and soft recoiling. By the way, very impressive channel, sir. You're wise for your meager years. Keep it up. You've got a new subscriber.
Probably the best looking 9mm to this day IMO. The fact that it is reliable and effective is a great bonus. Loves this gun. I also appreciate how safe it is.
I bought the Beretta 92fs in 2022 it works flawlessly. I’m looking forward to buy the Sig Sauer P226 Mark 25 which I believe is also a fantastic handgun. Both the Sig and the Beretta are incredible handguns and both actually served and serves the US Military.
It's fucking heavy is the only real problem. But it has the best mag and slide stop out of all pistol designs. A glock mag is nowhere near as compact as a beretta mag. The hi power is the only one that has a chance but that's because it has a true compact pistol grip

I use my 92SF for competition. New hobby for me. I love my 92. All my buds have race guns, optics, grips, etc etc. I have no intention of changing guns. Nothing out there quite like a 92. Great video young man. Lot of wisdom.
I love my beretta and I never understood why people disliked it. It’s not the hand gun for everyone but it is a very good gun. First time shooting the beretta was the M9 when I first enlisted and I never had an issue with it. The berettas we used were all worn and used. Can’t say they suck if they’ve stood with the US military for so long. Currently I do have the 92fs and it is a beauty! I have other firearms but my 92 is my first handgun. The M9 stood with me throughout my military service spanning thirty years. Utterly reliable. In Egypt, during qualifications, I experienced my one and only hiccup. A failure to feed. After literally thousands of rounds through it, I can live with the fact that it was a bad magazine that contributed to the FTF. This gun keeps on ticking and performing flawlessly. On that note, I might mention that the 92X feels like a worthy spawn of the M9. Plenty of M9s out there, used and new, if you need to buy this gun that will no doubt last a few generations.
Maybe a stupid question, but I've seen many commenters say they used it for their "qualifications" (and I'm not American and not in the military). What is " qualifications"? I understand it's part of the military training, but what is it exactly? A sort of exam?
I bought my first beretta back in 2016 92FS model kept it stock. My favorite handgun then i bought another one in 2021. Great video and yes your right once you master the beretta you can pretty much use any handgun
This is probably the best Beretta M9 video I have ever seen! I have a Beretta 92FS made in Italy I bought brand new back in the beginning of 2020. It is my favorite gun of all time, and usually my EDC! I also have an HK P30 9mm which I sometimes carry, and I use to own many different Glocks but not anymore. I was a big Glock fan for over 20 years because I didn't know any better. Now when I go in a gun store I don't even look at Glocks. I have put 5,400 rounds through my Beretta and have only experienced one malfunction, and I believe that was due to Blazer Brass ammo someone had bought me this last Christmas... One thing that I'm surprised is that more people don't emphasize on the fact that the Beretta 92FS/M9 has an OPEN-TOP SLIDE with a 180-degree ejection port and straight feed system! That's what makes this gun unique and more reliable than any other handgun in the world! I can hand my Beretta 92FS to a new shooter and they will shoot it flawlessly, with no feed jams even if they are limp wristing it a little bit! It's a great gun for beginners! It's a great gun for almost anyone! Not to mention it is extremely accurate, has very minimal recall due to its design which makes it a pleasure to shoot! It's also a beautiful gun! In my opinion the Beretta 92FS/M9 is the best handgun design ever made! By the way, you seem to be very knowledgeable, but you look very young. Just curious, how old are you? yeah it is really a great over all pistol and the recoil is so tame it's great for getting new shooters over that initial recoil fear. there's a reason i have like half a dozen or so of various types... im closer to my teens than my thirties
I think the best I've ever shot on a Military range was with the M9. After the Marine Corps I entered the Army National Guard. We were a Aviation Unit and our service weapon was M9. A trip to Ft. Knox for weapons qual, I shot the course a second time and perfect both trips. The side arm made a believer out of me. The double action did take some getting used to, but she's more accurate than I am.

One of the very first pistols I ever shot was the Beretta M9 and to this day, it’s spoiled most other firearms for me for life. Accurate, tough, reliable and cool looking beyond all description. As a kid who grew up in the late 80’s, early 90’s, this gun was in every single action movie and it’s cemented it’s legacy in stone as one of the coolest “good guy pistols” in cinema history. Great review!!! P.S. Extra points for the opening of this video. Solid Snake’s pistol for Metal Gear 1987 and MG2:Solid Snake 1990, was a Beretta 92. I’m sure Snake would absolutely approve of that opening!!!!
Absolutely. I remember distinctly the M9 in all the MGS2 box/poster art. Super excited to play them again when the remasters come out on PC. It's been probably 15 years since I've played through MGS3 and I still maintain it's my favorite game ever.

I've got several models of the 92. The Centurion (older model), the Vertec (1911 style grip), and the good old standard 92FS. I can't say enough about them. I have somewhat of a large collection, but the 92's have been, and will always be the superior models that I have. Sig's, Taurus's, Rugers, RIA's....they're all great.....but the Beretta's are stand-outs.
The Beretta 92FS is my favorite auto-loading pistol of all time. It had always been a grail weapon for me since my father carried an M9 for many years during his time in the Marine Corps. Mine is an older Italian built model from 1990 with the factory wood grips and its never let me down once.
The 92fs has been my carry gun for a few years thanks to die hard, mgs, and numerous others games and movies. I absolutely love it, extremely accurate comfortable to shoot and just feels so cool.
Man, love the start with the stock gun advice. An entire industry dedicated to aftermarket accessories. Start at the beginning and know your kit. Then add on. Easy to get swept up in all that when you first start out.
I've been wanting a Beretta M9, but I had to settle for a 92FS. Luckily, it has the straight dust cover and no cutout in the grip like the M9. I painted the sights to be like the M9's. However, I still like my 92x more. Better grip.

I got mine when Shoot Straight had a great sale in 2018. They had new ones for $469. At that price, I thought it meant the M9 was ending production, and there would only be M9A3 variants in the future. I was so happy to see that this beautiful class can still be bought new. At that time, I did not know the difference between the M9 and the 92FS. When it was explained that the M9 was made in the USA, I chose it. I like when there are good factory jobs in the USA, for well priced goods. It also felt good to unwrap it and find that it was made in Tennessee instead of Maryland. I never liked the idea of guns being made in states unfriendly to gun owners. I have an M9 and an AR15 because I feel like I get to have a piece of American history in my hands. It is one reason I get attracted to the 1911 and P226.
I just came back from a trip to the range. Man, with my M9A3 I could put 300 rounds into a torso at 50 yards 99% of the time (off hands, unsupported). I could not do the same with my Sig, Glock, and HK!
Great review on the 92.....I have a 96 and it makes a difference when ordering holsters. That's one drawback on the whole Beretta line. I had a hard time with holsters. Spot on though with all the specs on it, especially the reliability. Even with the .22 which isn't really a Beretta...not made by Beretta....has been totally reliable and fun to shoot....
Lovely review. Loving the '80s vibe. I had a Casio watch like you have, back as a boy. I actually like the 92fs. I find it comfy and reassuring. Its my home defense and range fun gun.
I've had several versions of 92 and currently have a 92X Centurion. They've all been great, but the 92X is my favorite.The thin grips that are now available changed the ergos for me and made the 92 a perfect fit for me. For me, the LTT trigger bar and 13lb hammer spring make a fantastic gun even better.
I absolutely LOVE my 92x. And I never thought I would own one. I've never liked rails on handguns and the vertec grip always looked weird to me. But holding it for the first time, I fell in love and had to buy it. It's been my EDC ever since.
The Vertec grip is interesting for me. For whatever reason, the 92X Compact points better for me without the wraparound-grip and the standard vertec frame points better with the wraparound grip. Man I wish I got an M9A3 Black Made in Italy when they were available. Those are just beautiful handguns.
@@JaredAF I wish I had bought a second (or third 92x). They already discontinued mine and replaced it with the newer version with forward slide serrations and cut for the optic on top. I don't care for either of those features. Now i'm worried about mine developing a collector value because of how short of a time they made it lol.
@@JaredAF I've got smaller hands so the "1911" style vertec grip definitely feels better to me. My ideal 92 design would be the grip and rounded trigger guard of the 92x with the 92x sights, but the slide and dust cover of a classic M9/92S.
@@KossoffFan Check out a channel called Mosin Virus. He converted a standard 92 frame to a vertec frame. Pretty awesome work and if he could do it with a file I'm sure a gunsmith could arrange that for you. Or mill off the rail of a 92X, either or (would hae to relocate the serial number however).
@@KossoffFan Also they did the same thing with the 92X Compact without the rail. Discontinued after approximately 1 year. Probably didn't sell well considering everyone wants to stick lights lasers and tactical toasters onto all their firearms these day. Honestly that gun would have been perfect for what you wanted since it's round trigger guard, straight railless dustcover and vertec gripped. It, to me, looked like a modern version of the 92SB compact which in my opinion, is the most beautiful 92 series pistol ever made. I'm very happy that I bought two (one a G model one an F model for my Dad) and that's when I found out I preferred the F type over the modern G levers. The older G levers are fine. I sold that slide and purchased an old 92F Compact slide that had the FS cut added for the enlarged FS hammer pin.
Great video Jared. Not my favorite but a great pistol nonetheless. I love the old look. And I like the A4. Would never feel under gunned with the FS/M9.

Even then it's probably more of a "grass is greener" thing than any real criticism. The cool guys at the time of the peak M9-era were running Sig 226s or even Glock 19s so the natural tendency is to want what the other guy has. Same people I bet complain about "lowest bidder" not understanding that it's the lowest bidder that meets a standard, and often times that standard can be quite high when it comes to military equipment, or at least you know what you're getting because the standards are public information and often times the gear has an extensive information plate or tag attached. Most of the cold weather gear I still use in my work or out hunting is military issue stuff because it's extremely high quality and a quarter the cost of the commercial stuff, even when it's made and sold by the same manufacturers that fulfill the military contracts. Cz75 probably checks off those boxes even more. Beretta has the advantage of amazing magazine design and slide stop and biggest possible ejection port known to handguns
When I followed my Dad to the pistol matches he would attended, he would eventually get me a used Taurus T92 clone of the Beretta M9. I loved that gun and the only malfunction I had with it was cheep after market mags. But the gun was very accurate. Now that I can get my own toys, I've thought adding a real Beretta 92 to the collection would be fitting. Still think the Taurus frame mounted safety and decocker is better than Beretta's slid mount.
The Taurus is fine for what it is, especially considering the price. I forgot to mention this in the video but another reason I like the slide mounted decocker safety because it drops the hammer all down, not to the half cock notch like almost every frame mounted decocker out there. It is pretty handy to be able to run cocked and locked on the PT 92 though. Thank you for watching

Excellent video. I own an Italian-made 92FS and a new 92X Compact. Both are nice though I prefer the new X grip. The X’s have a noticeably lighter trigger pull, however you are correct in that if a person practices with a heavy double-action, they will learn proper trigger manipulation. My only complaint about my new Tennessee-made 92X is that QC is lacking: specks under the slide finish, uneven milling in spots on the slide, and specks of red paint on the slide and rear sight from when the safety marks were applied. Still an awesome weapon though. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!
Gallatin, TN QC... I didn't go into it this video but wanted to make a video about Berettas US vs Italian amd have a few examples from different eras. Yeah, my Gallatin guns have had the worst QC by far. Also I believe the 92X's and all other new models come from the factory with the lighter 16 lb D spring instead of the normal 20 lb factory spring.
I will forever like the Beretta m9 as us army American version and the 92fs as Italian made only! Just like with colt 1911s only! A 9mm Beretta I would ever buy again!
Love my 92 first gun I ever bought. Only problem I’ve ever had with it was the slide not locking back when empty about 60% of the time. I’ve only run factory mags in it and was an issue from the start. You guys think it’s the mags or the gun?
it's definitely a grip/technique issue, your thumb is brushing the slide lock under recoil and you may not even realize it. It happens to me almost 100% of the time when using one hand and about 50% of the time with 2 hands unless consciously trying to correct for it. It's not something i worry about, if it bothers you enough you can grind down the slide lock a little bit.
Most that think the M9 is rubbish are the former military that were issued overly abuse POSs with cheap replacement parts. I was one of them. But that all changes when you finally fire a fairly new one that hasn't had 100k rounds through it. You'll be hearing how the Sig M17/18 is garbage in about 10-15 years. And then there are the "upgraded" like the X series, Wilson, Langdon, etc. I have an M9 to compliment my 92xi. These are really reliable.
More than I decade ago I got lucky enough to get my hands on one of those initial 92s with a stepped slide. I think it was manufactured in 1975/76. A lot has changed since that era, but the magic is feels the same with my X-Performance now.
My all time fav pistol. Loved this gun from all the hollywood use in the ,80 and 90. I bought a 92 fs back in the late 90s. Fantastic gun. Recently bought a civilian m9. I can now die happy, eventually lol. My very favorite pistol. Im a glock man threw and threw but if i could only have 1 gun the 92 m9 is the one i would keep. The m9a2,3,4 no thanks. Gotta be the original. Must have all the curves.
I learned to shoot on my dad's bone stock beretta 92fs and loved that gun. Shot the crap out of it, and got good at the heavy double action trigger. Then I grew up and got some money and went out and bought a LTT Beretta 92G Elite with the RDO slide and the NP3 parts and the trigger job and all that. Put some nice grips on it from Lok Grips, a Trijicon RMR, and a surefire X300. I have carried that gun every single day for the past 2 and a half years.

I believe all of the 92 Series have chrome lined barrels unless they're stainless. I don't know when they started doing that but it was a long, long time ago, I think even before the 92 "FS", so around 1983-1984.

I think another important advantage of the 92/M9 is while the aftermarket for "upgrades" isn't the largest, the availability and inexpensiveness of spare parts, spare magazines, etc, is by far the largest of any hammer fired 9mm here in the states. You can find surplus mags for $5 on a regular basis, which is insane. And it's only going to get better as USGI parts begin seeping into the market.
Absolutely based video. Bought a Glock as my first firearm last year, but a 92FS is next on my list. Will eventually get a Mk23 so I can be cool like Solid Snake.
For extensive dry fire, I put a little rubber o-ring on the back of the slide so that the firing pin doesn’t get impacted and potentially damaged. Easier and cheaper than snap caps and you can still do manipulations (just make sure the o-ring doesn’t fall out or shift)
I just bought a 92FS as my first firearm, you'd happy to know international market Berettas don't have the lawyer text. Mine is Italian made in 2022 (IT22 marking).
A very accurate assessment of the general perception of the 92. Just like you said, the public was pretty much 'ambivalent' towards the 92/M9, all through the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It never had a huge following and most had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. Only in more recent years has there been a change. In my limited experience anyway.
My only carry gun. Every single day. Long road trips. Doesn't matter. Full size LTT Beretta with an RMR and a surefire X300 ultra. Love the gun so much that I don't care about it being big and heavy and inconvienient at times to carry. I just learned to get better at concealing it. I carry it appendix in a tier one axis elite.
I have a 92FS that is 15 years old. I put a MCarbo trigger spring kit in it and I am no gunsmith or armorer. It was easy. I now have a 5lb double-action trigger weight and it is smooth as glass. $35 and an hour of my time.
I own a Beretta 92fs. I guess í'm different from most guys, í love the Beretta just the way it came from the factory. I've had mine over 2-years, í haven't changed one thing! As far as í'm concerned it's the all around best 9mm hand gun in the gun world. And-ít looks good too!
Black Lagoon, Revy's sword cutlass fs 2x was always dope to me. I have a 92fs and model 96 which is basically a 92fs chambered in 40 cal, same size and look the same, kinda Wana get them customized to look like Revy's
this was my first gun in 2019. as a kid, i knew the second i could legally own a handgun, this was gonna be my first purchase. id sell all my guns today if i had to, and keep the M9. so much nostalgia for me and just pure love for the platform
I’ve carried a beretta m9 on my person or vehicle since 2012.ive only ever had one malfunction which was caused by a gas station cappuccino which I spilt on myself which got in the gun and dried. Let me tell you it locked it up so hard it only cycled halfway 😂
The M9 was junk! It wasn't at all durable. Prone to spring breakage. Drop it and it might break. The only reason for it was that other NATO countries used the 9mm, so we should, too.
I think the 92 is a good gun (on account of them being in production for like 4 decades straight), but IMO, it can not hold a flame to an old Hi-Power. I quite like your videos, I find it quite refreshing to see a fellow younger gun guy who doesn't like "tacticool" garbage.

the "government model" has been the commercial name that Colt has sold 1911s under for over a century now. It is not the same as an issued 1911 manufactured in two patterns (1911, and 1911A1) by several different manufacturers, at least 6 i can think of off the top of my head. there are numerous differences between the civilian/commercial "government model" and the military issue 1911. Colt has made reproductions of the US military 1911 and 1911A1, but they were only in limited quantities.
@@JaredAF your wrong!! First gen 1911's had short trigger's and a straight back strap !! WW-2 had long trigger and arched mainspring housing!! A-1 slightly better sights. Colt has revised them both as well as Springfield armory
I've always seen the M9 as the only hand gun to finally be a worthy successor to the the M1911, it might not pack the same punch but its just as reliable and loved.
I've got a 92x RDO compact I'd like a stainless steel barrel and parts, but it's a Beauty as it is! Oh no optic for me. It's my first all metal hammer fired pistol! That's too funny I bought the G kit but I haven't installed it either! 😂
Bought a 92fs as my first handgun and hated it went through the wringer, 1911’s Glocks cz’s you name it. I’m a better shooter now and actually put the time in to train with the double action and now I’m running my first m9a1 again and it’s a fantastic gun.
I've never liked the size of the Beretta 92 pistols. In my opinion they're too big for the caliber and that safety is awkward for me to use. I do like the large ejection port and how easy it is to take apart but I think the US military should've went with the Sig P226.
I am actually having the decocker of my m9A4 converted to the decocker/safety. I love the pistol, but want it to be closer to the m9 I carried for 21 years in the military.

This may be a dumb question, but why do you close your nondominant eye when shooting? I was always trained to shoot with both eyes open when not using magnified optics so that I could be more aware. But, you usually have a pretty well-thought-out reason for most things you do, so I was curious if this was just a preferential difference or if it is better to do one or the other.

I use my 92SF for competition. New hobby for me. I love my 92. All my buds have race guns, optics, grips, etc etc. I have no intention of changing guns. Nothing out there quite like a 92. Great video young man. Lot of wisdom.
I love my beretta and I never understood why people disliked it. It’s not the hand gun for everyone but it is a very good gun. First time shooting the beretta was the M9 when I first enlisted and I never had an issue with it. The berettas we used were all worn and used. Can’t say they suck if they’ve stood with the US military for so long. Currently I do have the 92fs and it is a beauty! I have other firearms but my 92 is my first handgun. The M9 stood with me throughout my military service spanning thirty years. Utterly reliable. In Egypt, during qualifications, I experienced my one and only hiccup. A failure to feed. After literally thousands of rounds through it, I can live with the fact that it was a bad magazine that contributed to the FTF. This gun keeps on ticking and performing flawlessly. On that note, I might mention that the 92X feels like a worthy spawn of the M9. Plenty of M9s out there, used and new, if you need to buy this gun that will no doubt last a few generations.
Maybe a stupid question, but I've seen many commenters say they used it for their "qualifications" (and I'm not American and not in the military). What is " qualifications"? I understand it's part of the military training, but what is it exactly? A sort of exam?

I bought my first beretta back in 2016 92FS model kept it stock. My favorite handgun then i bought another one in 2021. Great video and yes your right once you master the beretta you can pretty much use any handgun
This is probably the best Beretta M9 video I have ever seen! I have a Beretta 92FS made in Italy I bought brand new back in the beginning of 2020. It is my favorite gun of all time, and usually my EDC! I also have an HK P30 9mm which I sometimes carry, and I use to own many different Glocks but not anymore. I was a big Glock fan for over 20 years because I didn't know any better. Now when I go in a gun store I don't even look at Glocks. I have put 5,400 rounds through my Beretta and have only experienced one malfunction, and I believe that was due to Blazer Brass ammo someone had bought me this last Christmas... One thing that I'm surprised is that more people don't emphasize on the fact that the Beretta 92FS/M9 has an OPEN-TOP SLIDE with a 180-degree ejection port and straight feed system! That's what makes this gun unique and more reliable than any other handgun in the world! I can hand my Beretta 92FS to a new shooter and they will shoot it flawlessly, with no feed jams even if they are limp wristing it a little bit! It's a great gun for beginners! It's a great gun for almost anyone! Not to mention it is extremely accurate, has very minimal recall due to its design which makes it a pleasure to shoot! It's also a beautiful gun! In my opinion the Beretta 92FS/M9 is the best handgun design ever made! By the way, you seem to be very knowledgeable, but you look very young. Just curious, how old are you? yeah it is really a great over all pistol and the recoil is so tame it's great for getting new shooters over that initial recoil fear. there's a reason i have like half a dozen or so of various types... im closer to my teens than my thirties
I think the best I've ever shot on a Military range was with the M9. After the Marine Corps I entered the Army National Guard. We were a Aviation Unit and our service weapon was M9. A trip to Ft. Knox for weapons qual, I shot the course a second time and perfect both trips. The side arm made a believer out of me. The double action did take some getting used to, but she's more accurate than I am.

One of the very first pistols I ever shot was the Beretta M9 and to this day, it’s spoiled most other firearms for me for life. Accurate, tough, reliable and cool looking beyond all description. As a kid who grew up in the late 80’s, early 90’s, this gun was in every single action movie and it’s cemented it’s legacy in stone as one of the coolest “good guy pistols” in cinema history. Great review!!!
P.S. Extra points for the opening of this video. Solid Snake’s pistol for Metal Gear 1987 and MG2:Solid Snake 1990, was a Beretta 92. I’m sure Snake would absolutely approve of that opening!!!!
Absolutely. I remember distinctly the M9 in all the MGS2 box/poster art. Super excited to play them again when the remasters come out on PC. It's been probably 15 years since I've played through MGS3 and I still maintain it's my favorite game ever.

I've got several models of the 92. The Centurion (older model), the Vertec (1911 style grip), and the good old standard 92FS. I can't say enough about them. I have somewhat of a large collection, but the 92's have been, and will always be the superior models that I have. Sig's, Taurus's, Rugers, RIA's....they're all great.....but the Beretta's are stand-outs.
The Beretta 92FS is my favorite auto-loading pistol of all time. It had always been a grail weapon for me since my father carried an M9 for many years during his time in the Marine Corps. Mine is an older Italian built model from 1990 with the factory wood grips and its never let me down once.
The 92fs has been my carry gun for a few years thanks to die hard, mgs, and numerous others games and movies. I absolutely love it, extremely accurate comfortable to shoot and just feels so cool.

Man, love the start with the stock gun advice. An entire industry dedicated to aftermarket accessories. Start at the beginning and know your kit. Then add on. Easy to get swept up in all that when you first start out.

I've been wanting a Beretta M9, but I had to settle for a 92FS. Luckily, it has the straight dust cover and no cutout in the grip like the M9. I painted the sights to be like the M9's. However, I still like my 92x more. Better grip.

I got mine when Shoot Straight had a great sale in 2018. They had new ones for $469. At that price, I thought it meant the M9 was ending production, and there would only be M9A3 variants in the future. I was so happy to see that this beautiful class can still be bought new.
At that time, I did not know the difference between the M9 and the 92FS. When it was explained that the M9 was made in the USA, I chose it. I like when there are good factory jobs in the USA, for well priced goods. It also felt good to unwrap it and find that it was made in Tennessee instead of Maryland. I never liked the idea of guns being made in states unfriendly to gun owners.
I have an M9 and an AR15 because I feel like I get to have a piece of American history in my hands. It is one reason I get attracted to the 1911 and P226.
I just came back from a trip to the range. Man, with my M9A3 I could put 300 rounds into a torso at 50 yards 99% of the time (off hands, unsupported). I could not do the same with my Sig, Glock, and HK!

Great review on the 92.....I have a 96 and it makes a difference when ordering holsters. That's one drawback on the whole Beretta line. I had a hard time with holsters. Spot on though with all the specs on it, especially the reliability. Even with the .22 which isn't really a Beretta...not made by Beretta....has been totally reliable and fun to shoot....

I've had several versions of 92 and currently have a 92X Centurion.
They've all been great, but the 92X is my favorite.The thin grips that are now available changed the ergos for me and made the 92 a perfect fit for me. For me, the LTT trigger bar and 13lb hammer spring make a fantastic gun even better.
I absolutely LOVE my 92x. And I never thought I would own one. I've never liked rails on handguns and the vertec grip always looked weird to me. But holding it for the first time, I fell in love and had to buy it. It's been my EDC ever since.
The Vertec grip is interesting for me. For whatever reason, the 92X Compact points better for me without the wraparound-grip and the standard vertec frame points better with the wraparound grip. Man I wish I got an M9A3 Black Made in Italy when they were available. Those are just beautiful handguns.
@@JaredAF I wish I had bought a second (or third 92x). They already discontinued mine and replaced it with the newer version with forward slide serrations and cut for the optic on top. I don't care for either of those features. Now i'm worried about mine developing a collector value because of how short of a time they made it lol.
@@JaredAF I've got smaller hands so the "1911" style vertec grip definitely feels better to me. My ideal 92 design would be the grip and rounded trigger guard of the 92x with the 92x sights, but the slide and dust cover of a classic M9/92S.
@@KossoffFan Check out a channel called Mosin Virus. He converted a standard 92 frame to a vertec frame. Pretty awesome work and if he could do it with a file I'm sure a gunsmith could arrange that for you. Or mill off the rail of a 92X, either or (would hae to relocate the serial number however).
@@KossoffFan Also they did the same thing with the 92X Compact without the rail. Discontinued after approximately 1 year. Probably didn't sell well considering everyone wants to stick lights lasers and tactical toasters onto all their firearms these day. Honestly that gun would have been perfect for what you wanted since it's round trigger guard, straight railless dustcover and vertec gripped. It, to me, looked like a modern version of the 92SB compact which in my opinion, is the most beautiful 92 series pistol ever made. I'm very happy that I bought two (one a G model one an F model for my Dad) and that's when I found out I preferred the F type over the modern G levers. The older G levers are fine. I sold that slide and purchased an old 92F Compact slide that had the FS cut added for the enlarged FS hammer pin.

Even then it's probably more of a "grass is greener" thing than any real criticism. The cool guys at the time of the peak M9-era were running Sig 226s or even Glock 19s so the natural tendency is to want what the other guy has. Same people I bet complain about "lowest bidder" not understanding that it's the lowest bidder that meets a standard, and often times that standard can be quite high when it comes to military equipment, or at least you know what you're getting because the standards are public information and often times the gear has an extensive information plate or tag attached. Most of the cold weather gear I still use in my work or out hunting is military issue stuff because it's extremely high quality and a quarter the cost of the commercial stuff, even when it's made and sold by the same manufacturers that fulfill the military contracts. Lol, got a little off topic but thank you for watching

When I followed my Dad to the pistol matches he would attended, he would eventually get me a used Taurus T92 clone of the Beretta M9. I loved that gun and the only malfunction I had with it was cheep after market mags. But the gun was very accurate. Now that I can get my own toys, I've thought adding a real Beretta 92 to the collection would be fitting. Still think the Taurus frame mounted safety and decocker is better than Beretta's slid mount.
The Taurus is fine for what it is, especially considering the price. I forgot to mention this in the video but another reason I like the slide mounted decocker safety because it drops the hammer all down, not to the half cock notch like almost every frame mounted decocker out there. It is pretty handy to be able to run cocked and locked on the PT 92 though. Thank you for watching

Excellent video. I own an Italian-made 92FS and a new 92X Compact. Both are nice though I prefer the new X grip. The X’s have a noticeably lighter trigger pull, however you are correct in that if a person practices with a heavy double-action, they will learn proper trigger manipulation. My only complaint about my new Tennessee-made 92X is that QC is lacking: specks under the slide finish, uneven milling in spots on the slide, and specks of red paint on the slide and rear sight from when the safety marks were applied. Still an awesome weapon though. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos!
Gallatin, TN QC... I didn't go into it this video but wanted to make a video about Berettas US vs Italian amd have a few examples from different eras. Yeah, my Gallatin guns have had the worst QC by far. Also I believe the 92X's and all other new models come from the factory with the lighter 16 lb D spring instead of the normal 20 lb factory spring.
I will forever like the Beretta m9 as us army American version and the 92fs as Italian made only! Just like with colt 1911s only!

Love my 92 first gun I ever bought. Only problem I’ve ever had with it was the slide not locking back when empty about 60% of the time. I’ve only run factory mags in it and was an issue from the start. You guys think it’s the mags or the gun?
it's definitely a grip/technique issue, your thumb is brushing the slide lock under recoil and you may not even realize it. It happens to me almost 100% of the time when using one hand and about 50% of the time with 2 hands unless consciously trying to correct for it. It's not something i worry about, if it bothers you enough you can grind down the slide lock a little bit.
Super common with 92s for it to not lock back due to grip shape/technique

I had a short recommended to me, I clicked your channel, I hit subscribe as soon as the policenauts theme started.
Most that think the M9 is rubbish are the former military that were issued overly abuse POSs with cheap replacement parts. I was one of them. But that all changes when you finally fire a fairly new one that hasn't had 100k rounds through it. You'll be hearing how the Sig M17/18 is garbage in about 10-15 years. And then there are the "upgraded" like the X series, Wilson, Langdon, etc. I have an M9 to compliment my 92xi. These are really reliable.
More than I decade ago I got lucky enough to get my hands on one of those initial 92s with a stepped slide. I think it was manufactured in 1975/76. A lot has changed since that era, but the magic is feels the same with my X-Performance now.

I've only had good experiences. The DA to SA first to second was a bit odd at first for me but it is accurate. Reliable, and well made.
My all time fav pistol. Loved this gun from all the hollywood use in the ,80 and 90. I bought a 92 fs back in the late 90s. Fantastic gun. Recently bought a civilian m9. I can now die happy, eventually lol. My very favorite pistol. Im a glock man threw and threw but if i could only have 1 gun the 92 m9 is the one i would keep. The m9a2,3,4 no thanks. Gotta be the original. Must have all the curves.
I learned to shoot on my dad's bone stock beretta 92fs and loved that gun. Shot the crap out of it, and got good at the heavy double action trigger. Then I grew up and got some money and went out and bought a LTT Beretta 92G Elite with the RDO slide and the NP3 parts and the trigger job and all that. Put some nice grips on it from Lok Grips, a Trijicon RMR, and a surefire X300. I have carried that gun every single day for the past 2 and a half years.

I believe all of the 92 Series have chrome lined barrels unless they're stainless. I don't know when they started doing that but it was a long, long time ago, I think even before the 92 "FS", so around 1983-1984.

I think another important advantage of the 92/M9 is while the aftermarket for "upgrades" isn't the largest, the availability and inexpensiveness of spare parts, spare magazines, etc, is by far the largest of any hammer fired 9mm here in the states. You can find surplus mags for $5 on a regular basis, which is insane. And it's only going to get better as USGI parts begin seeping into the market.
Absolutely based video. Bought a Glock as my first firearm last year, but a 92FS is next on my list. Will eventually get a Mk23 so I can be cool like Solid Snake.

For extensive dry fire, I put a little rubber o-ring on the back of the slide so that the firing pin doesn’t get impacted and potentially damaged. Easier and cheaper than snap caps and you can still do manipulations (just make sure the o-ring doesn’t fall out or shift)
I just bought a 92FS as my first firearm, you'd happy to know international market Berettas don't have the lawyer text. Mine is Italian made in 2022 (IT22 marking).
A very accurate assessment of the general perception of the 92. Just like you said, the public was pretty much 'ambivalent' towards the 92/M9, all through the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. It never had a huge following and most had a take-it-or-leave-it attitude. Only in more recent years has there been a change. In my limited experience anyway.
Yeah and the hate boner guys were just typical enlisted bitching I'd figure.
My only carry gun. Every single day. Long road trips. Doesn't matter. Full size LTT Beretta with an RMR and a surefire X300 ultra. Love the gun so much that I don't care about it being big and heavy and inconvienient at times to carry. I just learned to get better at concealing it. I carry it appendix in a tier one axis elite.

I have a 92FS that is 15 years old. I put a MCarbo trigger spring kit in it and I am no gunsmith or armorer. It was easy. I now have a 5lb double-action trigger weight and it is smooth as glass. $35 and an hour of my time.

I own a Beretta 92fs. I guess í'm different from most guys, í love the Beretta just the way it came from the factory. I've had mine over 2-years, í haven't changed one thing! As far as í'm concerned it's the all around best 9mm hand gun in the gun world. And-ít looks good too!

Black Lagoon, Revy's sword cutlass fs 2x was always dope to me. I have a 92fs and model 96 which is basically a 92fs chambered in 40 cal, same size and look the same, kinda Wana get them customized to look like Revy's
this was my first gun in 2019. as a kid, i knew the second i could legally own a handgun, this was gonna be my first purchase. id sell all my guns today if i had to, and keep the M9. so much nostalgia for me and just pure love for the platform
I’ve carried a beretta m9 on my person or vehicle since 2012.ive only ever had one malfunction which was caused by a gas station cappuccino which I spilt on myself which got in the gun and dried. Let me tell you it locked it up so hard it only cycled halfway 😂
The M9 was junk! It wasn't at all durable. Prone to spring breakage. Drop it and it might break. The only reason for it was that other NATO countries used the 9mm, so we should, too.

I think the 92 is a good gun (on account of them being in production for like 4 decades straight), but IMO, it can not hold a flame to an old Hi-Power. I quite like your videos, I find it quite refreshing to see a fellow younger gun guy who doesn't like "tacticool" garbage.

the "government model" has been the commercial name that Colt has sold 1911s under for over a century now. It is not the same as an issued 1911 manufactured in two patterns (1911, and 1911A1) by several different manufacturers, at least 6 i can think of off the top of my head. there are numerous differences between the civilian/commercial "government model" and the military issue 1911. Colt has made reproductions of the US military 1911 and 1911A1, but they were only in limited quantities.

I've always seen the M9 as the only hand gun to finally be a worthy successor to the the M1911, it might not pack the same punch but its just as reliable and loved.
I've got a 92x RDO compact I'd like a stainless steel barrel and parts, but it's a Beauty as it is! Oh no optic for me. It's my first all metal hammer fired pistol!

Bought a 92fs as my first handgun and hated it went through the wringer, 1911’s Glocks cz’s you name it. I’m a better shooter now and actually put the time in to train with the double action and now I’m running my first m9a1 again and it’s a fantastic gun.

I've never liked the size of the Beretta 92 pistols. In my opinion they're too big for the caliber and that safety is awkward for me to use. I do like the large ejection port and how easy it is to take apart but I think the US military should've went with the Sig P226.

I am actually having the decocker of my m9A4 converted to the decocker/safety. I love the pistol, but want it to be closer to the m9 I carried for 21 years in the military.

This may be a dumb question, but why do you close your nondominant eye when shooting? I was always trained to shoot with both eyes open when not using magnified optics so that I could be more aware. But, you usually have a pretty well-thought-out reason for most things you do, so I was curious if this was just a preferential difference or if it is better to do one or the other.
