I had heard the rumors and rumblings about things taking months. I decided what I wanted, gathered and filled out the paperwork, got it notarized and sent it in. Six days later, I had a Garand!
Lucky. I waited months back in like 2016
6 days you shitting me? What grade did you get? I waited 5 months and barely got it 2 weeks ago.
yeah they are shipping really fast, it's awesome!
It all depends when & what you order. You order a more popular rifle like a service grade Springfield, after people get their tax returns, you're probably going to be waiting a while. Order a rack grade Winchester in December, you'll probably get it in a few days.
They had a massive backlog during covid. It took me about 6 months to get mine in 2021. Now, it's a lot shorter.
Oh hey I'd just like to add that the CMP gauges and function fires everything that leaves the facility so you know you're getting a safe, functional rifle. Also they have physical locations in Anniston, AL, Talladega, AL and Port Clinton OH. You can walk out the same day with an M1 if you bring the 3 documents!
Not always. They may do it with service grade and better but the rack grade I bought wasn't gauged; or at the very least they didn't put the readings on the tag. Everything is still functional- the safety moves as it should that locks in position, the op-rod isn't damaged, spring looks good, it fires/cycles properly and is still acceptably accurate.
@@PoliticallyInsensitivesame. My rack grade came with an unmarked tag
@@PoliticallyInsensitive Agree purely based on the description provided for rack grade. Rust and pitting and bore darkening are mentioned, so calling it "safe [and] functional" could be a bit misleading.
The rack grade they sent me had the most rusted out POS barrel I've ever seen. The piston head on the end of my op rod broke off when I was function testing the rifle myself. I was not impressed with what the CMP sent me, but have since fixed it up using a match grade barrel and a new old stock op rod and turned it into a pretty great rifle.
@@Cman2ptO 700$ though can’t beat that
My old man got an M1 from the CMP back in the 1980s. I was a little kid then but I still remember how excited he was when the wooden box box came. We lived in a pretty anti-gun city where it later became illegal to get firearms shipped directly to your house. My old man is long dead (through no fault of the M1) but I still have a great time down at the range with it.
I have to use an out door feeding center for my pew babies that feed on 30-06. Luckily our local indoor center allows me to feed everything else we own.
Glad you still have it. My old man sold all of his guns before he croaked.
It's illegal everywhere to have guns shipped to your door lmao unless you have an ffl on file for that property's address.
Edit: Unless you have a c&r license. Otherwise, it's impossible.
@@RejectReality97Did you watch this video?
@RejectReality97 that's not true. Mine was shipped to my house and Im not a ffl
I dig this kid. He looks like a 20 year old but talks like a 40 year old vet lol
Talks smarter then a vet

For those of you in California, just make a copy of your Firearm Safety Certificate and that works for "Participation" part here
I'm Shocked, Shocked I tell you. Thanks for this info.
Freaking. Awesome.
no ffl required in California?
@@dlvmark There is a banner on CMP website saying they do not market to minors under 18 in CA. But I would be surprised if no FFL is involved. Maybe because they are C&R rifles?
It still has to be shipped to an FFL and picked up after DROS & 10day wait because CA is pupu.
Got mine from CMP in '08. 1944 Springfield w/1946 Springfield barrel. Service grade nice metal black ugly USGI wood. Turned out the wood was gorgeous under the dirt and grease and cosmoline. Fantastic rifle. I'd do it again.
i go to cmp often and they had a very rare sniper variant of the m1 garand it was the first one i picked up and they were very worried they said ohhhh that one shouldnt be out front ahhahaah
@@slipp420 M1C or M1D, do you know?
Lucky. My receiver is from mid '43 and Barrel is IHC. Wood was brand new though as it was refinished by CMP.
I just received my M1 in expert grade. I finished the new stock which was beautiful wood. New barrel because I’m going to use it like any other gun I have. About 3 weeks. I am retired military which fulfilled my club affiliation.
How long did yours take? I sent in my paperwork about a month ago and haven’t heard back yet
About three weeks.
If you don’t mind how much was the expert grade? I want to buy one just want to know how much I’m going to have to spend.
bro back in like.. 2004 i could walk around a gun show in AZ and get an m1, an ak.. an old ass mauser with a crate of ww2 ammo all for like $500 lmfao
feel sorry for the younger crowd, you missed out on more than just houses
😭😭😭
Can’t forget the standard $99 SKS.
I have all these things and a house and im 32
They got all those participation trophies though!
@@BR-hh1bb i have a 10" dick, what's your point?
If you're close to one of the stores, go in person. They might have stuff that's not on the website. I was shooting the CMP games and stopped by the store (port clinton) on the way out. They brought out a half dozen 1903a3's. I snatched one up, they were all gone in less than a minute.
I live 40 mins from the south store and the cmp marksmanship park is 15 down the road
Wow.
My brothers in the Navy and he's always wanted an M1 Garand, I am sending this video to him ASAP! Thank you for sharing!
If he wants a historical navy one they actually have some from the Navy in 308. They're further down the list and there are 2 variants. Very cool collector pieces, but one of the variants are not entirely safe and you have to sign an affidavit
Behind enemy lines in NJ. Going to get me an M1!
Thankfully it’s not a scary black “assault weapons”. Libs haven’t figured out yet the power and destruction of 30-06 😂😂😂
A great weapon , i took basic training with the M14 in 308 or 7.62 51. When i entered vietnam i was issued the MATEL/ TONKA COLT/ HORSE in M-16. 4th ARMORED recon.
Thank you for serving.
The CMP dates back as you said to the early 20th century, and along with the NRA, were government sponsored groups to provide civilians with opportunities to learn and hone their marksmanship skills should they be called to military service.
The NRA for example came about after the civil war, as it was determined that southern were better shots than northern soldiers. It was attributed to their upbringing around guns. So the NRA was about teaching people to shoot should they be drafted
They taught yankees to shoot southerners. Nra has never been our friend.
Theyve backed EVERY major anti gun bill.
Thanks for this brother. Army Vet here and lifetime member of the VFW so I have no excuse for not having a Garand on the wall. I still don’t understand how it can be shipped straight to your house but I ain’t complaining! 🤣
He mislead everyone. It can’t be shipped to your house. He did that so more people would watch the video. Either way, it’s the cheapest way to get a Garand and you better do it before they’re eventually gone. The more the word spreads the supply will eventually dry up.
@@VitalArms mine was shipped to my house. I'm not special
@@jawknee21 maybe with an ffl, but if you aren’t mentioning that in any capacity.. you are 100% misleading people. Not all of us are gullible.
@@VitalArms mine was delivered TO my front door with no ffl involvement. Just had to be over 18 years old to sign for it.
Thank you for breaking this down. I really wanted a M1, but I thought it was unattainable. I can do THIS. I really do appreciate this. Take care and God bless!
Dude. I’ve been wanting to do this for years but the website and paperwork were always daunting. You’re the man.
I heartily support and agree that the American People must become involved in our Second Amendment, and as a sixty year old Veteran, I've been involved with 'CMP' for many decades.
Thank you for taking the time and going through the process!
You're the king for spreading awareness of this glorious cultural gem.
My CMP experience was great, my Garand is a finely restored rifle.
I knew the cmp had a way of getting m1’s to people but I never knew how until you laid it out just like this. I will be doing my paperwork soon and getting one! Thank you
Great info that dispels a lot of fears, concerns, craziness, etc. about the CMP. I got my first Garand from them about 25 years ago and acquired many other guns from them over the years. I think the golden age of deals from the CMP are over but it’s still the best game in town for M1’s and just a great organization for promoting marksmanship!
They are not the same any more not even govt
Got mine a couple years ago. Definitely an easy process with the CMP.
Very good, concise video. You nailed it! I just subscribed.
Great video. I ordered an expert grade and it arrived to my door a few weeks later. Such a great rifle to have in anyone’s collection.
Subbed, I had never heard of CMP until I came across this channel. Thanks for all the shout outs and kind words toward Paul Harrell, he's the only other guntuber I've subbed to. You seem kinda like a younger version :)
Just looked at the website. They're sold out of almost everything. They want $500 for a drill rifle. And $800 for a non working rifle for display. Ridiculous.
Yea thanks to soy boy gunfleuncers always shitting the gun market
Love that you break this down for everyone. Thank you so much for this valuable service. The purpose of the DCM and then the CMP was for every American to become proficient and you are keeping in that spirit. Got mine in 2021. Took a while but was totally worth it, a beautiful and accurate Service Grade SA from the Korean War era. The club I used was the RWVA, having attended an Appleseed shoot (Highly recommended due to the skills it will impart to a beginner, and it qualifies as proof of marksmanship to boot). Don't know how it is now, but you used to be able to put a post-it with your rifle preference (Springfield, H&R, Winchester, etc., WWII era, Korean War era, etc.) on top of your application, and they would try to fill your request (no guarantees, of course - Winchesters are rare). Good luck everyone and hope to see you on the range!
@JaredAF1 Awesome! Do I get spam and malware for the rest of my life from your giveaway?
I got my M1-D through other means, but I've been aware of the CMP for many years, and I completely agree with their mission, and from what I've heard this guy has the meat of the issue correct. Stamp of approval, carry on! 💯
I am glad you brought up the CMP program. I had gone to purchase an M1 Garand years ago and thought, but I don't belong to any CMPs! I looked through ALL of the PRo 2A and Pro Constitutional Orgs I belong to and my range, 3 are CMP. I went for purch'ing but then they were low on any "good" grades. Anyway, now, getting back into getting!
Thanks for spreading the word about this.
Love the M1, awesome video buddy.
I just want to say , you did an awesome job of walking us through this process step by step. I couldn't ask for it to have been any better done. Thanks again.
I got mine in the early 90's. It was $165 at the time. I got an amazing rifle, shot it in matches, still love it today. After a month refinishing the wood, getting all the nicks, bumps and stacking damage steamed out, it looks almost new to this day.
I had no idea it was this simple. I’m an active reservist so it’s literally a matter of filling out the form, photocopying my military ID and getting the form notorized. I’m definitely getting an M1.
I'm really liking your style. Always bringing useful info. Thx
As always Thanks for the video!!
Awesome information!
Thank you very much! On my way to owing an M1 Garand
Very good rundown young man! Thank you!
Been wanted to get one of these. Thanks for the video
One of my favorites now, legendary hand gunner
Excellent, concise presentation. Thank you.
Very straight and to the point . Thanks
Thank you for getting this information out. Really enjoy your content btw
Doin' the Lord's work, my man
EXCELLENT instructional video!!! Thank you!!!
Great video Dude !!!!!!!
Well done sir! I've been wanting an M1 for quite some time. The perceived obstacles aren't nearly as bad as I thought. Thanks!
Great video. Thank you so much for the step by step instructions.
Thanks for sharing!
AWESOME INFORMATION AND PRESENTATION, SUPER THANKS!
Blessed video.
Excellent video! Earned a subscriber!
I'm glad I picked one up in 2018. They only get more valuable and harder to get! The CMP is great to deal with. I got a CMP special with a new criterion barrel and stock. It shoots quite well.
That's when I got my first one and it was also a special. Filled out the packet in the 29 Palms base library
Thank you Jared
Great video bud
Now I have an excuse to get an garand again. Awesome video bro, thanks! 🙌🙌🙌
Great info thnx so much!!
Thank you.
Awesome! Thank you!!!
I built my Garand from the receiver up. 72XXX with a 7.62 barrel. Like it so much that I have a six digit and going to barrel it the same!
Thank you very much really good info
Thanks!
awsome info. thanks
Nice work 😊
Great video.
Great info thx 👊
Explained well.
Excellent video kind sir.
Funny, i work right beside the cmp. I need to do this
If thats the case you can actually just walk right up to the physical store
Got my Special Rack through the CMP during the quarantine. A great shooter, got here quickly (though I still had to use an FFL because CA). All I did was join the Grand Collector's Association and take a combat shotgun course (any marksmanship related activity will do, doesn't have to be with a rifle).
Always good to find another fan of Joe Bishop.
Thank you for sharing
Thank you
super thanks
Great video
Thanks Brother
Thanks for this, brother 🙏
Here me out but we're at $700 +$35 + $competition/training fee.
We're probably looking at over 800 easy for a okay rifle.
one of the best weapons ever made.
Thanx for information
thank you sir
E-5 for the win boys!

Thanks
And love the new logo
Sounds good
I did this over 30 years ago. At the time it was described as "$185.00 and a long wait." It was a long wait, but at this point I really don't remember how long it took.
At the time, you needed to participate in 2 sanctioned high power rifle matches, and be a member of a CMP affiliated club. The minimum score was 0 because if you scored less than that, and this would tend to put a stop to the process. There was no "choose your grade" you got what you got.
I just seen the Subscribe button glow when you did your call to action, I rewinded and it did it again! That's so cool!
NOt complaining ....but mine took 4 months ....just delivered overnight ....I haven't seen it yet.,cuz Im at work !!! Thanks for the video !
how much was the total cost?
@@andiamocclash397 Membership doesn't count if you are military or police, but joining the club he mentioned is like $30. The M1 itself is around $1200. In total its far cheaper than just buying one online or at a store/gun show.
Edit: they have a cheaper "rack grade" (used or probably much older) M1 for $700. Its at the top of their order list.
Thank You
Great video 👍🏼🥃🇺🇸
I refused to do all that unnecessary paperwork and requirements , so i just went to my local FFL and bought my Garand. It took less than an hour . I got to handle many , and choose the one of my liking.
Liked and Subscribed!
Thanks man. I will do this; I would love to own a M1 Garand. I have to check and make sure I did the correct training, I-1623, I have done a few different classes, should be fine.
Doing this!
I got 2 via CMP, paid $400 for one and $500 for the other. Pretty cool they are allowed to ship directly to you and not have do a transfer at an FFL.
This video is concise as hell, they really just need you to make a video for the CMP website. Not really sure why I watched the video, I already have my rack grade M1 but yeah, great video.
legend, thank you for doing this. Barney style was necessary for me :D
Bruther thank you
Watched to the end just to find out it still gets needs to get shipped to an FFL as I'm in NJ. damn
you had me at "break it down barney style"
