This was my saving grace on this 17th anniversary of September 11th. I was depressed, given the deaths and my own experiences in Iraq. But this lifted me up. Thanks Adam and Norm. And I guess thanks to Kenny.

Ruby is my 90 year old mother's favorite song because her name is Ruby. The only concert we ever went to together was Kenny Rogers when I was a kid. Never occurred to me what this song was about until I heard this breakdown. I never had the heart to explain to Mom who Ruby was and what she was up to.

The best part is Kenny confirming years later in the podcast that he did deliberately put in the Gatlin Brothers in the song (real music group touring with him at the time) as a joke.
Definitely my favorite radio bit ever and that's saying a lot considering how many great moments Carolla has had on air. Best thing is that this was unscripted. Who knew so much gold was in a breakdown of a couple of old Kenny Rogers songs? And I love Theresa's reactions when she realized just how dark these songs were.

I was so glad when the Carolla radio show went off the air that he started the podcast right after that. Who knew at the time he'd still be doing it and doing it successfully.
Corolla is the only other comedian smart enough to make Norm laugh. This is one of my favorite comic bits. Norm and Adam should have worked together. Comic gold.

This was truly lightening in a bottle. That Gatlin bros-kenny rogers thing was not a coincidence. Carolla interviewed larry gatlin a few years ago and there's a pretty interesting story behind it.

Carolla is a funny dude but he spends a lot of time with lame, unfunny people like Ben Shapiro these days.
He wrote an entertaining book called “Not Taco Bell Material”. It’s a great insight into his childhood, etc. I also loved his movie “The Hammer”.
