He had a piece of paper with a few words on it and he was just so off cuff yet KILLING IT! He said he had the most fun doing Schneider films (even moreso than Adam Sandler films, which were talked about in the same bit), because he said Ron gave him the most leeway and just let him riff as much as he wanted. It was almost a Sandler diss, I guess indirectly implying that Sandler was more of a perfectionist type that ran the show, and therefore not as much fun to work for. That was one of the most refreshing and rare things about Norm - his honesty about people and situations. he was usually tactful enough, but he had an easy bluntness and didn't beat around the bush or dodge things like most actors and show biz people do. They are just so scared to piss off the wrong person, they never actually say anything real. Norm was always real.
@@saintejeannedarc9460 Funny that you mention that. I just rewatched the Sandler, Norm, and Adam Eget episode of Norm Live and Norm said something during the convo that gave the vibe about Sandler dictating the scene for a movie (starring the classic Happy Madison crew) as if he where the director (when there was a separate official director). It is also interesting hearing a few remembrances for Norm mention him as being a perfectionist. It's weird comparing that information to how these guys appeared so laid back in their typical roles.
How could he divulge Norm having cancer if he didn't know about it? What i got from Schneider was him saying that norm was a gambling addict that owed him 25 grand but he let it slide. Then he mentions norm having something in his bathroom that he shouldn't have had, and THEN he talks about addicts and says but you don't think someone will die from it ( addiction). Wtf!

Norm Macdonald was a great comedic talent, I always liked how he would deliver the punch line of his jokes. There will never be another Norm Macdonald.
I love how he was able to keep his illness just between his Mom, brother and son. Good for him. Of course, people are blind at times, they joke about weight or lack of weight, they just don't see. You can see it but not if you don't want too. His mom's pain had to be awful, no parent wants to lose a child. I love the videos between them.
How hilarious is it that Norm's brother was a news corrrespondent at a major network in Canada at the same time Norm is doing weekend update on American television and killing it! 😂
"We appreciate you letting us into your lives" struck me so much that, I choked up, again... It just flooded my mind with the memory of realizing how much it means to people to care. I understand why Norm didn't tell his friends, because I do it too...
All the other shit he said too, was dumb. Norm did sitcoms, movies, regular on the most popular late night shows, great standup career, all kinds of shit. Adam is a moron, is all I can say after his words.
When Schnieder started talking about "Norm had his demons" I could just hear Norm saying in feigned shock, "'Norm had his demons'!? I'm not even in the ground and you're telling millions of strangers about my demons?!"
A great interview in Washington Post. Norm was quirky, everyone says that, had some mental issues, but lovable as hell and a little OCD. Didn't matter, we all have issues but he lived his life the way he wanted. He didn't drink or use drugs though. His gambling was enough.
I recently fell in love with Norm all over again. His Weekend Updates and The Norm Show, A minute with Stan Hooper...are all online. I’d fall asleep to Norm playing for the last couple of months. A comic master who never seemed to care about stardom
He was the Charlie Parker, “Bird”, of comedy. One of a kind, one of the best ever. I especially loved it when the audience didn’t get it…because once you tuned into Norm, got on his wavelength, you ALWAYS got it…because you got him. Letterman said it best when he said, “He exuded comedy.” Your internal laugh engine just started up when he took the stage…you just got ready because you knew it was coming…. I never saw him live but I will deeply miss him.
If all the world's a stage and some of us must be stage hands while people like Norm lived his part as a jester, japing and barding. He played his part well and with honesty and grace. Bravo!!
I HAVE BINGED ON NORM UA-camS FOR YEARS. LETTERMAN, O'BRIEN AND MILLER LAPPED UP HIS HUMOR AND NORM KEPT FEEDING THEM. HE EVEN ROASTED CLINTON, ALONG WITH NUMEROUS OTHER WASHINGTON TYPES. HE MADE ME LAUGH AND NOW HE'S MAKING ME CRY...RIP.
Thank you for doing such a great tribute. Having been born in the 90s I discovered Norm second hand from fan clips on UA-cam (SO to I’m not Norm channel). Hopefully now that his legacy is in the hands of the people rather than networks/corporations his genius will continue to be better appreciated. RIP to a comedy legend.
We listened to you and Norm talk about Kenny Rogers last week, the first time for us, and before Norm passed. So glad to hear you both laugh. Anytime you hear him laughing at other people's jokes you know that there are at least two comic geniuses in the room.
There were times that he was wearing multiple layers of clothes, even when it was warm. Sometimes he was sweating or had bad color. People accused him of doing drugs. Now we know. He never gave the explanation. He wanted privacy. I remember he was on a morning show and the host said, Norm, man, you are sweating, are you on drugs? If he was, there were likely cancer medications. He just wanted to continue doing what gave his life meaning. Respect. Databyter
They shouldn't say there were drugs on counter without context. He was trying to keep pain at bay. Leukemia is painful, but he said it like he was an addict. I just read a book by a woman who fought his disease and got a bone marrow transplant. It was harrowing before, during and after. I give him credit for doing all he did
Only 2 celebs I can think of where I was actually bummed out when I hear they passed Norm MacDonald and Steve Irwin. I always liked the way he did things his way and never being phony.
My favorite, been hard for me to watch his clips knowing he is gone.... Hurt a lot. But it helps knowing other people loved his art as I have. Love You Normy RIP
Norm Macdonald was one of a kind. He had a very unique style and personality. He stood out of the pack because in an industry where everyone sounds the same and is copying each other he was unique, even though he was probably influenced and/or copying comics and entertainers from the 1940's, 1950's and 1960's. There is some Dean Martin in his style and delivery that made him easy to watch and listen.
If you want to see Norm at his best .go to Howard Stern clip of the jungle War joke .so much talent .all is letterman,Conan visits were great .a joy to see on stage, big screen and tv.was truly taken back by this brothers passing .not like most celebraties with the biz but gave us that show.Father, storyteller, comedian, entertainer but a good guy to anyone I've ever heard talk about him.RIP Norm and thank you for using your gift
I think its unacceptable that the only tributes I'm seeing to Norm is old has-been comedians speaking on how much they loved him on Podcasts, and @sparkleforest posting all his stuff. He deserves more. He deserves way better.
Norm was that ghost ship that appeared through mist without a warning, fired a salvo, and then slipped back into the fog leaving you laughing before you knew what hit you.
When Norm last appeared on Spade's late night show, it was obvious he was 'sick.' I only just saw it yesterday, but from seeing people with cancer before, it was obvious he was in the late stages of it.
I think if anyone really liked him or cared, they'd see it. I see it with people I don't know that well. When it's all about you, you don't see it. He didn't have close buddies but his manager knew and he had enough confide in without needing superficial friends. Even with Robin Williams, you had to see his disintegration. His last movie, they all said they saw things. Care, IDK?
I realized how deep of a mind Norm had when he said something along the lines of "no one wants to hear comedy from someone smarter than you." Who knew, keeping his secret this whole time that time he was really trying to teaching us a much deeper lesson: "no one wants to hear comedy out of a tumor riddled old man."
Maybe his “engine” for show biz wasn’t so hot because he’s been fkn sick guys and he still had two shows and a special on Netflix try living with bowel cancer for a decade
Hey let's remember Norm by talking about his addiction problems and then promote are own podcast on the day he died. Robs a funny guy but damn. Norm is a legend, RIP.
He had gambling but never drank or did drugs although he joked so much about it people didn't see it. Even on stage, he had "fake liquor". I admire that about him. He didn't tempt the addiction god with anything else.
@@deb9806 not so ... he drank, he smoked weed. He lied about those things, it was another bit. He'd say I don't drink and in the same conversation - talk about drinking a beer. Lots of people talk about getting high with Norm (weed). The breadcrumbs were all there, he told stories to fit the moment ...
Many comedians come and go, but Norm is one those guys, that has a ledgend to him, even before his death. Many many comedians have tall tales, and stories of Norm. Norm's didn't get "bigtime money fame" but he had the respect of his peers, and loyal fans, for not being a sell out, which makes him even more famous.
I think his lane should have been concentrating on the video podcast with Adam Eget with control over content, a shame the way it worked out with Netflix don't think they should have ever moved from the original format but understandable with what was on offer. Adam Eget mentioned they were going to do a podcast again, think i googled "norm macdonald podcast " once a week hoping for a start date. So sad i won't get to see new episodes of that.

"We appreciate you letting us into your lives" struck me so much that, I choked up, again... It just flooded my mind with the memory of realizing how much it means to people to care. I understand why Norm didn't tell his friends, because I do it too...
Lol...Adam says Norm never found his lane. He found all of the lanes.
@Bryan Hacker LOL. Perfect. Adam disappoints. Bit of a poser.
All the other shit he said too, was dumb. Norm did sitcoms, movies, regular on the most popular late night shows, great standup career, all kinds of shit. Adam is a moron, is all I can say after his words.
I think he found his own dirt road and didn’t care to drive down lanes already paved by others
I mean I sorta agree, Norm didn't really have a lane. I'm not sure his style really allowed for a "lane". That was really his gift.
Norm was the lane
When Schnieder started talking about "Norm had his demons" I could just hear Norm saying in feigned shock, "'Norm had his demons'!? I'm not even in the ground and you're telling millions of strangers about my demons?!"
😆
... next thing He's gonna tell Everybody that I'm a chronic masterbator
... Can't a Guy have a hobby ?
Hahaha I read that in his shocked voice
A great interview in Washington Post. Norm was quirky, everyone says that, had some mental issues, but lovable as hell and a little OCD. Didn't matter, we all have issues but he lived his life the way he wanted. He didn't drink or use drugs though. His gambling was enough.
@@deb9806 you don’t know what he did or didn’t do. Only he knows.
Lols.. Schneider's impression was wonderful.. I miss that guy.. RIP Norm..
I recently fell in love with Norm all over again. His Weekend Updates and The Norm Show, A minute with Stan Hooper...are all online. I’d fall asleep to Norm playing for the last couple of months. A comic master who never seemed to care about stardom
It sucks that he removed his podcast from UA-cam. It was so good. Every episode was hilarious... If only he would have lost the douchebag
Wow! Norm was one of the greatest! We'll all miss him immensely!
So many great memories with norm on the pod
One of the Best Comics all time. We will miss you Norm. More than you know. Best of luck in the great beyond. Leave them laughing 🙏
Bravo!!
He was a brilliant comedian. His jokes sometimes wouldn't hit me till a minute later, his delivery and cadence were so unique.
Gifted genius.. the Michael Jordan of comedian s. I love norm and he made me laugh harder then any comedian willl ever. I’m going to miss him
God I keep (re) binge watching Norm's old stuff, and then I hear this and God, it's a gut punch all over again. RIP Norm
Don't forget Stern
Thank you for doing such a great tribute. Having been born in the 90s I discovered Norm second hand from fan clips on UA-cam (SO to I’m not Norm channel). Hopefully now that his legacy is in the hands of the people rather than networks/corporations his genius will continue to be better appreciated. RIP to a comedy legend.
We listened to you and Norm talk about Kenny Rogers last week, the first time for us, and before Norm passed. So glad to hear you both laugh. Anytime you hear him laughing at other people's jokes you know that there are at least two comic geniuses in the room.
The fantastic 4 bit is amazing. Much of that album is very great and especially Tex hooper.
God dang, this is hard to listen too. It’s been awhile and I still tear up…Norm you got us all!😂😔
Thanks for posting this. Norm is my favorite comedian. :{
That bit he did with Carolla breaking down Kenny Rogers lyrics was hilarious.
How right you are, I've listened to it time and time again. Never gets old.
Or is it Gatlin boys?
@@johnnytightlips2716 🤣
dude good call back..that was hilarious
Thanks, I'd never heard that before. HILARIOUS!!!
A true legend Norm was one of a kind ...I miss him already RIP gone but never forgotten
I loved Norm's portrayal of 'Death' in Family Guy... I also loved the guy who replaced him as that character.. Adam something? lol
I give him credit for doing all he did
A true comedian/ writer who's currency was gifting others
rest in peace
Only 2 celebs I can think of where I was actually bummed out when I hear they passed Norm MacDonald and Steve Irwin. I always liked the way he did things his way and never being phony.
My favorite, been hard for me to watch his clips knowing he is gone.... Hurt a lot. But it helps knowing other people loved his art as I have. Love You Normy RIP
he's dead?! I didn't even know he was sick! RIP to the GOAT.
He made you laugh harder than anyone and then he was gone. On the other hand he battled cancer. At least he wasn't a crybaby. Sad day for comedy.
Those are THE most annoying side kicks. The less they say, the better the shows. Just being honest.
It’s not always for us
I tolerate Gina for two reasons, but Brian brings nothing to the show.
@@harryseaward3408 well, he’s a big boob, too. :)
They're annoying as hell consistently! We tolerate them for Adam only.
Having a hard time with Norm’s passing. Watching a couple hours of clips everyday since he passed. I feel like I lost a friend.
Me too :(
My favorite comic. The Bob Saget roast is legend.
I laughed harder at his jokes than any other roast ive heard. Couldn't believe he did it.
🐐” I didn’t know what to get my Mexican Gardner for his birthday. So I let him still my identity”. -Norm Macdonald
Very respectful. Thank you
The hardest I’ve ever laughed in my life was listening to the GOAT Norm MacDonald
Kinda wild that both Macdonald and Corolla voiced the character “Death” on Family guy.
Pound for pound the funniest man on earth!
Unfortunately at the end he weighed WAY fewer pounds.
@@docd2295 is that supposed to be an attempt at a joke? Don't quit your day job.
@@docd2295 F U buddy
Never thought I would lose him this year.
One of, if not my favorite, he tickled a funny bone DEEP inside, where no others reached like he did.
How could anyone not know he was sick and then got better, and then sick again. RIP Genius
Norm is with a lot of good company right about now.....we lost too many this year,...61 is waayy too young,...my father left us in March at 91.
If you want to see Norm at his best .go to Howard Stern clip of the jungle War joke .so much talent .all is letterman,Conan visits were great .a joy to see on stage, big screen and tv.was truly taken back by this brothers passing .not like most celebraties with the biz but gave us that show.Father, storyteller, comedian,
entertainer but a good guy to anyone I've ever heard talk about him.RIP Norm and thank you for using your gift
I think its unacceptable that the only tributes I'm seeing to Norm is old has-been comedians speaking on how much they loved him on Podcasts, and @sparkleforest posting all his stuff. He deserves more. He deserves way better.
Norm MacDonald was a gift to the world.
THE GREATEST COMEDIAN OF ALL TIME
This makes me reflect a little. Good to see that Bald Bryan is hanging in there
Norm was that ghost ship that appeared through mist without a warning, fired a salvo, and then slipped back into the fog leaving you laughing before you knew what hit you.
Read Norm's book. It's brilliant on so many levels.
Care, IDK?
That's so wierd, 1 day before he died I had to pull up and show some of his stand up to a friend and got in a loop. Then found out the next night
Trying to reconcile good and evil in my own body, hope he made it to some form of Heaven.
He did.
I realized how deep of a mind Norm had when he said something along the lines of "no one wants to hear comedy from someone smarter than you." Who knew, keeping his secret this whole time that time he was really trying to teaching us a much deeper lesson:
"no one wants to hear comedy out of a tumor riddled old man."
Maybe his “engine” for show biz wasn’t so hot because he’s been fkn sick guys and he still had two shows and a special on Netflix try living with bowel cancer for a decade
Binge-watching Norm on UA-cam, thanks guys/gal.
Hey let's remember Norm by talking about his addiction problems and then promote are own podcast on the day he died. Robs a funny guy but damn. Norm is a legend, RIP.
i think its brought up because norm was an enigma. he cast a spell on everyone and we didn't realize it till he left.
He had gambling but never drank or did drugs although he joked so much about it people didn't see it. Even on stage, he had "fake liquor". I admire that about him. He didn't tempt the addiction god with anything else.
Rob shouldn’t have told that story. It’s nobody’s business what Norm had in his bathroom.
@@iped1811 He didn't put it in context either, not knowing he was sick for a long time. He wouldn't understand them either.
Artie Lange has many hilarious stories from hanging out with Norm. RIP LEGEND
"I hope they're doing drugs" - Norm referring to Farley and Andy Dick in the bathroom together
Would somebody get 15 bucks and go to the bottom of Queensbridge and tell Adam Eget about this 😢
For 30 can I get a double?
Adam down there jerking off punks $15 a man.. Love you Norm.. Thanks for the laughs.. 😂
@@dmsteele92831 bro! Take it easy on the lad! Actually he’d probably be happy to comply 😂
I will always love Norm.
Good to see you get Adam's name right. Eget, like the bird.
Back to the bridge for poor Adam
Norm was a comedic genius who played the everyman who never read a book.
As a Canadian and of course a Norm fan, thanks for that video.
