There is a youtuber- Northlawn Flower Farm- that has a video of making a Christmas tree decorated completely with dried flowers. It's is a beautiful effect.
I love when you stop and share with us what is happening in the background, especially the alpacas since they seem so curious. I also enjoy seeing your dogs accompanying you. I see many flower farmers asking how do you keep your dogs out of the fields, you seem to embrace that. That’s nice.
You should look in to , you can’t eat the grass. She dry everything. I mean EVERYTHING! And in bouquet everything looks stunning and colourful… a dry zinnia can be a questionable thing 😉 but in arrangement, it’s beautiful… and it’s like that with many flowers and plants. But go watch them 👍🏽😊
try to put scabiossa in vase ( upside ) rather then drying heads down ( it naturally curls and gives amazing result ) , glad you mentioned packaging - 3 years selling dried flowers and still struggling to get it right
You should do a workshop on dried flower arrangements. Popular now in the U.S.A. Is line drawings of women’s head and class members affix dried flowers to the head, very artistic.
You can dry the dahlias, zinnias in a stand up manner…use your green sifter to drop the stems into so the disc head is supported and let them dry upright.
I use a dehumidifier in my drying area to speed up drying. You could also have one in the shipping container during the fall and winter to keep everything from getting moldy..:)
I tried drying zinnias out of curiosity throughout this year and each time I am not happy w the result to save for dried flowers. So I'm using them for future seed and for petal ornaments and book markers
Really enjoyed this video. Actually I say that about all your videos 😁. I live in New Zealand, so my garden is bare at the moment. Spring almost here. I've had great success drying pompom dahlias. The red and deep purple come up very strong colours. They do shrink, so go for bigger size rather than smaller. I'm still fighting against growing straw flowers as they remind me too much of the 70s, where I hated them in my grandparents house 😄
Must be nice to see videos of flowers during your winter season! I like seeing posts from growers ‘down under’ in winter. I love the helichrysum, especially to use fresh.
Hi, Im from ohio in the states. I have loved your channel, and watching you in your shop and garden. Can you tell me if you use anything to spray your dried flowers to keep them long lasting, I have seen some people professionals using Crowning Glory flower spray and consumers possibly using hair spray. Any suggestions to a newbie?
Lovely informative video :) thank you! Maybe when you start to grow nigela we can grow it alongside you :) I really struggle growing a healthy plant of nigella for some reason. Same goes for rudbeckia and status. Will joint for grow with me type of video if you will make it :) oh and grasses of course! I love the eyelash grass that you are growing and drying. Really lovely
On the Victorian Flower Garden, episode 6, (on UA-cam), shows how the used to drench dry flowers in an alum solution to leave crystals on dry flowers. Not sure what the result looks like, never tried it.
I have pulled the petals off zinnias and just dried them on a flat tray . They keep their colour and look gorgeous. Could be confetti or used in soaps etc ?
Thank you so much for showing us the artichoke. We are now using artichokes in our bouquets and letting people know that the idea comes from you! Could you tell us at what stage you picked your atichoke for it to dry like this? Was it a closed bud that eventually opened or an already opened flower that dried out so beautifully? Thanks for all your great tips and videos!
HI Sarah, I've picked some Amaranth from the allotment, and put it in an arrangement, its only for home use, put fresh water in it and they were sticking up, when I picked it it was drooping lovely, was it something I did? it looked like it had been wired!
Thankyou for this lovely video, may I ask where you buy thee seeds for that great eyelash grass, I am in denmark and I can´t find the seeds. for drying dahlia and zinnia you get the best result drying them i sillica sand
My unpopular opinion is dried flowers are awful. I just cant get into them. They remind me of 1978. But hey!!! If I can offload extra stems to a wholesaler that actually likes that stuff, well SWEET!!! Id be into that!!! Your farm is beautiful as always!!! Thanks for all the info you provide!
You can’t eat the grass is a you tuber in Canada that dries all her bouquets that don’t sell at the farmers markets and they always carry some back to the farmers market and some always sell.check out her chanel
I may harvest some of that late down the line but I like to use it fresh, I also find that the heads go really floppy when dried and they’re not really useable!

Zinnias are lovely as pressed flowers, which can be used in jewelry and other crafts.

I believe it was a closed bud that opened. I remember being surprised that it carried on opening and flowering after I picked it and hung it up!
Hi Sarah, what is the yellow black and red turbine that we see in the background of your videos?
Mornin....which variety of nigella have you hung there...smashin!!!
I grew three or four varieties this year, Persian jewels, miss Jekyll rose, and Albion green pod 😊

What is the pink variety of Salocia that you grow? Thank you :)
How do you water all your flowers?

Tie it to the bloody fence as a punishment
