    I love dried arrangements. My husband and I went on a dried wildflower walk, some would say just weed picking., LOL. Then I assembled the most beautiful arrangement using the dark brown seed pods with dark stems in a muted pink vase that I found at a local thrift store. Soooo a gorgeous arrangement thanks to mother natures bounty and a little poking around at the thrift store......very satisfying!!!! I never thought of being an artist with ones medium as dried flowers, quite a lightbulb moment for me. Thanks for sharing the art.

    Oh Danielle this video was so helpful. I Love,Love, Love flower arrangements. Especially ones from my Garden. I must try to get the Everlastings book. I have dried mine hanging them up to dry and in a bucket with a little water. Both ways have worked for me. Thank you for all this wonderful information. So until next time God Bless you and your family and have a Blessed day and stay safe my dear and Special Friend. 💚🌻🦋

    I just got the book, Everlastings, after watching your video. Loving it! It's given me a new direction for my flower beds. Another reason to yearn for spring! Thank you for always inspiring me with something new. Strawflowers are definitely at the top of my list. They are so expensive to buy online, so I'm looking forward to growing my own stores for crafting.

    Gosh I was just going to say how I have Autumn Joy sedum in an arrangement with Little Quick fire hydrangea on my kitchen table and how I love it. Whew! I just checked for aphids and they look okay. I never put the sedum or hydrangeas in water, just cut them and put them in a vase to dry on their own a few wks ago. I guess I am lucky. Love the larkspur and Mexican bush sage.

    I have been enjoying drying flowers so much! I've been treating myself to Trader Joe's (DIY arrangements) and then drying them. I've always believed in reusing my flowers! I've been posting on Instagram, and having so much fun! One question I have for you is - do you apply anything to the dried flowers to further preserve them? I have not done so, but some are so delicate I think it would be helpful. My dried seeded eucalyptus is beautiful but you can barely touch it with out the seeds shedding .... Lovely video - watching now!

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Rachel! I dont spray mine with anything. I recall hearing eucalyptus is best used immediately. In other words- arrange with it fresh and let it dry in place. I believe silver dollar is the most reliable dried. I hope that helps!

    I'm interested in growing the Mexican bush sage. I'm zone 5-6. Where can you get it and how do you propagate it year to year?

  • @itsallaboutlight
    @itsallaboutlight 4 роки тому +1

    Hey, I cut some hydrangeas blooms (Endless Summer's "Original" variety.. grows on old wood) that had beautiful fall color. They felt somewhat dry on the bush. I didn't put them in water. They turned brown. I'm not sure what I did wrong. Was I supposed to keep them in water or hang them upside down or leave them on the bush or is there nothing I can do to keep that color in this variety? I'm so bummed, because I waited so long to cut them. We were about to have frost. Now I have to wait a whole year to get those blooms again 😢. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.
    On happier note, I bought the book "EVERLASTINGS" by Bex Partridge. I have just started reading it but the pictures and inspiration are worth the price of the book without reading it. 😂

    • @NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens
      @NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens  4 роки тому

      Hey Vanessa! I am so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you did everything right. The first thing I think of is - any chance the heads were wet when you picked them? Even with just early morning dew? That may have caused the browning.

    • @itsallaboutlight
      @itsallaboutlight 4 роки тому

      @@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens yes they may have been. I watered them right before I cut the blooms.

    Thank you so much for sharing all your tips. I too love growing Mexican sage, I was able to buy a few plants this year after several years of not being able to find it in zone 7 New Jersey. I was wondering did you ever grow it from seed and if you only grow from cuttings do you use rooting hormone thanks again

    Or just ridiculous we’re eating this summer bug laden in general and it just kills me because I love how beautiful they are especially in the summer and fall. I didn’t spray that but I think this year I might have to in order to be able to use them in bouquet. If you have another option that might work please tell me because I’d like to spray as little as possible even though I do use an organic spray If I would really need it
