Listening to Mechina always turns my mind back towards the simple things... Orbital bombardment. Taking a drop-pod down through your own bombardment. Power armor. Monomolecular blades. Cutting an assault mech down with a monomolecular blade. You know. Simple things.
This song had so much punch with the harsh vocals after being starved of it for a while... I had wished some of the great melodies we had in recent albums had the harsh vocals for variations though... Even if it was that deep, bassy, male A.I. voice from to coexist is to surrender or something. Mechina flexing it's variation is what drew me to it in the first place.
It's the nanosecond Dave roars through with "that they can also bleed" that turns my head into a god damn windmill. My neck aches already. The last 3 albums have been great, don't get me wrong, but there's something special about what Dave did on this song to take us back to the truest highs of MEchina, albums like Progenitor and Embers. More seriously, what a phenomenal storytelling song. After 3 albums building Virton as this nightmarish beast responsible for the death of untold billions and the destruction of an entire planet, to hear Alithea scream after severing his traitorous head from his body and bathing in his blood is so cathartic. You feel for her and everything she has suffered through. And now the revelation that Enyo somehow has a child and the implication seeming to be that she is the Titanborn of Hydrus? Impeccable. What a revelation. Take us deeper into the final conflict and tell me MORE. Give me 40 more songs just like this signature mix of everything they've ever done and let me die happily.
hI! I don´t know the band for so long time and I see that every song or album continues a big sci-fi story. Do you know where can I find some kind of summary of it? I don´t know if I have enough life left to read all the lyrics from the first album LOL
Mechina is not the way you described the style, it’s so that you completely understand their genre of music Symphonic Industrial Death Metal, well, this is so that you understand in a completely new way)))))
@@komet5420They typically release new albums on new year's day. They generate hype at the end of the year before the new album drops by singles or trailers.
@@komet5420Because Joe is a machine. This track might not be part of an upcoming album but the sound of the epic singles is usually close to the follow-up album. And after The World We Lost all the other singles did show up as parts of the albums so there's always the possibility that it could be an album opener. (Though personally I doubt it.)
It's not just Mel and Dave alternating in that really cool signature Mechina way, they each also display more variety and emotions in their vocals. The part at 9:13 legit gave me goosbumps even though I don't know the story, the raw vocals conveying those emotions in a way I haven't heard before from Dave was such good storytelling. Shoutout to Joe for being such a consistent songwriter and hard worker! Thank you all Ps: fuck yeah, death growls on Mechina songs
I totally missed this release for some reason, saw it on Bandcamp while listening to Compendium Progenitor. Obviously went over here to watch the video, too. The rolling drums, full force, at 2:10 made me grin so hard - back to the Acheron/Progenitor times, and I'm all for it! Don't get me wrong, the last albums were fun, but this song is why I fell in love with Mechina.
This song certainly doesn't feel like 18 minutes. Many of my past favorites, like To Coexist, are like that. I've been critical of a lot of the songs off the last few albums, but this is a glorious return to form.
YES!!! Mechina finally flexing it's variation again! This type of beautiful and raw contrast in its soundscapes is what drew me to it in the first place: The harsh vocals, the breathy tribal acapella, the synthy male and female vocals, and the mythic, booming, bassy, male A.I. voice!!! ...on instrumentals it was the raw rhythmical guitars contrasting with sweeping, catchy piano, violin, techy under-tones or full orchestral symphonies! I'll happily add this single to the growing list of unique masterpieces from my favorite band ever!!
This is fucking masterpiece!! So complex song... with another tale from Mechina world.. Love it so much! I love the balance between the harsh vocals and clean vocals... and those symphonic parts are perfect!
The dual vocals add so much depth. I love Mel's voice but the jumping back and forth between heavy and gorgeous is immensely and sorely missed from the last few albums.
Literally a PERFECT marriage of all this group's elements... I've enjoyed the past couple albums immensely, but this is a step up even from that. Thank you guys so much for your talent and passion, it really shows in your music. ❤
The variety of the song really comes through. personally I miss that mythic, deep, bassy male A.I. voice once in a while haha. The one from "to so-exist is to surrender."
Epic! Sound like old Mechina with new Mechina. And just for me i prefer the vocals separate, a littlie duo is fine but your vocal talents are best served standing on their own. Over all pure epic music!
This is the most epic shit ever conceived in the history of mankind. I don't know what other plane of existence I transcend to while I'm listening to this but I can't get enough of it. Also Mel and Dave together like this is just pure cosmic magic!
Jeusus Christ... When Dave made his entrance i instantly got teleported back to the world we lost, Acheron and Empyrean!!!! I hope the entire album will be like this!
So as a fan since Xenon, Like it alot. Miss Daves vocals, love Mels also but lets face it, Ashes of old Earth is amazing. I like the way they trade off like with Telesterion. Hope the record is more like this. Keep it up.
I saw somebody call Xenon "angsty," which I don't quite get. That whole album had them firing on all cylinders with everything that makes them Mechina: Dave's growls, his soaring autotuned sections, and (for the love of god) the orchestrals. Nowadays they're just synth soundscapes with Mel's vocals and no real structure. Hopefully this single is the first step toward what they used to be.
Joe, this is so fucking good. The best part for me is when the orchestrations "peak out" of the negative space between the djent riffs. Definitely a good song for motivation in the gym. Also, thanks for giving us a tour of the artwork during the video!
Randomly clicked on this cuz it was in my suggestions coming from a space banjo video. Really glad I did, Mechina has a new fan now. Surprised I haven't heard of them before tbh.
The audio is next-level, and the production is flawless. Your talent and creativity make each video an incredible experience to watch. let dave cook, been listening to mechina since 2011. his growls are so underrated in the metal community. (also everyone else in this band are underrated)
Finally, David is back. Holy shit. I was worried sick. I'd actually stopped listening to Mechina for almost two years because I thought he'd quit the band.
What a tuneeee🤘 best elements of Mechina in one long masterpiece song🤘 It's great to hear Dave again. Mel killing is as always so as maestro Joe. Love Mechina me.
This sounds like a return to form! Hope the new album will sound close to this! Great song, I like it better than most of what's on the last 2-3 albums. A bit too long as usual but you finally got the sound right! And Dave's harsh (and clean) vocals are back!

Thank god the growls and varied vocals are back!
Mechina isn't really Mechina without Dave Holsch's growls. Glad to have him back.
Fuck yeah 🤘
As much as I love Mel's vocals, I'm so glad we get at least one song with duo vocals
I love all the duo vocals so much, it sounds so good.
