@@JohnSanders I don't know if you like to eat beans...I love them. I just got through making a pot of Great Northern beans that taste great in the Ninja Foodi. Hey John! I'm new to the Foodi fam (like 2 days in) and I've only made Tyson chicken patties with the air fryer. This may be a silly question, but when you use the broil function... are you required to select a temp like you would on the air fryer setting? I'm looking forward to cooking a ribeye as you prepared it, but I'm super curious about the broil function in general. Also, I subscribed, so I hope you plan on posting more Foodi videos in 2021!
The broil function is not adjustable but it works really well... just use a instant read thermometer to get your perfect temp and this will be one of the best steaks you've ever ate...I guarantee it!!! Thanks for subscribing and please let me know what you think of the steak!!!
Title reads “AIR FRY” but you said you set the pot on broil, not only to heat up, but also to cook it. Mistake or broil all the way? Watch you vids all the time; great job, as always. Just curious about the discrepancy air fry or broil? Thanks 😊
It was set to broil all the way... sorry about that...I consider all settings as air fry I guess...lol... not sure all air fryers have a broil feature but it is the same thing as setting temp as high as it will go on any air fryer... imho...lol... thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the videos!!!
I honestly do not have a preference...I have shelves that make either of mine easy to store... if I had another storage situation it would probably depend on which one worked best for that situation... it is really hard to say on medium steak due to thickness etc...I would rely on a instant read thermometer and shoot for around 145 Fahrenheit or find the temp that worked best... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
I assure you you won't... it is an excellent way to cook steak and believe me ove got many methods... including sous vide and this one rivals them all !!! Thank you for watching and try this method and let me know!!
Not really and I will say that I often cook steaks using my sous vide device... it was just as good and had very similar look, texture and taste...I really think it is one of the best ways to cook a steak with way less preparation and time involved than any other method i do... thanks for watching!!!
I'd be tempted to dirty a fry pan first to get it seared then finish in airfryer. Thicker it is the lower the oven temp but for longer time. Like at least 1" thick steak.
I’ve seen in other videos about steaks that nothing compares to sous vide methods which cook the meat to precise temperature through and through in a plastic bag and then remove the bag and grill the outside briefly at the end. Any views about this?
Some of my earlier videos are on this and I will say I love what it does, it fits so edge to edge perfection and I use it quite often but for simplicity and time this method is pretty close... thanks for watching!!!
Good video on the cooking steak my question is where did you get those cordless thermometer and how much did you pay for it I've been looking for those?
That looks delicious. I’ve used my Vortex a few times now, and wow, there’s a learning curve as to time. Even though my regular oven has convection, the Vortex cooks it way faster. I tried making brownies, and used the temp suggested in the Vortex guide, but it didn’t work too well. Outside overdone and middle underdone in 20 minutes. Next time I’ll lower the temp.
Hey John, I just enjoyed watching your video, but I've gotta say, it drove me a bit nuts that you kept putting the arm of your yellow thermometer back in its storage place without wiping it off after you'd check the steak temp each time. The steak looked awesome!
That is good to hear...I honestly believe that air frying is the best way to cook a steak at home considering convenience and really excellently cooked steak!!! Thanks for watching!!!

I am sure it's a great steak but I just can not move from my Primo or cast iron just yet. Thanks for sharing I do enjoy your videos.
I understand Larry... but it ain't bad!!! I had second thoughts on those primes myself!!! Thanks for watching!!!
John, I really enjoy your videos! Do you prefer the Ninja or the Instant Pot Duo Crisp? Also how many minutes for a medium well steak?
I honestly do not have a preference...I have shelves that make either of mine easy to store... if I had another storage situation it would probably depend on which one worked best for that situation... it is really hard to say on medium steak due to thickness etc...I would rely on a instant read thermometer and shoot for around 145 Fahrenheit or find the temp that worked best... hope this helps and thanks for watching!!!
@@JohnSanders thank you, sir!
Great video John. Quick question: how much time should I set my foodie if I wanted a medium well steak? Thanks man!
I would try 16... but be sure to use a instant read thermometer if you have it to be sure... thank you for watching Lew!!!
12 mins at 400° make sure you pre heat it 10 min at 400°....if you have a meat thermometer let it cook to 138° in the center
Your steak looks good John! I tried to air fry mine at 375F before, and wasn't impressed. Want to try your method but worry about wasting money again.
I assure you you won't... it is an excellent way to cook steak and believe me ove got many methods... including sous vide and this one rivals them all !!! Thank you for watching and try this method and let me know!!
I almost took a chunk out of my phone when he brought it close to the screen. 🤤
I just cooked a thick ribeye in the foodi. It was delish.
It is a great way to do it!!! Thanks for watching!!!
u dont need salt... melaka kirim salam.. auto jadi kayu api
Awesome video ! That is a perfect looking medium rare steak. Did you get any grey area when cooking at high temp ?
Not really and I will say that I often cook steaks using my sous vide device... it was just as good and had very similar look, texture and taste...I really think it is one of the best ways to cook a steak with way less preparation and time involved than any other method i do... thanks for watching!!!
I’ll be cooking mine for 15 plastered in mustard 👍🏻
I'd be tempted to dirty a fry pan first to get it seared then finish in airfryer. Thicker it is the lower the oven temp but for longer time. Like at least 1" thick steak.
Who gets tired of charcoal or too afraid to grill while it's raining?
I guess that was a little drastic...lol...i love charcoal grilling and have done it in the rain a few times...thanks for watching!!!
John Sanders I really appreciate the advice. Thanks.
@@7heRedBaron No problem!!!
You choose broil fonction to cook on your Ninja ? Is that right?
Good video on the cooking steak my question is where did you get those cordless thermometer and how much did you pay for it I've been looking for those?
They are called Meater...made by apption lads...they are a little pricey...thanks for watching!
That is a good looking ice of meat!
It was very good...thanks for watching!!!
People in 2022 watching this man cook $150 steaks.
The Colonel would be proud
That looks delicious. I’ve used my Vortex a few times now, and wow, there’s a learning curve as to time. Even though my regular oven has convection, the Vortex cooks it way faster. I tried making brownies, and used the temp suggested in the Vortex guide, but it didn’t work too well. Outside overdone and middle underdone in 20 minutes. Next time I’ll lower the temp.
It cooks very quick.. an instant read helps a lot.. thank you for watching!!!
Hey John, I just enjoyed watching your video, but I've gotta say, it drove me a bit nuts that you kept putting the arm of your yellow thermometer back in its storage place without wiping it off after you'd check the steak temp each time. The steak looked awesome!
I did a port steak in my xl pro and omg it was like butter cutting in it.5.5 minutes on one side and 6.5 to give it more brown on top.Broil mode
I have the ninja foodi deluxe and my rack doesn't fit in the air crisp basket. But the steak is still mighty good.
That is good to hear...I honestly believe that air frying is the best way to cook a steak at home considering convenience and really excellently cooked steak!!! Thanks for watching!!!
