Poor G'kar! After all the well laid plans, the sheer GALL of the victim to die early! The twist that the Emperor's message to him literally shattered his entire world view
Yeah, if people keep living in the past and long for the past glory and their ego also in real life things like that will keep on happening. Though I do have the feeling the world isn't as unsafe as before(between the year 1618 and 1648 half of Europe died of war and famines and virus outbreaks).
No, the tragedy is that he couldn't have stopped the hatred. Even if he makes a public apology and GKar doesn't murder him, nothing substantive changes. The Narn and Centari aren't going to suddenly stop hating each other's guts, just as Nixon visiting China or Sadat visiting Israel magically changed the deep seated feelings of millions. All it would have been, is a gesture and a POSSIBLE first step. He would still have died in a short time, probably days. Refa and Molari are still going to use the Shadows to launch an attack. There will still be a Narn Centauri War.
@@nelsonchereta816 agree, mostly likely G'Kar probably won't have even let the emperor finish greeting him before G'kar stabbed him. G'Kar's reaction didn't actually match his character....though neither did him having an affair with one of Londo's wives..... I get him getting shocked to hear the emperor wanting to apologize, but well look at similar reactions towards empires who eventually gave up control of nations they conquered, the hatred that those people had towards those who conquered them didn't just die because of apologies or being given freedom by the empire without having to win a war to get their liberty back. Just didn't seem in his character to just immediately run to have a drink with Londo, other than to make the situation more tragic thinking what could have been avoided if Londo's actions hadn't already started the war.
Think how differently everything would have played out if the emperor hadn't had his heart attack. GKar assassinates him and either is killed or imprisoned. When Mollari and Refa pull their stunt Earth and most of the other races are going to see it as, if not justified, at least understandable. The Narn are not going to be seen as the victims of aggression, they're going to be seen as a rogue state that was asking for war. The Narn - Centauri War is going to be viewed in a very different light.
talented but disillusioned by Hollywood…the perfect choice for a character who was exactly that IIRC. and Babylon 5 wasn’t his last role, just the one that he was moat remembered for
Yes, i try to keep away from politics but there is a great resemblance. That's why I posted this video a few days earlier. Just before 9 may. Victory day in Russia. But in war no one is victorious.
Sad fact is that the narn never deserved the suffering that is to come, but they did unlock the pandoras box. By the end centauri and narn were blasted hell scapes for no other reason then pride and vengeance.
Let's say the Shadows only destroyed Quadrant 14 and 37, and wanted the Centauri mility to prove themselves on their own against the Narns. The Narns launched their desperate attacks against Gorash 7 and the Centauri awaits them there with their own fleet. Would the Narns succeed? And would the the war drag on for more than 6 months?
The Centari really should of stopped sending those big cruisers of theirs to Babylon 5. The first one was carrying the emperor and he dies, the second gets blown up by a Narn cruiser, the third is destroyed by Babylon 5 itself and finally the fourth had bomb on it to kill Molari and exploded.
(From the video description, words most appropriate for our present time) "And so much could have been avoided just when people listen to eachother and give eachother space and peace and stop trying to forge old empires. It never leads to good things.". . . and in today's world, in our timeline, we *definitely* have some people trying to forge old empires . . . .

That's what made it so tragically great! There is always something happening which we didn't expect. And neither did g'kar.
Vir was the only one to see Morden's offer for the poisoned cup it was.
Yep;)
Russian proverb,"death can come in a thousand cuts."
Never heard this one. But then Grandma was an expert on UKRAINIAN proverbs- not Russian ones.
This was one of the big tragedies of the series. The Emperor was willing to risk everything to stop the hatred, but it was already too late.

I think it far more likely the Narn would've seen this as a weakness.@@nelsonchereta816

The final performance by a distinguished actor of the 1940s and 1950s, Turhan Bey as the Centauri Emperor.
I don't know him that well but i will look into his movies.

Certainly a turning point for both G'kar AND Londo.
Two great actors, gone, Rest in peace.
Great Channel. Mirror's much of what is going on today. Thanks.

Love this show. Pls post more.
I will;) At S3E15 at the moment. So lots of episodes to go.

That why the question what do you want and who are you matter so much.
Great video! The music you chose really fits well. Will you also upload Sinclair's cameo scene in the episode?
Yes a bit in next episode;)
the path is clear
The most impressive part of this was that Dr Franklin remembered all that
Thinking of the Shadows... would it be possible for them to have cause the Emperor's heart attack to ensure that eternal conflict would happen.
I wouldn't be surprised.
Damn, I never thought of that...Those fellows really love keeping things going.

Perhaps the Centauri would have not gone further. Just like Russia if the Ukraine still had nukes.

I never thought of that lol. Nice catch!
And off down the road to hell he goes.
Should have listened to Vir, Londo.
Let's discuss our assassination plot over a comms channel operated by a Alien species…
Listening to others com channels would be a violation of Diplomatic Immunity.
Also, they probably have end to end encryption.
Londo... chose poorly.

Hi
Hey there:)
Our actions??? No- they started it! We were perfectly willing to share- but they decided that the whole Ukraine belongs to them. By what right???
