Hidden Power's a physical move because it's a normal type move. The other types for Hidden Power are actually physical or special depending on the type. So Hidden Power Water and Dark would be Special.
I wouldn't lean into poison for Agatha, especially since Koga was Gym #6. Instead I'd lean more towards pokemon with dark, ghost, and status moves. To insure that her ghostly vibers are preserved. To that end I would use the following team: Misdreavus - Calm Mind, Psychic, Thunderbolt, Confuse Ray Gengar - Fire Punch, Shadow Ball, Destiny Bond, Explosion Marowak - Bonemerang, Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Brick Break Murkrow - Feather Dance, Torment, Drill Peck, Feint Attack Hypno - Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Ice Punch, Reflect Umbreon - Toxic, Moonlight, Mud Slap, Tickle With this set, she leads Misdreavus who can possibly calm mind sweep, if confusion afflicts your lead. Gengar is not using it's special attack to the maximum to make Psychic on Misdreavus more unique, but it's secretly packing explosion and destiny bond to make use of its speed more. It's a rare physical set. Marowak is here because of the pokemon tower thing, and adds some nice physical offense to the team. I'd give it the thick bone item. Brick Break is there to punish screen setting. Murkrow is a trickster type, lowering attack and using torment to prevent set up moves. It is a mixed attacker so it can use both flying and dark moves equally well. Hypno adds the bad and spooky dreams to the threat. Ice punch for coverage but it's mostly going to try reflect followed by hypnosis to recover on dream eater. And finally umbreon provides stall with a VERY annoying set, with the rare move tickle to increase longevity while also improving the low damage of mud-slap.
Your ideas are intriguing, but here is how I would make the teams, and I will ONLY use pokemon from the regional dex, not the national dex. For Lorelei would have the same team, just swap in kingler for vaporean. For Bruno, since I am not going to use the national dex, he will instead of having steelix, would have tauros, stopping it's charges would be a great training method for him. Agatha will still have a golbat over her illegal crobat, swap in nidoking for venusaur because she likes "scary" pokemon. And swap in hypno for the weaker gengar, because it has some creepy dex entries. And finally, Lance will swap in scyther and dodrio for kangaskhan and kingdra both because he is considered to be a glorified bird keeper, and also to once again respect the og dex. Blues team would be the same as you made it. Just with jolteon swapped in for rhydon, and with blastoise being the Canon starter.
I've always thought that Lance should have a Dodrio on his team. I know its not necessarily a dragon per se, but the fact that it has three heads reminds me of a Hydra, and top of that his "signature" move, Hyper Beam would work pretty well on Dodrio if he gets one, as not only its a strong move, but Dodrio would be the only mon on his team to get STAB on it, making it very strong.
This is so much better. The only thing that would have made this better is in post-game you rematch all the gym leaders and elite four but now they have new pokemon like regional variations and evolved forms of the pokemon that can evolve further. I know your only going up to gen 3 but still great video.😊😊😊😊😊
Yes I totally agree, and I hope they remake Kanto with those evolutions one day! Once again thanks for coming to the channel, I appreciate the support 😁
I would've personally given Hitmonchan Counter instead of Ice Punch. Rock Slide already covers Flying types. 35 special attack is too low to use special moves. Plus, Counter can be a nice surprise move. In a similar vein, I think Hitmonlee should have Hidden Power Ghost instead of Dark. Both hit the same types for super-effective damage, however Ghost is physical while Dark is special. And no, Hidden Power is not always physical in Gen 2 & 3. Its damage category depends on what type it is. Poliwrath's HP Water will still be special unfortunately.
I think blue should start with a Tauros instead of a Pidgeot, just like how he changed Raticate. It could be a nasty surprise for the player who is expecting the second weakest, fully evolved bird. Tauros would have Frustration with lowest friendship for a 102 power stab, as it is with Return the most powerful normal move he can learn without locking himself or losing a turn, Earthquake to rip apart rock and steel types trying to wall it, hidden power flying for coverage against fighting, and rest with a chesto berry since Tauros can take a lot of damage from either physical or special. I can see this Tauros easily scoring one or two ko's on the player before going down. I'm also giving it Frustration instead of Return from a lore perspective. Not only it would be the most recent pokemom Blue has gotten, but also it would resonate at the end when Oak scolds Blue for not treating his pokemons with love. Another reason why I'm giving him Tauros is because Tauros is pretty much the antithesis of Snorlax, the other super powerful normal pokemon who is iconic of Red
Not really an error that changes anything to the video, but when you showed Steelix's movepool, you said he was a Rock-Steel type instead of a Ground-Steel.
Haha whoops. Of course I still managed to make a small mistake, there’s so much to put on screen in this video😂. Thanks for commenting, I hope you enjoyed the video!
Actually, I think you don't understand how Hidden Power works in Gen 3. It's not a physical move, its category depends on the type it takes. Hidden Power Water is a special move, because all Water moves are special, Poliwrath should just run Surf.
I kind of like how Bruno had 2 Onixes on his team, not because they fit or made sense, but it gave a new sense of power scale, as Brock’s Onix was a challenge at the first gym but now 2 of them are easy to beat
I'm not really vibing with Kangaskhan for Lance, the thing is very clearly a mammal, I believe a Steelix would work much better: it can learn some dragon moves, it's basically land Gyarados and it would work as a sort of land dragon. I get wanting Kangaskhan to be used more, but it really doesn't fit any more than stuff like Rhydon or the Nidos. I would have also put in Marowak somewhere on Agatha's team, the thing is heavily connected to death and the one spot in Kanto where you can find a Ghost type, Lavender Town, probably instead of the Venusaur that, despite having been used by her already, really doesn't work for a Ghost type specialist (and let's be real, Stadium has a bunch of... less than sensible choices when it comes to Pokemon for gym leaders and E4s).
I would have Aurora Beam on Vaporeon over Blizzard. It's damage is okay, but it has a different secondary effect than just freezing, which adds some nice variety
I was considering that. I just figured I wanted there to be a bit of chance involved with the blizzard possibly missing to make it a bit more of a thrilling battle. You’re right though it would have been a better move haha
While this was a generally well researched video, i do feel i have to say one thing that kinda triggered me the whole video long: hidden power is not physical. Or well... the hidden powers you used weren't. Neighter hidden power dark nor water are physical, but i do understand why youd think that, as normal, hidden powers default type, IS physical. In gen 3, it is determined by the type of the attack, not the attack itself, that wouldnt come until gen 4 and the pss (physical special split). Another thing of note: ghost IS a phsyical type, and thus shadowball is a phsyical move, so it is practically useless on agatha.
Yeah, I did not consider that when scripting the video so I ended up going with it anyways haha. I’m glad I didn’t rely on hidden power too much, and I suppose shadow ball on gengar was the only decent ghost move I could have given it so I might have gone with that anyways. Thanks for the comment! 😁
Poliwhirl can learn Hydro Pump before evolving to Poliwrath. Aditionally, you can just give I Surf. Lorelei had both Surf and Dive in her moves. There's no need for HP Water lol.
Much improved teams not giving the trainers & player access to more than just Gen 1 Pokemon in FR/LG was a bad call as it does handicap the player a lot. I get they were doing a remake of R/B but still. Perhaps give Agatha a few ghosts instead of all poison like Dusclops & Misdrevious. I like Lance having a Khangaskan as it like Dratini/Dragonair can only be found in the Safari Zone.
While I agree with that, I think these teams would want to keep Kanto’s Pokemon to remain loyal to their home region, at least until the rematches. Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate talking to this awesome community we’re forming! 😁
This is great! Kang was a cool choice for lance but I wouldn’t mind having two dragonite as it is a nod to his champion theme and it seems to be a go to pokemon that he uses. While slash is ok I believe giving Charizard earthquake instead would give every starter that same move. Plus it would be a nod to blue beating Giovanni and giving one of the best moves to his starter. Additionally it is great for charizard’s electric and rock weaknesses. Another thought is having hypno for Agatha as it fits with her creepy pokemon aesthetic but at the same time having the poison theme is also fair. Lastly Arbok and possibly her other pokemon should have more ghost type move representation as it is her type. While not all pokemon can learn ghost type moves and should for that matter, I wouldn’t mind changing arbok’s hidden power to ghost to still cover that psychic weakness as well as shadow ball to Tentacruel and Crobat. Tentacruel’s moveset was already great and for some odd reason ghost is physical but either way I love what you did and it was a mass improvement!
I think all Elite Four members should only have 5 pokemon each not 6. Its already challenging enough and poketubers forget the massive gap in trainer battles to earn XP between the 8th gym, Victory Road and the League. It's very difficult to level up your pokemon before the league even with grinding using the vs seeker. I did add in lots of strategic moves like reflect and other setup moves as well to try and balance it. Thanks for commenting!

I personally think for the second fire, grass and water moves on the three Kanto starters for Blue, you should have done blast burn, hydro cannon, and frenzy plant instead. Although these moves recharge, if the AI sees a kill with them when an opponent is at high health, it will go for them and that could really disrupt the player.
I understand your rules about evolutions up to Gen 3 but I would have given lorelei glaceon over vaporeon since I don't like giving leaders pokemon outside their type. (Which is hard because you have 1 dragon line plus kingdra and one ghost line plus annihilape) I also would have given Agatha annihilape
I like your ideas! If I remake the video to include Pokémon past gen 1/evolutions of gen 1 Pokémon then I would definitely include those on their teams. Thanks for commenting 😁
Kangaskhan is just no.. There are so many better dragon types that fit his style. Should give him Altaria/Latios/Charizard/Salamence/Aerodactyl/Dragonite Aerodactyl being the only non-dragon type. Now that team looks like a real pre-boss champion. Plus, Thunderwave is Gyarados's signature move you can't take it away from him.. his job is to paralyse and surf/bite/hyper beam/ice beam. Would've loved to see more thoughts gone into Agatha's team too, with more gen3 ghost types, and possibly dark type mix too, 1 or 2 like others who got "fillers" in because of lack of pokemon to their type. Banette / Mightyena / Arbok / Seviper / Misdreavus / Gengar. Something trolly, status-move oriented with nukes. Blastoise as a water pokemon should abuse his movepool and get an ice move to deal with possible grass type.
Seeing that a lot of the grass types in Kanto aren't too fast, Signal Beam on Dewgong would counter them cause technically you could nearly sweep Lorelei with one if you're lucky. Then for Bruno, Dragon Breath on Steelix would help his team alot since they're not very fast in general so having a way to put paralysis can help. Arbok with Glare can paralyzed the opponent too helping her slower Poison types that's not Gengar to move first. Bite on Arcanine makes sense cause it's fast and can potentially flinch you forcing you to miss a turn. The fire spin on Charizard is useless, but only because out of the 100s of Videos I've watched, he's never used that move, even though if he did that's trap the player in and they could lose their Mon cause they're trapped. Ice Beam on Blastoise provides coverage against Grass Types that people might switch in to try to kill it just like how you got Earthquake on it to cover it's Electric weakness.
Those are fair points! I decided to keep both gengars since there wasn’t much else I could think to give her, and having both of them serve different purposes seemed like a smart way to split them apart from each other rather than just duplicating the one. I didn’t know dewgong could learn signal beam, but wouldn’t the ice moves I have it be able to take out grass types?
@@VeyloYT I had to look it up to make sure if it was a Gen 3 move. And if for any other reason. If a psychic type came in then the Signal Beam would surely bring them down as it is a Physical move in Gen 3 and some of their defense stats are paper thin, like Alakazam I was also thinking about Iron Head but it's a Gen 4 Move, I thought about Hitmonlee and Blaze Kick but it only gets it in Gens 4-9.
Yeah, it’s so tough to make sure they get the coverage that they need using gen 3 moves, but maybe I’ll make another video based on recent Pokémon and moves. We will see how this one does first haha
hidden power dark is a Special move not a Physical move Dark is Special in gen 3 or gen 2 hidden power is Special or Physical base on type Special Water Grass Fire Ice Electric Psychic Dragon Dark Physical Normal Fighting Flying Ground Rock Bug Ghost Poison Steel

All the teams were good, but idk why there was still 2 Gengars
Your other points are great as well, thanks for your input! It’s nice being able to talk to the awesome community we’re forming here 😁
@@VeyloYT I had to look it up to make sure if it was a Gen 3 move. And if for any other reason. If a psychic type came in then the Signal Beam would surely bring them down as it is a Physical move in Gen 3 and some of their defense stats are paper thin, like Alakazam
I was also thinking about Iron Head but it's a Gen 4 Move, I thought about Hitmonlee and Blaze Kick but it only gets it in Gens 4-9.
Yeah, it’s so tough to make sure they get the coverage that they need using gen 3 moves, but maybe I’ll make another video based on recent Pokémon and moves. We will see how this one does first haha
Lance is a dragon user not a dragon type specialist he likes using Pokémon that are dragon like n dragon type 😂
Limiting yourself to gen 3 is boring to me but i leave a like and a comment because i like pokemon
Yeah that’s fair, but I figured I’d have to stick with the Kanto theme. Maybe I’ll make another video with all gens!
@@VeyloYT I would be glad to see it , i love kanto
