Honestly, Pictomancer saved this expansion for me because I do not like the BLM changes and I'm not into healing right now when I've been a SCH main since Stormblood but Picto is so fun. It's like they took the flexibility from BLM and gave it to PCT luckily. I can confidently say it's my favorite job right now.
It perfectly hit the sweet spot for me of being a true caster while still having lots of movement options.
I get that, for me it's prob my new fav caster though i haven't played them much in Endwalker, its just really well designed imo and what I want out of that role.

I love the flexibility in the decision making. For example Hammer has two charges, and the CD starts rolling as soon as you use it. But it gives you 30 seconds to actually use all three hammer hits. So you can pop it to get the CD started, knowing that you could use them all 25 seconds from now, or you could spread each hit out as you need movement. Super cool
Exactly! The design rewards forward planning and gives you room to adapt, it just plays so dang well imo
I'm so conflicted now what I want to main.....BLM, AST, or PIC.....I love all of these jobs but by far PIC has been scratching an itch I can stop scratching. Truly a 10/10 job. Only level 92 atm, and can't wait to see how the full kit comes together/feels!!!!
Good thing with FF14 is we can just play em all if we really want lol, I'm just so pleasantly surprised by how much I've been enjoying Viper and Pictomancer, I thought I'd like em, but not THIS much
@@JMulls yeeee I got all my jobs to 90 atm xP The choices!!!! It will honestly be a toss up between PIC and AST tho at the end of the day since AST cards are finally a progression of their Stormblood varients than a regression we've had over the years with the cards specifically.
Edit: I really don't like removing materia and stuff off gear so BLM may be put on the back burner for DT unless for funnies
Not only does it feel like a more friendly black mage in terms of overall play style; but it reminds me of Kingdom Hearts in style but in a good way. Definitely my new favorite caster and between it and sage are probably my main jobs now.

Thank you! I'm mainly playing Viper rn cause I'm doing MSQ with that, but I can't wait to play more with picto, just feels like a job that gets more fun the more you learn it
Little long. Two things I love so far (only 91): the hammer and the flow of the job. Sure you have your burst windows which are rigid but between them is very fluid. You’re setting up for your burst but also how you set it up is almost completely up to you. Well you and aoes.
You have so many choices to make: do I have time to draw a motif? What about turreting for a bit? Etc. And as long as you prepped for burst you can do almost anything. It lets you get, well, creative in some regards.
Yeah exactly, its basically everything I love about a job, all those little choices I can make on a moment to moment basis, with periods of the rotation which feel different to one another, keeps my attention and engages me, super fun
Yeah the pictomancer is really powerful from what I was playing having a 1100 potency ogcd on a 40 sec cooldown is certainly going to contribute to that the only time I wasn’t 2 on enmity generation in dungeons was when I messed up the rotations at least from what I played
It's by design meant to be really good for DPS since it doesn't bring much utility to the table nor does it have a battle rez like Black mage, feels super satisfying imo

Honestly It's prob top 3 for me as well at this point and I was not even expecting to play it much, absolutely blew me away
This is the first expansion I’m actually excited about both new jobs. As a scouting main I’m loving going through the MSQ on VPR and NIN. But once I’m done I’m gonna grind out picto, I was a bit meh on it with the job trailer but everything after that got me excited.
Yeah same, I always knew I was gonna go with Viper cause I love the aesthetic, but Pictomancer really surprised me with how much I quickly ended up loving it
I've been enjoying the Pictomancer a lot. You are right about planning. If you can plan when to use your pallets, and when to start mobility damage , it just does really well. Maybe it's because I come off of being a Red Mage main which has a lot of similar aspects of rooted and then mobile, but Pictomancer feels better to me than Red Mage. Now I haven't gotten back to Red Mage since the update, and I heard there was some changes, so I'm probably going to play around with that tomorrow...maybe...Not going to lie. I really want t level the Picto up some more though, just so I can swap out that initial paint brush. It doesn't look good with my glamours.
Yeah... I'm definitely going to run into an issue of what glamour do I want for my picto lol, but the way you can plan with picto, like you said, is super fun for me, I feel better the more I play picto. Gives you a lot of room to plan, but if you plan successfully, you really feel the benefit

Now we need a Dragoon ability in 8.0 that gives them 8 spears
As a caster player i actually think the base combo casts is pretty snappy everything on this job just feels good

I am the first person that thinks that a pictomanceer class, or the like in any lore is stupid, completely ridiculous. BUT, I'm watching them in FFXIV and I'm loving it lol. yeah I'm eating crow, but they look really cool to play and I love the colors.
Yeah it's by no means what I look for aesthetically in a class, but imo at least it's from a previous FF game and is at least extremely creative, and it's implemented very well at least from what I played so I'm glad it exists
Picto was i big surprise for me, the main premise was ok, than I saw Yoshida showcase it and was really sceptical. So I was like ok i will main viper for this expantion... Now, everything flipped, viper is sooo repetitive with its 1-2 combos and I got borred after 3 levels or so. I swapped to picto and having a blast so far. And for the haters I play all classes, love Gubgreker, paladin, ninja, samurai, machi, red mage, sage and scholar 😉
The reason qhy people enjoy Picto my friend , is because..... is a hybrid , tab target and action combat, basically 14 is experimenting with it, but that type of combat is almost gw2'ish

Job theme just doesnt jive with me. Im sure its fun, just looks like a Super Mario and Splatoon crossover in FFXIV

Its a cool concept but I cant stand this job.
Picked up both VPR and PIC thinking I was going to lvl them and main VPR, PIC ended up being way more fun to me.
I thought it was an imposibility to make a stupider job than dancer, Pictomancer proved me wrong ..

Relm been part of FF series for a long time. This is also not among the most crazy jobs they introduced in FF series.
Worst casting job along them all. You have cooldowns on paintings,you can’t revive and just the esthetic of you battle crazy monsters with paintings lol you feel like a dumb cousin of other casters
