Genius- your tutorials are very helpful. Thank you Suzanne
Glad you like them!
that's is the best i all way have trouble Knitting what two colors but your video I love it it makes so much sense thank you thank you thank you
I'm very happy to help, Helen, you are most welcome! ❤️
I am using this new ( new to me ) technique in a bias knit garter stitch baby blanket. I am using pfb increases ( also a new technique for me) on rows 2 and 3. I am very pleased with how it is looking! Thanks again for your clear, easy to see and easy to follow instruction.
Thanks for sharing!
Excellent tips for one row striping flat. Very helpful. I also find your voice and knitting very relaxing. Thank you.
Thank you. Happy knitting.
You're amazing - your tutorials are consistently the ones that answer my questions. For a future project figuring out an iconic sideways knit hat from my country that is nowadays mass-produced, I needed to figure out how to do single row stripes knit flat... of course the answer is DPNs or circular needles!
Beth, I really appreciate your kind feedback, thank you! ❤️
Ah, just realised what you’re doing here... excellent! I’m making a Safe at Home blanket in the pandemic lockdown and have looked at lots of your videos to refine my techniques because there are so many yarn changes, (incl. intarsia) decreases, pick ups and thread finishing off involved! Thank you so much! My blanket will be so much better for your input.
Fantastic! I have that blanket in my queue too.
I'm so glad I found this video! I inherited an unfinished scarf and couldn't figure out how to continue it. Like you said , there aren't any other videos on how to do this! Thank you so much!
You are so welcome, Jennifer!
Your knowledge and expertise are impressive, and I learn something new with every video. Thank you!
So nice of you
I've watched all of your videos and I use them as a reference library often. I like that they're short and straight to the point and so clearly demonstrated. Thank you, Suzanne
Thank you! Happy knitting.
I'm teaching myself to knit and I have learned SO much from your tutorials. I'm so new I don't know what some things are used for (i.e. Short rows), but I know how to do them!!!! LOL 😂 Thanks again!!!
Great, you will encounter these things as you start knitting projects that require shaping, like socks, garments and such. Wonderful that you are just learning so much. Happy knitting.
Great technique and great video.
Thank you! Cheers!😀
Suzanne,
This is excellent! Thank you for writing out the directions to print.
You are welcome, thank you.
Thanks for your help on this stitch! It's very interesting. I'm sure the video will be helpful to many.
Thank you Renee, you are the one who finally figured it out. Great work.
Very interesting.
🧶
Love your videos!! Very very very good technique and teaching techniques as well!!!
Thanks Glen, happy knitting.
I really like your neat, aligned edges; much better than all the other videos on multicolor edging. However, I’ve tried this more than a dozen times and cannot achieve it. Can you please explain this sample FROM THE BEGINNING (including cast on)? Also, I would suggest that the main color is purple, since that’s the cast on color, and white is the changed color.
Adding to my todo list. thank you! 🧶
This can be done with 2 DPN's also.....I think? I haven't seen a tutorial for this up till this moment, so thank you Suzanne!
Yep, 2 dpns or circulars, both work perfect. Just not on straights. Thanks for the feedback. Happy knitting.
I wish I had seen this before I started my project. The pattern doesn't give instructions on how to make the striped edges smooth like this. I'll know what to do the next time I have stripes.
Happy New Year.
I would like to see you have the 4 row sequence written out on this page as well. I do like the video very much but I like to follow along using written directions. Thank you for your excellent videos.
Thanks, I put it in the description, but will also add it as a comment and then pin it to the top. Great suggestion, thank you.
excellent info.... thank you!!
Thank you Shannon. Happy knitting.
Agreed! This is a great and the only video of its kind I found. A question. I'm making a triangular scarf in garter stitch with a two row repeat
Row 1 (RS): k2, k to marker, yo, k to marker, m1r, k1, m1l, k to marker, yo, k2
Row 2 (WS): k to middle marker, p1, k to end
If I'm on the wrong side of working doing a Row 1 (and purling) do I still do a m1r, p1 (in the middle) and then m1l - or do I reverse?
I am not sure what you are asking. On the WS rows, you don't make any increases.
Hello, would you please explain to to decrease in garter stitch when you are doing stripes so that the previous colour does not overlap into the next row of a different colour?
I love this technique. Can you please explain how to get started with this technique. Do you CO with the MC then slide stitches over and P with the CC color?
Great question. You can see in this swatch that I CO with long tail cast on and then started the first row with the contrast color. Since this is garter stitch, the bumpy side of the long tail cast on looks best on the RS in my opinion. But, it is your swatch and your yarn, you can do it however you want. I would suggest swatching and trying it out. that is how I learn too.
@@SuzanneBryan Thank you so much. I am such a big fan!!!!
This technique took an experienced knitter 30 cm of band to master almost. I wrote down your video comment right side K first, P second and wrong side the side reversed and used that for a long time to feel I had it ! Thanks it will be useful.
This is so cool! I love your channel and have subscribed to continue to grow my skills. I do have a question - I’m doing a two row stripe abs carrying the yarn up the side, but it’s ugly. Do you have a suggestion to make it look better? Thank you Suzanne!

Knitting with Suzanne Bryan thank you!! Especially for your quick reply! ❤️
Knitting with Suzanne Bryan now I've watched your recommended video I see I was doing EVERYTHING wrong: pulling yarn too tight as I picked it up for the color change, keeping dropped yarn in back. 😂 Your help here is so appreciated. I practice many new techniques on dishcloths so I'm off to rip out my messy 18 rows and begin again properly. Thanks so much! I am a forever fan! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wonderful!
This is a great video - thank you so much! If I'm doing single row stripes in stockinette stitch worked flat - would the instructions be as follows:
Row 1(RS): Bring MC from back to front under the CC and knit.
Row 2(RS): Go back to the starting end, and With CC KNIT.
Row 3(WS): Turn the work, take MC under, then over CC to the front and purl.
Row 4(WS): Go back to the starting end, and with CC PURL
I think this makes sense - but am second guessing myself... thanks!

Looks good. Thanks for commenting. I hope you have chosen to subscribe and please share my videos in your social media groups, like FB, Ravelry, Pinterest, etc. Thanks again and happy knitting, Suzanne.
So beautiful , easy and simple! Do you think it makes a good texture for a cardigan? Kisses from Portugal.
This would make a great texture for a cardigan. Yes.
Loved the video....do you have advice on increasing, like in creating a triangular shawl?

I always thought garter stitch was knit every row...no purl rows. Confused.
What I am showing here is for two colors. I see you second comment, you got it! yay!
Interesting variation to boring old garter stitch.
My sentiments exactly. Happy knitting.
Oh no, Garter stitch isn't boring at all. It makes a beautiful squishy and warm fabric and looks lovely.
