Directions are CLEAR, video is CLEAR, everything is just right for me (and I've watched quite a few yarn videos that were too fast or too slow or not clear, or, or... ). THIS ONE is exactly right for my learning needs. Actually a "perfect" video. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I'm following a sweater pattern that has a two color rib and this was my first time. Instructions are clear, video is clear and straight to the point. Thank you again :)
Hooray 😁....there are so many tips in that small video ...I wasn't even sure about the first few lines....all knit for a few rows....many thanks indeed .xxx

I finally started a project with 2 x 2 corrugated ribbing and remembered this video after making a blunder of it. Very clear and well explained. Many thanks.
I am so glad to find this! I didn't know you could do two-color knitting flat, I guess, having always done it in the round. I want to do a big shawl collar in corrugated ribbing, and I want to use Japanese short rows to shape it. So I have another challenge to go with the knitting corrugated flat, but of course, without being able to knit it flat, I would never be able to do short rows at all. Thank you, thank you. Oh, one other question -- a few years ago, I was knitting two-color stranded inside out in the round, and it worked well to keep the strands from getting too tight. I can't remember where I learned to do that, and I can't remember how to do it, either. I think I was doing it Portuguese style, and inside out. Worked well.
You are very welcome jiwan kim. Thank you and Happy knitting. Be sure to check out my new channel for live-streaming - Suzanne - Off the Cuff ua-cam.com/channels/QBgFUvQzjz1RUm9NsgEA1A.html
Really wish I could knit holding 2 color yarns in both hands 😞 since I lack 3 fingers on right hand I’ve only been successful with throwing style. Do you think those “ring” yarn holders would be of any help?
Hi Susan, du hast mir schon einmal sehr geholfen und ich liebe deine Videos einfach! Jetzt habe ich schon wieder eine Frage zu dem Corrugated ribbing: I knit a fair isle corrtugated ribbing (in the round) with always changing colors, and it looks terrible 😮 How can I do this? Sometimes there is only ONE❤ row with a change in the purl color.. Thanks for your help and a lot of Christmas greetings from Germany
If the the purls columns are where you are changing colors, you will have bi-colored purls. In this sample I show how to avoid the bi-colored purls by knitting those stitches for the color change. But if you are having frequent color changes this will not work. If possible try to have your color changes be in the knit columns and not in the purls columns. I hope this makes sense for you. Merry Christmas to you too.
@SuzanneBryan yes, it does, thank you Suzanne. There ist one round where the red purls meet the white purls from the row below. So I will KNIT instead of purling these stiches. So it s not so much visable in the hole ribbing. At the other color changes it does not pop up so much and I can live with that. Thank you very much for your quick and helpfull answer💗 Merry Christmas to all of you Andrea
I want to learn this: I must watch this again. Sometimes, it seems the words bring to the back and forward are confusing. It seems when the WS is facing you and you bring the yarn on the WS, you are bringing the yarn forward. I guess the words to the front or to the back or to the WS, etc. Is there a pattern?
Yes, for this project, I used the standard long tail cast on, then I worked a knit row followed by another knit row. That gives a nice little garter edge for starting the color work. Like a border.
When I use this technique for socks, I cast on extra stitches for the ribbing to counteract the lack of stretchiness. Then you can decrease them off right away after the ribbing.
I like to finish off the corrugated ribbing with a little edge. Knit one row or round in your knit stitch color, then purl one round (knit if working flat). Then bind off. This creates a little ridge that outlines the corrugated ribbing and looks really tidy. Let me know how it works. 🧶
Yes you can! Just work 2 knits in one color and then 2 purls in the other color. It looks great. I have another video on doing that - ua-cam.com/video/ksBur4BFlxM/v-deo.html
How do I apply this technique to a fair else sweater knitting completely with rib stitches and with pattern changes throughout? Is there a video for it. Your video is very clear and instructional but this one only deals with 1x1 ribbing, and I am having difficulties transferring the technique to a 1x1 ribbing sweater. Thanks and much appreciated. Betty
The pattern is called "the Dude" by Andrea Rangelknits. My problem is with catching the floats so that the stitches show up as distinct knits and pearl stitches. Right now they seem to run into each other and sometimes the legs show up tangles and the complimentary yarn shows up where it should not. Just not very pretty looking and untidy. Thanks so much for your reply and help.
I took a look at the pattern and all the projects and notes. You may be pulling the floats too tight. If you can contact me on Ravelry, I can give you my email address and if possible, can you make a video of you knitting on the piece so that I can see what you are doing, as well as send me some pictures of the work. Then we can get down to brass tacks. I am Knittingsuzanne on Ravelry.
I searched and searched and am so glad I finally found exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Me too!

It took me 5 viewings to finally get the corrugated ribbing process, but this is the best video I have found for an intermediate knitter like me.
Oops, I see you already found this one. Perfect!
Thank you so much for this video, it's the only one that I found that I could actually understand ❤
I'm so glad!
Thanks so much! I was so confused as to why the ribbing was looking wrong and this helped me find out what I was doing wrong!
I'll be watching this again and again...and again you are very clear in your directions. Thank you.
Happy Holidays.

Absolutely fabulous. Thank you! Off to knit a Christmas jumper for my doggy

This was brilliant thank you. Beautifully explained and demonstrated and easy to follow and understand 😊
Another new technique...for the stranded knitting project...deb...thank-you
Thank you James Blanton! Happy knitting.
Thank you! This is just what I needed to start my first pair of Fair Isle mitts!
Glad I could help!
Beautiful ribbing.
Thanks so much, Patricia! ❤️
Thank you. I can tell that this ia a "watch more than once" video.
Happy knitting.
Thanks a million! Happy holidays!

Merci c'est bien expliqué 👍🏻🥰
Avec plaisir 😊

Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Interesting!

Give it a try and see if it helps. I have a friend who uses it for all of her colorwork.
Teşekkürler 💖💐🌺

beautiful, so inspiring
Thank you so much!
Very helpful. Thanks
Thank you!
Why does the wrap need to be counter clockwise? I never have done it that way
Thank you !!!
Thank you Roula. Happy Knitting!
Do you have a tutorial showing how to do this in the round? Very pretty work, thank you for sharing your skills.
I actually have two - this one - ua-cam.com/video/ksBur4BFlxM/v-deo.html and this one - ua-cam.com/video/iN4nWJd61Mw/v-deo.html

Thank you. this is just a lesson on how to work corrugated ribbing flat. You can use it to substitute for any ribbing.
So wonderfully explained, Suzanne. May I ask what sort of cast on do you use? Sorry, but can't "read" it.
Yes, for this project, I used the standard long tail cast on, then I worked a knit row followed by another knit row. That gives a nice little garter edge for starting the color work. Like a border.
Pretty. How do we continue? What's the pattern? Which rows do we repeat to the end?
See my previous answer.
Would this technique work for socks, even though this type of ribbing isn't very stretchy, especially if I used knitting-in elastic thread?
When I use this technique for socks, I cast on extra stitches for the ribbing to counteract the lack of stretchiness. Then you can decrease them off right away after the ribbing.
Will this work w/k2p2?
Can I use this technique in a heelflap?
Yes. You can also work it the same but with all knits for a heel flap.
🧶
Could you do this with 3 colors?
Certainly, try it on a swatch first. 🧶
👏🏻
Thank you!
Thank you, how would you bind off to make it look nice?
I am planning to use it on a top down sweater
I like to finish off the corrugated ribbing with a little edge. Knit one row or round in your knit stitch color, then purl one round (knit if working flat). Then bind off. This creates a little ridge that outlines the corrugated ribbing and looks really tidy. Let me know how it works. 🧶

Great thank you.
It seems that I have to do 1 row/round k all sts like in the beginning and then continue with main colour only
yes, 🧶
Can I do 2 color 2 x 2 ribbing?? thanks in advance for a reply
Yes you can! Just work 2 knits in one color and then 2 purls in the other color. It looks great. I have another video on doing that - ua-cam.com/video/ksBur4BFlxM/v-deo.html
@@SuzanneBryan thank you
Do you have English style videos ?
Muy bonito este punto no lo entiendo pero lo veo un saludó desde España
I hope it helps you. Thank you and happy knitting.

Can you tell me the name of the sweater? Is it on Ravelry? If I could take a look, I could give you a better answer.

Why is colorwork knitting difficult for me?
Keep trying, you will get there.
tried for hours, really can't figure it out. Are you supposed to know how to do stitches european style in order to do this with both hands?
Total beginner at fair Isle. Lost completely.Discouraged.
