I love Tom so much. He is one of the funniest creators alive, and so aggressively pinpoints my little weasel sense of humour that I feel seen. I hope he lives a thousand years.
I am fairly certain that Tom is trying to breach the limits of being unhinged ever since the Pipeline review. Matt has gotten very mellow with his reviews, so Tom now sees an opportunity to fulfill the role, and I am here for it.
By god, he finally did it. He made a video about a card game (with TOKENS!). Was not expecting Tom eating an onion to be the jump scare of 2022 but here we are.
I ran to the Oink stand at UKGE to scout out a copy and now my friends are all jealous because they can't get it anywhere. I had my priorities in the right order.
Played Scout twice in the last week via friends who were lucky enough to have copies, and it was easily my favorite card game ever. But now I have to mope around waiting for it to become available for sale in the uncertain future. Delightful game!!!
My favorite part of the video is the auto-generated subtitles changing "digestif" to DJ Steve. (But also, Scout is a great game. Everyone should try it.)
wait... so... what's up w/ the peoples' names (James, Mary, Charles) or random icons (drums, stilts, singer)? is a set of drums better than a set of mary's?
Tom, you're really finding your groove on this channel. Great review, very entertaining, and your editing is a rollercoaster of laughs and wtfs every time. Keep it up!
Only thing you left out is that after your cards are dealt out at the beginning of the turn, you must carefully pick them up and form your hand. Then you must decide if you will keep this hand or turn it 180 and keep THAT hand. No rearranging, whichever way you decide. Great game
I clicked on this video review to get an idea of how SCOUT! works and now I feel like I'm some kind of strange dream. This video review of SCOUT! is hilarious and educational!
The fact that 2 seconds after Tom shows the onion my mind went "Oh Tom...why would you bite that?" defines Tom's humor, you just know it's coming for sure!
Whelp, I need to go to my LFGS and pick up Scout. I love Bohnanza and this looks like a great spin on a similar mechanism. Card games win table time so much more often with my extended family and I am always looking for more options for that group of gamers.
Lovely video, Tom! I was excited to catch a SUSD video so soon after it dropped so I could scoop up a copy of a highly reviewed game before it sold out. Jokes on me, it was already long sold out!!
FYI Tom, if your managers are asking you for too much "delightful but inscrutable chaos", you might be entitled to time and a half and/or hazard pay. Possibly speak to your union representative?
Scout! Scout! Scout! Hahahaha I keep replaying the intro it's hilarious! Also the extra hands for the player count segment was so smooth it should be illegal.
Bohnanza is the game I buy when I travel. I own a French Canadian and a Dutch version. It's also one of the few Dutch language games I could find in Amsterdam!
The low volume of the early intro made me turn my headset up enough that the first shout nearly blew my ears off, and... I honestly don't mind at all, it just added to the bit. Loved the video!
Do you ever click one short thinking you’ll get right back to the video you’re watching but after an hour you’ve forgotten you were watching the video and so when you finally click of the void that is UA-cam shorts you get a little bit happy that you get to finish the video you were watching? That just happened to me. I’m a little bit happy now.
Hey, love the video and the game! Weird question, though: Where did you get that cute plant pot with the smiling face? It appears in the 4:45-5:00 range in the video.
A friend at my gaming group keeps trying to get us to play Scout. I have played it three times and have as yet to enjoy a game. My hand always seems to be too rubbish for scouting to be much help. Much prefer Bohnanza. Enjoy that one every time whether I'm winning or not. Would also recommend Regicide and Hanabi. Ooh and the Oink game Welcome To The Dungeon! So many much better card games than Scout. You really couldn't think of any negatives at all?
Not having played scout, I can only say that a selling point for me is that it would be far easier to teach to non-gamers than bohnanza (and could even be a bridge to that phenomenal game)
@@andrewtorrens7790 Ah, see, my less big gamer friends ae intimidated by cards with a bunch of numbers and a less obvious theme. Whereas, if you just give some fields and tell them they are planting a bunch of entertainingly illustrated beans, they are much easier to get on board.
This game just came around recently in my radar and it's quite hard to find. I'll buy it in a heartbeart considering the convincingly great reviews it received and its obvious, simplistic gameplay. And it's quite handy!
When you talk about alternatives KRASS KARIERT (DEALT! is the English title I think) should be mentioned because it is the closest version to Scout and I would say Scout got inspired by KRASS KARIERT.
I already have the game so came here for the entertainment. Scout is excellent. I'd love to try Photograph, but can't get my hands on it in Australia. Bohnanza was perhaps the second game I played, after Catan, when I got into the hobby. I liked it a lot back then, but now I find it can be a drag due to it's long playtime (it is a negotiation game after all). It takes over an hour to play and after half an hour of it, I'm over it.
Apparently the current version of Bohnanaza is not the same game they released in the past. I hear that the previous version could be played 2 player. The current version is strictly 3-5. It's generally run pretty quickly when I've played.
@@Fatpie42 I'll have to check it out, but if it's just the player count that's changed, that's no big deal as I would never have considered playing this 2p.
I'm sure you've looked it up already, but in case you haven't, the theming around Scout is that you're Scouting circus performers and trying to impress a crowd by Showing off their talents. Each card represents a performer who can do two things, and when you Scout them you're choosing what role they should fill in your circus troupe. That's also why the cards all have a name printed at either end. It's flavor, essentially.
Quins, Matt... nothing to see here, next comment. Tom, I'm sorry for saying this. I hope it doesn't put you in Jeopardy, but you are becoming my favorite Shut Up and Sit Downer.
Tom has been unsupervised for too long. He is growing too powerful.
He's already started infecting the others, there's no going back
And that is a perfect thing
Powerful from misery, judging from the Cruelty Squad memes early in this episode
He must stand trial!
Somebody supervise him! Quick!
Tom’s videos are always like having a very comfortable panic attack.
I love Tom so much. He is one of the funniest creators alive, and so aggressively pinpoints my little weasel sense of humour that I feel seen. I hope he lives a thousand years.
Pretty sure he already has. He's gone unhinged with perceived immortality
Thousand year old vampire is actually just Tom's autobiography
I am fairly certain that Tom is trying to breach the limits of being unhinged ever since the Pipeline review. Matt has gotten very mellow with his reviews, so Tom now sees an opportunity to fulfill the role, and I am here for it.
Someone has to absorb all the mind-altering gases that those pears put out.
The pacing of this video felt exactly like a hand of Scout 🧡🎪
The framed Disco Elysium art is awesome specially love the Kim portrait 10/10. Also you make very good videos Tom
By god, he finally did it. He made a video about a card game (with TOKENS!).

When you complain the base walking speed in Team Fortress 2 is too slow, so Tom tells you which character class you should select.
jesus, tom is now why i watch SUSD, this kid has talent in writing and editing these so perfectly
The best Tom reviews are when he is descending into insanity in the background
Played Scout twice in the last week via friends who were lucky enough to have copies, and it was easily my favorite card game ever. But now I have to mope around waiting for it to become available for sale in the uncertain future. Delightful game!!!

Why are you guys so persuasive, damn you. My shelf can't take much more.
TIL Bohnanza, the one cardgame everyone in the Netherlands seems to own, is an Uwe Rosenberg game. How did I never know that
Awesome King Geedorah shirt, I just listened to Take Me to Your Leader recently and it’s great
Not quite the game for me....but dang this is an incredibly well-made review. So much effort put into the first 20 seconds!
This is the delightfully unhinged content I have come to expect and love from SU&SD
YES! So happy you're giving scout some love. The best OINK game in a while, possibly ever
Tom, you're really finding your groove on this channel. Great review, very entertaining, and your editing is a rollercoaster of laughs and wtfs every time. Keep it up!
I was waiting the whole time for him to take a bite of the onion. I learned to be careful what I wish for
Marvelous scripting and editing. I used to watch this for Quinns... Now I watch it for Tom.
Only thing you left out is that after your cards are dealt out at the beginning of the turn, you must carefully pick them up and form your hand. Then you must decide if you will keep this hand or turn it 180 and keep THAT hand. No rearranging, whichever way you decide. Great game
I like this kind of weirdness 😂 Tom's style and humour is just the kind of content i'm looking for...
What are the names and objects on the cards? Are they just flavor, an optional rule, or what?
just flavor
I clicked on this video review to get an idea of how SCOUT! works and now I feel like I'm some kind of strange dream. This video review of SCOUT! is hilarious and educational!
The fact that 2 seconds after Tom shows the onion my mind went "Oh Tom...why would you bite that?" defines Tom's humor, you just know it's coming for sure!
Raw onion is actually really sweet...if you can ignore the biting pain.
And he knows you know. The music cue is building dread because you know it's coming
I trust anyone who has a portrait of Saint Kitsuragi on their wall. Smashing review, Tom!
I was waiting for Tom to take a bite out of that onion. I knew he wouldn't disappoint.
That small edition of Bohnanza is so cute, wish they sold it more widely.
I don't seem to be able to buy this in the US. :( But Bohnanza is truly phenomenal.
Bohnanza is better. Also have you tried out Regicide? (Rules for Regicide are on BGG and it can be played with a standard set of playing cards.)
I do agree about the exclamation point. Love tiny card games with exclamations! See also: Nyet!, Fool!, Catchy!, Hii-Fuu!!
I have spent so long trying to find a good, simple game to play with three players! I'm so excited to try this now :)
IMO it’s much better at 4 or 5. With 3, you’re constantly fighting to stop the round ending early due to a hand going unbeaten.
@@dancondonjones agreed 👍 hard to stop a double scout when playing a large active set
I love your reviews Tom. I wanted Scout before I watched your video, but now I REALLY want it.
Tom just makes me feel so much better no matter what.

I do not know what's more bizarre. The hilarious review or Kitsuragi's portrait on the background.

I expect Tom to dazzle the senses with his reviews, but that intro was something else. A masterpiece
I was not expecting cruelty squad at 1:24 😳😍😱😲👏🙏
just fyi, imho 2p is actually pretty slick. it’s just the instructions could’ve been written better.
Bohnanza is the game I buy when I travel. I own a French Canadian and a Dutch version. It's also one of the few Dutch language games I could find in Amsterdam!
I love Scout….and that was an excellent and hilarious video! So well done! Thanks
SCOUT!! My favourite climber of the last year!! So glad y'all are covering it! I'll be teaching it at Pax Unplugged 😁✨
It's 2:43 and I think toms going to take a big oll bite out of that onion. The tension is palpable.
The low volume of the early intro made me turn my headset up enough that the first shout nearly blew my ears off, and... I honestly don't mind at all, it just added to the bit. Loved the video!
3:55 Casually has the unreleased Undaunted: Stalingrad behind him - like we would notice Tom....
Yes. I would be playing Scout if it was available in the US :(
For me, this will be a Classic on Bohnanza Level. Even Cardgame Haters got Bohnanza in ther collection. And Scout will do the same
Tom showing off his good taste in video games with casual Cruelty Squad drops
Scout is actually amazing at 2. (But much better at higher counts).
Finally someone willing to speak the truth: Bohnanza is Rosenberg's best game and I will die on that hill.
Agricola and AFFO slander will not be accepted here!!
In the past I was really turned off by the circus theme and immediately dismissed it. But now I NEED this game
Thats nice, but i cant help but stare at that enormous Undaunted box on a shelf
Everyone's talked about the framed portrait of Kim but I see Tom is a real man of taste with the cruelty squad references
Of all the places to see Cruelty Squad referenced... I was NOT expecting that.
great review, but also, that portrait of Kim on the background kills me everytime
Are we supposed to just ignore the Undaunted Stalingrad box on the shelf behind you Tom?! Oh, and great video! I love your reviews.
I thought the same thing
Just got SCOUT in the mailbox today! Totally bought it because of this review!!
2:27 aww yeah, crackin' open a cold can of _combos_
The onion gag got me good
I don't have anything to say, but i've heard comments help a video. So i'm commenting because Tom is a diamond!
Am I the only one salivating at that copy of undaunted Stalingrad in the backround
I shouldn't have smoked that weed now I cannot stop this video playing on repeat help me
This is secretly an ol Matt-style Opener video, except the recipe is O N I O N
Love the cruelty squad imgs, makes the review feel unhinged
Tom's divine light has been severed
Oh snap, that King Geedorah record is great. Very jealous of the shirt. Brilliant review!
Similar game is Phase 10 but there’s different challenges for the runs and sets each phase

I couldn’t hear anything he said over the sound of my brain breaking after he handed the microphone to himself in the intro.
Hey, love the video and the game! Weird question, though: Where did you get that cute plant pot with the smiling face? It appears in the 4:45-5:00 range in the video.
Was that a game review or a bad drug trip? I bloody loved it!

This is by far the single greatest piece of content ever created by SUSD. I can’t wait for SHUX!
Had my eye on this for a few months. I hope it comes back in print
Much like the game, this video had me from GO and did not stop the fun. Absolutely wonderful review.

Real subtle, showing off the Undaunted: Stalingrad in the background there.
Bohnanza meets Rummy. They should've called it Drunken Beans.
Spooky advanced copy of Undaunted: Stalingrad in the background? Can we expect a review?
Loving the framed portrait of Kim Kitsuragi on the mantel.

Anyone else distracted by the copy of Undaunted: Stalingrad on the game shelf?
So much!

Very nicely done. Love the saulty voice quality.
