@ Gaming gpus make up less than 10% of nvidia's total revenue, and that percentage is shrinking by the day. Nvidia really does not care about the gaming industry at this point.

So far, 5080 got 9x the stock of the 5090. After Chinese New Year and shipments resuming, in 3 or 4 months it will be FAIRLY easy to get a 5080 at MSRP if you keep on top of it. For now I'd just do something else with your life LOL.

i sat in the freezing cold rain outside of a microcenter 3 hours from home to buy a 5090 and after so many people kept trying to buy it from me the most i was offered was $5500 which was hard to turn down but i really wanted to use the gpu

I worked out this would happen. Bought a 4080 Super whilst they were at a discount and plentiful. I did think of buying three more at the time as an investment and scalping them but decided I couldn't live with myself if I did.

I got a 4090 for $1999.99 on sale from Amazon. Thought it was too good to be true, but it was amazon featured listing so take my money. Came brand new in the box with the new version of the 4090 die. Upgrading from a 4070 Ti and needing to drive a 49" 32:9 5120x1440 QD OLED I needed something better. I feel like I came out alright and won't be missing much until this 50 series stuff settles down. The writing was on the wall so I decided it would be best to just grab that 4090 at MSRP.
Was lucky enough that before 5090 release someone sold me a used 4090 for $1,300 it had warranty I sent it in said there was an issue and they sent me over a brand new sealed box 4090. So I got a brand new one for $1,300 😭

Damn I got royally F*cked! Sold my GPU last month to make a little money to buy a 50 series card. Now I've been GPU'less for over a month and from the looks probably another month. The 5080 I wanted to get has never even went in stock since the second of launch. Honestly between greedy trashy companies and douche bag scalpers, I don't even want to be a PC enthusiast anymore. Your better off buying a console or prebuilt at this point because building a PC is a stressful pain in the ass!

3070 is good enough for 4k medium. An RX 7900 GRE/4070 is also good enough. People buying 90 series are idiots.
I actually felt a little bad buying my 4090 FE a few months back for about $1800 (back when many people were saying "Worst time to buy a 4090! Save for 50 series!"), but looking at the mess the 50 series caused, that purchase suddenly feels justified and smart
As soon as I saw the 5080 review I knew the value of the 40 Super series was gonna go through the roof. As an owner of a 4080 super that's nice, but I feel bad for the folks that were looking to come up from the 10 and 20 series at a decent discount. This is way checks and balances in a capitalistic society are so important. Not govt forced checks and balances, but those created by competition.

well mainly because they are still holding their values compared to the 50 prices, and some people wanted to upgrade like me but then decided to settle with whatever you they could their hands on, i myself have a 2080 ti i7-9700k and been eyeing things closely, i managed to snag a ryzen 9800x3d and have a pre order on a 5080 already but might consider a 5090 from the same store assuming they come back in stock

I bought a 4090 after I saw the Keynote and the 5080 is half a 5090 and only 16gb it was no brainer, and yh the price i got was very good and next day delivery im done with nvidia till 7080 and 20gb+ of vram minimum...
Those of us with the Legendary 1080ti aren’t sweating this a bit. Upgrading our CPU’s alone is gonna reveal +fps for us.
I'm not the type to flip my pc parts, but I was able to sell my main pc's 4070TiS at a +$400 net without even really trying simply because prices are so jacked right now. I couldn't resist it. Crazy times.

From what I can tell, any GPU that can perform at the level of a 4070 or higher is just getting annihilated.
I think when the dismal performance of the 50-series cards popped up, and then Nvidia decided to engineer a stock shortage, a lot of people said "screw it" and snapped up the stock of other cards sitting on the market.
Yep I went from a 2080ti and managed to snag a 5080 on release for MSRP. It made sense because I saw the 40s jump to crazy prices.

I think most people would agree it's not the 5090 that is driving prices up. Anyone paying attention will realize that if/when Trump enacts the semiconductor tariff on Taiwan, we will see GPU prices skyrocket. Anyone looking for a new upgrade is trying to get what they can BEFORE this goes down. What would you rather do, spend $1200 to $1400 on 4080 Super today, or wait for a 5080 to come back into stock in March when tariff tax has that card over 2000 or more. FOMO will strike again. It's coming.

As someone that bought a 5080, I kinda feel like I got scammed. But I also feel like it was the best bang for my buck right now. Leave aside that this generation the 5080 is getting scrwd with the fact that it's just not that much of an improvement over last gen. The 5070 TI that's set to release .. is almost as powerful. 10700 cores vs 8900 cores with the same amount of vram. The regular 5070 seems to be a lot less powerful. Meanwhile the difference between the 5090 and 5080 is a whopping 11 000 cores and double the vram. Currently the lowest price you can get a 5080 for in the Netherlands (5080 .. not 5090) is 1850, with most going for 2000eur. All the FE 5080 and 5090 were snatched up by a group of german scalpers using bots. I've seen 4080 super go for as low as 1200 a few days ago, but most try to peddle them for around 1400/2000 some even for almost 3k depending on the partner card type. So if you're building your own PC, the cheapest would be to buy a 4080 super, losing out on 10/15% performance, faster vram, MFG etc. But, strangely if you buy a prebuilt... the prices seem the same. In fact I found 5080 prebuilts cheaper than the cheapest 4080 prebuilts. Ended up buying a 5080 + 9800x3D prebuilt for 2900 (could have gone as cheap as 2700 but I upgraded the SSD and added a MS license that wasn't even included at the base price, or even 2400 with an intel 14700KF CPU or 2500eur with a 7800x3D, I wouldn't take the intel CPU becauase of all the issues and I figured I might as well go 200 more for the 9800x3D which turned into 400 the MS license and 1tb extra ssd space)
The price I paid in the end wasn't that much more than I would have spent building a 4080 super PC. But much cheaper than I'd spend if I tried to build a 5080 since those go for 2k. But I'm disappointed with how little improvement it is over the previous gen. And I feel like in a couple of months they will release the super for around the same price like 4000 more cores, making that the real 5080. I feel it's insane to have a card sell at around 2000k and it's barely better than the 5070 TI but I also imagine that the same will happen with the price for those.
Shops and stores on the other hand seem to be getting them at MSRP and the prebuilt market seems to have a lot more competition and thus are selling for far more reasonable prices if you don't go for "premium builts" but strangely the price difference between 4080/5080 builts is basically not really there.
Meanwhile you might think, well for 2k a card you might as well go wit ha 4090. But those start at 3.1k and avearge around 4k. So can you imagine what kind of prices they will ask for 5090 when they're in stock lol. Again, it looks like the prebuilts will be a lot cheaper. I mean most go for 4/5k but I've managed to found one 4090 prebuilt for 3.3k. How the f does any of this make sense. Even when cheaping out on other parts it's just a better deal. On tweakers (a dutch tech/price watch site) there is currenly one 5090 you can buy, The MSI surpim and it costs 3.8k .. so basically 4k dollars for a 2k dollar graphics card.
Anyway, yeah I feel disapointed but even more so considering the 5070 TI isn't that far behind and the fact that I'm certain they will release a 5080 super not long from now that's got 30% more performance or something

Thankfully I have a 4090. So, really not big rush for me, I want the 5090 of course, but I’ll just keep looking each day, and when I get one (for the retail price at a trusted retailer, then I’ll get it. But my hand is certainly not forced. I did the market well. I got my 4090 from CEX for £1300. Been pristine and perfect and it serve me until I can get a 5090 :-)

@ well, I just managed to bag myself a 5090, retail at one of my PC shops. MSI Vanguard launch edition. They had 3 and I managed to get one soon at the sent the email. Sold out within 1 minute of that email but I got one. Buzzing 😂

Bought my 4070 ti super new for 789$ (3 weeks ago) the cheapest I see for my specific version is 900$. Im very happy with my purchase. Ngl the increase in price did make me consider flipping it but I really wanted it
I went to best buy. Opened up two tabs for 5090. Ctrl R from 8:45-9:02 on launch on the 30th. On one screen i got the add to cart, hit it in .5 seconds and about 2 minutes later i had a 5090 in my cart. Ship to store was defaulted and I was concerned if i tried to switch it to ship to home some bs would happen. So on Friday I pickup my 5090. I got an order confirmation

I was so naive thinking I could grap the 5080 Aorus Master ICE for 1300$. Everything sold out in 10 seconds & I couldn't even load the page. Settled for Sapphire Pulse XTX for 825$ until Nvidia decides thay want may money cus I will never pay scalpers.
I knew things would be bad, but this is insane. Since CES and the 5090 announcement people have gone crazy. Jensen's "5070 = 4090" sent many into a panic sell. Can only say whoever grabbed a cheap 4090 got a great deal. I had already decided to hold on to the 4090 until the 6090 at least. Now I wonder how much worse things can get until then.

Just saw 7900 XT on Amazon for $650. NGL that's quite tasty looking for people that want to give up on all this insanity for now, and just grab a good mid-high AMD card to game on perfectly well for a while. If I didn't already have a 4070 Ti Super I'd be very tempted by that.

All these youtubers down playing the 5080, yet you haven't been able to even GET a 4080 super for msrp for a very long time, and they have been out of stock for months for new cards. If you have a 4070ti or bellow series card a 5080 is a great upgrade at msrp. I'm speaking about new cards. I wouldn't buy used pc part personally.

Truthfully this generation, or its quarter 1 refresh is my last PC part. I am exhausted, if it lasts a decade i will be 37 and i would have never been fulfilled or experienced the PC promise. Realistically PCs are great because of all the work independent developers in the 90's and early 2000's made, the corps finally got their hands on it sometime in 2013 - now the internet is just cable.
Im so discouraged the generation below me will create their internet, or cable, - and the corps will ruin that too that im done, really.

Nvidia is literally losing a ton of customers who are buying these used cards. The consumers are satisfying their need for a card when they were in the market for a potential 50xx series. I currently have a 1080ti. Had it for 8 years now. I feel like I need to upgrade because new games wont run without a gtx card, and I do 3D modeling with 3ds max and z brush. Should I upgrade to a 5090 or a 5080?

Was able to get a 5080 in a prebuilt ordered (tried buying a 5090 then a 5080 but didn’t happen). If prices are still this stupid in a week I’ll sell my 4080 and come out ahead, lol. You are hella late on this. 40 series cards have been EOL for a month or two. The remaining stock has been getting sold even by retailers for scalper prices since and there is virtually zero stock of the higher end cards unless you are buying second hand. Second hand there are actually deals to be had.

@ So far I’ve tried Shadow of the tomb raider, cyberpunk 2077, red dead 2, pcsx2, forza horizon 5, marvel rivals, dolphin crashes with 3 different ISO’s, even davinci resolve crashes. I tried ddu numerous times and it works for a little bit but starts crashing again. I’m backing up my data and I’m gonna try a clean install now I’ll let you know how that goes.
@ My 3080 never experienced these issues on the previous drivers I never updated until I got the 5080 so I don’t know how it would perform on these new drivers but I’ve been seeing many complaints on the feedback thread

My stupid ass was going for a 5090. And I saw the 5080 was still in stock for about 2 or 3 mins and I hesitated to buy the 5080. And I was set to get a 5090/ Should of got the 5080 when I had big perfect window to snag one. I've not beat my self up in a long time til this.

i manage to buy a 5080 on memory express in canada or at less i thought so, they refunded me about 2 hours ago saying the they don't know when the produce id going to be back in stock bla bla bla iam mad as fuck right now guess i be stock with my 3080 a bit longer my girlfriend s'pc is overdue for an upgrade as well she still have a 2070 super.
Lol same bro. I wanted a certain AIB model of the 5080 but my second pick was in stock for like a good 5 mins. I hesitated thinking the one I really wanted would be next to show in stock. Nope! and by the time I was in check out with my second pick and got it into the cart it said item was all sold out. So don't feel too bad your not the only one this launch has shafted!
