    The DJI transmitter SUPPLIES 3.5 volts max to a lav. The Sennheiser MK-2 REQUIRES 7.5 volts in order to operate . This sizeable discrepancy is your issue with garbled audio. Also, the Sennheiser screw connector doesn't allow for a proper mating connection to the NON-SCREW DJI transmitter. The reason it may work on one transmitter and not another transmitter is the typical manufacturing discrepancies when using injection molded plastics as they relate to the use of precision mechanically mating connectors ... still completely irrelevant considering the Sennheiser mic has a screw connector, and the DJI transmitter cannot, in any sort of dependable fashion, accept a screw connector. In short, there's no "MAJOR issue"with the DJI transmitter, nor is there anything wrong with the Sennheiser lav ... you've simply discovered that they're fundamentally incompatible with each other, through no fault of either company. This is a classic demonstration of "USER ERROR".

    I just received mine yesterday and after watching this video I decided to run the same test. the Lav mic I used to run this test is the Senal UTM-86-35H they are small and do really like the audio out of them. I do have the Mic 1 and do have 4 of these Senal UTM-86-35H. After trying all 4 of them, they all worked with zero issues. It might just be your copy, I suggest you return those and get another copy or maybe your lav mics just don't work with those. I did try a few lav mics on the original Mic 1 and found out that the Senal UTM-86-35H works well with the system with zero issues.

    If it works on one mic and not on the other one that is supposed to be the same type of device it is probably a defect unit you got, not a general problem with the mic.

    My DJI Mic V2, which came with the P3, has worked without issue. The V2 Kit is new to me, so I can't say one way or the other. I have two Rode lav mics, but since I started using the DJI V1 kit, I haven't used any lav mic as I prefer the transmitter without lav. Bottom line, my DJI mics are working flawlessly, and I would highly recommend them. The plus is direct single transmitter connection to MacBook, iPhone, Osmo P3 and Action 4 without receiver. P3 will allow 2 receiver connection without receiver.

    Mine work perfectly with and without lav mics. The audio is excellent and there’s no interference. Everyone should know that using a screw on lav mic can potentially cause a miss seating issues. The only problem I’ve had was missing how to switch out of Bluetooth mode after syncing with a phone. You have to hold down the record button on the transmitter for three seconds to change back to syncing with the standard DJI receiver. This is easy to miss as it’s only mentioned once in the instructions.

    That’s actually a long time known problem of this ME-2-II Lav. Mics. Because of the nut they don’t work in any port. Some work others don’t, what works today doesn’t next time.
    It's because the mic is designed to be bolted and only then it is plugged in all the way. Thats why I removed the nut with a dremel on my ME-2-II.
    This is nothing new and was the same for me on the older wirless go and go ii sets.

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  4 місяці тому +3

      I understand that it has the screw that doesn't work with some units. But why does it work with the last DJI Mic system, and why does it work with half of the new system? And the second issue has nothing to do with the lav.

    • @DAVISION-YT
      @DAVISION-YT 4 місяці тому +4

      @@FStoppers I couldn’t explain your second problem but didn’t had it either. Also did a review of this and any every time I used it with receiver audio to camera it worked fine.
      About the screw, it depends on the length of the internal contacts inside the port. Maybe they changed a little bit from Mic 1 to Mic 2 or even from unit to unit. So the contacts doesn’t touch.
      But I don’t think thats djis fault it's clearly the design of the Lav whats the problem. Thats why on RODEs Lavalier II the bolt is removable. Btw the Lavalier II sounds way better then the ME-2-II.

      Nah, it works with all the Rode Wireless sets, the old DJI set, and a basically every other non-threaded system I’ve ever plugged the ME-2 and MKE-2 in to. I have an issue with an old tascam system, but it was because the mic port was slightly recessed, not because the jack itself wasn’t compatible.

      @@FStoppersHonestly it could be a tolerance issue with the production of the new dji mic 2’s, if enough tolerance slack is accepted in production length of how far the jack goes in, due to the sennheiser plug being slightly different, production differences in length from case to internal contact could be off for it to make proper contact, but any way hou look at it it’s not a good look for dji :/ I did a video on a completely separate problem relating to bluetooth/iphone connections and no internal recording and no support for native iphone video app, and new stuff is happening with even more problems showing up so probably doing a follow up as well

    May I remind a nice and clever functionality of the DJI Mic 2, that eliminates the need for using wired capsules with screw-on type jack connectors...?
    The moving part of the transmitter clip has a small groove hidden inside. This is to grip the cable after doing a loop.
    This combination acts like a safety against unplugging + a safety against traction on the cable itself.
    And there... no problems of compatibility (or lack of), because you don't care about locking-ring size and else : you can plug any type of 3.5 mm jack connector and still have it safely in place for your whole filming.
    DJI was more clever than many think they are ! 😇

      A lot depends on the shielding of the external mics as they act like a big antenna, and if the shield is not properly grounded through the screw mechanism, they will totally mess up the recorder if its not designed for un-shielded external mics.

  • @EmeraldAudiovisual
    @EmeraldAudiovisual 4 місяці тому +3

    None of the lavs with locking connector will ever work in that 3.5mm jack properly, because you can't get it far enough in. Locking 3.5mm jacks are slightly protruding and that's your problem here. That's not a problem with the mic. That's just because locking connectors can't be used on most regular 3.5mm jack.
    With the Røde Lavalier II, you can unscrew the locking nut to use it in a regular 3.5mm jack. With your Sennheiser lav, that's a no go, as Sennheiser didn't intend them to be removed.
    It's not a fault. It's by design.

    Sounds like the frequencies are cancelling each other out between the two transmitters. Do you know the frequency of each unit? Ideally the difference between the 2 needs to be further apart. 2.4 GHz is wildly crowded with Bluetooth, Wifi, SMART meters, radar and such using this there can be interference.
    The other issue is a bad input jack on unit 2. Probably due to inconsistent soldering at the factory.

If it blew up my laptop or phone, I'd expect a refund and an explanation.

    Locking screw lavs may be super safe when connecting to a locking screw transmitter but are a PITA when connecting to a non-locking screw transmitter or audio device. My Sennheiser lav connects fine to the Mic 2, but will not connect to my Steinberg USB UR22. I fell in love with my Deity D4-Duo (bought it years ago, never really used it), now It works great as a desktop Mic connected to the Mic 2 transmitter, connected to the Mic 2 Reciever, connected via USB to my computer. (3 interconnects that work in realtime!).

It's so frustrating how inundated with sponsored "Reviews" UA-cam has become to the point where every time any new product comes out, all you can find is people regurgitating the companies marketing talking points, knowing full well if they say anything critical about the product they won't get paid to make more review videos in the future.

      I find it outrageous when commentators like you accuse hundreds of UA-camrs of spreading untruths through their channels as soon as they praise a product. And if someone comes along with critical statements, he is the hero. Do you realize what a trap you are setting for yourself? There are various UA-camrs who have my trust because I followed their suggestions and implementing them made me very happy. They also discussed the DJI Mic. With audio examples in different configurations. It's all ok. Of course, it has become common practice for such companies to make the product available to important UA-camrs before it is released so that the product launch videos can appear. That doesn't mean they get paid. There is always a corresponding disclaimer. And if someone is actually no longer served, then it will be a matter of heart to them to buy one themselves so that they can perhaps tear up the next product. All your insinuations are nothing but that: insinuations. What should you do after watching a video like this? His great Sennheiser has this typical Sennheiser screw cap that will never be able to fully retract into the microphone. I'm surprised how this UA-camr could assume that so easily. I can't explain the other phenomenon, but I'm hearing it this way for the first time. I've done very similar experiments with my new DJI and can't reproduce any of it. What does that tell us? The mistake this UA-camr makes is far too quick to turn his own personal problem into a general "This is what the new mic is like". I find that wrong, unfair and unacceptable. Above all, these sensational titles annoy me. I'll let a UA-camr I don't know tell me what I should or shouldn't buy.
