It’s so satisfying to see Nintendo invest so much ad time into this game - it’s a modern masterpiece and as many people need to experience it as possible.
The only real problems the original had were PS2-level graphics, some minor and mid-level bugs, and Makna Forest having a render distance of 2 feet. This remake is sure to fix them, hopefully making this game as close to a perfect RPG as you can get.
I can’t wait! It’s hard to believe a game with a large, amazingly-written cast, a fantastic story with believable twists and turns, amazing gameplay that always keeps you engaged and excited to play even after hundreds of hours of playtime, and a really satisfying level of exploration could exist, but it does and the only things holding it back are minor bugs or cosmetics that a remaster can very easily fix.
@@jerryborjon There was also the really badly designed HUD, but that's been fixed, too. It really is a perfect game now.

I have a WiiU version sitting on the side in case I want to revisit it. xD
As someone who worked on the Xenoblade HD Texture pack for Dolphin, I can attest how much time, money, and expertise Nintendo must have invested into this remaster. It's some serious next level updates to models, textures, UI. It looks really good.

@The Ostrich sure, we all know fan-boyism is bad, but the game is still widely panned as being great. While not as story engaging as the first one was or as well voice acted, it has a more intuitive and unique combat system, quest tracking is better handled, the side stories are better, the music is consistently great. We want the best of both from both games or a future title and it's important to highlight that fact.

XC2 was way too amateur feeling. The dancing scene and the maid scene was just awful to sit through. It really took away from the overall mood of the story.

This is gonna be one of the best selling games of 2020, I ain’t even gonna lie. People who don’t even usually play JRPGs are getting interested by these ads, and so many people have preordered this game. I’m really happy - this game is phenomenal.

SPOILER;....bought this game just to see what all the fuss was about. yesterday, i entered the imperial city alcomoth, im blown away by this game. its just the best JRPG Ive ever played. i'm 36 years old and this has topped them all. im playing over 10 hours a day and am as addicted as i was for zelda. the story, music and this world. i wonder if ill enter the mechonis continent. thank god i bought it......THIS IS A MASTERPIECE.

They could have easily made Future Connected paid DLC but they didn't. Props to Monolith Soft for making such great games and actually caring about their quality and the consumers. I've already played this a couple of times, but I can't wait to do it once again, lmao. As for the people who are playing it for the first time, you're going to have a blast. I promise. It has an amazing plot and (mostly) fun gameplay (soem bosses are so hard though, ughh) and now it has amazing graphics as well. I hope they add an easy mode, don't know if I'm the only one. The Xenoblade 2 easy mode helped me a lot.

I can't be the only person that noticed that the fast travel loading time was like a second?
Yeah, but it's always like that. It's because the fast travel between landmarks on the same land mass tend to already be loaded in so they just need to plop the characters down and it's really fast. When traveling between body parts of bionis, it takes a slightly bit longer, but if I'm real, this game has some of the fastest FAST travel I've seen in video games
I'm sadly sure that it's edited to seems instantaneous. But still, it is something worth optimization as it can be used often if you want to do lots of quests.

BOTH ARE MASTERPIECES. I preferred Xeno 2's gameplay but preferred xeno 1's story and connected world of bionis and mechonis. But the english VA in Xeno 1 is godlike.
I enjoyed XC2 combat a lot more than just simply scrolling between artes but I liked the simplicity of the story and characters. They didn't try too hard to make the game what it wasn't. They were confident and I like that

I really hope so. I’m really worried that only Shulk and Melia are going. They might be trying to push Melia as some sort of generic waifu, especially after Xenoblade 2’s release. The last thing I want is for Melia’s fantastic personality and complex character development to be replaced with anime waifu tropes and cliches. If Melia starts screaming “Pervert!” even half as much as Mythra, we’ll all have a great loss in our hands.
@@jerryborjon I think the epilogue is partially to finish Melia's character arc, so we needn't worry about pandering fan service
CowboySonic I... strongly doubt we have any concern for that. It’s very clear that FC’s main goal is to develop Melia. Monolith isn’t dumb, they won’t wreck their outstanding trophy.
That said, I’m expecting some level of Xenoblade 2-style comedy with the Nopon characters, based on this trailer. I’d be okay with that, so long as they don’t too off-the-rails with it (see Nia’s wanted poster scene, Poppi’s activation scene, most scenes that use the cheesy “generic anime” facial and sound effects, etc. for examples of “too far”). They definitely reigned themselves in with TGC, with only a couple outliers of “too far” (“My heart’s pounding” after important, emotional line scene is the worst offender I can recall), so I’m hoping that means they recognized the criticism for XC2.

I've put 400+ hours into Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and I loved it. I've never played the first one, but I can't wait to play it and put in as many hours.
I played this one before i will say YOU WON'T REGRET play this. Top notch story, voice actors are freakin amazing, great gameplay even though Xenoblade 2 a little bit polish and better. I cant imagine this Definitive Edition being so much better than it is
I've 100% game, and it only takes about 300hrs. You don't really feel it since it's so much fun to even do mundane side quests. I hope they add more content/ a hard mode.
This one is easily 700+ hours
@@sharkysaac 300hrs is a stretch. Unless you take it very slow you should be able to do full story, all quests, and every superboss on around 120 hours. That's about how long it took me. Achievements are a different story, though. I could see some of the really luck based ones taking forever because it's out of your control.
@@Technoblast649 Getting affinity coins is another thing. You have to play through the games multiple times to be able to get all of the affinity coins to be able to have OP shared affinity trees. I almost 100% the game my first playthrough. Then I actually 100% the second time. I didn't have a real way checking the wiki to finish half the quests, so i had to check them through the N3ds internet browser

The entire team at MonolithSoft created something very special and very magical with the Xenoblade Chronicles franchise that is still amazing that not only is the first Xenoblade a universally acclaimed game, but it also became the greatest JRPG of its generation and also helped revitalize the JRPG genre. Even after so many past projects from Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Baten Kaitos, it was Xenoblade Chronicles that shined a bright light at the studio and help them create a franchise that has garnered mainstream success and appeal, that they are satisfied with, and feel compelled and confident to further challenge themselves into what new ideas, inspirations, storytelling, and quality-of-life improvements they can make in their future projects they are currently working on. Whether that be for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Xenoblade X2, or even their brand new RPG project (The one featuring three different concept artworks) they may be working on. Xenoblade is MonolithSoft and Nintendo's Final Fantasy.

Playing games since I was a kid. 32 years old now. Xenoblade Chronicles is my 2nd favorite game of all time. Beat it twice on the Wii, once more on the 3DS. Eagerly waiting to beat it again on the Switch.

@@daffyfable1983 I personally think 1 is far, far better than 2; but this comes down to a matter of personal taste. The games are extremely different in tone. The first game's story is significantly darker and more serious in tone whereas the sequel feels way more like a modern comedy/harem anime. The writing in the first game is one of the best I've ever seen; while the writing in the second made me almost quit multiple times.
I'll also argue that while the combat is expanded in 2 and the 2nd game gives way more to do, it ultimately doesn't feel as satisfying or use your time as respectfully as the first. To me the first game is pretty much a perfect game, and the sequels are merely good games.
I'm sure you'll find others who disagree, though. I'm just giving my opinion.
Finally - 1 should definitely be played first, as 2 ruins one of the bigger plot twists in 1 at the end of the game.

@@Linkenfant No, the lines are the exact same. I'm saying that either they got all the old VAs back just to re-record the lines (for different inflections on the lines, more emotion, etc), or they just used all the old voice assets from the original game. Either way, character's voices are the same and the exact lines they say are the same. The only thing that may be different is the inflection in the lines (you know, due to VAs being older, having more experience in nearly 10 years to give more emphasis/oomph to line delivery, etc). But this is still gonna be the game of the early summer to play (or replay for some XD)
Nintendo, please pair up with Namco and bring a Xenosaga remake a reality! Many fans were heartbroken to hear the remake was scrapped due to not being marketable! If XCDE is successful, there's a chance Xenosaga could be reborn!

TARDISES I remember in like 2018 or something there was an interview where Monolithsoft were asked if they were going to port X to the Switch and they said that they wanted to but if they want to bring it over, they wouldn’t port it. They would fully remake it. Remake it to be like their original more story-based version of the game. But they also said they didn’t have time/resources at that moment to do it so I don’t think that’s happening anytime soon. Maybe after DE if it sells well? But judging by the fact they’re currently working on another IP, likely Breath of the Wild 2, and whatever else Nintendo is making them do, it’s not likely for the foreseeable future.

I still wonder about an alternate reality where the Monolith developers weren't all neophytes around the time that he was making his most ambitious stories, and executives never meddled in a misguided attempt to pander to the west (for 'saga). That's what's so dumb about Xenoblade 1. Shulk is essentially the only useful guy if you don't power your party up with the Monado. Such a dumb mechanic.

This is the best place to start! I also recommend Xenoblade X, but fair warning; that game places a greater focus on the exploration rather than the story. CowboySonic Yeah the worst thing about XCX is that so many people expected a story like XC1 when that's not what it was about. If they had named it something other than "Xenoblade" then it would be received better. The other big mistake of the game was that it was released on the WiiU.

@@lichwarri Ultimately, it's a preference thing. XC1 is much more grounded and serious in tone in comparison to XC2 (which was heavy on anime tropes, a thing that XC1 doesn't make heavy use of). XC2's biggest strength was its great cast of characters (in my personal opinion), while XC1's biggest strength is its masterpiece of a plot. Their battle systems are also very different, with XC1's having you move around much more than XC2's.
It's hard to accurately describe what would make one better than the other, because it's mostly personal preference. I personally think that XC1's story is much better than XC2's, and that's the primary reason I like it more. But, that's just me. That said, I do love both games. I'd recommend jumping right in and forming your own opinion!
@@lichwarri The story is much, much stronger overall imo. 2 is worse at using Chekhov's gun, a basic writing principle. That is, the concept of if something is written into a story it should be written in for a reason. "Don't bring a gun into a gunfight if it isn't going to be shot" essentially. Everything in XC1 is written in precisely for a reason, it WILL mean something later. XC2 on the other hand does not do this. Many plot points are abandoned or just have no reason to be there. For example, the entirety of Ch.4. XC1 is also a master of suspense and uses future-sight in such amazing ways throughout the story.
The tone of XC1 is also better imo, and not just because it is more grounded and serious. XC2 does not create consistent tones. One moment your only ally, Nia was kidnapped. The next you hear happy-go-lucky music and have a "haha funny tora wants a maid" moment. XC1's tone is consistent. The music fits the scene.
The characters are much more arguable, however. But Xenoblade 2's characters are closer to tropes. Occasionally they will deviate from these tropes, but you could call, for example, Mythra a tsundere and you'd essentially get the entire jest of her character. Xenoblade 1's characters with an exception of Reyn, are all incredibly multifaceted. Shulk isn't just a nerdy chosen-one type character. Dunban isn't just a wise voice of reason type character. The characters change through the story, and their roles change in the narrative.
Xenoblade 2's world is also fragmented, whereas Xenoblade 1's world is both incredibly unique and brilliant. The titans in XC1 aren't just there as landmasses either, they are incorporated into the story very well.
Don't let me make you think that I think Xenoblade 2 is a bad game, far from it. I think Xenoblade 2 is a pretty great game overall. I just am saying that Xenoblade 1 is not JUST a great game, it is a masterpiece. If you have not played it, you are in for a treat when DE releases. :D

Wow. I still remember clearly back in 2012? When i went to Gamestop to purchase this game, not knowing what to expect and just supporting the release of it, 25 hours later it got me hooked like no videogame has ever done it. Almost a decade later i am so happy to revisit Bionis.

Came into the series with 2, and after playing it, I was like "Yup. This series might end up being my #1 RPG series". Can't wait to sink many, many hours into the 1st game. And hopefully, a XCX port comes out so I can sink many many hours into that one too.
You’ll definitely enjoy them. Fair warning about X: The game places a much bigger emphasis on the exploration and gameplay than the story. The story is alright, but nothing compared to the story in Xenoblade 1. However, Xenoblade X is a game where, right after first getting control of the main character, you can immediately explore the entire map and even reach the max level and get endgame gear before you even fight the first real boss.

I disagree with Alex 100%, X, then 1, then 2 wayyyy farther down the line. But I'm gameplay first and X is iterative of 1's gameplay, only (eventually) faster and with vastly improved exploration. The battle system is very different from 2 in 1 and X, so hopefully you'll enjoy it. Starts a bit slow, but really picks up once you start learning a few arts and upgrading them

I just bought this physical on eBay tonight because I’ve a strong hunch I will love it. This will be my first XC game ever. The comments mentioning being envious of new players who get to experience this game for the first time ever have got me so excited to play.

I’m gonna add my own take on the remake/remaster topic. I personally think a remaster is the same game, but fixing/upgrading the assets (like new models, textures, etc), and the very few changes not having a big impact on the game as a whole, keeping it relatively the same. As for a remake, it takes the some base elements from the original, and then makes big changes to the story, combat, and other important features to create a completely new experience. The best examples I have of these two topics are XCDE and FF7R. XCDE is a perfect example of the remaster side, while FF7R is a perfect example of the remake side. XCDE kept the same game and just upgrading said assets, while FF7R changed story elements and combat making the game mostly different from the original.
If they plan their strategies well they just might survive!

One of the best games I have ever played. Very much looking forward to playing the Definitive Edition on Switch. I love how the world gets more expansive as you play and the story gets more intriguing the deeper you delve into the mysteries of the two factions.

I experienced this game for the first time on my 3ds. 240p, tiny screen, crowded ui, terrible speakers if I didn't have headphones. I still loved it. This game is literally my favorite game of all time, and I can't wait to play it in hd with a remastered soundtrack.

This is the upgrade XC deserves. It was phenomenal on Wii, but the hardware really held the presentation back. Glad this is getting a second(third?) chance. I ordered the Works edition as soon as I heard about it. Take my money.
I finished DQXI a month ago, got some rest of RPGs and now it's time to Xenoblade for the first time. I'm so thankful that we got so many major games during this time!
