I worked at the dodge dealership when the 4.7 came out. Over the year i was there as they were in their first year of service i seen not one come in for internal engine problems. That impressed me tho i never owned anything with that drivetrain, the fact they were selling like hotcakes and not one engine failure over a year in my area says something as i have seen people by the most unmessupable machines and find ways to mess them up such as the 50,000 mile oil change interval. Not one failure in the year i was there.
Never heard any issues with the 2.7 ecoboost in any cars other than half ton trucks. The motor was meant for smaller vehicles which makes sense why there are problems in the trucks. But not everyone will experience issues.
My friends dad had the 5.0 cummins bought it drove it to the gas station was aboit to head home and the entire drivetrain fell out. The dealership said oh well good luck
i wrote off toyota for the rest of my life after owning that toyota v6... after four headgaskets under warranty, i said never buying another toyota in my life... and havent!! the only reason i bought it in the first place was toyotas "legendary reliability"... haha yeah maybe back in the day but not anymore!!!!
Maintenance is key for that engine. Also, I recommend replacing the OE VCT solenoids with Fords revised solenoids. The engine should last for a few hundred thousand miles then.
So you mentioned the 5.9 magnum but not the 5.2 wich is just as reliable and no mention of the 5.9 6bt Cummins wich is every bit if not more reliable than the 24 valve
Yea great worst and best i can agree with for the most part. I’ve owned a couple of the best, but knew better about the worst. The two best I’ve had, one technically not actually on your list, was a 3.9 Magnum V6, I bought new in a 2003 Dakota Reg Cab SXT 4x4/5speed short bed. With 3:55 limited slip. I picked up in May, 2003, then after decent break in used it to tow 18’ UHAUL trailers back home to the Prov. RI area, from Eastern OHIO, 620ish miles one way. In just the truck with myself getting 20 mpg empty to Ohio, then 8 trips over a year averaging a total of 75 knock down red cedar picnic tables. With each at 70 lbs, I had 10 in the bed and the rest in the trailer, averaging 4,200lbs of tables in a 1,900 lbs tandem axle inclosed utility trailer at about 6,100 lbs trailer weight, plus the truck, myself and tables and full tank of gas at a Cat Scale GCVW of 11,400lbs, against a factory tow rate of 6,000 lbs and CGVWR of 11,000 lbs. that required 5-10 mpg with the ability to hold the 55 mph on the longest hill on Rt 80 in PA, if I downshifted to 4 th gear at a sweat spot of 3,600 rpm’s just feathering the gas pedal! I made a trip about every 5-6 weeks, at 1,240 miles round trip plus added reg commuting equals 3,000 oil changes using NO Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w30! Between these trips and weekend beach bombing trips that little engine was fantastic. That 3.9 by the way was a 5.9 with two cylinders removed! That was rated at 175 hp @4,200 rpm, 225 lbs.ft. Tq @ 3,400 rpm. When I traded that truck in2014 on a new Charger R/T AWD, it looked as good as new and got $8,000 towards trade in, with over 140,000 miles!
My 1990 dodge with a 5 speed and a 360 has well over 250,000 mile as the od stop counting the mile 20 years ago. An my 2000 f250 has well over 320k in it use it. To haul farm equipment and the like for years.
who wrote this shit why show crank bearings and talk about camshafts why praise GM other truck engs when talking about the 5cyl atlas with 5.7 diesel in their past ralph Know nothing nader must be behind this crap.

Triton - The act of jabbing the owner's wallet with a trident 🔱.
How does the Toyota 3VZE manage to make both the worst and best list?
5.4L 3v is shit
Yeah no. 2.7 ecoboost is great.
Agreed! As a 5yr Ford technician, I rarely worked on them. Only thing I've seen repeat repairs are plastic oil pans but video never mentioned that
@ToneysWorld this video is way off
@@leadhead9232 did you get your feelings hurt?
Powerstroke - The condition of the vehicle's owner upon receiving the repair bill.

250000 on my Cherokee
i've got one of those 4.7 liter dodge motos in my dakota, she's got issues and leaks everything but she's still runnin mint at 374,000 miles.
I had a 07 Dakota with the 4.7L, it ran like a top it didn’t leak anything it was probably one of the best engines in a truck that I’ve had so far
What about the 5.9 12v Cummins? That is actually by far the best engine ever built along side the 7.3 PowerStroke.
Meanwhile, my 2.7 is flawless with 60,000 miles 2021
I only heard good things about it. I heard they over engineered because it was originally going to be a diesel motor.
Never heard any issues with the 2.7 ecoboost in any cars other than half ton trucks. The motor was meant for smaller vehicles which makes sense why there are problems in the trucks. But not everyone will experience issues.
The 6.7 Cummins you forgot to mention the H.O version which has 420 horsepower and 1,075 lb ft of torque
Anybody remember that converted i think 350 chevy GM diesel , That thing was a heap of junk !
They did... it was...
The 2.7 is actually the best of the ecoboost engines. This videos was just someone's opinion
My friends dad had the 5.0 cummins bought it drove it to the gas station was aboit to head home and the entire drivetrain fell out. The dealership said oh well good luck
The new Ecodiesel is an awesome reliable engine

So far, my 5.4L Triton 3V has been reliable. But they require maintenance. I'm at 82k miles and going.

Another supposed i info video with chevy ties... smdh... the 6.4 was so bad that it made the 6.0 look like a 7.3... also a motor ford didn't design..
