You speak first hand from what you have observed living in China. After living in South Africa I'm sure you've developed a keen eye of observation for your survival. Your awesome stay safe. Thank you for being brave enough to share the truth.
If they had this one child only policy for so long how did they get such a huge population?
@ I don't need to do research thank you. Merely asking. I know all I need to know about that f'd up place.
I lived in China for a while too and I also noticed that a lot of these kid killers are single men. They don't have children of their own so they have no hope of retiring because like you said, kids are basically a person's pension plan. So these killers are jealous... It doesn't matter if these kids are rich or poor. I've worked in private language schools and some parents are filthy rich, and others go into debt borrowing money to give their kids English lessons. So the killer's jealousy turns into a mental health issue because he's constantly worried for his future to the point that it is ingrained in his psyche. Imagine struggling to feed, clothe, and put a roof over your head your entire life because you're born poor and never had a proper education so you're just stuck in poverty forever.
Secondly, mental illness is a major problem. Rich or poor, mental and emotional problems go untreated. I taught college in China and most of them came from rich families.... And they're nuts! They're total delinquents being kicked out of public school so their parents send them off to a "special program" at a college that prepares them for an education outside of China as a last resort. And that's where I came in. I had some insane delinquents... A few were incarcerated too! Parents don't care. They just pay off the judges and police and shove their kids back in school while they leave the country for a while. A lot of them never actually parented their kids... It's always their nannies or grandparents who looked after them and gave them whatever they wanted and yet they'll get violent with me when they're addicted to online gaming and refuse to turn in their smartphones during tests and exams. Other students come from small towns and villages where parents worked night and day to provide so they weren't around to parent their kids. So both the poor and rich kids feel neglected or not important to their parents. That begins to eat away at their psyche too and they take it out on me and my peers. There's a high teacher burnout for a reason. People born with mental issues but look and sound perfectly normal go unnoticed or parents deny it because of the stigma. You have no idea how many times parents have said their kids are just "lazy".... No, they're "crazy" (swearing at, pushing and hitting and throwing things at teachers and classmates are not normal) and there is nothing teachers can do. I even suggested to a parent of a violent student to seek counseling for their son. The mother brushed it off and said he gets violent with her too and has been like that since he was a baby. And she saw nothing wrong with that? 😲
Special ed teachers are in dire need in China. People with psychological and emotional problems are not treated because there is basically no professionals to deal with them and the social system does not provide, and secondly, parents deny or refuse to acknowledge it because they lose face if word gets around for having a disturbed child.
I broke my foot and had to use crutches and you wouldn't believe the evil stares I got on the street. Any impairment, even temporary, is looked down upon. It pissed me off so imagine it on a young impressionable mind of a child who is born with a permanent physical handicap or worse, a mental one?
You should maybe seriously, start your own channel. I’d subscribe. Or I wonder whether our host’s channel is big enough now to be a kind of platform, with guests.
Wow I learn something new. What china did in the past 30 years is build building , road, train and technology. China is breaking down . technology don't make society people make society. There is a price to pay for everything. The model Chinese build is flaws for its people. This is why Chinese are invading other countries to survive.
80sbabe ..."No, they're "crazy" (swearing at, pushing and hitting and throwing things at teachers and classmates ..." except for the parents strong desire to provide their child with the best educational possibilities, I was beginning to think that you were talking about blacks in America and Canada.
@80sbabe - Touché! I learned something valid and new today, thanks to you!

Cheating, Scams, theft, that is China. Violent crime is low in China.
The USA is a petty country with an orange Julius Caesar as president. The USA was great, until about 30 years ago.
There are a lot of school stabbings in China that are done by kids as well. It's just that you don't see them in big cities. But it's quite common in small towns. Many parents are busy gambling and their kids are neglected so many of them are turning their loneliness and frustration into violence. When I grew up , there were a couple of kids that were getting killed in my hometown every once in a while. And it was never reported publicly. I think this issue is more severe than the kind of mass stabbing that Wiston are talking about. Because few people really cared about these dead kids other than their families and freinds because they are so-called " bad kids".
@Tacticus_ It's hard for us to be religious because there were too many famines and disaster in our history. Faith can be easily crushed. Just like Lao-tzu says " Heaven and earth are indifferent. All creatures are considered straw dogs".

@NoPain NoGain that's totally racist
There was an interesting talk done I can't remember where. Unlike how some people who view gambling as very expensive entertainment, gambling is a game against the gods. Thanks for the bravery you demonstrate dealing with this sensitive and difficult issues
So far I don’t like the culture of censorship in the Mainlands. It prevent people from actually addressing the issues to improve society. Instead it creates a mindset of denial and avoidance.
I’m glad my mother and father fought hard to leave China because they knew beside the government problem there are social problems that would never be fixed.
Sure the government is heavy on the censorship to prevent social unrest but at the end the problem is still there. The problems is just swept under the rug as if nothing happened. But long term affects is more unaddressed issues will continue and grow.
That's where I have to disagree, mass stabbings and kid napping are not censored in china nor on chinese social media, no offense just because your parents came from china doesn't mean you know what chinese social media is like. The media tend to talk a lot more about kid nappings and drug dealing and using because it's more often than stabbings. homicide and murders is something that china can't not fix nor prevent but alot of ppl talk about, I think you just don't know that.
I think we have the opposite effect in the West. The media is constantly talking about school shootings and instead of discussing the actual causes like dangerous psychotropic drugs, violence in public schools in general and the abuse of children in foster care, they just want to remove guns from law abiding citizens.
Tracy Spose actually this topic you brought but has actually been talked about in the US. Depending on which social media platform and news outlet the stories is addressed differently. The problem is the leftist has their own agendas about how they want to address the issue. Majority of the mass shootings are done in schools are done by students with psychological issues. Many were bullied in school and are considered social outcast. Many don’t actually have a history of child abuse or part of any foster care programs.
Also the mass shooter all seem to be people with similar issue. People who are loners and antisocial, people who don’t have much friends. Also strangely many mass shooters are inspired by other mass shooters.
About violence in the intercity like Baltimore, Detroit, and Chicago etc. It has a lot to do with gang violence, drugs and single mother households. Those local communities are killing themselves since there are a lot of internal issues. That there isn’t a stable family environment for the people who grew up in those type neighborhoods.
Tian Hao Wang the question I have to ask you. Do you try to address the issue of why these subject matter happened? Why people use drugs? Why people go and stab children’s in school? Why people kidnapped children?
You aren’t addressing the issue or even the motivation behind the issue if you just look at it and say. “Oh it’s just drugs.” Or “Oh they are just crazy.”
There are drug dealers because there is a demand for drugs. The reason there is a demand for drugs is because of the people who use the drugs has some kind of void they need to fill. Addiction correlates with depression. There has been a studies that shows most people that lack purpose or have a feeling of hopelessness, and depression tend to reply substance abuse.
Just like murder and homicide there is always a motivation behind why people do what they do.
I think most people want a simple answer.
So far the mass stabbing in schools in China has a common pattern. Addressing these common patterns could prevent children fro, getting hurt.
@@CrimsonEclipse yes I agree on many of your points. The shooter in Parkland was very troubled, an outcast and in foster care.
The recent shooters in Walmart in El Passo and the one in Ohio were both ANTIFA members. Leftists who want to have all guns confiscated.
Society is moving away from actual problem solving and toward one-size fits all legislation because of the massive push of fascist globalism. Most of our institutions have been infultrated by this propaganda, particularly MSM.

South Africa is a dangerous place
What a stupid thing to randomly say. His family are white so they are the safest racial demographic in the country. Stop trying to play victim.
@Eyre Borne that's right, just ignore what I said so you can criticise South Africa. What I said was that white people are the safest racial group in South Africa. In terms of the homicide rate, the total number of white people murdered each year in South Africa (by anyone including other whites) is approx 345 (whites are almost twice as likely to die from skin cancer as they are to be murdered). The 345 number comes from white people being 1.8% of the annual total of 19,000 murder victims which 5 times less than their 8.4% population rate would suggest, i.e. *WHITE PEOPLE IN GENERAL ARE 5 TIMES LESS LIKELY TO BE MURDERED THAN IF ALL MURDER VICTIMS WERE CHOSEN COMPLETELY AT RANDOM.* They are the least likely group to be murdered in South Africa by a very, very, very long way. Now that you know that, please stop pretending to give a shit about what happens in South Africa and sort out the Opioid Epidemic in white America that's killing 70,000 mostly white people every year.

This was incredibly eye-opening. Was aware of the mass stabbing issue in China, but never really considered why.
Winston, thanks for another great video. I really appreciate your sense of morality and justice. You are an example of how making good decisions leads to a fulfilling life.
Yes, exactly this situation happened during the last couple of years I was in Shanghai. Kids were attacked outside a school, one died. The guy was a loose cannon, who had no connection to the victims. The local media did cover it, and reported that he was disgruntled about being underprivileged and having no hope, jealous of the hope others seemed to have. So yes, Winston, you hit the nail on the head about all the motives in play concerning this issue. People aren't oblivious to the issue though, but to discuss it raises questions about the actual harmony in society..
I know that my school I was working at doubled the guards on the front gate and had a regular police presence in the street after hearing of this incident in the neighbouring school. I did get the feeling however that it was a random incident. You are being quite the reporter in bringing our attention to it being more of a widespread phenomenon.

The-Man-Who-Chortles It’s very biased, just like American media. If I’d make a 12 minute video about shootings in Belgium, Chile or NZ then it can be very informative, but also create the impression that these are the most dangerous places in the world.

You can get arrested for upsetting the 'harmony' in Britain. Just ask Tommy Robinson.
Tommy Robinson was arrested for live-streaming defendants going into a court which is contempt of court. Let's keep things real and honest here.
Same with Dieudonné in France
@@BarriosGroupie they were already found guilty and were there for a sentencing hearing, the verdict was not in danger so no "crime" was commited!
Argle Bargle Robinson's criminal record also includes convictions for violence, financial and immigration frauds, drug possession, and public order offences. He had previously served at least three separate custodial sentences: in 2005 for assault, in 2012 for using false travel documents, and in 2014 for mortgage fraud. In July 2011, at Luton and South Bedfordshire Magistrates' Court, Robinson was convicted of using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour, for leading a group of Luton Town F.C. supporters into a brawl involving 100 people in Luton on 24 August 2010. I heard all the rich Chinese are either government officials or their children without exception and the rural villiagers we're never allowed to have anything and just as poor as before.
@ Paul w interesting, I live in NZ and it isn't much different
that's bullshit. Most middle-class Chinese families got their money in the property boom or as Winston says, by being in the right place at the right time. Shanghai's first millionaire was a hairdresser. The super-wealthy are usually at least communist party members, because at a certain level of wealth you get too much scrutiny if you aren't, and most big businesses are required to have an internal CCP committee that rubber stamps their decisions, but there is a big difference between that and "all rich people are government officials or their children".
Thank you for your work, greetings from austria!

Authoritarianism + capitalism, not really communist especially with how the businesses work there.
@@-empty.hallways-9739 You are very right. In fact, I'd even say that Communist governments are never truly communist. They are always corrupted so far from the unreachable communist ideal that they inevitably require a tyrant to maintain order and unity. And no global leader can free itself from the reality of the market and capitalist principals, so markets must be navigated, even with the supervision of the State. Maybe I should be more nuanced and say: "Governments ostensibly promoting communism. Ugh."

same this phrase is a bit hurtful to some people in the society
I thought this too, but knowing Winston, it just wasn't how he worded it but he didn't legit mean he doesn't care about the children elsewhere, just that the problem at hand he wants to discuss is specifically this and he doesn't want it derailed talking about other issues atm. Remember, China doesn't really sugar coat things and doesn't have the politically correct culture the west has so I think sometimes things like this come across differently to us even though Winston didn't mean it negatively.

Feeling disenfranchised from society is something similar between this and school shootings. Outcast young student, outcast older guy.
Social ostracization produces equivalent effects neurologically to that of physical torture.
I think you are definitely right, and that winston seems to miss this important connection. All the mass tragedies have been performed by people who are out of touch with the rest of society and feel excluded. It also seems that they retreat to echo chambers and build up a reality that is vastly different than the real world, hear the same thing over and over, until they decide to go out and do something bad. Not just school shootings and stabbings, also islamic extremists, new zealand thing, etc etc.
It has to do with being brainwashed in a sense, that you get out of touch with the real world, and get pulled into a fabricated fake world. For this, you need isolation.

Or, to put it in other words, I dont think it is anyones choice to either force them in exile, or for them to make that choice themselves. It is a natural progress where they fall into. Some parts of society might push them more into one direction, or for example the way they think might push them into a certain direction, but its much more complex than saying that they choose to do so, or that they are forced to do so.
@@tHaH4x0r i didnt mean blame at all, i meant the simple black and white fact of, whomever is too blame, what unwittingly happens is, given society as it is: these people would of course be happy and accepted and loved by all but are squeezed out against their will and become bitter and then monsters because of it. Well in Japan Kawasaki city there was also a school stabbing happened on May 2019, one elementary girl was killed, and 17 children seriously injured. Mental illness is a world wide phenomenon, a crazy person will harm innocent people regardless which country you live in.
Well that is not what we are talking is it
I won't lie I kind of miss the adventures and talking about the day to day in China. But I'm still Glad Winston is bringing attention to real issues and trying to protect children.
Keep doing what you're doing and I'll keep watching.
Green screen B role thats different, keep up the good work of explaining things that others will not.
I didn't initially recognize the 'green screen' and wondered why the folks in line just ignored him. Me
I thought he was standing on the street like any other video...UNTIL THE GIANT CHINESE PEOPLE NEARLY TRAMPLED HIM.
Goes to show how much you truly love China...Talking about bad stuff to make a better future
thank you for the work your doing to bring this issue out in the open
I read a NYTimes article the other day on this exact thing (Chinese school stabbings) and thier explanation for it was the same as yours: Wealth disparity
I think some of the cases were not due to wealth disparities, but more about social injustice and lacking resolutions.
@@wfireC yes those things, and as Serpentza mentions, the absence of mental health treatment facilities. So unstable people are not helped but left to deteriorate
@@dominicm255 WBat I am talking about has nothing to do with mental health issues, and it is something else that showed up even today. For example, some people still feel they are entitled to do things to others without consequences.
Sounds like the sound of the 50 cent army coming this way.
We are here sir! 我们在这里!
@Marshall Kinnaird they all are. Funny thing is is that serpentza called out China uncensored but they're not very different lol
@@beijingbacon2389 They are very very different. "China uncensored" is a guy who has issues...like typical American issues...and crazy points of view. Like he wants China to allow cults and sects to exert controll on it's citizens... . I would say "China uncensored" has a very anti enlightenment point of view.
Serpentza on the otherhand is just voicing his frustration about the way china has changed. And he is not wrong. China has become place increasingly more difficult to feel free. And we all know who is responsible for the desaster of China becoming a hostile place for it's own and foreign people.
Prot Tip: It's not Hu Jintao, as this guy was great and comparativle humble!
Whats that shelly? Kids getting stabbed in china!? MUST BE THE PANDAS!
@@TremereTT Yes true, no one is as extreme as China uncensored.
Child-slash-investment-slash- retirement plan. Unfortunante phrasing when talking about child stabbings, Winston. Great video, though. Good luck with your campaign.
@steve crawford spam was referring to the word "slash", which is unfortunate when talking about stabbings, because a slash is similar to a stab.
""No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."" Matthew 6:24
Matthew never said that. He really said “y’all really bout to bust a nut in the anus, what a legend”
There is no solution for it except the whole society think about what is wrong with this chilly society, but very sadly most of Chinese don't think there is anything wrong in China. it is just happened time and time again, for decades.----A Chinese subscriber.
When you are in pain for so long, you become numb about the pain.
I asked my Chinese wife, why Chinese men, in the past, wore their hair in pigtails, with the rest shaved and she called me a racist. Turned out later, she didn't know the reason.
so, many, com,mas,
Healthy relationship and.. why did your wife marry a racist? ;)
david c samari warriors didn’t want anyone able to grab their hair... is what I was told...lol
Maybe because you were laughing while asking.? With a smug face?
i was my chinese friends house. on their tv was a war movie. i watched a little but it was in chinese so i did not understand the dialog. i saw there were american army guys there and i asked my buddy about it. he said it was the war between the usa and china. i said there has never been a war between the usa and china. he laughed and said all the american's were the bad guys in their movies. later i asked another friend about the war and he said yeah we beat the usa in that war. so propaganda is so strong they believe it really happened. now to the run of the mill chines they believe it.
you are so informative with information in China. keep up the good work. Not sure why there are so many hates out there.
The one child policy has had long lasting consequences.
Yea ... i am no expert but i think that it would've been better if they made it 2 child policy instead of 1 from the beginning because idk but 1 child policy seems kinda depressing lol but hey it's probably still better than having 10 children and ruining the country !
@@RoniiNN They can have two children now, but people cannot afford it.
@@RoniiNN Yes, but poorer people cannot afford to raise two children in a city now, although they are allowed to have them.
Only China, India, and Mexico EXPORT millions of their own people. These three countries need a No Child policy for at least twenty years. Every other country in the world should refuse to take in persons from China-India-Mexico. Any country that exports millions of its own people is a failed country. Why are there allowed to be 50 million Chinese expats living in other countries of the world, when China does not grant reciprocal rights to foreign expats who are married in China?
@@susangarcia6233 Yeap, but China has too many people to worry about the rights of foreigners, they don't want more people and they don't even care if their own citizen leave the country. "If you don't like then go away" and that's why there're more than 50mill ex-chinese .
Good video Winston! A controversial subject but handled with respect and within the lines. Couldn't have said it better. Love your channel keep up that good work 💛
all your videos are frickin awsome man.... theyre like proper documenterys lol :)
Excellent show and very enlightening.
Hey, thank you for this video, we’ve been looking for an explanation and we finally have one. Thanks for the effort, keep it up!
Ps: came here from an Italian creator called “Breaking Italy”, answering his quest with this video was awesome, I really do believe in Creators and in this fabulous community
People all over the world find a way to hurt others, whether it be bombs, guns, knives, or just driving cars into crowds. It's all the same problem.
ReticulatingSplines let’s not forget the new one in U.K. Throwing acid on someone.
Stay strong your videos are amazing. Thank you
Dear Mr Serpentza, First of all, I really admire your courage, well-balanced view, your endeavour and your obsession to do good and to educate society. You are an awesome guy. My wishful thinking is to ask God to bless you as you deserve it. You are really building bridges between cultures, between old vs liberal mindset. People like you should exist in large numbers so as they could bring some real tangible change. I was born in India and currently live in the UK, have experienced the same predicament as yours. I wish you all the very best for you.
Italian news UA-camr called you out for being a hood link to understanding the stabbing of kids in China.
I have known and followed you from a long time alredy, happy to see you being called out in a foreign channel (in another language).
"called out" and ""shouted out" mean different things. "called out" makes it sound like he is saying that serpentza is doing something bad
@@zergreenone8111 oh! He meant it in a good way then? I was confused until I read your comment. Thanks for the clarifying remark! Grazie.
I wonder if is also has to do with there being so many jealous men that can never get married..
Many of our mass shooters are hate motivated, perpetuated by people who are on improper psychiatric medication, are from broken homes...Men especially here are encouraged not to show vulnerability and many don’t reach out for help when they need it. Also, parents aren’t raising and guiding their kids as much. The motivations and circumstances are vast.
My heart goes out to the families and friends of the unfortunate children whose lives were taken by these monsters.
Chinese school of mental health:
1. The cause of every problem is insufficient pain and suffering.
2. The only solution is more pain and suffering.
It doesn't matter where I go in my experience, anywhere with Chinese society works the same way.
This is true and deep.
And what about the mass spitting ?
P.S. Did you hear about the Chinese who his friends got him a birthday surprise party ?
....It was a real eye opener.
Winston has lived in 3 different countries and barely references his South African roots anymore, so he will lack empathy of understanding social dynamics behind why some Chinese spit. It has to do with a large amount of migration of peasants and rural workers to the cities that still have that rural mentality of the countryside where social norms are more relaxed. For some reason there exists this holier-than-thou condescending attitude LARPing as if the west is still Victorian England today, yet we know this to be quite far from reality. It takes generations sometimes for old habits to change, and will change for China in time. Nearly everyone who brings up "spitting" as a problem seem to not understand that this will fix itself in time, but I guess it ruins their hedonism or "experience" today, so it must be fixed now. A Very Millennial Entitled Attitude, ironically!
vaguely funny racism
How about dropping trou and pooping in-place? That’s not fixed yet, in San Francisco.
As a matter of fact, jealousy is not the main factor in this situation, it’s that they got bullied by the government sometimes scammed by some scammer and they are afraid of the government or the government isn’t there to help them out, they just decided to take out their anger on someone weaker than them.
*Why do the Chinese invest in their kids for retirement instead of investing in normal investments like assets etc?*
*What happens if their retirement fund child dies or isn't able to generate the retirement income like they had hoped?*
I don't think it's a literal 'investment' in their children in the sense that they're pouring more money into them than is usual. I think the problem is that they don't have money to invest in the first place and so they depend on their kids when they are older to provide housing and food for them. It used to be like this in the West too but now we have retirement plans we work for decades on. So keep in mind what China was like just a few decades ago, there wasn't any way for the average person to invest. Younger people in China today will face a huge burden with their parents soon. Hopefully they don't expect their children to have to do this too.
old age pensions in china haven't gone up in years, food and rent however go up very steeply
Old people should move back to the countryside.

What an interesting analysis of a difficult subject. Eyeopening
Acceptance and acknowledging the problem exists is essential in moving towards a solution for this heinous crime! For the sake of these precious children it must be done.
There’s even a “God of Wealth” in Chinese culture. 😂
There is also a god of prostitutes, a god of gangsters, etc.

"So what is with all the mass stabbings in China?" *smiles awkwardly*
@Mrdarkbluewatet
I noticed that, also. It looked me as though he was attempting to cover becoming emotional. It's apparent that this issue is very difficult for him. Just my sensing.
Wow those last words were admirable! Well said cuz it's hard for people to accept constructive criticism but it helps. It's not a bad thing to acknowledge problem, it's the only way to start improving.
This is the first I heard of this, and I spend a lot of my time online.
Sad that it happens but when you think about it the social frustration needs to come out somewhere.
Best Korea is the safest, that kind of stuff doesn’t occur here
Yup, in my 22 years there, I can count the times there were mass shootings or stabbings. Zero. Lots of teens jumping off apartments when their school scores were 99 instead of 100, but mass violence? Nope.
Many coupes are attempted and strikes through
Yes, knives are too expensive
Just got to avoid being executed with a flame thrower, otherwise good.
@HangGlideTube Sounds expensive, must be for high-profile traitors.
I have seen some video and some news reports abt this issue. The extreme income inequality did not occur to me. I assume the knife attack incidents are censored. Do you have any idea; even a guess abt how many attacks there are in an average year?? Do you know if there is a more common geographic area where they happen?? Or, More common near cities where the income disparity is more common? Also, I assume that murder is punishable by death. If so, what is the common method?? Hanging? Firing squad? Very interesting topic. Thanks.
This is unrelated but I’m just curious about this. I work in a tourism business in the uk and whenever I get Chinese customers they love taking pictures of me. It’s very weird. They would be whole groups waiting to shake my hand and take pictures with me while they hand me the money or I hand them the product. It’s not even a fancy place it’s just a normal store. Why do they do this ?
I didn't know the scale of this, I'd heard of a few many years ago. Thanks for the info.
