The true gracie method is where it's at. Allowing strikes is absolutely the original method. It's how we train all day long. Sure rolling is great but once you put on the 4oz'ers that's when the art of jiu jitsu really shines. Plus, why train in BJJ if you're not going to simulate a real fight scenario? If your camp or academy isn't allowing strikes, you're not getting the right training. Love Combat jits. This is where it's at.
You make it sound like this is full-on mma, but it's just slaps... Great to see how the bjj-1st guys fare in actual combat-like scenario mma, like Demian Maia or jacare Souza.
why did Ben Eddy fight against Nick Honstein for the bantamweight title at EBI 15 when Chad George won the "CJJ worlds" for the Bantamweight title at this tournament here....so it should have been Ben Eddy vs. Chad George at EBI 15, cuz Nick Honstein was eliminated in the first round at "CJJ Worlds tournament".... can someone explain please, i'm confused
This is fantastic. Bring in elbow, knee and punches to the body. Slaps, elbows, knees andkicks to the head. kicks to the legs and body, and up kicks from the bottom, and we are gonna see some fantastic combat jiu jitsu that would make the world, martial arts community and gracie jiu jitsu very, very, very proud.
Thunder Hammer I know ever single fucken time go to a bjj tournament I’ll do a takedown or trip if slam and the other guy wins or they take a point like wtf
I agree, but if they allowed slams and throws, jiu jitsu wizards with their funky guard pulls would get obliterated against a wrestler, it's falsifying the fact with that stupid rule of no slams that somehow the jiu jitsu fighter gets the advantage even though he gets thrown across the room, ridiculous.
Slams should be allowed cause they are legitimate. Pulling guard really pisses me off cause if your whole martial art is ground fighting and you can’t take a guy down then it’s useless. And why would you just walk into a guy’s guard if that’s where he wants to be? I’d just round backwards in circles and there’d be nothing he could do but butt scoot like a dog with an itchy arse whole.
slams should be very clearly allowed and a huge part of the game, as it is now, even in mma it's kind of a gray area and it's kind of a unspoken rule to not really do them , so no one trains for them and everyone just kinda ignores that they're there. that's why Rose got her cute lil head hurt that shit broke my heart so bad.
This is the direction BJJ needed to go in, in order to avoid losing it's real life self defense application. Striking is just another weapon, it's not the antithesis of grappling, and seeing BJJ guys embracing it like this is beyond cool. I can't wait to see where this goes.

You could have this in judo where you have to start with a throw/take down, no guard pull, and where you have limited time on the ground before you are stood back up.
As someone who doesn't know these submission artists, should Show Nameplates dictating color a few times in the match. maybe 2x per round for a couple seconds?
good idea
Listen to the commentator
I am watching this 5 years later but i love it ! the tournament style is the best !
If your not the biggest jiu jitsu fan. This whole event becomes amazing just from that lightweight final.
Eddie you must be happy as, mate.
This is fucking awesome man.
Thank you Edgie Brah, appreciate the upload dude
Wow. How is Uncle Renach not involved in this? Not a man more qualified than the 27 chimey champ.
Vladimir Lesukov Because Eddie does not want to deal with people dying.
Cos he's an unfunny prick
Would be unfair to the other competitors. Uncle hentach has too much respect for the sport to embarass these bums.
Vladimir Lesukov to busy smoking the heefer with Joe Hogan
That intro made me feel like I was part of some BJJ-DMT cult.

I love listening to Eddie bravo talk, the guy is a genius.
Absolutely awesome Eddie!! Great job to all the participants.
This is more realistic than bjj sports. We all know if strikes were involved a bunch movements would be harder to pull off!
Totally agree. What I like is that there are tiers to BJJ. Folks that just want to learn and roll in class...sports comp (gi and no gi), now THIS ..and then full on MMA. Keeps it real and interesting.
Couldn't agree more. These were fantastic matches, commentary and explanation. Loved it.
That's the idea.
Well why not just actual mma?

You'd have matches of boxing, kicks, and knockouts with no grappling. They want to encourage and evolve grappling jiu-jitsu. Hard to do when you have an option to completely avoid that aspect of fighting.
I can't believe I watched 19 minutes of this before I decided to forward the video!, my god they over did the introduction
Ty
Thanks u just saved me 20 minutes or so.
I like that this is sponsored by weed

Eddie created something really special with this event.
Thank you Eddie for letting us watch this! I enjoyed the event! Hope to see more.
Palm strikes..4oz gloves aint helping with that bro
You make it sound like this is full-on mma, but it's just slaps... Great to see how the bjj-1st guys fare in actual combat-like scenario mma, like Demian Maia or jacare Souza.
@@ryanrizley2955 We don't do palm strikes when we put on the 4's. I was simply making a point.

I was just going to check it out because I thought it would be a joke, but its legit as fuck. Great job Eddie Bravo

why did Ben Eddy fight against Nick Honstein for the bantamweight title at EBI 15 when Chad George won the "CJJ worlds" for the Bantamweight title at this tournament here....so it should have been Ben Eddy vs. Chad George at EBI 15, cuz Nick Honstein was eliminated in the first round at "CJJ Worlds tournament".... can someone explain please, i'm confused
Vagner Rocha truly found his calling in this ruleset.
The production quality of this is amazing, who needs films
Palm strikes are legal but no slams!? You can do that in freestyle, come on!
Thunder Hammer I know ever single fucken time go to a bjj tournament I’ll do a takedown or trip if slam and the other guy wins or they take a point like wtf
Slams should be allowed so we can see how it changes the game
Renato laranja would of choked out all of them. #27timebjjchamp

You were great on the fight companion last night.
That fucking story about the chick blowing you was one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
Joe Morrell think that was all he said! Was like he wasn't there!
J2daP UK I wonder if it was because Jimmy was there talking about himself non stop and generally soaking up a lot of Joe's attention.
Sober Edgy is less edgy.
Jimmy seems like a cool dude
Joe Morrell super funny
watched this last night on my TV... great broadcast!
Awesome! And I get the whole show! And I'm watching this while on the clock! My life is so good today :-)
Good stuffs I shall return to my BJJ class one day.
I think when the ref calls a stop to the action then the time counter should stop.
Who else is here for the slaps?
This is great..makes you constantly work
Eddie Bravo: Changing the world little by little.
Nice one EB
Complexicity.
"Is that even a word ha ha?" Kelvin laughs out of joy everytime they start ground and pounding.
Complexicity,, its less complex than that haha
the ref looks straight out of WoW
Thanks Eddie. After watching this I got the ufc fight pass specifically so I can watch all of the EBI's and CJJ.
@Eddie Bravo This is awesome!! One of the most exciting things I've ever seen. Thank you.
I love that JM Hollands stayed on the dudes back for 3 min but didn't hv an answer to the armbar. Now I'm utubing armbar escapes.
