What a beautiful way to honor Brigid and celebrate the return of light 💛 I'm dreaming of the snowdrops and hellebores that will hopefully arrive in early March ... warmest wishes from snowy Illinois 🕯️
The light is growing daily, and I am so looking forward to Imbolc. There is a new moon in the sign of Aquarius that day. It's lovely to share the shifting seasons with you, Terri.
I have the remnants of our snowfall from last week here in South Carolina (US) as well. We got 8 inches, which I believe is about 20 cm. Not as much as you all, but as we are not accustomed to snow in my part of the world, it was a big deal to us.
That was interesting to hear about, and oh there you sat on the beautiful herb house on a beautiful day in Connemara, thank you so much for sharing with us.
I love watching both you and Colette at Bealtaine Cottage get ready for Imbolc in Ireland. Here in Canada we will still be in the deep freeze for a few more weeks, but it gives me hope to see both of you starting to welcome the first signs of spring. You help me get very excited to welcome the light back (the sun is finally a little bit warm again, even here!) and the beautiful message that Brigid brings at this time of year.
My birthday is Feb 2, so I consider myself a Imbolc baby. Aquarians are my favorite people! =) Thank you for the chickens. They are so amazing. And I saw the little robins popping in too. Spring is coming!
Delightul weather and you are looking so well. The burning of the figure at the end of a year is also practiced in Japan at New Year. We take our arrow or other objects purchased the year before for good luck or health and return to the temple and all are burned. We buy another. Gives the shinto shrine a bit of money. Paper garlands are wrapped around special trees too.
Very nice. Reminds me of the Yule Goat tradition in some ways. It will be 53F (12C) and sunny here tomorrow (Sunday) and the first two of my planned six new herb beds arrive. I'll be digging and leveling for quite a bit to prep for them. I need to take a 'before' picture of the area; so much is planned. Thank you for yet another wonderful video.
Imbolc blessings for you and yours. It's so good to see the old ways still honoured. I remember making these as a child. Thanks for the lovely memories. 💜
Aww, this is cute 😀. Reminds me of the corn husk dolls the early Hoosiers of Indiana used to make after the corn harvest. I think a there are a few of the remaining farming communities that still hold festivals still make them. We're not as much of an agricultural state as we used to be, but there's still some family farms.
Cornhusk dolls I still make and take to our local markets to sell. Of course I've adapted them to an herbal theme with bundles of lavender, sage, & mugwort.
Your videos are so fun. Like visiting you at your place. Add in the traditions and celebrations you share, makes it feels more like a vacation to another country in a different time. I will be making my own Brigid cross to watch over our home here in north america. Thanks for this one and all you do.
Hi Terri - It looks like a beautiful day there! It’s still very cold here. I just love the shed you are sitting in front of. How old is it? I learn so many things from your videos. Take care and I’ll see you next time. Hugs! 💕
Hello beautiful ❤️ I love the shawl you are wearing .. it’s so pretty & looks warm . We are still in the middle of winter here , we got 10 inches this past week & it’s still hanging on the ground with ice too . So cold .. I have been doing cleaning out & decluttering my home for the past 2 weeks .. I know the garbage men don’t like me very well right now .. 😂😂 But , that’s one thing I wanted to do in the new year , was to clear my home of extra clutter that I don’t want or need . It’s so refreshing!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful day, some folklore, and your skills in making the guardians. I'm glad you are teaching these ways, the young really need them too.
I totally agree. I find it incredibly sad how little the young people know, but it is not their fault. History has gone from the curriculum here and they are not encouraged to look back to the old ways.
Hola! I was so inspired by this teaching that I have decided to make crafting a Brideog part of my Group's Imboloc ritual this year. I made one up ahead of time using plants from my land here in southwest Texas. We have totally different climate and terrain here from Ireland. So, I used Texas purple sage for her head(very protective) native red yucca for her arms(good for time travel) and cedar greens for her skirt(super protective and healing) I have plenty of oak leaves for her volumptuous girdle! She came out so gorgeous. I can't wait for all my friends to make their own. Thanks for such inspiration! Namaste
Thank you for sharing these customs. As I am just learning about these holidays, I especially love hearing the Irish traditions. I saw you making Brigid's Cross in another video and hope I can track down a tutorial on that.
Yours is one of my absolute favourite channels on UA-cam. I always get a rush of excitement when I see you have posted. The calming music and down to earth presentation of culture and knowledge in the lovely setting of your home and garden is magical. I'm sorry to hear you were ill in December but glad it gave you a chance to dream about the garden and rest. I never answered your question on your visiting the graves episode when you asked whether there are traditions here in Wales that are similar. Not that I am aware of, sadly. Pembrokeshire was very much taken over by Methodism a long time ago and I assume many traditions were lost.
What lovely light you are enjoying today! We have 4” of snow in Ohio, but it is lovely as well. Thank you for your videos, they are pleasant and informative. Blessed Imbolc🔥💦🌟🌱
What a fun video! I am going to make one of these dolls for my kitchen I will have to go out to my herb garden to see what I might be able to gather to use for the base :) It is very cold here in Maine today. It will be 9 degrees F when I leave for work tomorrow morning!
Dear Terri! I am blessfull to hear You! We making a feast for Tűzszentelő Boldogasszony (Fire Sanctifier Blissful Mother) in Hungary. We are making a doll too. And a big sacral fire and we throw our last year doll in it. We are hoping and wish for new year blessing to us. Thank You for your wisdom! 🙏🏻🤍🌀
How amazing Gabriella! Tuzszentelo sounds like Brigid who is also known as Bright One, Bright Firey Arrow, and more. Is your feast on 1st February too? Blessings for you and your family and community xx

Work is so time consuming right now Oh how I wish I had time in my days to indulge myself in your course …I hope it will be offered in the future. I haven’t even had time to watch your UA-cam videos lately. I hope your course is a success.
Watching your videos is such a lovely way to start my day! Calming music, lovely photography of your home and the dogs (especially the dogs!) It sets a mood that carries me through my days. I have been in love with herbal medicine since I was a young woman, I'm almost 70 now. And I do believe herbs have carried me when I was sick or in mourning, after childbirth and loss of friends and family members. But herbal knowledge is something I have found to be the one steady true route to take during deeply trying times. (Such as now)! I want to thank you for taking the time to educate those of us who are searching for answers and your calm, steady approach to herbal medicine.
I LOVE your videos & your channel is one of my absolute favorites. My granny use to make Brigid dolls. I am planning to make a few of my own - perhaps 3 to represent Brigid in her 3 incarnations as the Goddess Brigid, Saint Brigid & the voodoo loa, Maman Brigette (New Orleans is my other home). A very blessed Imbolc to you!
Hello Terri, what a lovely video and the sunshine was wonderful to see . It’s a cold , snowy day here in Ontario and that has a special beauty as well. I’m very interested in the course you will be offering and hope to join . Thank you for sharing your interesting world with us all. Take care and bless you🙏

Your video called me while looking for something else. So I just made my first ever, absolutely beautiful Brideog from the leftover rushes that I used for making Brigid's crosses. It literally fills my heart with joy & some other frequency that I would identify as hope... I'm just after a deep Brigid's day's deep healing last night. Your contribution is what's topping it up. Amazing. Sending you love & bright blessings 🌟
I'm so thankful to have found your UA-cam though this video. You have lovely calm way sharing your wisdom. I throughly enjoyed the lore you shared Have a blessed imbolc 🌾🔥
Thank you Terri. 🙂 Your traditions are beautiful and I enjoy understanding more! I know some from my son, Sean Patrick but you are a treasure trove! Love and blessings! 💜
This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing, will definitely make this a new tradition. I recently did the short winter herb course on Udemy and would definitely recommend it to everyone, very accessible-everything was explained clearly and everything included was easy to get hold of. Thank you Terri x
I'm almost 34 and unlike many women, I look forward to ageing. You are such a pleasure to watch and if I'm half the woman you are then I'll be satisfied Blessed be.
Your camera person is a keeper!!! Love all of the beautiful shots he provides. Love this simple tradition. I will find some rushes on my hike this weekend! Thank you once again for a wonderful video!
I found these in the hedge of my home in France many years ago. I bought the home from a french woman that said she was a white witch. Great to know how to make them. Ty
Now i know why called my husband me sometimes Simmi Doll ..laugh ...Hello dear sister glad to visit you again ..was so peaceful to see how you working a Brigid doll for my Goddess Aspect in your beautiful area . Love the cozy looking Hobbit home too ..thank you for share and wish you and every listener a wonderful Imbolc
Thank you, Miss Terri, for your little video. I had to share it with my daughter, Brigid. When I chose her name, I knew nothing of Brigid, either goddess or saint. I just liked the sound of it, and had some vague thought of honoring her Irish/Scottish ancestry. Had she not come 4 weeks early, she would have been born at Imbolc. We quite enjoyed the video, and my Brigid is honored to have this connection with the ancient Brigid. Thank you for your wisdom and information! ❤
Another lovely video, thank you so much! I am in Canada but have ancestors from your area and I just love to see the countryside of a home I've never seen! Best to you.
Your videos are so incredible… I watch them peacefully as i knit and prepare my planting plans for next yr. I was born in Imbolc. My name would’ve been Candelaria or Candela did my parents follow the Saints calendar. I’m of course an aquarius (sun and moon!), but, besides the fire of Imbolc, I also have my ascendant in Leo 😊 Besos, Terri THANK YOU
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I have to say fire has always “ruled” my life! But now in my late 30s I’m so happy to be discovering my aquarius and moon side. Much more yin and waaaay more calmer and introspective 🥰💛💛💛
Wonderful! Glad to hear you are interested - here is a link if you would like to know more danusirishherbgarden.com/product/an-introduction-to-herbal-medicine/
Well that was fun and interesting to watch! I'm not familiar with Bride'ogs (my keyboard doesn't do the proper letter o with the accent, please pardon me) but I have heard about Imbolc. I like the idea of making the reed doll to bless your hearth and home. Danu, the goddess, would surely approve! Here I have homemade dream catchers hanging around my place, bunches of feathers which were shed and I've gathered from various local wild birds, with horse hair added to those creations as well as prayer flags strung along the south inside wall of my cabin. Good luck with your herbal medicine course. My interest and study of herbal medicine is never ending. For the past month or so I've been drinking a decoction brewed from a birch polypore (that I found in November growing on a birch tree near my cabin) along with dandelion and burdock root, which seems to be doing me good. I've also started drinking again, first thing in the morning, a cider vinegar/cayenne concoction mixed with water and that too is doing me well. Here, in this part of Canada, we still have weeks of hard winter to get through before anything green will start growing up out of the earth. Right now there are some shrubs, such as various willow species and red osier, getting their bright bark again which is really nice to see. Best wishes and take care. Cheers!
Thank you Kestrel - I do enjoy our "chats". Learning so much from you too, about herbs and other natural healers. Just about to make a chaga decoction and then tincture it. Your cabin sounds so cosy and eclectic. We have the dogwoods for red colour here. Lots of willow growth here too - lime green and orange really standing out. Keep taking your medicine!!😊🌿🌻😇🙏
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thanks for your very kind reply. I am glad to have 'connected' with you here on You Tube. My life revolves around herbal medicine and I'm always thrilled to learn more from other herbal masters and natural healers, such as yourself, from around this magnificent globe. I'm waiting for a few more weeks before I once again go a short ways up the mountain to collect poplar and cottonwood buds (Balm of Gilead) to prepare more medicine. Cheers and best wishes!

This is wonderful! Thank you for sharing, will definitely make this a new tradition. I recently did the short winter herb course on Udemy and would definitely recommend it to everyone, very accessible-everything was explained clearly and everything included was easy to get hold of. Thank you Terri x
Thank you so much Laura, you are very kind. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed the course. xx

Thank you for your kind good wishes for me and the viewers. Many Happy Returns x
Very welcome wonderful sister and thank you too xoxo
Thank you, Miss Terri, for your little video. I had to share it with my daughter, Brigid. When I chose her name, I knew nothing of Brigid, either goddess or saint. I just liked the sound of it, and had some vague thought of honoring her Irish/Scottish ancestry. Had she not come 4 weeks early, she would have been born at Imbolc. We quite enjoyed the video, and my Brigid is honored to have this connection with the ancient Brigid. Thank you for your wisdom and information! ❤
Glad to hear your daughter is happy to know about Brigid, x
Very informative 🌹 I’m watching for your new videos 🌺 Good Luck❤️

Thanks you so much! I remember making the dolls with me gram.
Another lovely video, thank you so much! I am in Canada but have ancestors from your area and I just love to see the countryside of a home I've never seen! Best to you.
And the best to you too Laura. So glad you are enjoying the films xx
Your videos are so incredible… I watch them peacefully as i knit and prepare my planting plans for next yr. I was born in Imbolc. My name would’ve been Candelaria or Candela did my parents follow the Saints calendar. I’m of course an aquarius (sun and moon!), but, besides the fire of Imbolc, I also have my ascendant in Leo 😊 Besos, Terri THANK YOU
You must be burning up, on fire!!😃 Glad you like the videos and Happy New Year to you. Looking forward to Imbolc xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden I have to say fire has always “ruled” my life! But now in my late 30s I’m so happy to be discovering my aquarius and moon side. Much more yin and waaaay more calmer and introspective 🥰💛💛💛
….💚This Was My First Visit And It Was Quite Lovely ~ ThankYou💚….
Hello Katherine. You are very welcome - glad you enjoyed it. xx
I’m looking forward to the herb course!
Thank you for teaching me how to make this. Blessed be from Texas.
You are so welcome xx
Lovely. Thank you. Have a blessed week!
Blessings to you too Natália. xx
As ways a wonderful video telling us of the Irish folk law and traditions. Oh to be sat with you on the step in the sunshine in beautiful Connemara.
I would love to do your herb course but am in the middle of two other courses at the moment and I wouldn't have the time. Will you be repeating the foundation course in the future? I do hope so x x
Hi Lesley, lovely sunshine like that gets me all full of hope and anticipation! As for the herb course, I will of course be repeating it. It is a six month long course so you can start at any time. Here is a link to have a look at danusirishherbgarden.com/product/an-introduction-to-herbal-medicine/ Thanks for asking xx
Lovely video with gorgeous weather...🌞🌱
. The house in the background is so beautiful, what do you use it for?
Here we have to wait a couple of months before we can do anything in the garden. Full of snow and -10 C. Blessings from Sweden🇸🇪💝
