I'll always remember doing my first ever ritual and it had about 30 items, a paragraph to read (didn't understand half of what was written) and I remember thinking to myself, how will this ever work if I am not truly invested in it with what I love, understand and can relate to!! Happy Imbolc! I'm just learning about the symbolism of the pagan festivals as they occur throughout last and the current year. I thought I would share some of my recent discoveries:
I celebrate the lunar New Year with the Vietnamese community at the Buddhist temple I attend. I was delighted to discover that lunar New Year's day is February 1st, the same as Imbolc! Viet new year is the celebration of the return of spring, the temple is always full of spring flowering cut tree branches that have been coaxed into bloom by the monks. We also have a special service set aside to feed the hungry Ghost and remember the ancestors, those who have passed on, very much like Samhain. I'm excited to see the convergence of western and eastern traditions.

I just started my Spring Cleaning, in honor of Brigid, who also happens to be my patron goddess! I decided to listen to some witchy talk, and Poof! There you were! I think I'm going to make my dolly with hemp twine, and a little acorn cap.

Out of nowhere, without planning I found myself doing similar things. It began with a solo trip to a nature rich area, just to sit by the river and tall trees, I found myself breathing in deep and exhaling. Then a week later I got a urge to start to a garden, sow seeds & composting 😳. My creativity is soaring, without self sabatoge insight. The need to Spring Clean is outweighing my interest in work, making it hard to focus on my work duties. And I burned Bay Leaves in my Room

So I was born in spring and I always had a strong connection with it. I just love it (and autumn). So months before spring starts I can already feel it come and I keep telling people it is here soon.
I am generally happier and more energized.
I see all those flowers growing, freshly grown grass, few more birds, few more leaves.
But I will be missing the fact it is dark in the afternoon or that it is the perfect temperature. No sweating.
A Glimmer of Hope is stunning and wonderfully fitting for Imbolc. Thanks for giving us a moment of magic.

I had so so so much fun doing the doll,and while doing it i realised that i have forgotten what witchcraft is really about,i focused on the big spells and rituals side of witchcraft but i never truly enjoyed the simple part of witchcraft,like making a doll.Thank you for the wonderfull idea,Blessed Imbolc!

I always mark the wheel of the year with a walk outside, noticing the nature around me, paying particular attention to the plants and animals I see and what stage of development they're in. oh my god, i resonate with this so much... like gah ;-;... your song sent a picture to my mind that was like the wee hours of like 3am-4am where like the day is just upon us... you know it's there, you can't see, its still dark, and the sun is just about to turn the corner and you're focusing your eyes upon the horizon in anticipation... knowing that so many new little things will be born and yet another chapter, another cycle of life in the grand wheel of things gets their turn :3
This was lovely. I especially liked the bit about honouring our bodies if we're still feeling too tired to do much despite the pressure from society to be productive from the 1st January onwards. I've been ill for the past few weeks and although I'm improving I still feel quite tired and under the weather so I'm building back up slowly. I've been doing some planning, journaling, painting and a few brief stints outside to get fresh air which all helps.

Your videos are like therapy to my soul.
I wish I can breathe through the freezing air. Almost 2 weeks ago, the city had a snow blizzard with 20cm of snow. Unlike 30 years ago when our mayor called the military to clear out the snow, the city's plowers tried to clear the snow as much as they could. The area I live had partial plowing so walking is extremely challenging. Right now, there's a windchill factor warning of -30°C. So now I'm just catching up the videos. So I can't wait for Spring comes to life from Winter's slumber. Thanks for sharing your experiences on video as well as the doll. I love making dolls. I made something similar to this one except that it's completely made out of one long singular strand of yarn & divided into 5 parts.

Imbolc always been the ugly duckling of Sabbats for me. While Yule also takes place in winter, the snow just arrived, everyone is getting ready for the celebrations surrounding Christmas and New Year, but here in Canada Imbolc really is the dead of winter. It's freezing cold (-25°C to -35°C this past 2 weeks), there is 2-3 meters of snow on the ground, the birds are nowhere to be found... Every year I really have to make a conscious effort to even acknowledge this Sabbat. But thank you for this video Alwyn! Your lovely music is motivating me to do a little something to celebrate it this year. 🥰

I had to pause your video before finishing it to let you know something I do that you might enjoy as much as me.
I consider myself an “Alchemist/Elemental Practitioner”. I have a basket in my car where I keep pinecones, acorns, dried flowers and herbs, basil leaves & a fine point sharpie marker, seashells, wildflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, dried fruit, dried firethorn berries, feathers and other things from nature. When the seasons change (or anytime really) I like to lay a sacred geometry design down on the forest floor using items from my nature basket as well as items I’ve collected from around the area where I do it. (rocks, twigs, leaves etc.)
I light incense and say a prayer to bless the area and items then draw a circle in the earth with my wand or a stick and assemble this nature grid/design as an offering to Mother Earth, all the forest creatures, deities, ancestors, the sun or moon or whoever I am called to do the offering for at the time.
I include bay leaves that I write messages on in the deign.
It is a solo, sacred time for me where I can meditate, create and connect with spirit, nature and my higher self.
I leave the design on the forest floor to disassembled and disappear in the winds and the elements and the forest creatures will enjoy the nuts, seeds, berries and dried fruit.
I also like to think if anyone comes across it while it is still intact it will make them smile and raise the vibration of the planet.
This is a spiritual ritual & practice of mine that brings me much peace, joy & calm and so I thought I would share it with you and your followers.💫

@@AlwynOak It was absolutely lovely. ☺️ I do it just before bed after clearing my chakras. It helps circulation, centering ones self, breathing deeply and mindfulness. Everything you need for a peaceful nights rest. I'm super excited for the snow we are about to get in MI, with in the next few days! I'm hoping it's to my knees at least! It will be more like snow trudging instead of walking, but it'll be barefoot and beautiful nonetheless. Thank you again. It will always be my "go to tune" for my snowy adventures. 💖

I am laughing at myself, we are having a major snow storm out here in eastern U.S., so I decided to clean my art studio. When I clean, I seem to decorate (can't help myself). Well, I must be in-tuned with Imbolc because I found silk ivy and decorated my window with it and different decorative woodland items. After I was done, I made a cup of hot chocolate, started my candle burning and put on your vlog. Looks like I am on the right wave lenght. Maybe Mother Nature is not ready to "turn" in my neck of the woods but I feel that I'm ready for it. 🌱☀
Thanks for this wonderful video 💐💐💐 Your beautiful piece made me think of people who are gone now, in particular my granny and how she made wonderful jam every year without fail .. also the Brigid dolls made my crown tingle because my sister and I used to make them as children and I’d long forgotten about them... and curiously a couple of weeks ago I kept dreaming of silver birch trees and seeing them as flashes and so I looked them up and they are symbolic of Brigid 💝💝💝
