In Katherine Marshall’s book Christy there was a story about someone with pneumonia real bad. This was long ago in the Appalachian mountains. They banded together and sliced tons of onions and cooked them and wrapped them in a cloth and laid this on the girl’s chest. After many hours she suddenly started coughing up awful phlegm and it cured her. I have never forgotten that!
This video made me smile..My daughter-in-law is a pediatrician. While visiting my grandson a few years ago, he was sick and not getting better. I sliced up an onion and put it in his socks and didn’t tell a soul…. Honestly , it was like a miracle… Later on I received a text from my daughter-in-law, wanting to know exactly how I did it. She recognized the healing properties and every now and then will mention that she put onions in his socks when he gets the sniffles. ❄️❄️☃️☃️
Such a smart grandma! You daughter-in-law needs to tell her patients! Only then will this old world wisdom & COMMON SENSE healing move forward & expand. It's being silenced at every turn. It starts with the doctors.
Back in the 70s, my son's great-grandmother recommended putting a half an onion in a handkerchief on our chests when lying in bed sick. At the time, I thought it was silly and didn't realize how knowledgeable she was in old ways that truly work. Wish now that I'd picked her brains for more home remedies before she passed.
Thank you for this onion lesson. My mom said my grandmother would keep a pot of honey and sliced onions on the radiator in winter and they never got sick. Nature is amazing ❤
My grandmother (a while ago as I am over 50) used to put onion slices in our socks when we were kids and sick (at night). I remember the feeling and didn’t like it at all. Too sick and shy to complain though 😂 plus I trusted her. It worked wonders. Like many of the “old” methods she used. Thanks for another lovely video. Hope your electricity is back by now.
I was just talking to a friend and she said her husband poo pooed her doing this. She said her grandmother used to do it and sometimes added garlic. We had a good talk about herbals! I'm currently waiting for some raw honey to be delivered. Hope your power and water is back on soon. Yes, a little snow on Thursday - only 3 inches, but nothing left. We've had horrendous winds and torrential rain - blew our solar panels over, so charging batteries with the mains. Luckily still got that!
Everyone needs to follow people in the US who “prep” for emergencies. A small gas stove, candles, torches, extra batteries, warm blankets, hot water bottles, thermos flask, extra foods such as soups, beans, pasta, tomatoes, porridge, bottled water etc. it all helps if you get a power cut or mains water burst.
Exactly. I have been prepping for years and I would not be bothered if I lost power and water supply. I have a rainwater harvesting set up, a filter to make the water drinkable, food and ways to cook it, heat, medicines, oil lamps, candles and battery operated lights, plus books and puzzles to keep me entertained. I would miss my washing machine in a prolonged blackout, but that's about it.
My wife and I were just talking about how ridiculous it is to depend on electricity ... that's the government agenda, make everyone utterly at the power companies mercy. A desiel 7kva generator comes into its own during power cuts but remember to have a cut-off switch installed in the meter box! People must make provision, be it a 50kg bag of rice or the whole gridless prepper shebang. We find onions are good for the prostate and general good health. Many thanks. Tipperary blessings 💖🙏💫
I'm doing the whole gridless preper shebang in county Clare 😁. I grew up without electricity and running water so for me it's not a bother if I was to lose power.
I wanted to share this with you. Here in NY state, electric is so expensive that I heat one room in my apartment where my birds are. I use an empty bedroom as a root cellar. I can keep veg fresh in there till spring. I've made this syrup with garlic. I have a 3yro jar in my cupboard. I continue to add garlic and honey to it. God bless you all!❤
Mother nature provides everything we need for healing ourselves if we just let it. I love your channel and how you teach us back to basics remedies. Onions are definitely a powerhouse healer. I'm grateful that you are sharing these remedies with us!Thank you and God bless you and your family. Lots of love from Michigan.🙏💚🍀
When my daughter was a baby and got sick, my mother would hang an onion on her crib. Out of curiosity, I asked the Dr. If it actually helped and he was quite amused . My mother was embarrassed that I asked the doctor about it, but she was simply practicing what she had probably learned from her mother. I wish she were here now, so I could let her know that these folk cures can be effective and that the doctor was the ignorant one and not her. There are a couple of her remedies I still use at times.
It's a shame that we don't think about picking our elders' brains when they are here. When my dad and uncles died I suddenly had hundreds of questions. Hopefully we will find old teachers for that knowledge xx
In southeast GA here in the US, there's a joke that if someone spills a cup of iced tea on the road, all the schools get shut down. 😂 Another beautiful and helpful video, ty! ❤
Thank you Terri ❤ I’m always so grateful for what you share. I recently had an unpleasant experience with a “smart” appliance that convinced me that they may be smart, but they are NOT wise. My partner and I have decided we will not buy smart appliances or make any other part of our lives “smart”. We prefer wisdom.
I don't trust "smart" devices. I have an old Android phone that was given to me, but that's about it. I opted out of the smart meter when the electricity company was changing them in my area; had to do it three times before they got the message.
So beautiful is your countryside in snow! I was fortunate to take a six week herbal class at Rosemary Gladstar’s Sage Mountain in Central Vermont many years ago. Taught by Rosemary’s apprentices and Rosemary herself. It was in a yurt. I’ll never forget all the lovely things we learned about wild herbs and plants. Love your videos. They bring comfort and happiness. Thank you!
Terri your videos are always SO helpful, I love them! I eat onions everday. Everyday. Explains why I hardly ever get sick. Learned so much from this video, I can help family members who's immune systems have been destroyed from big pharma. And Let this be a lesson to us that smart homes aren't so smart after all. The cloud seeding in the U.S. is just disgusting, seen it with my own eyes, and then the bizzare weather changes. hmm. Blessings to you Terri & your family.
It's the same in Ireland Brenda. The sky above my home is crisscrossed every single day; it's been like that for the last two years or so. The weather is all messed up and getting worse.
@@celesteburley4035Well, for starters, I am between Syracuse & Rochester, along Lake Ontario and I have seen the criss cross clouds more than once. We have a large agriculture farmers in this area. Poison floating down. Control the food and you control the people.
Wonderful way to start my Sunday morning. Great video as always. Lol’s landscape part of the video’s are always so enjoyable. I loved when the cow’s head peeked over the stone wall😄❤️.
My grandmother would make hot onion poultice for ear ache when I was a child, many years later and after she had died and I was living in Munich the children’s doctor did the same .
Thank you for showing us remedies my grandmother used to use. Having warm onion on your ear or feet sounds far preferable to chemical medicine from the drug store! By the way, the scenery in your films is beautifully done!
Thank you, Terri, for these interesting onion therpaies. Can't wait to try them on my husband or other family members! x. P.S. The scenery shots were stunning.
Love what you put out into this world! I cut up onions and place them under the bed of my daughter when she has an ear infections. When we where little my dad used to tape a quarter of an onion behind the ear when we had ear pains. Hope the power comes back soon! :) Have a lovely day!
I loved this video. I remember my grandfather giving me onion sandwiches when I was young and had a cold. I guess that is where I got my love for that stinky root veggie. I hope everyone gets their power back soon. We here in Kentucky, USA lost power about 2 maybe 3 years ago d/t a huge windstorm. We had 12 trees uprooted and went without power for 76 hours. We have a well that is electric ran because it is too deep to set it up any other way. However, we had a generator to keep food and water from a creek near us. We cooked on a grill and over an open fire. To be honest, it was the most relaxing thing ever.
I've also heard that if you put garlic in your sock, you can taste it before very long. The scenes of your snow are lovely. Lol does excellent filming and his music is very soothing. I really feel for those who don't have any heat etc now, especially the pensioners in GB. Glad you're warm and fine.
Yes, that is true. Very disgraceful what that government has done to the pensioners and a Labour government too. Just shows that you can't trust any of them xx
Good Sunday Morn, Terri, Lol & the fur babies! So thankful that you were able to have water stored up & are keeping warm! "Smart Homes" = negative govt control in many ways. Enjoyed seeing the beautiful scenery & those precious cows enjoying a walk with your pups! Thank you for the sharing the wonderful healing properties of the humble onion & how to prepare. My day can now begin! Until next Sunday, much Love!❤❤❤
💙I like snow . . . when I can come into a cozy warm home. 😢 for your new weather. We here do not know how to live without electricity. Water? I do not know WHAT we'd do. Sending love & warmth your way. 💗
As a child, I had lots of ear problems. My dad was my "Medicine man." He blew cigarette smoke in my ear or warm sweet oil drops, then heated a brick in the oven, wrapped it up in a towel and put it up to my ear. It helped!
Today's video was very interesting. Hope Lol feels better soon. ... The Western provinces of Canada have snow. We in Eastern Ontario do not (yet). It's always good to be prepared for power outages, water shortages, and to have a well stocked pantry. Onions are a staple in our household. So simple yet so effective. Blessings to you and yours.
Lovely stuff. What would we do without our allium family. Loved the video work, as usual. I hope you don't have too many power outages this winter. Here we endure lengthy power outages, one after another. Longest one I recall was five days long, in winter. Fortunately I heat my cabin with wood and I have a propane stove to cook on. No power, I get out my candles and old transistor radio (radio reception is seldom good here though with these tall remote mountains. My water, right from the creek, is fed from a snowfield on the northface basin of the mountain, gravity feed. Have a safe winter. Cheers!
We won't be affected as we have solar and we can cook on our range and we have a small gas hob too. It is lovely to have evenings with candle-light, very relaxing. Hope all stays well with you over winter. xx
I live off grid, it can be tough but when I hear of power cuts and disruption to the water supply , it's worth it 💚 I fear for the pensioners in this awful weather 😢 My Grandmother used to boil an onion and put the 'core' in my ear if I had earache 💚
Better to be able to generate our own heat , a wood burner or gas heater , I always prepare for power failure also water always have bottles of water. The kittens looking great ! ❤ loved the film , have a great week ❤🙏🏻❤️
I used a heated onion for my earache years ago. Wow, did it ever help! I didn't boil it. I heated it in our microwave oven. Something you didn't mention, but I'll throw it out for newborn baby mama's- give your colicky (sp?) baby some onion water, just as prepared here in the video. It's supposed to help. Please look it up though - it's been about 37 years since I learned this, so I might have some missing details. My colicky baby, I'm convinced, had the need of a chiropractor, but I didn't know about that until my second baby, about four years too late. I'm not sure the onion water would have helped her in that case. Wonderful video. I had to subscribe!!
Hope you are all back to normal by now.🙏 even the chicken’s were shocked with the snow 😅. We didn’t get any snow in Offaly. Very informative video Terri . Once again thank you 🙏 🍀🤍
We got around two inches in west Clare and the schools have been closed for three days. My friend in Kerry said her area was snowed under too. They couldn't get to work.
Somehow, my "granny" knew how to do this. (She was of Scottish descent.) Onion syrup is a standby remedy in our family. Thank you for your beautiful video.
I'm glad you addressed not eating onions that have been out a while. When you mentioned that they draw in bacteria, I immediately got to wondering what about places like cafeterias or "food fairs" where they have the onions pre-chopped and sitting out. Ugh. I love onions, and I love their healing capacities, but I'm super sensitive to cut onions. I can eat them fine, but if I'm around them being chopped my eyes water so bad I can't even open them. Likewise, if they are being cooked, especially sauteed, they give me a headache that will last for the day 😭 As such, I rarely cook them myself or if I do I have to take a camp stove outside and cook it out there. The only work around I can do is to buy pre-chopped from the grocery store, but it's packaged in a plastic box. I'm hoping that will be safer than open to the air, but even that now kind of gives me pause.
I absolutely look forward to new videos from you! I have been a follower for 4 years now. The amount of information I have learned here is quite astounding! Thank you for all the hard work in these beautiful videos. Your garden and the land around it are gorgeous.
I loved the tribute to the onion! I was a little girl myself with an ear ache when my grandmother placed a warm onion on my ear. Thanks for the syrup tip and onions on the feet. I did garlic on the feet to draw out the fever of my young son, learned after not to leave to poultice on longer than 10 minutes because it can end up burning. I rubbed olive oil on after to dilute the intensity. My Grandfather if he was sick would make an onion garlic sandwich to eat and he always ended up feeling better. Enjoyed the chat.
We just had a horrible winter storm in Finland: lots and lots of serious traffic accidents and due to almost hurricane level winds also thousands of households without electricity. But this is due to the strong winds, mostly, and heavy wet snow. During a usual snow fall no-one loses electricity as it is a common event - although it has to be said the weather phenomena have changed for the more extreme: nowadays, we tend to almost always get the most of summer (endless heatwaves) and the most of winters (soooo much snow and snowstorms). Mother Nature is not very amused, it seems. The whole family has been suffering a bad cold (Corona) and we had to take mum to hospital for a week as it got really bad. Ah well, let it snow. Except, tomorrow I think it's going to rain again. I miss old times with less of everything. All things in moderation would be the order of the day.
Prayers to those who don’t have heat from some one who knows we have all electric here gas is the heater but the button to turn it on is electric so that sucks Thanks for sharing about the onion❤❤😊😊😊❤❤ Have a great week
Weer genoten. Een fijne zondag toegewenst.
Onions takes out heavy metals from our bodies. Not if they have come into our cells, which needs other treatments, but otherwise. Food with onions is good: French onion soup, onion pie with graham flour and onions first stirred in curry, or baked or fried onions with autumn apples, for instance. I can recommend the book of Githa Ben David called: Help. For those who are ill with heavy metals. She too writes about onions. Thank you, Danu. I love your videos❤
Terri, thank you for this video! I've got a tip. It is better to steam up the union instead of boiling it. This way the healing properties will remain in the union. I hope electricity will return soon! Love from the Netherlands
Thank you for the information on onions and confirming that it works. I'm glad you're partially off-grid enough to have heat and some lights and water that can be boiled / filtered from your water barrel (and aren't being over exposed to the negative vibrational frequencies people in the "smart houses" are surrounding themselves with 24/7).
Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear about your electricity cuts and water shortages. Yes not myself but one of my daughters experienced electrical issues last week on the day it snowed, schools have been closed in the local area due to this too, it does seem a shame, but the bad weather has this effect. All the best for you both.
I LOVE onions!! When I was a young child there was a bite taken out of every onion in my Mom's pantry!😊 I was a sickly child but I can now only imagine how much worse it would have been! Never thought about the onions at a salad bar. 😮 thank you. Blessings sent.
Thank you for some very efficacious uses for healing onions! Your videographer/editor is brilliant! A truly joyful and glorious way to start my morning! Many thanks. 🧅🙏🦋
Glad you like the visuals. Thank you! It's just me (Terri's husband) and Terri. No fancy videographers or expensive editing suites. With a simple laptop and a phone we can all make movies 💚
I don't think I've ever seen Jazz that happy (Except maybe at the beach)! Dogs love the snow, don't they? The hills there look so much like our valley here in Idaho. Just beautiful. ❤ ~Jen
I like to use onions in a lot of my cooking. Even eat a piece raw. Will have to remember you're home made remedy. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day 🙏.
The miracle onion ! My mother used your onion remedy for sore ears, as have I for our daughter when she was little and had ongoing ear infections which didn’t clear up with antibiotics. We used garlic drops as well which we inserted in her ears. The doctor wanted to insert tubes in her ears luckily we never had to go this route. Hopefully the power and water comes on soon for everyone. Living in the north of Canada I can’t imagine the whole country is down and out after a snow fall 😂
Weekly Devotional...that's what I call your Video...I got Solar I have a demonstrator Panel that I use to power an Indoor Fountain, and I had to wash off the Panel yesterday. We lost power, for nine days, a few years back, but we're a hardy bunch of Irish Exiles. It was very cold, at -6 C, and Ice Storms are becoming common, which is how the City lost Power. We have down comforters, a propane tank for cooking, and a Solar Panel to charge batteries. There is a moment, or two, but we manage.
Even then hens were reluctant to leave the coop…….chomh greannhar!!!! You must be so grateful Terri, on days like you’ve experienced, to live off grid. Go raibh míle math agat mo chara ❤ Anita xx
Thank you! I have used cooked onions as a poultice on the chest. When my daughter was pregnant and unable to take medication to early I her pregnancy. To quote you “it worked a treat”! I hope your power is restored soon.
As a child my grandmother sneaked into my room and put an onion mustard packet on my chest when I had a very bad flu. The next day I woke up stinky but no fever. That was years ago but I remember it as it was yesterday Oh my gosh about the water problem. I’m glad I keep about a drum of water at all times. Healthy advice
The snow looks beautiful and chilly at the same time. Was this just yesterday? I love how you show us the surroundings and the animals. The cows are so adorable. Hopefully they have a barn to go inside and be fed. Hug a cow! I love the donkeys in Ireland too if you could show us some. I never knew this about onions! I don’t think I will eat a salad in a restaurant that has onion in it now! I will put one on my kitchen counter. They do smell strong tho. Thank you!
Another informative and beautiful film. Thank you to you both . Hope you soon have your mains electric supply and water back. All parents should use these onion remedies instead of the pharmaceuticals they give at schools.
Good morning from California 😊 Beautiful photography! I’m grateful for the onion reminder and the easy healthy and helpful uses for it during early management is the icky sickies 🤧 We too in our state have become highly unreasonably regulated (not as dire, though) and being prepared with simple “preps” is so very important. I always make sure my very elderly dad has large containers filled with water frozen and that’s been essential during very hot weather as well as cold for different reasons when they cycle power off in his regional foothills area. The older ways should not be lost or regulated away. I’m happy to see your resourcefulness and easy resilience. Blessings to you ❤
My jaw dropped in the best way- I never thought I'd run into anyone else who would share these tips!!!-- Years ago I had gone snorkeling and came back home with a horribly painful earache, I felt certain it was infected from the dirty water getting into my ear... My landlady told me to microwave half an onion and wrap it in a damp cloth against my ear and hold it there for 20 minutes or so-- I thought what do I have to lose, and did it. No exaggeration the pain was immediately gone. I could hardly believe it- and no one else believed me either! 😂 But now I can show them this video and tell them it was NOT placebo ❤ 🤣 Thank you so much for sharing this onion wisdom!! Winter blessings to you and your family❤✨️
Oh my house stinks of onions in winter,if anyone stays/visits with the slightest sniffle then every room gets half an onion!😅 While I was having treatment at a hospital,we got chatting about the magick of onions, the nurse treating me said he always puts onions in his sons socks at night to stop coughing & can vouch that it works!....also any sign of a cold coming then I'll eat a sandwich with lots of raw onions for a quick fix(at home)...a definite no no out and about though like you said Terri..! I'll be making some onion syrup thank you....Stay Safe & Cosy 🙏🧡
I’m surprised Terri that you don’t have your own water tanks. You get so much rain there why would you want to drink the town water full of chlorine and fluoride? I loved the snow in your garden and those beautiful Skyview clouds with snow below such a beautiful place. I’m going down to Mullumbimby in a fortnight to do some circle dancing and every time I think of Mullumbimby now I think of you having a friend there. I love that.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden yes. Of course you do. Glad to hear it. And as i continued to watch i saw that your down pipes where going into big barrels. When we get blackouts here which we get regularly because of the huge trees and the big winds knocking down the powers lines, the pump from my main tank is of course disabled but I have another big tank that I use with just gravity Feed. And every time I forget to turn the timer on my phone on , I forget that I’ve left it running. It’s a worry as I get older ha ha. But we are getting plenty of rain so no lack of water. And I can always bucket water out of the top of my main tank and use it like a well it’s half buried in the ground 20,000 gallons. If you ever come to Australia, you would be both most welcome here for a visit.
I truly feel for everyone there without power. We live in the U.S. Southeast, where hurricanes and storms are common, and commonly knock out the power. I am thankful you are managing well. The snow is beautiful. A great film, and much needed as we enter cold and flu season. We are true believers in the medicinal propertiese of the allium family. Garlic has saved us many times. And as always, I am mesmerized by Lol's music, just brilliant. Peace be with you friends. 💖🙏🍀
Peace to you and yours John and to all. Thank you. We are all sorted and back to normal, snow has gone, rain washed it away. A cold spell is great though just to cleanse the air and the ground xx
I'm in a city, in an all electric little house...we had no power for 60 hours! all the bagged ice for miles around was sold out with in a couple hours. So I had to pitch everything single thing in my fridge and freezer. Sure miss the years I had a country home with a woodstove. Thanks for the vid, and I hope things are better by now for your area.
Great video with very useful information. Thank you for sharing, Terri. I hope your power and water come back on quickly. Stay warm and safe. Take care.
The Kelly Kettle was invented in Mayo and a great standby for boiling water outdoors in a powercut. It has a chimney effect and doesn’t take long to heat water. Other versions from middle eastern countries I believe too.
I have always made an onion/garlic/honey/lemon juice concoction for colds/flu, however, I never thought about how the onions in the honey makes a syrup. As an herbalist I learn something new all the time. I am going to try the onion fomentation for the ear and the onions in the socks this winter. Thank you oh great wise woman!
Thank you for reminding me of the onions in the socks, it was a favourite remedy of my granny’s. That memory lead me to brown paper and goose fat under my liberty bodice. Now there was a garment to behold in the 50s with its wee rubber buttons. Neither cure smelled particularly nice but I guess they worked . She was also a big fan of a poultice made from bread, sugar and household soap, the smell of that was marginally better than the other two. Hope your power and water are restored quickly.
We had a storm on Friday…left us with 10” of heavy wet snow and a 6 hour power outage …luckily we make being prepared for times like these a priority…..so we are self sufficient otherwise …we heat our house generally with wood so we were warm & snuggly…. And we have a solar generator for any other power source need … if my clock wasn’t blinking we wouldn’t have known the difference….we are already always power frugal… the Onion is amazing…when I was young I used to get migraines and my aunt would always put raw onions and potatoes on my feet and it always seemed to help 😊
Same here re weather. How interesting that the onions helped your head as other people are commenting onions GIVE them a bad head. Just shows that medicine is not a one size fits all, we are all different xx
I love this so much thank you Terri. I live in awe and gratitude of our Earth Mother. I always cut an onion in half and placed it beside the bed when the children were sick and it helped them breathe easier while they slept. Dad always cut onions and placed them around when he was renovating/painting and the onions took in the paint smell. I’ll try the onions in the socks-I’ve done this with garlic before. I appreciate your teachings. ❤Linda
I made the Rosemary Gladstar one for my mum when I got her book last year. It worked well. We got snow in Glasgow saturday but gone today. Well done for being off grid, just need your own water supply now!
Your beautiful daughter is blessed to have a Mum such as you so knowledgeable and equally beautiful. Learning from your kitchen is the coziest of things ever. Thank you! 🤗🧡PS. Still hoping you will share your Christmas cake one these days! 🌲
I LOVE onions!! In the southern US, we have sweet onions that are available a couple of months out of the year; they are totally delicious. They don´t give the same taste as a traditional onion, but the flavor is really unique, it is like nothing else. I love them raw with vegetables and cornbread. It is really a health powerhouse. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you dear Terri, I hope you are ok now , and again thanks for the simplicity , really we can do it ! Blessings , and see you next episode 😊🕯️🕯️🕯️, Irène
I love your wisdom and advice Terri. My son and I have got horrid colds at the moment. I am taking zinc, vitamin D and Vitamin C but I have to be careful with vitamin C because of the affects of it on my stomach. I have heard the onion is terrific all round but again only in small doses for me unfortunately. Thank you so much Terri for your amazing videos.
I always enjoy your videos. I live in New Mexico USA from Hispanic ancestry. I am amazed how your herbal remedies are so in tune with my ancestral herbal remedies.
I read about onions as well as myshrooms are a prebiotic to make tge probiotics work synergidtically. One needs those otherwise probiotics are a waste. My older sister made me use onion on my earache to this day she peaches this. I put that in a sock over my ear. Yes it a smells the allocin in onion is beneficial. Wonderful music and videography. We have blessings in nature. Thank you for a nice Sunday visit
My Grandma Wright used onions overtime. Poultice for throat and colds. While gardening we are fresh onion and tomatoes because they are healthy. Thanks! For the chat on onions.
In Katherine Marshall’s book Christy there was a story about someone with pneumonia real bad. This was long ago in the Appalachian mountains. They banded together and sliced tons of onions and cooked them and wrapped them in a cloth and laid this on the girl’s chest. An onion poultice, great for drawing. Xx
This video made me smile..My daughter-in-law is a pediatrician. While visiting my grandson a few years ago, he was sick and not getting better. Such a smart grandma! You daughter-in-law needs to tell her patients!
Only then will this old world wisdom & COMMON SENSE healing move forward & expand. It's being silenced at every turn.
It starts with the doctors.
Well done 😊.
That tells me that your dil is a humble soul, to take advice from her mil.
🥰 So beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
❤
Back in the 70s, my son's great-grandmother recommended putting a half an onion in a handkerchief on our chests when lying in bed sick. At the time, I thought it was silly and didn't realize how knowledgeable she was in old ways that truly work. Wish now that I'd picked her brains for more home remedies before she passed.
Thank you for this onion lesson.
My mom said my grandmother would keep a pot of honey and sliced onions on the radiator in winter and they never got sick. Nature is amazing ❤
She certainly is xx
My grandmother (a while ago as I am over 50) used to put onion slices in our socks when we were kids and sick (at night). I remember the feeling and didn’t like it at all. Too sick and shy to complain though 😂 plus I trusted her. It worked wonders. Like many of the “old” methods she used. Thanks for another lovely video. Hope your electricity is back by now.
Clever Grandmother. All back to normal now thanks xx
I hope your panels are ok. Ours are thank goodness. Just had to brush the snow off. xx
YES, most of us had grandparents who kept a pantry stocked and other supplies at hand, we are smart to do the same.
Makes total sense xx
I needed a new torch/flashlight but got a bit carried away and now I have about 50 of them so I'll be bartering torches for burgers or something.
Years ago my dad made me onion chest Poultice.. At night before I went to bed. It drew out my congestion.
I can believe it. Great tip, thanks for mentioning it xx

I'm doing the whole gridless preper shebang in county Clare 😁. I grew up without electricity and running water so for me it's not a bother if I was to lose power.
Connemara Blessings to you. I agree, even a little put by can save future problems. What kind of generator do you have?
I wanted to share this with you. Here in NY state, electric is so expensive that I heat one room in my apartment where my birds are. I use an empty bedroom as a root cellar. I can keep veg fresh in there till spring. I've made this syrup with garlic. I have a 3yro jar in my cupboard. I continue to add garlic and honey to it. God bless you all!❤
God Bless to you too and thanks for the tip xx
Mother nature provides everything we need for healing ourselves if we just let it. I love your channel and how you teach us back to basics remedies. Onions are definitely a powerhouse healer. I'm grateful that you are sharing these remedies with us!Thank you and God bless you and your family. Lots of love from Michigan.🙏💚🍀
Best wishes to all in Michigan xx
Another beautiful and helpful video, ty! ❤
😂 that is true here in Louisiana.
I agree and there are various suggestions as to what the acronym means!! I steer clear xx
Thank you!
Interesting! I'll have to look that up.
how fortunate you were to be in a class with RG!
Wish I could have been there - sounds amazing xx Thank you very much!
Where in the U.S. is cloud-seeding being done? Thanks much
Blessings to you too Brenda xx
It's the same in Ireland Brenda. The sky above my home is crisscrossed every single day; it's been like that for the last two years or so.
The weather is all messed up and getting worse.
@@celesteburley4035Well, for starters, I am between Syracuse & Rochester, along Lake Ontario and I have seen the criss cross clouds more than once.
We have a large agriculture farmers in this area.
Poison floating down.
Control the food and you control the people.
New Mexico and Texas are signed up for clouding. I think its like 13 states that participate in seeding.@celesteburley4035
Love your wisdom here in montana
We have always put onions in our socks at night when we're sick ❤
It really works
I'm originally from Montana but have never heard of this. Thanks!
It really does! xx
Thank you for sharing your brilliant snowy morning with us.
Glad you enjoyed it xx
I was not expecting to see snow! The puppers certainly seemed to enjoy it.
A very relaxing episode today. 😀❤
Glad you enjoyed it! xx you have to relax when there is snow xx
Wonderful way to start my Sunday morning. Great video as always. Lol’s landscape part of the video’s are always so enjoyable. I loved when the cow’s head peeked over the stone wall😄❤️.
Loved that cow too. A good laugh before bed.
Ha ha - that was a good shot! xx
@ ❤️😄
My grandmother would make hot onion poultice for ear ache when I was a child, many years later and after she had died and I was living in Munich the children’s doctor did the same .
Thank you for showing us remedies my grandmother used to use. Having warm onion on your ear or feet sounds far preferable to chemical medicine from the drug store! By the way, the scenery in your films is beautifully done!
Thank you, Terri, for these interesting onion therpaies. Can't wait to try them on my husband or other family members! x. P.S. The scenery shots were stunning.
Delighted you can use them. Thanks for watching xx
Love what you put out into this world! I cut up onions and place them under the bed of my daughter when she has an ear infections. When we where little my dad used to tape a quarter of an onion behind the ear when we had ear pains. Hope the power comes back soon! :) Have a lovely day!
All back to normal thanks! Hope you have a great day too xx
To be honest, it was the most relaxing thing ever.
do you grill the onions, or maybe carmelize them for the sandwich? sorry about the storm damage
I know - that is when you really and truly take time out and just be xx
@@JB-pd4ni Oh those sandwiches were made with raw onions. I do now like to cook them. Depends on my mood!
It helped!
Thanks for sharing! xx
I'm northeastern Ontario and we had 5 minutes of snowfall this morning lol. Woohoo!
Blessings back to you Karen. Always prepared here - I used to be a Girl Guide😂 xx
Hope all stays well with you over winter. xx
I live off grid, it can be tough but when I hear of power cuts and disruption to the water supply , it's worth it 💚
I fear for the pensioners in this awful weather 😢
My Grandmother used to boil an onion and put the 'core' in my ear if I had earache 💚
I agree. It is horrible what is happening to oaps. Hope there is another election soon. xx
@ 2.5 million signatures on the petition so far , I hope it can bring about change ✨ X
:) enjoyed the video
Onions are amazing
really liked the shots
of the furry friends 🐾
🌿thank you ❤
Glad you enjoyed it xx
Hope you are all back to normal by now.🙏 even the chicken’s were shocked with the snow 😅. We didn’t get any snow in Offaly. Very informative video Terri . Once again thank you 🙏 🍀🤍
We got around two inches in west Clare and the schools have been closed for three days. My friend in Kerry said her area was snowed under too. They couldn't get to work.
All back to normal thanks. Snow only lasted a day, then heavy rain and then some wind. Clear and cold today. Hope all well there xx
Great video! Love the natural healing. I hope you get your power restored soon! Blessings 🙏
Thanks Mary, all good here now xx
Somehow, my "granny" knew how to do this. (She was of Scottish descent.) Onion syrup is a standby remedy in our family. Thank you for your beautiful video.
Thankyou for this video. My dear Dad swore by onions. I luv'd the scenery and the happy puppies running in the snow. Grateful for you.
Nature in health, Nature in beauty. What a team. Thanks
You're welcome xx
I would want to. Know how long we're those pre chopped onions sitting around before bring packaged. If you can't use onions try Garlic xx
I absolutely look forward to new videos from you! I have been a follower for 4 years now. The amount of information I have learned here is quite astounding! Thank you for all the hard work in these beautiful videos. Your garden and the land around it are gorgeous.
You are so welcome. So glad to hear that they have been helpful and informative xx
On young children and babies smear the feet with olive oil first. It protects the skin from the burning xx your grandad had right idea xx
Thanks for the recommendations xx
All good here now, hope same for your daughter xx
Wow - thank you so much. The guy filming and editing is Lol my husband xx
@@lolhardiman5247 Yes, I thought it might be. You have a “professional” eye! Beautifully done! 🦋
Love these simple remedies! ❤
Me too. xx
I don't think I've ever seen Jazz that happy (Except maybe at the beach)! Dogs love the snow, don't they?
The hills there look so much like our valley here in Idaho. Just beautiful. ❤
~Jen
Our dogs just love to be outside - with us! Glad you enjoyed the scenery xx
STAY WARM N DRY OVER THERE. i love seeing the area u live in
I like to use onions in a lot of my cooking. Even eat a piece raw. Will have to remember you're home made remedy. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day 🙏.
You too Leona xx
Omg the snow ❄️ is so beautiful ❤ dogs love it. Yes onions 🌰 are truly an underrated miracle food ❤
Oignons grillés à la poêle avec de la semoule ou des petites coquillettes : quel délice.🤤
Mais bien sur! xx
Weekly Devotional...that's what I call your Video...I got Solar
I have a demonstrator Panel that I use to power an Indoor Fountain, and I had to wash off the Panel yesterday.
WE manage and we will manage - hope you don't get so cold this winter xx
Even then hens were reluctant to leave the coop…….chomh greannhar!!!!
You must be so grateful Terri, on days like you’ve experienced, to live off grid.
Go raibh míle math agat mo chara ❤
Anita xx
I remember my nan making this for me as a young child ❤
Our grandmothers pass on the wisdom xx
Thank you!
There are donkeys down the road but they are probably in stables now. Another time ...
🙏💫💖Thank-you Danu🙏💫💖my gran used to use onion 🌰 for sore ears💫🙏brought back happy memories 🙏
My pleasure 😊 xx
Blessings to you ❤
With so much uncertainty it makes sense to take some precautions xx
my great granma always boiled onions in milk for colds...they were delicious and always worked
Yes, my dad did same but it has to be raw milk as they had back then xx
Its nice to be prepared when needed. I enjoy you and your husband’s content, excellent.
Great video Terri with words of wisdom. We also had a day of snow here in Scotland. Magical. Blessings Janet.
It was so exciting, such a surprise xx
The old ways are the best ways. 💚 Thank you!
😂 But now I can show them this video and tell them it was NOT placebo ❤ 🤣
Thank you so much for sharing this onion wisdom!! Winter blessings to you and your family❤✨️
Winter blessings for health and happiness to you too xx
Oh my house stinks of onions in winter,if anyone stays/visits with the slightest sniffle then every room gets half an onion!😅
While I was having treatment at a hospital,we got chatting about the magick of onions, the nurse treating me said he always puts onions in his sons socks at night to stop coughing & can vouch that it works!....also any sign of a cold coming then I'll eat a sandwich with lots of raw onions for a quick fix(at home)...a definite no no out and about though like you said Terri..!
We do have water tanks for the garden and we could use that water if necessary because we have a water filter. xx
Thank you so much for your lovely words and kind support, John. Blessings to you and your family ❤
We are back to normal now. sorry to hear you are so reliant on electricity and hope you can maybe get a gas cooker?? xx
Great video with very useful information. Thank you for sharing, Terri. I hope your power and water come back on quickly. Stay warm and safe. Take care.
Thank you, I will all good now xx
I do love the guitar music played in your videos wonderfully relaxing especially when I watch your program in the bath cheers ❤😊
What a great piece of information thank you so much❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You are very welcome xx
The Kelly Kettle was invented in Mayo and a great standby for boiling water outdoors in a powercut. It has a chimney effect and doesn’t take long to heat water. Other versions from middle eastern countries I believe too.
I know, not far from us. We have one, brilliant invention xx
Excellent photography, just love your dogs, they are such great pals. Thanks for the tips about onions. Stzy warm.
All sorted here now thank you. Your granny knew what she was doing. A bread poultice is great for drawing out foreign bodies or infection xx
I eat tons of onions, garlic, shallots, leeks ect. Everything is better with more onions. ❤
Retorno a lo básico de nuestras abuelas 🫶🏼 beautiful landscape, beautiful sky 🫶🏼
I agree xx
Thank you Maria, you are very kind. I shared recipe in see more box below video xx
You're welcome.. They sound lovely xx
Small doses regularly - same with Vit C and you will be grand xx
First Snow here to in Lillehammer
Ours has gone now - it rarely comes and never lasts long xx
I always enjoy your videos. I live in New Mexico USA from Hispanic ancestry. I am amazed how your herbal remedies are so in tune with my ancestral herbal remedies.
Glad you like them. I suppose we all had access to the same herbs xx
Wow you have more snow than in Tahoe, high Sierras mountains.
You got snow! We usually have snow in Ontario by now, but have not had any yet.
It's all gone now. Came on Thursday, gone by Friday night xx
Thank you for always thinking of others ❤
It is good to share and empower people I think. xx
My Grandma Wright used onions overtime. Poultice for throat and colds. While gardening we are fresh onion and tomatoes because they are healthy.
Thanks! For the chat on onions.
Think our ancestors from Europe came and brought those sensible meds for us.
