Regionalizing divisions will cut back on fan investment. A Houston Texans fan not only tunes into Houston games but may take some interest in Dallas Cowboys games. Both teams are from the same state and they're not considered rivals, much a lot of times results in a fan still carrying about the performance of both teams. By caring for both teams they also care about a wider range of divisional opponents. This creates more familiarity with a wider base. Come playoff time the fan is less likely to check out whether two teams are out because they're familiarity with a larger number of teams.

You know I spent some time thinking about it and I do not understand this point of view. The NFL is a mainstream league, they do not profit from a casual viewer who MAY tune into an extra playoff game of a nearby team. Regionalizing increases monetary gains from fans who would be more willing to pay higher ticket prices because their travel costs are cheaper. Also, the Cowboys/Texans argument seems pretty specific as they are one of the few in-state duos who aren’t rivals in some capacity.

Eagles vs steelers, giants vs jets, Texans vs cowboys, rams vs chargers, buccs vs dolphins vs jaguars, would make the nfl crazy money

One of my picks would be St. Louis because they were screwed out of a franchise not once but twice when both the Cardinals and Rams moved to different cities and States. Also some Highschool soccer teams in my area in Western PA shared the same field as their football teams. I can see that happening at the pro level. I wouldn't go international due to the fact of cultural difference between football and soccer also rugby is also pretty big in Europe as well.
I know some things about the CFL like their fields are different and their rules are very different like CFL teams only get 3 downs instead of 4 vs the NFL. I also know some very well known players and Coaches like Bud Grant who used to be an NFL coach of the Vikings who won 3 Grey Cup championships and both Doug Flutie and Warren Moon also played in the CFL and won some Grey Cups as well. However I can't see a merger working because how the fields and rules are very different. It wasn't like the AFL and NFL merger that happened in in 1970. The only rule difference to my knowledge between the AFL and NFL was that the AFL had the 2pt Conversion which the NFL didn't adopt until 1994.

The CFL would never allow the Teams of the CFL merge into the NFL, to make the NFL better. The CFL would just say have a nice day. But The NFL could place Teams in Portland, Oregon, Birmingham,Alabama, Omaha, Nebraska, and Salt Lake City, Utah. These 4 Cities don’t have NFL Teams, and would have a better chance of getting the League more across the US map. Forget San Diego, North & South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, not enough people. Iowa, New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine. All because they don’t have enough people. But, You could relocate some Teams to areas with potential and population, just move some Teams to other places. Florida and California both have more than one Team. Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania all have 2 Teams. Spread the Teams around for Everyone to get a Team. Just a crazy thought idea for some People who have to travel far just to see Their Teams.

I just moved out of Portland after living there for 5 years and being a delivery Driver in the area for 2 (so i got to see lots of people's yard signs and team decorations). The Seahawks are popular there but far from have a stranglehold on the market, the 9ers are just as popular and there are probably as many random out of market fans as there are Seahawks or 9ers fans. I think a Portland team could take over.

Absolutely not!!! The NFL will want us to change The CFL . our field size will need to be smaller . Thety'll want us to go to four downs. wNFL will want us to get rid of the extra man on the field go from 12 to 11. they'll want us to take NFL rules in general that's what makes the CFL unique is our rule set. And big brother will want to take it all away no thank you!!!
