    Hey Mike, as a long term user of Cakewalk I once again found your brilliant video very informative. I frequently send tracks I have recorded for other people but up until now was unaware that it could be done from the Export Audio tab. This is going to save me a lot of time in future. Also, I had heard the term "Stem" but was not really sure what they were all about. Once again I come away from your video much wiser! Many thanks!

    Thank-You!! I never had a problem exporting with Sonar, but my Bandlab exports were completely nuked with noise. I never touched dithering settings in Sonar (or I set it many years ago and forgot about it). Your tutorial got me to change that setting and now my exports are back to normal. Saves me a lot of time since I was resorting to mixing down all of my tracks so that my exports would only deal with audio tracks. I should have thought to experiment with dithering, but my time with my gear is very limited, so I appreciate the leg up. Cheers!

    • @CreativeSauce
      @CreativeSauce  4 роки тому

    Really clear again, Mike.
    The "bounce to track" function is brilliant if you have loads going on and the comp is struggling - you just export that "finished" track;
    Not so long ago you had to convert to a "bundle" to share, etc. Now if you just copy the file project folder, all the info is contained, and you can store this on another drive as back-up, as well :-)

    8:26 I have to enable high pass. For some reason when I export with the regular settings, the entire mix sounds very bassy, hollow, and kind of muffled. Nowhere near how good it sounds in the session. Not sure what's wrong but it's a work around that is better than the standard export.

    When you exported stems I noticed the buss fader levels were relative to each other resulting in some buss tracks having a higher volume level than others. Does that mean each stem wav file will have a different volume level?
    Here are some subject suggestions for future videos: (1) Organizing computer storage for music projects (1a) on a computer with only one primary storage drive (1b) on a computer with multiple storage drives. (2) Song or music project organization including labeling, grouping and color coding tracks, track routing through busses, when to insert and when to use sends and returns.

    I'm trying to save CPU by bouncing my MIDI tracks to audio. I think I did it correctly, but what do I do with the original MIDI track? Do I mute it or do I keep both? Do I freeze the MIDI track? How does all this work when it's time to export the final project or even send it to a mix engineer?

    Thank you - helpful - couple of questions:
    If you have an external Synth or module how does this get included in the Export - do you not have to write this info to a track?, secondly with the export will the importer need to do aligning in their DAW or will everything be imported to the correct position (this is where something starts say bar 4 or similar)

    • @CreativeSauce
      @CreativeSauce  4 роки тому +2

      Great questions Simon. Yes, for an external synth, you'd need to run a cable(s) from it's audio output, and record it as audio in Cakewalk.
      As for aligning, Cakewalk includes any blank space before an instrument plays. So it's super easy when importing gv to another DAW, no need to line anything up :)

      @@CreativeSauce I'm fairly new to this stuff but what has bothered me is that I cannot convert my midi data created using my external keyboard (Korg M50) to audio. I find it easier and more robust to edit midi data than audio. And the sounds that my Korg generates are better and more vast than any vst instrument I've found. So as you said, I've had to plug my Korg directly into my interface. Korg does sell vst packages, the most expensive being $499! And I'm not even sure those can be bounced to audio. Is there any possible workaround you're aware of to record my Korg in midi and convert to audio? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but figured I'd give an expert a shot. Thanks for your very informative videos.

      mr. jinks At some point you will have record the audio output of your hardware synth into your daw. Or, looking at more basically, the audio signal has to be converted into digital, if you want to manipulate or digitally distribute your synth's sounds.

      @abc456f 4 роки тому

    I’ve been using CW for years, and I’ve had this common issue of my exports sounding... a little bit too trebly and ‘airy’ no matter what I do. I’ve tried everything. Exporting from the master buss, deleting reverbs everywhere I can, disabling any enhancements, adjusting sample rate, getting granular with panning and subtractive EQ but so often my mixes just sound too trebly after export, not in the DAW.

    When I try to upload to UA-cam I get this message:

    This app has not been verified yet by Google in order to use Google Sign In.
    And yet I think I have verified the account?

    Thanks for another great video Mike! Probably a stupid question but I noticed that you didn't tick the 64 bit engine on the mp3 export - why was that?
