      How do you know? Just because you or your ancestors might come from Bristol or Gloucester that doesn't mean you have either Brythonic or Dobunni DNA.

      Well, Nigel...i didnt know where my ancesters lived. I had my DNA analysed by an ancient DNA company. From that , the earliest of any part of my DNA strands found in UK matched to DNA from finds associated with the Dobunni. So you see, it's not ME who decided I was related..its science.
      Your welcome.

    Possibly evolved into the Hwicce who were granted certain rights in the Kingdom of Mercia including keeping their Christian faith at a time when the religion of Mercia was Saxon paganism. It's that glimpsing of possible understanding at the edges of mostly forgotten history that makes peoples like this so interesting.

    Were the hill forts on stilts 🤔 I used to have a reoccurring dream about my tribe been attacked and burned . I was too late getting down the hill 😱

    • @NerdWorldHistory
      @NerdWorldHistory  Рік тому +1

      Cool dream, no they weren’t many used timber and stone to help build the ramparts, make them stronger and more impressive, plus a wall of some kind on top. There were stilted houses like cranogs (probably spelt that wrong) but not all of them were stilted and there was stilted buildings in hill forts in some cases likely stores to protect them somewhat.

    Stop calling the island Britannia, thats the Roman name. The Brythons called it Brydein.

    • @NerdWorldHistory
      @NerdWorldHistory  5 місяців тому +3

      Relax, they also didn't call themselves Celts either, it's easier for people to know where you're referring to by using the common name.
