It's great to see you covering Celtic coinage, I've been fortunate enough to find three of my own. Keep up the good work! 👍
Thank you Steven! Congrats on the finds as well, what coins did you find? 🤓
@@TheHammeredCorner I've been very lucky and found three amazing Tasciovanus Warrior gold staters. Amazing history under our feet!
@@stevenhall7659 incredible luck Steve! As a hoard or all scattered around?
@@TheHammeredCorner Scattered over a large area, too far apart to be considered a hoard. I would love to add to my collection but like you say, they're very expensive.
I don't have any gold staters
But I'm privileged to own two dubuni silver units. One of which is the only one in existence and is classed of national importance. Thank you for a great video . Many thanks wasp and Helen 🐝😷
Incredible Helen! Was it a detecting find? ☺️
@@TheHammeredCorner all our coins are detecting finds.
All our coins are on the PAS .
Helen is the silver Roman and hammered queen. I'm silver units. skeate. And oddities. Thank you for your reply wasp and Helen 😷🐝
I would love some celtic coinage especially from around the west coast.
Fantastic! I find that Celtic coins have an inherent mystery and allure to them that is hard to match with very few other fields of our hobby. Lovely examples too.
Thanks mate! They’re a pretty incredible bit of history 😊
What a fascinating video, I just found your channel and will enjoy watching your videos. I found a Dobunni quarter stater a few months ago up near Leominster (sun burst little horse type) and I absolutely love it, thank you for sharing your knowledge 😁👍
Welcome to the channel my friend, glad to have you aboard! Congrats on the find, I’ll check your video out on it after work if you have a link? 🤓
I am amazed that the Dobunni were using the same alphabet 2000 years ago.
Quality video!! I think there’s a lot to learn from these coins then maybe more suggests. The repetition of horses and wheels for example certainly points towards a work-based, ‘living off the land’ culture in this era. Even the importance of the horse as a symbol brings up questions as to why it’s viewed as more important than perhaps a portrait of a ruler or (if one ever existed) a symbol to represent the tribes. Great coins and very informative once again, thank you!
Thank you Tom, I totally agree! I think the simplicity must have meant a lot back then, back when tools and knowledge was limited. What a fantastic comment mate! 🤓🧐
Stunning to see and think of the age and detail of the coins wonderful thank you for sharing 👍
Thanks mate!
tpp shelf as always Luke thanks mate
Thanks so much Ash :)
Absolutely stunning starters Luke, a metal detectorist's dream.
They really are! A pleasure to hold them 🤩
Iron age coins are so beautifull and I love the abstract art work. I did find a gallo-belgic quarter stater once but it was sadly burgled from me. The image quality in your videos is great - very crisp (despite the finger shake!)
Thanks Stefan, I’m sorry to hear about your coin! And I shoot in 4K, a very high quality format which allows me to zoom in without losing quality! And yes excuse one of the finger shakes 🤣
Hi Luke, great episode! You forgot Shropshire, I'm lucky to live near an unrecorded iron age hillfort and I'm a detecting numastasist...I'm lucky to be finding my own dubunni collection.
Thanks for adding to it Bert, that will help add to the history of the coins and video 😎 how’s the collection coming along?
Aye Salopian/Pengwern/Cornovii.
well done Luke...a very informative video, i like yourself can only dream of finding or owning a Stater...but i doubt if there's any buried up here where i am...i crave to find Hammered Gold and an axe or spear head..(amongst other items)...i hope you had a great xmas and i wish you good luck in this new year...all the best...GL&HH Gordon.
Thank you kindly for you comment Gordon! Keep searching for them, they’re out there for you to find. 2022 is your year! ☺️🎉
Great to see these coins together, great content. Ps, I've sent you a FB pm by way of introduction, hope you don't mind. Cheers
Course Andy, thanks mate! I’ve just replied ☺️
Great video

Simply awesome 🤩
Thank you!

nice, Celts also minted coins here, most famous from them are so called biatecs
Thanks Andrej, is that in Poland? 😊
@@TheHammeredCorner Slovakia
Interesting video I have been lucky enough to find anted dobunni staters which you can see on my profile pic .
Great video Luke and some very nice coins👍 however staters we’re not cast.
Thanks Mick, yes you’re right! My mistake in the video ☺️
Would be interesting to know what the gold content of these coins was. These coins look more like electrum than gold.
Me too! ☺️
@@TheHammeredCorner It maybe worth asking your friend if he's curious to take the coins down to jewlers or pawnbrokers / gold merchant who has a handheld xrf scanner or a local university.
it looks corio is more rich in gold than the others that look copper, LIKE
This looks like phils collection?
They look uncirculated. I wonder what was the purpose of coins that were not used as money ? At the time, (1st century BC) the Romans controlled most of Europe, so maybe the Celtic rulers were trying to emulate the Roman rulers.
Hey mark, Gold staters we’re a symbol of wealth back then ☺️
