pretty late but it's funny that it's the "academic" surgeon who's the maddened true believer and that the deacon is the corrupt dude who's actually cruel.
This music is almost dark soulsesque. It tells a story of a corrupt man in high power which is very common. And a boy suffering from the man's cruelty and lack of empathy and compassion. He abused the poor child and kept him locked away because he was "sick". Just lovely story telling and soundtrack in a game.
First time fighting him, I killed him so fast that I didn't even get to experience the fight, and especially none of the music. We took him out before his first attack. HUGE thanks to Prudence, Candide, and Modesty for shredding him. Shadow Round is OP.
Very cathartic fight, this one ; he steamrolled me the first time, so on the second run, the last day I resurrected the soulslinger he killed last, and the whole fight was basically repeated "oh no you don't" each time he tried to do something
My favorite track. Noon boss though. Put my shieldaughter between him and the wall. Armor slam spam with backstabbing shadow round. I feel like I need to confess for **** after this murder
This theme is just so good. I havent totally finished yet but this boss is the one that had the most impact on me. His theme is insane, and he suddenly violently ended the life of the first daughters i really cared of (*SPOILER* which were almost my first deaths, i didnt know yet we later can get our fav ones back every remembrances so it hurted). I'll just allways remember my first fight against him
Dude absolutely demolished my soulslingers. In the end it boiled down to my 2 already half health shields spamming blacksmiths grace and lunge then slugging it out.

I am about to fight him for 1st time... Given fact that I've lost 2 times before to Surgeon I expect big ass whooping form him. I hope my girls can handle him...
@@knighttemplaroftentacult7123 Good luck. He is a fucking bastard compared to Surgeon and you will NEED sword daughters or you won´t get through his armor. The longer the game goes the harder it gets, he´s a giant DPS check. If you let him live too long he´ll start spamming a high damage AOE all around the room and the only way to dodge it is to get close to him... But he can push daughter away from him. Yes, into said AOE. He´s my least favorite boss as of yet.

I don't really want to be the downer or nitpick. But to me this boss wasn't really that great at least compared to the surgeon. I haven't fought the next boss yet. But overall this guy really just felt like an entity the weaken me before the next era which I don't like. Last statement as a boss he is fine I was mostly just disappointed after the surgeon felt like a gatekeeper to the rest of the game making me struggle and then this guy wasn't as tough as I was anticipating.
The Deacon is a piece of shit character that preys on the weak and the people least able to defend themselves. His boss fight reflects this - if you're unaware of what he does, Confession will naturally end up targeting the Soulslinger - the one usually furthest and least able to put up enough DPS to protect themselves against his advances. On the flip side, if he ends up picking victims that can adequately fight back, Confession can be shut down in a hurry. A Swordmaster with Sidestep + Lightning Strike will also completely bypass his rooting strategy. He is a boss that can be incredibly cheap, who can target and destroy a team's Soulslinger and have everything go downhill from there. Or you may be good enough to read him early enough to prevent the worst of it, in that case, he would be a lot easier but still annoying. I do absolutely love the way his tactic completely reflects the sick person he was in the story.
@@Moonhermit2 interesting, he targeted one of by Blademasters first with confession, the weakest one but still. Saddly later in the fight he did his teleport move and decimated my Soulslinger. She's the only one I lost but the others were 600- hp at the end of it. Im trying to get to the third boss at least before I run dry. Best game of the year for me.
Here we are again, over 2 years later and I'm doing another run of the game. This guy actually killed me and without issues this time. I got him low on health but reached a point where my only surviving daughter couldn't hurt him.

Interesting detail. When I fought him for the second time, he said something along the lines of "back for another confession?" HE KNOWS.
The Surgeon does that too, one of the intros he sometimes says is "yet again, you interrupt crucial work!"

Damn that was deep.. Game's that good huh?? been iffy on buying it. Love Dark Souls, and silent hill.. Just dont know if i'll get into the genre.

Loved this song it went well with the boss, but this boss was my least favorite, tough but not my favorite. Music made him way better though

This is probably my favorite theme in the game thus far to be honest and I probably should've started with that.
