    For hemming a beaded dress you can pick or cut off all the beads on the hem allowance so you won't break needles. If you were making it from scratch with a beaded fabric, you'd also cut off the beads from the seam allowances.

    • @emilyhaworth9375
      @emilyhaworth9375  Місяць тому +5

      I should have done that, I’m not sure what was going through my head when i thought my machine would sew the hem without breaking so many needles, thank youu I’ll give that a go next time I work with beaded fabric :)) x

      @@emilyhaworth9375 It's tedious to de-bead the allowances, but saves a lot of needles.🙂

    Aside from breaking the needles on the beaded dress, which can be remedied by removing the beads in the hem area, the continued needles breaking could be all sorts of thing but my guess would be (after so many needle changes) is that they're being installed wrong.... make sure the flat side of the needle is against the machine or it'll roll around and hit the throat plate.. snap, break! Fun upcycles...... you go girl!

    • @emilyhaworth9375

      Ahhh that makes a lot of sense as to why they were all breaking, thank you I’ll be making sure to take extra care when installing them!! Xx

    Great flips. If your sewing machine is still breaking needles, it might be that it's got misaligned or there might be a bit of broken bead/needles in the mashine still (I've had that issue). Sometimes a good clean out of the insides fixes it. If it doesn't, a service of the mashine should fix it.

    I’m sure you’ve gotten lots of advice, but this might be new/fresh:
    •you can put the ties slightly in/under, so they tie the top flush with no gaps, like the one in the picture you showed (looks cute either way though)
    •THIS IS MY HOLY GRAIL for sequined items. If the dress gives you a rash under your arms, or irritates your skin, you can remove sequins (beads are usually fine to leave on) by cutting them individually from the outside toward the hole but DON’T cut the thread bc then sometimes you end up w a mess to fix. I have sensitive skin and always get a rash from sequins under my arms.
    •(your needles might be breaking due to alignment?? Idk a ton abt that but I hope it gets squared)
    I love the blue gingham top so much! My favorite.
    TY for sharing this, I loved it

    If you wanted to wear without an extra hot layer you could probably sew up the center and just have the top bow functional. It might be easier to whip or blinf stitch the bows. Sometimes the machine just complicates some things. I would just get the edges and not even try to go all the way through.
