I love the statement of 'as long as you get to where you're going, does it matter how you got there'. Loved this journey and ideas
I landed here by accident. And I'm so glad I did! I've been sewing for over 50 years & you reminded me of how much fun sewing was for me when I was first learning. I remade my own clothes & clothes my grandmother & aunt gave to me. I made it up as I went along. From their leftover scraps & I made skirt, shorts & tops... Don't apologize because you don't know the "correct" way to do something or what the terminology is. That doesn't matter. What matters is passion! And you have it! You will figure it out! Just like you did in this video. As long as you get the results you want. Right! The simplest & best advice I give to anyone starting out is "clip your threads & use your iron." Those 2 things go a long way in making a sewing project look good. I wish you all the best & much success!❤
This was the nicest comment, thank you so much for writing it and believing in me! Are you still sewing? Any fun projects on the go?
I still sew. I don't have anything going on right now. I need to hem 2 pairs of curtains first. I bought a cute little black dress at Goodwill. I don't do sleeveless, so I'm going to cut the top off & make a skirt. It's cute with layers of gathers & ruffles.
Sometimes those hemming projects really do pile-up, I have so many I need to complete!@@nitagail77
You have verbal diareah..
Such a nice, genuine comment. My grandma used to sew and more until her arthritis got too bad. I love that she taught me artistic skills from a young age. It was and still is my passion. I love creating. I am learning new techniques every time I sit down at my desk. “Clip your threads and use your iron” got it. Thank you❤ also @tasha I just stumbled onto your videos and I subscribe after watching this video. You inspire me. Time to get to work.
Knowing the "correct" sewing terms doesn't make you better at sewing, it only helps you understand other peoples' explanations. Practice is the only thing that makes you more skilled.
I have literally been sewing for decades and I still sew things inside out, it just happens sometimes.
I really like what you've done.
Yes, please!, do more of these! I used to know how to sew years ago but haven't done much since then. You have great ideas and the end results are so cute!
oh those turned out so well I'm actually jealous...LOL - love them both. I do this with things all the time - in fact I will sometimes buy something with its transformation already in my head when I 'm in the thrift shop. More of this please!
I've seen videos where pants like that are referred to as secret pants. They turned out so good. I love that they have the flowy look of a skirt but the comfort of pants. I really want to make some for myself now.
I’ve been doing a lot of this. Taking tees and cutting them off, adding fabric to bottom and making dresses (maxi). So fun
Love your ideas ❤
Loving how you transformed both pieces of clothes! They def look a lot cuter ❤
Love the "plan a, plan b, plan c approach! Especially for the robe idea!!! Thats so cute ! In the south we call the outside robes "cover ups" so we can pretwnd its cold outside
Loved this! I started sewing about 18 months ago and I'm absolutely obsessed! I don't upcycle too many things but I make my own clothes from scratch now and it's my favourite hobby and it's all I want to do now. Both your projects turned out great! It's incredible how far some basic sewing knowledge can take you and the way it opens up possibilities when thrifting or looking at pieces in your wardrobe you never wear.
Yes, please do more! You are excellent in explaining why you make the changes and how you do them. Thank you from a new subscriber!
Thank you so much for subscribing, it means the world to me!!!
Omg you just gave me the best idea ever! I’m doing a no buy and I was really Temped to buy certain items and declutter my old clothes. Now I want to take the dresses I don’t wear and make them into skirts or have someone do it for as I don’t know how to sew. You just saved me a lot of money!❤
I love how the pants turned out!
You killed it! You’ve inspired me to dust off my machines and create a whole new wardrobe with my pieces!
Ive been remaking thrift clothes since about age 10 and also using patterns. Only in early 70s through 80s did I find material cost effective to work with. Back to upcycling thrift again. I was actually taught to use my mother's treadle age 5. First making paper stamps. Did a bit of kid sewng like doll pillow etc. Was taught to do hand mending too. Sew on buttons. Im 68 now. Retired a bit rural a town of 2,000 in high desert and I guess Im the town mender. Ive tried teaching but keep getting no shows. Started a blog for upcycle but thats way behind. My mother had a saying....the machine sews a straight line, you are the creator! I alter sleeves a lot. For one at my age I wont wear sleeveless or short sleeves! Often I take cap sleeves off tshirts and remake them out of lace. To note you only need to trace the cap in any sleeve to a few inches down the arm. You can then do whatever you want below that. I like 3/4. Sometimes I add a cuff of main body of top or gather in elastic. The first dress if you wanted could have taken all the gathers out of the sleeve, recut to match armseye and if me I would have made 3/4 with a gather. The sleeves were wide because of the top gathers. And seems they carried that on down the entire sleeve. You can have slight top gathers and not have a wide sleeve. Anyway. I like what you did. Im looking to make wide pants from a light weight material for summer because high desert is hot. Im going to now look for dresses to make pants! Keep on going! You are doing great!
This video was so wholesome, relatable, and motivating 💕
I would definitely watch more!
Love the secret pants......it's actually inspired me to do something with some of my clothes I don't wear but like.
this is gr8! i love seeing people upcycle their clothes and all the ingenuity that goes into it!
I loved this video!! Please do more of these sewing/upcycling videos. I have several pieces in my closet that I want to change and upcycle and now you have motivated me to get them done!! I have already removed the elastic from several blouse sleeves and they look a million times better. ❤
The robe came out stunning! Great job Tasha ✨
I have a lovely dress that I don't use much for some reason and I just realised is the sleeves!!
True inspirational. I will get rid of the elastic.
Your vision for how to change both garments was inspiring. Thanks!
I love this idea. I've been wanting to do this but I don't have a sewing machine. They turned out great. I really like how the dress to duster turned out. I would definitely like to see more videos like this. Give the doggos some lovin from me.😂
"Essentially" 😂. Love your bravery, just jumping in there!
The pants turned out amazing!! Loving your content and how much you’re uploading!! The studio is adorable!
This was fantastic! 👏 Definitely do more of these. Even just your life philosophy on sewing was worth the watch 😄
Very clever flips. The last one i would make the sleeves a bit shorter and add the part you cut off at the sleeves to the bottom seam of the jacket to make it even longer. Love those pants. Clever❤❤
I love this ❤ would be 100% down to watch you update more of your clothes 😍
Please do more of these. Great content for learning how to look at what a garment can become!
Wow! Love how both pieces came out. The pants look stunning! And the (former) dress is so much better as a robe! Totally your vibe. :)
I wish I had some of your skills!
I am so proud of you. Very brave to these updos on camera. You are inspiring me to do myself. You are awesome.
I love your channel. Im 80 years old and love watching creative projects. Yours is amazing and practical. You rock! Do more!
I'm so glad I found your channel. I love your style and I needed some inspo for up cycling. I made my first pair of pants that I love (finally). So I'm a sewing beginner too.
Brilliant! Both pieces look professional and are absolutely inspirational.
Amazing transformations! The pants are amazing and YES I WANT MORE ❤
I've been meaning to do this too. I have a stack of clothes to fix but my sewing skills are also mediocre haha. I am very envious of those pants im so glad you did this!
SO cute! Great idea, Angela! I'm in the middle of turning a pair of sweat pants into a skirt.😊 Thanks for sharing this genius upcycles🙏❤️🌺
I'm going to start this same journey soon. It's refreshing to find somebody with the same skill level and your giving me the confidence to make the first cut.
Oh this makes me so happy. Truly, there’s no better feeling than making something you love that fits you perfectly. 😭
🎉 They turned out great! Can't wait to see what else you want to upcycle!
Very easy and transformative changes to your pieces that turned out great… more videos please I used to watch you a lot but haven’t in a while
So fun to watch! I actually do sew but I found it so fun to just watch you troubleshoot as you went along, and omg these turned out soooo cute! Those PANTSSSS ❤❤❤
Any tips for me?!
@@TashaLeelyn Only more practice and experimentation! Try making pockets because it teaches you the basics of backwards thinking since that’s what a lot of sewing is. And maybe a bigger iron if you take on any larger projects haha 🥰🥰
Both pieces turned out super cute!!!
Oh I love both creations. Very inspiring. Thanks.
I love the video and both pieces turned out beautifully, but for the robe you could have used bias tape to keep the original neckline top part as you would use the bias tape to hem instead of rolling the hem, regardless I absolutely loved how the robe looked at the end. Would love to see another video!!
Both came out really cute! I really like the kimono!!
Super cute on both pieces. The "robe" can be worn over what you are already wearing to out and about!
I’d loved to see more!!! It gives me inspo to try it myself as a fellow non-pro sewer
Good for you! The colour of the pink robe looks amazing on you.
Love the upcycles, more, please!
These turned out amazing! Please do a lot more of these!
Really enjoyed this how of video. You made both pieces look so good.
Yes to more videos like these! Really loved your end results!
Yay!! I’m so happy you enjoyed!!!
Love these! I’m going to make one of dresses into a robe this weekend, thanks for the inspo 😊
Wow, you did a great job Tasha!
Thank you ❤️ it was not easy, but I feel I get better with the sewing machine everyday!
You did a great job! the pieces look so much better after you altered them. I've been sewing 10 years, and you did great!
Gosh, what a compliment coming from you! Question, when doing the seem, like let's say for the legs, any tips on not having that raw edge? would i fold the seam twice?
you could fold the seam twice, but thats typically used for hems only. I would try the zig zag stitch on your machine. sew along the edges of the raw edge after you do your straight stitch. that should hold it just fine.@@TashaLeelyn
Love this video!! I just bought a dress with a gorgeous pattern, but was crazy about the fit. Definitely making pants!!
I do my sewing the same way and pretty much my whole UA-cam channel is just me figuring things out as I go 😂 love the pieces!
So very smart to create wearable pieces Tasha!!!… please do more… you explain everything very clearly… Enjoyed the video a lot!!.. Bravo!!!😊
You did so good I love both pieces and I know you do too anytime you can do more I will watch ❤
So cute, I love upcycles.
They both look SO good! You did a great job 👏🏻 🖤
The robe is SO GOOD!
Awesome video, just love that housecoat and welcome to NS.
Both turned out fab xx so please do more as it's great for ideas x love it ❤
They turned out so so cute!!
These turned out phenomenal!! Those pants 😍
You did such a good job. These are gorgeous. 🥹
love to watch you sew! gets me real inspired to find creative solutions for upcycling projects!
Those pants turned out sooo cute!
The second one doesn't have to be a robe. You can wear it over more form fitting, sleeveless jump suit of a solid color, or short or long dress as a light outer layer
Love this! I’d wear that robe exactly like you tried it on, it’s beautiful over the white skirt.
These both turned out so great!
I love this video idea! They turned out amazing!
Yes!! Do more they turned out soo good!!
Loved this, please keep them coming 🙌🏼💕
I loved this video!! PLEASE do more!!!

😅 why do they pile up so quickly
They look amazing!!! Awesome job 🎉
I need to change up alot of my clothes 😊

Definitely do more! Great ideas. 😊
The robe is sooooooo good!

You did such a fantastic job!!!
You did a great job, I am also a hack and slash sewing human and it’s fine.. can’t learn unless you try! And my meticulous seamstress mom has been surprised many times by what I’ve done, in a good way;)
