Upcycling Thrifted Clothes!

- I have this bad habit of buying cheap clothes second hand thinking that I can use them for their material, taking them home and washing them, and throwing them in this big pile in the corner of my craft room. Well recently that pile is looking a bit more like a mountain. In this video I am going to actually do something with them!

I hope you know how unique and special you are. I'm just an old lady, but am so proud of younger women like you!
That is so sweet, thank you! In my opinion it’s the compliments from the older ladies that are the highest! 🥰
The embroidered flowers on the Neiman Marcus sweater made my heart sing. Nobody cares if it's "real" embroidery or not because it is charming. All the repairs you made to that sweater really respected the worth of that garment!
Sweetie, you never need to JUSTIFY anything to anyone. You are a crafter, able to see how things go together ❤️
Please be kind to yourself!
I'm so enjoying your vid, I do a lot of the same thing!
Hannah, your hilarious! Just came across your channel, I grew up sewing & thrifting and have really been inspired to start up again lately. These time honored traditions are more important than ever, I'm an artist and love people like you that are inspiring us all to be CREATIVE with our time! 💖
You are a delight to watch! I LOVED that green skirt- what a creative way to use scraps. Inspired to jump in to my pile now, and would definitely love to see a round 2 from you. ☺️
so entertaining. could literally binge watch every episode of this till that pile is gone😂
More, please. My thrift pile needs downsizing, too. You've given me inspiration. Just shortened one pair of wide leg pants into culottes and lengthened another pair. Go me! Go you!
I love the corduroy shaket so much. And the embroidery on the red sweater is great visible mending. There’s many great books and styles to mending holes in a fun way. Good job
The corduroy shacket and the red embroidered sweater were my favourites ❤️ I really like following your sewing journey! The effort you're putting in really shows 🌞 looking forward to more upcycling videos!!
You are very talented! Its so nice seeing a young lady who loves to sew. Your up cycling projects turned out beautifully. I hope to see more of your videos in the future.❤
Please do more of these!! This was so fun!
Yessss we need more upcycling content! I’m absolutely obsessed with your ideas!!!
I love the upcycling and your candor. Could you show more of your patterning process, please? You’re very inspiring!
I’m turning my clothes into quilts. It’s the fabric I love, not the clothes. It’s taken me my whole life to figure that out 😂
All the Barbie dolls in the background made me smile!
Yes, more upcycles please! I love how the linen skirt and the shirt turned out. Great job and wonderful creativity.
Linen softens up the more it’s worn and washed!
The autumnal colours in your new jacket make you shine!!
It's great to see your process and how you tackle different fit issues! I'd love to watch more of these "pile" videos :)
The embroidery flowers are awesome! Well done,!
Omg the embroidery job on that red shirt! Looks so so good! Good job
You did a really great job and I like watching your videos because I have a similar aesthetic. I do watch a lot of people who give me great ideas and have beautiful luxe, but they just aren’t anything I relate to for myself. On the green linen dress that was heavy and stiff. The fact that they only dry cleaned it is the reason and once you start washing it like normal clothes, I think that you’re going to find that it softens up nicely that being said, the heavier linen is always going to be a heavier linen so there’s that, but it’s usually softer when you wash it.
I love the shack it and I love the sweaters . The skirts are beautiful, and I fully appreciate that you saved them from a terrible fate.
I love what you did with the linen shirt and dress. The green linen skirt was so cute and quirky. It looks pretty much like a regular shirt from the front and then on the side he got all that personality and you know that the pocket on the front with personality too bad that the line of the skirt is really modern and classic and grown-up and then you just got all the fun sprinkled throughout.
I look forward to catching up on your previous videos and watching future ones.
Love the jacket! Love the linen skirt - especially what you did along the sides. Looking forward to seeing what you do with more from the pile. :) Thank you!
Excellent work with the upcycles. I like how you’re conscientious about the issues that plus-sized women have about finding nice clothes that fit, and you only bought the plus-sized clothes to upcycle when it was obvious that they were rejects.
I have the same goal as you - upcycle my stash, and DON’T buy any new clothing until my entire stash has been upcycled.
I really enjoyed this! It’s fun to watch you get ideas along the way and then change your mind along the way! I’m 76 and I remember watching my mother sew and when I was 15 I started sewing clothes to wear to high school! Simple patterns, skirts and sleeveless tops that matched. I hit the thrift shops with my mother and best friend and it’s amazing the ideas we can get and it’s so much fun when your clothes are different and you get compliments and you can say I designed it and made it! I wonder how many people have piles of clothes that are an inspiration! Thanks for the fun!❤❤❤❤❤
You had me at piles
Great video. Please make more clothing upcycle videos, especially skirts.
Yes!

Just seeing your channel for the first time. I love seeing all your plants. That rik-rak cactus is so easy to root !!
That was so great! I love how you left pink thread in your serger LOL. Please wear the salmon linen jacket with the frog skirt - they belong together! Very excellent work. I applaud your bravery, and the thoughts on the green corduroy shacket process.
Good job! Love the colorful Walmart skirt, raspberry thread on your serger, the flowers on the red sweater, and the green linen skirt turned out real cute!
I buy clothes second hand to make doll clothes... Now I'm into second hand flannel and western shirts...
It’s amazing what can be done by sewing. Thank you for sharing! Very cute skirt, etc.!
Yay! I wasn’t that hooked on the pink tiered skirt until you added the white rikrak; THAT was magic. Beautiful!
LOL when you popped out of the pile, I cackled 🤣
Your projects are amazing. My favorite is the skirt with the frogs and the red sweater you embroidered. Fun,to watch 😊
Everything I see you do reminds me of my parents and my grandparents their original clothing that they where, always complimented on. it's just what I see you doing with the mixing and matching hand me down, second hand clothes and they where made by their parents to complement each other so beautifully .You inspire me though I never learn to do sewing the way they did ,but it's never to late to start .❤❤❤
so fun that you reprimand us for not reminding you there is a hole in your sweater...ha, ha, great subtle sense of humour, hugs from granny in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
You've inspired me to make a skirt out of a too-short-for-me linen shift, so I will wear it! It has a matching tunic jacket, and it may be my Easter outfit!
I love the last two, especially the details on the skirt.
Hannah, I love your enthusiasm and excitement. I’ve watched many up cycling videos, and I like, and am inspired by your videos more than, I think, all the others I have seen. You inspire me to get back into the sewing room room with more determination than I’ve had in quite a while. Thank you, thank you, thank you. YES PLEASE! make many more of cycle videos to inspire all your UA-cam admirers!
I love the green skirt and coral top! I never would have thought of doing little patches, and it looks great on you! Good job!!
I loved the yellow skirt. The other projects, as well. Please do more upcycling videos ❤
The frog skirt is amazing, loveee it..... 😍😍😍
I am retired for many years already, and I would not take all that time to embroider the red sweater. Kudos!!!! another solution would be to "tink" (that's knit backwards) the whole sweater and knit a new one. Of course wherever there was a hole, you'll probably be knotting the strands together. And that caused a little loss of yarn each time. The new sweater would have to be maybe sleeveless or you might just have enough to make a vest. You have a bright future ahead of you!
I want more! I love the corduroy shacket and the linen skirt. The two side inlays, genius!❤
Great video. I hadn't thought to upcycle a shirt to make a jacket. Love this one.
Wow! That green jacket looks amazing. It seemed like a difficult task, but you made it look easy. Fantastic! Come on! You made that red Neiman Marcus sweater so much cuter. You are a woman of many talents!
What you did the the corduroy shirt is fabulous 🥰
Great ideas! You're very creative. I love the fact that you have now customized your woredrobe. I love one of a kind items. You've got a look all your own! Very cool. 😉👍❤
Hannah I love your creativity,! MORE UPCYCLES PLEASE!
I too am an old lady and you have helped me with my clothes. thanks. Loved your projects.
Yes. Please recycle more!!!! Very inspiring!!
the little red sweater looked great, this was fun, thank you !@!
I know that my brain likes the squares and triangles of quilting better than sewing clothes, but watching upcycling videos makes me feel like I can do it
You’ll never know till you try it!!
You are so adorable! As well as talented. Love your style, your confidence in your style, and your sense of humor 😄🥰
Great video! What wonderful ideas to keep all these previously loved clothing out of the landfill. I loved the skirt and the shacket! Both turned out so cute and looked great on you. I would have loved to see in more detail how you patterned the skirt and lined the shirt. It would be so helpful to others who want to recreate your look 😊
You gave me the PERFECT solution to a pair of leggings I thrifted and had to hike up over & over all day.😭 Just elasticize the back like your skirt!!! 💡moment 🤦 LOVED how you clapped and asked your pile "Who's next?" Keep up these videos plz ❤ from KS
The green skirt with the scrap linen added is very cute. You should wear the top that you used the sleeves on it would be really cute worn open with the skirt and a tank top to match!
Please do more of this, it's really inspiring me to tackle my own pile 😂❤
I love the jacket! I may have to hit my local thrift stores now!
Your embroidery is beautiful, it really was a great addition to the sweater, it was my favourite result of your whole video, well done to you for giving all these garments another lease of life.
Great job! I am looking forward to seeing your pile decrease. Because yes, we all have sewing piles!❤
Wow I love! I wish sewing was this easy for me. You really make it look so easy and pretty!
I just found you and am so thankful! My momma was an original recycler and your sewing reminds me of her.❤️. She worked at a nursing home for years and she would bring home a dress from the thrift store and remake it for a lady at the home. She was always repurposing something for someone. I found the clearance rack at our Walmart and the dresses and tops were $2! I bought between 15 and 20! I figured the fabric alone was worth more than $2! I wear an xl so I felt like I had hit the lottery! But some of the necklines bothered me so I’ve been redoing them. I can’t wait to tell my niece in Denver about your channel! She loves to recycle too!
😊 Impressive job Hannah!!!👏🏻🎉
★The white ric rack on the pink tiered skirt was so charming. ★Lovely vintage flair you added to the embroidered linen skirt. ★The cheerful orange flowers brought a sweet retro vibe to the red sweater. ★Loved the green corduroy shacket〰️the plaid lining was inspiring. 😉The men's section at the thrift store always has better quality of textiles for less dollars too.
🤍 Love Dresses ➡️ Skirts. Used to live exclusively in the former, but started to prefer the latter more. 👗Dresses simply feel too fussy & formal for lifestyle.
✂️Hack away. Have things to be upcycled, but I am NOT at your skill level. Fixed a blouse by removing the faux tank top that I hated😠, but I did 🪡sewing by hand. Liked how it turned out👍.
🤔Inherited a couple of sewing machines & a pile. No interest in becoming a master sewist. Simply want to OVERCOME my fear😟s & 🤜push ahead fixing simple things that don't work. 🎉Thx for sharing!

Green skirt was adorable!
That corduroy shirt/jacket is brilliant! What an excellent choice of lining and skillfully executed, despite your best efforts to the contrary😉…
The green skirt was my fav. 😊
This made me so happy to watch this is my sign to fix some of my things to wear. I love❤ the jacket and the flowers on your sweater what😅. So freakin cute.
Yes,please more. You are encouraging me to do the same.
Omg!! I love you Sista!! I love your approach in your videos! Very matter of fact, but a sense of humor as well!! Love your videos!! So glad I found you Dear!!! ❤️❤️❤️
You hooked me with "the pile". I have the repair pile and the thrift pile. I also have the UFO pile. Piles seem to be endemic in my life, when I worked in an office, Friday was " death to the piles" day.
Love that corduroy jacket! Good job!
Your creativity and enthusiasm are contagious! Thanks for sharing!😊
Love, love the corduroy jacket!! Love these type of videos, so inspiring! You’re so talented! Thank you for video 💕
Hahahaha the Pile! Photo bombed by Barbie in the background :)))) Great work
I love green skirt❤. I am overwhelmed with my pile of fabric that I bought at Value Village. So I am making a skirt while watching your video that I like.
I don't know why your video popped up, but I was not feeling very well today and I love thrift clothes fixes, so I watched. I think you are just delightful and I felt happy watching your video. I am a new fan.
Its sooo nice to see young people doing this! Its good for the planet also, very nice!
Well my favorite was the pink linen shirt!! The linen skirt was cute too!
Love this video. Keep doing what you are doing. So enjoyable!
Little linen skirt, really neat!!!
watching this sitting next to my pile
Love loved the corduroy and green skirt. Yes, please more upcycles
The red jumper. You did wonders. Loved this video. My pile is a whole room 😢
Thank you! Love everything, and especially the cord jacket (lined shirt)! I've wanted to add corduroy to my wardrobe but hadn't thought of how. I'm building a capsule of my youth (mostly thrifting). You gave me an awesome idea I can work with!
Love what you did to the green dress.
WOW I can relate how well an idea turns out with hurried effort. YOU make me smile with delight! You are so real and sweet down to earth funny. Will always watch for your videos. Thanks for entertainment and ideas . My kind of sew enabler.
Good job Hannah! I especially liked your long skirts! The short one is cute, too, when paired with the oversized linen shirt! Me too, 76, I still have a big pile of mending to do, sometimes, I just want to give it all to Goodwill and buy new; however, shopping for high quality and reasonable prices is not that easy either! At this point in my life, I need a Fairy God-Mother! Thanks for your tips, maybe you'll inspire me to not give up!
The red sweater turned out to be worth your time, sooooo coool❤
Your “shacket” is awesome!!!!! Wonderful idea to reuse a Corduroy shirt. Bc corduroy is a great fabric and hard to find.
Love ur humor ❤😂
Subbed as soon as I saw the Corduroy Jacket. Bask in the glory girl---you're a genius. Perfect pairing of fabrics.
Personally, where I live we have cold winters, and I'd happily sport the jacket through January and February as well.
Yes every body needs to earn up-cycling their clothes
I'm 56 and I would wear your jacket.You did a great job
I love all what you have done with the clothes great video .
Use a needle and matching thread to tighten the button hole (and re-sew all the buttons). I avoid button down skirts (and dresses), because I have ripped the lower buttons off (and button holes out) while having to step over something. I love your plaid lined coat. Bag and put that red wool sweater in the freezer (for several weeks) to kill any moth eggs still on it. Moths that eat wool can't live in the sun; so, sunning your wool items will help kill moths.
I love your Barbies! I've quite a few in my sewing room ❤
Everything is beautiful. Congratulations.
the red sweater w embroidery is so cute! bravo
you're hilarious, and I loved these upcycles. usually I kind of slightly hate watch these kinds of videos because most people absolutely butcher perfectly good clothes (yet I watch because I still learn something) but these were really good
More please! You did such a nice job! The Shacket is really great and the little embroidered flowers on the red sweater is adorable!
Yesssss! More upcycle content!!
