    Hi, i love your informative Videos. Whats about putting dark Paper over the white foam to cut it with nearly the same settings like the brown foam ?
    Other Question : what do u think about installing an Air assist system (lil bit smaller as on the K40) to get cleaner cut lines ?

    • @DIY3DTECHcom
      @DIY3DTECHcom  4 роки тому

      Many thanks! Placing a colored piece over it would not make a difference as the piece to cut needs to be the darker color to absorb the light. If your cutting wood then yes an small air assist would help...

    Have you cut 4mm foam board?

    Do laser recipes scale with laser wattage? ie. A 7.5 W laser would cut craft foam well at 6 x 8?

    what was the power?

    Hi! I been watching your videos for a while.....really good job!
    I'm thinking in buying the ortur laser but I've seen most of the ppl reviews are using the 15W. So is there a reason nobody its using the 20W?
    Is the 15W better or should I get the 20W?
    Thanks a lot!

      First off thank you! Second, its the price (15 watt verses 20) is the reason. They discount the 15 all of the time (which is why I bought mine) however have not seen the 20 discounted. Should you go 20 over 15, sort of yes but depends, if your mainly "engraving" there will not be much of a difference. However with cutting it will be a little better, however with visible light lasers as you go up you will get more burning. For example with 15 watt (which is input power) you just do an extra pass or two and the result is the same.

    Whats your power setting are you putting out on these foams. I'm not talking about what wattage your ortur is.

    Hi. I'm new to laser engraving and cutting, and trying to learn how to do it. Could you please explain your terminology ie "30/1, 40/2, etc". How does that translate to power and travel speed settings?

    • @b767greg
      @b767greg 2 роки тому +1

      I am interested in the answer to that as well! It isn't power setting as he answered a question below saying all cuts were at 100% power.

      The larger # is mm/s and the smaller # is number of passes.

    On how much %power u burn with the laser? Always on max or on a lower %.

      Pretty much as if you turn it down then you have to slow it down... So the two are linked per-say

    What the heck is 30, 40 50 and 60 ? It's not watts..Is it speed...mm/min?

      He said laser at full power. My guess is it's his speeds at mm/s.

    It might be worthwhile scuffing the white foam with some sandpaper to take away some of its shine..

    so I guess to cut 1ft thick white foam you need 5000WAtts laser not 5watts.
