Use a jig to position the work-pieces. Then you avoid the tedium of using the laser to determine position for each piece. Remember to square the jig to the laser path.
Looks good I just received an Ortur laser yesterday, can’t wait to get her set up and running. Thanks for the run through!
Try using a tool layer. Set it to the size of your material, and then you can design inside the 'boundaries' so to speak. Also, please wear the safety glasses. Blindness is permanent and can happen without warning. Enjoy your laser.
Thanks Zoe, we miss you guys a lot. Thanks for the video. Merry Christmas to you guys and Happy New Years.
I just got a new diode laser, and I'm learning Lightburn and Inkscape software, too. They're fun and add a new dimension to your projects. Enjoyed the video!
One thing you can do is measure the piece of stock you are working with then recreate it in light burn with the square tool. You can then set that square to be a frame instead of a cutting layer. That way you can line up your text easily without worrying about it engraving off the edge of your work space. You then can click Shift and frame to have the laser frame where your work area will be. line up your wood withing that frame and you are good to go !
Adding a camera to Lightburn is a gamechanger. You can see your materials position in Lightburn. Allot easier lining up projects. Also I would buy or 3d print a Z axis adjuster so you can raise & lower your laser so you dont have to stack materials to adjust focus. Also get some sort of air assist to get rid of smoke & debris, to not interfere with the lasers strength when engraving or cutting.
merry christmas trey and zoe. i love all yours and treys videos. keep up the good work.
I totally love the resins work you do with timber it’s fantastic

Check out the Frame button in lightburn. If you hold down the Shift key and hit either the circle frame or square frame buttons, the Laser will come on and frame the borders of your project. The location button also works well. Enjoy the laser!
Thanks! I showed her the frame button after we were done making the video. This was her first time using the laser.
@@TripleLRusticDesigns great job!
If her first time why is she making a video for others to watch. Would expect some experience first. Sorry but this is how others learn bad technique.
@@potstech At least she tried cut her a break. Most of us learn by just doing it.
@@potstech I didn't watch as a tutorial I watched as an update on what's new at the rustic. It's nice to see that it isn't too difficult for the first run.
Good video. I was considering buying this same unit thanks for your help.
am use to see bigger laser but for steel at my shop ,but this is really cool, loving this
If you hold Shift while clicking Frame it will move in a rectangle around the text with the laser firing so with one click it will show all the sides.
You should really be wearing protective glasses. Also, you can check the extents of the image by holding down the shift keypad and pressing the framing button.
Great job Zoe Merry Christmas and a happy New year to you from the UK cu in the next video ♥️
How well have you guys liked using your shapeoko? Looking at getting one soon.
@Jeffrey fish hey that's awesome, just ordered the new pro yesterday.
@@HiddenHeightsFarm You'll really enjoy it - a bit of a learning curve, but it gets easier.
And this video shows the hard way to do everything.
What do you mean ?
Yep been awhile . cool machine o and merry Christmas 🎄
That's a really cool machine!
For focusing the aluminum rod should go under the black housing of the laser, not under the lens. The old non-pro version of the LM 2 did focus under the lens, but not this one.
Me encanta , excelente trabajo , sigan a si ,saludos
thanks for the tutorial. I don't know lightburn, but I would guess you could just add on empty space and play around with the fontsize of that to get the desired spacing.
You can use a jig or make a rectangle with the same measurements as the cedar in lightburn (make sure to pick different color for the rectangle). Add your text or image inside of that rectangle and align it how you want (I prefer to use the centering tools in lightburn), then check with framing, make sure the frame fits the cedar and if it does uncheck the output of the rectangle in lightburn and there ya go.
Merry Christmas to you and your family
Probably my favorite machine in my shop
Great Job looks very nice .
Merry Christmas, CNCs are amazing. We all learn something new. My favorite Vectric tutorials are: Mark Lindsay, Michael Mezalick, and SpindleTV. Worth checking out. Thanks for the great content.
How I position for my Ortur is the draw a box and size it to the piece of wood. Do my text or whatever then center it into the box. Then group them together and have laser draw border with laser on low power. Set piece into that box and you are perfectly centered. Have a great day!
Thank you for such a nice explanation as your person
Ciao Zoe. È un piacere vederti. Complimenti per il tuo progetto
Perfect Zoe
What a fun toy! I'm jealous...
Good Sunday afternoon to you all in the USA from Wellington Somerset in the UK
Nice work, Merry Xmas
Framing is your friend, much easier to see where your print will be on the material
I've always thought that I could watch you read the telephone book for 20 minutes and love every minute of it. This was almost as bad. There are several techniques that you can use to make the project easier. Also, PLEASE put on safety glasses in the future. That shield is nowhere near enough
I have a question maybe you can answer I have the ORTUR laser master 2 & ORTUR laser master 3 I recently just ordered the 20 W laser head kit for my. ORTUR laser master 3 but I want to move the laserhead from the ORTUR laser master 3 over to my ORTUR laser master 2 I just need to know do I need any extra pieces? Can I just move the power supply over and switch it out or do I need a driver board? Please let me know. Thank you.
grate job
Merry Christmas ☃️🎄
Goodmorning Zoe, looks like you have a great tool there. The programing reminds me of the years I programed and ran an abrasive waterjet in a machine job-shop. If I could make a suggestion that might save you time and effort, try drawing the outline of your workpiece first, then, your interior will already be positioned.
Hiii there 🙏🤝🤝
I'm thinking the same thing as you, it's frustrating to watch someone struggle like that. Oh well we all have to start somewhere.
Very nice video and nice that you did not wear your spandex thanks for keeping it clean
Harikaa Zoe bu arada sende harikasınnnnn
How do you make the tags? Off cuts?
Muy interesante su video como todo lo que nos muestra. Que Dios la bendiga a usted y su equipo en esta navidad y el próximo 2022.
hello everyone, please advise, I have a broken board, what kind of board can I put there?
Très joli travail bravo à bientôt salut Jeannot 😉🛠
Thats so cool 😎 xxxxx
Really Great Job on Video , I am considering this machine as I make Concrete Statue molds and statues which I would like to Engrave. .
That was cool to watch. Something I will never have in my shop, so it was cool to watch you using it and the final product. How do you keep the writing even with the top/bottom of the wood piece (not appearing to print uphill)?
Have to get more low angle yoga pants shots for the UA-cam likes to make this seem like a helpful video.

I'm in the marker for a laser. Which machines did yall consider before choosing this particular one? And what's yalls thoughts on it
very nice
Very cool. I would like to see if you can download/copy pictures and burn tge image.
I prefer old English or black text for Christmas projects....just a thought.
This is probably the most misinformed review of the OLM2 Pro ever, the focus adjustment section was so wrong it was cringemaking, the focus guide is placed between the alloy body of the laser module and the workpiece, not under the lens. by my estimation she was out of focus by possibly 12-15mm. And focusing by stacking the workpiece's C'mon!! Safety glass's and safety features, forget it. WAtch other real educated reviews on U-Tube, theres plenty of them. I am a OLM2 Pro owner, bought with my hard earned cash and watching this was hard.
I have some videos up that she could watch.
Greetings from Madrid Spain.....!!! 👍👍♥♥🤣🤣
Nice
How long is the deep gage?
Neat!
Good job Zoe. Take care and have a blessed day and I'll see you on your next video.
I didn't see a link for the Orturi!
I love you Zoe
That's pretty nice.
Yesss sir
Brilliant video as always, Zoe! Keep these useful videos coming, plz👍👍👍
Hi their , sorry to state this but you are using lightburn and the laser unit the wrong way , would be better that you place the wood item down (one piece at a time not stake up) and then adjusted the laser height using the tool that it touchs the laser head and the wood price ( no gaps) this would allow a better focus cut or engrave , also you can make a box around the text that measure the size of you art work , but only use it to guild the area ( turn the feature to cut on off , setting are on the right side in lB where you adust power and speed) hope this help for updated videos , keep up the good work and video coming :)
Mahogany wood sheets or American Cedar is a bit oxidized . Fast and nice work. Thank you and however I wish you nice Christmas to family
Hermosa
good morning zoe have missed your videos
How many watts this machine?
Does Zoe lisp?
Good morning to all from SE Louisiana 12 Dec 21.
*GOOD NIGHT SIR* 😊🙏🇮🇩
Are you sure that's how you focus? I thought you put the it just to the side before you bring it down
If you would use the scale around the perimeter you would not be positioning the text off your project. That scale is in metric. It’s easy to convert to SAE measurements. If the cedar dimensions are know then you simply have to position it and boom…. Production etching.
glad to see you Zoe , hows Trey ? when are you getting your wood kiln ? i was starting to think you guys dumped me ..lol
Can it engrave stone? Brick? Rock?
Nice 😇😇😇
I'm reading the comments here. I've gotta say that I think they know how to be safe and I don't need to push my views on others. I think she did a great job as a first time user and to be honest, the very fact that she didn't "Focus Properly" impressed me even more with the outcome!
Did you cringe viewers even think of that?
I just ordered a Longmill the other day with a laser. Too bad she didn't have the laser installed on her CNC machine. I would have loved to see that.
Some of the comments I've seen bring up a great point, and I think you're missing the intention possibly. As a UA-cam presenter, there's almost a social responsibility when using tools such as this to follow good practices so that others learn from them. The comments regarding safety glasses are important...while the laser shield is meant to be a first defense, like any safety device wearing proper eye protection is imperative. Her putting them on helps teach others that are getting into Diode lasers 'hey I should be using safety glasses'. Also those comments expressed (rightfully) concern about Zoe's eyesight. I'd go one further and mention that a good venting system is another good thing to mention.
That all being said, I was eyeing the Shapoko myself and wondering if a laser attachment to that would be handy. I liked the video though as it taught me some cool tricks for my own lightburn work on the diode laser I just got
@@geektoolkit
There's already too many social responsibilities. That's what gets people fired from their jobs for nothing. I'm pretty sure her husband told her to put on glasses afterwards. It's not our job! No she was beating a child, stabbing somebody making a bad example for the rest of the society I would say yes say something but she's just making a freaking video come on man
@@geektoolkit Exactly. This is presented like a tutorial so you should at least know the correct way to do the things you're teaching.
@@iwannaapple7190 That's called a strawman defense, and is a logical fallacy, followed by an assumption with no data (her husband told her..really?). Other people and thier jobs has nothing to do with a person using proper safety equipment. She, and everyone else, should wear safety equipment when operating devices such as this. period.
what is the dimensions of the laser Bed ??????????????????? it look's like 2'x2' ??????
Can you cut .030” thick copper sheet?
It w won't cut any metal as far as I know. It won't even engrave metal without some tinkering.
Neat
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Zoe, I am glad to see you in somthing other than log splitting videos in Leu Leu Lemon yoga pants. Keep it up, this stuff.
Beautiful 🙂
Have you tried to cut shapes with it yet?
Superb work :) 😀
You really should be wearing your protective glasses even when it's not cutting.
That’s pretty awesome! Great video! Love the channel 💥💥
Very good introduction to laser etching Zoe thanks
What a set of honkers!
What happened to FIREWOOD SPLITTING FRIDAYS?
Trying to keep up with it. Our full time jobs are very busy
*WOODWORKER WOMEN* 😍😍😍😍🙏👍
Nice job, Zoe.
👍👍
Like how u guys were tight cloths to get views amazing 👏
Where do they sell the depth gauge? Or can you advise the length of it? Thanks awesome work
It comes with the laser. But the focus was wrong in the video. Should be measured between the aluminum assembly surrounding the laser and the surface.
I may have picked a cursive font for a Christmas print but that’s just me
Zoe I love you
hi dear.
hope ur fine,
nice and informative vidoe.
i am also new in Laser cutting projects
using Lightburn software.
do u have any group for discussing and issue.
kindly update.
thanks.
You are using the depth gauge incorrectly. Read the manual again. It does not go under the laser diode. It goes under the housing
