Hey man, I see 2 problems with the build: 1) Because you do not sort ores before smelting, there is a slight possibility to clog the system with nickel ingots and you won't be getting any copper out of it. 2) By forcing crushed ore recipe when you're low on copper, you are decreasing the prodcution rate, because smelting washed ore gives 2 ingots and crushed only gives 1.5 ingots. So I think it would be better to switch to crushed ore when youre full on nickel (or like 90% full), which would also eliminate the issue mentioned above
Personally, i don't remember any instance of running out of primary ore due to an excess of the secondary output. I kind of had the opposite problem. Getting lead while not researching was hard due to low tin use in my mall. Probably the big buffers in my train base were enough to normalize the secondary ores while i researched uses for them.
Big buffers certainly help. There’s only so much space in a single chest. This is a great application for warehouses, but I’m trying to keep extra mods to a minimum for this playthrough
I don’t know, probably not, I’ve been really busy with work and haven’t been able to upload as frequently. I do plan on a vanilla space age play through, unless another mod pack such as Py is switched over to space age by that time.
Ultimately you'll need a LOT more copper than nickel, just as with te rest of recipes, its optimal to always use the heated water recipe, and void the excess byproduct metal
@@marsh8056 yeah, also worth to point out that once you are doing science with all the packs, the use rate of nickel and the other secondary ores is between the low and high temperature recpies. So it will just alternate between them.
Why is it always heated? Both recipes give the same copper output anyway. It's just more or less nickel. But yeah, if you really want to have an entire separate production of copper it's still optimal to wash it and delete the nickel some way. Maybe in a producer - recycler loop?
@@AbsoluteHuman It's far easier to alternate between the hot and cold recipe. The mod is balanced so when doing research you need more of the secondary ores that the cold recipe creates, but less than the hot one. So if you automate switching water temperature you never get clogs (while researching) The original message probably doesn't know that and is using the optional item well that let's you trash anything. But you really don't need them with the current mod balance.
The circuit logic is super cool, and well explained
Love the series Marsh! Will watch it all. Thank you for your time ☺️

I’m okay with the production rate decreasing with crushed ore, but the numbers do need to be tweaked a little
Awesome factory, I just finished my IR Run a few days ago, and is so wild to see other ppls build for things. good luck.

should the bypass for copper be if nickel is too high instead of copper low?
It could work either way, but checking both is probably ideal
Do you think that you will finish IR3 before October? :D
Are you going to do a space age vanilla play-through?

I have the void turned off, so all materials must be used

@@Niyucuatro not arguing with that!
