    So profound. Drives me crazy when people say just do what makes you happy. Thank you for explaining something I could not articulate myself. Your videos are each a gift in and of themselves. Wisdom I needed to hear this very day. A gem in every message to press to my heart and make it sparkle. Woo hoo. I also love the expression from another video of yours that ‘The heart is the wisdom transmitter’.

    This video has been incredibly helpful to see deeper into my perpetual confusion. All the conflicting advice, and swimming in a culture saturated in confusion and quick fixes...most of it is still the superficial approach, treating symptoms with a band-aid, always snapping back into the same misery that was actually never dealt with in the first place. Thank you Jason. The clarity of insights you share resonate deeply.

    This told me something I already knew but had forgotten: pain felt transforms into it's opposite (or at least isnt really painful at all). Any time I can really feel what I have to feel and not mask it with something, it transforms into happiness. Even something as simple as stubbing your toe is not really painful if you go deeply into the feeling...it is just a numb feeling. It is the resistance to it that creates the pain. Addictive behaviors are quick fixes to put a band-aid over this pain but just make it worse. Maybe the emotional pain is simply resistance and when it is felt you return to your natural state which is one of love. Picture stubbing your toe and immediately freaking out and saying "ow ow ow!" and the relation of that to what you do when you start to feel the slightest bit uncomfortable emotionally. But if we are conscious enough to just feel it things are fine.

    Thank you for this important wisdom here, and thank you so very much for all of these videos. It's been so greatly inspiring to me along my own path. You are quite the gem Jason! I have such respect for all you do, and I love your music as well. I have been listing to the mantras so very much. My 2 favorites are the Divine Love, and the Chamonda mantras. The messages that comes with the Divine Love mantra really speak to me. I have been listing to it almost daily lately. Keep up all the greatness that is being you. So very thankful to take all of this in. It makes me want to try and stay around in this big ol' world. As you said in another wonderful video, I wouldn't have incarnated into this life if I wasn't meant to be here.

    Hi Jason. I really enjoyed your video and the perspective you presented. Based on my 25 years of observation, I believe that we, human-beings, are constantly undergoing a battle within ourselves. I see the human mind as a divide between logic and emotion, thus making us very paradoxical creatures. Although, I do believe that we have the power within us to improve the balance between our two psychological extremes, creating harmony and peace in our lives.
    Personally, in the last couple of years, I have been finally spending time addressing all of my built-up psychological struggles that I previously had been blinded from through distracting myself with hard work and no sleep. Emotionally, I feel like I have been on a roller coaster, but, my optimistic, rational side has been pulling me through these changes. A few months ago, I did even experience a minor existential crisis, triggered from researching our planet's climate change, politics, and all of the damage we cause to the earth.
    In a sense, I know deep down that every struggle brings wisdom, which I have always appreciated. Yet, today, I find myself with everything I could ask for: a job that allows me to travel, a loving relationship, financial security, etc., but I still don't feel fulfilled. I have always been an over achiever and I know that I have great potential, and I receive great joy from helping others. I am also someone that despises complacency and I can't stand to spend an entire day in my apartment alone. I think deep down I am a runner. Although I have come a far way, I still want more, and it is overwhelming knowing that I can do anything I desire. I have been tossing around the idea of quitting my job as a flight attendant, and to go just volunteer abroad, but I wonder if while I were there, after the initial distraction of a new thing wore off, would I still be unsatisfied?
    Any comments whenever you have a moment would be appreciated. I am not looking for answers, just connection with another human-being that may have some insight.
    Thank you.

    I have found this video to be great; it has added to my perspective of life. I'm 17 and I believe I'm at the age when people overthink what they want to pursue in the future, and then worry if they've made any barriers to that. I'm certainly in this situation now, I need to do more self-awareness (e.g. meditation) to see where the issue lies, and if there's a solution; I've also been affected by a heartbreak, so this has potentially affected this feeling as well. I'm just learning from all this, I'm young of course; I think I'm getting a perspective on life early - I'm fortunate to go through this feeling. Thank you very much, browsing on the internet sometimes does find a solution (or at least, help); everything to me is an adaptation and determination.

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  5 років тому +1

      Very true. :) Time heals all, my friend. One must also surrender to time and life itself in the process. IF I can tell you anything, life runs things, not the mind. :) In the end you're forced to surrender anyway, so let the feelings happen now. Yes, there is pain, sometimes so much you feel as if you'll die from it, but just know that no matter how hard it gets, if you let go of your stories attached to the pain, some really wonderful stuff happens. Blessings.

    all these things should be taught us from childhood on and be implemented into the school system. a lot of pain and suffering could be avoided.
    I do find this video helpful. but I am afraid that the older you are, the more decisions you have already made from a point of suffering and not from happiness. thus creating a life of suffering.
    of course one might say: you can always change the situation. but if we're completely honest, it's really not that easy.
    once you followed a careerpath it isn't that easy to just change it.
    once you have children you have to take care of them.
    once you have a relationship/marriage you are in this kind of bond.
    yes, all of these things might be changed. but not that easily.
    also once you are in a situation of suffering it really isn't that easy to get a clear thought on what you want instead and change things.

    This resonated with me a lot. I am in this confusion state. I don't know what I am supposed to be doing. I think of many ideas of things i could do, paths I could take but don't know which is right. I get overwhelmed with the choices. I then get scared of making the wrong decision. How long should I sit waiting for the answer to arise? what if i need to take action for example because I need to find a job quickly? but at the same time I find something that my heart wants to? what If i don't have time to sit and wait for the pain to arise and joy to surface? I simply have to make a decision. This is what usually happens making decisions for survival but not finding the truth or what the heart wishes to express?

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  7 років тому

      Survival first. Just take everything one moment at a time. Don't get too ahead of yourself. From there, you can evolve the expression. :)

    • @ClareFoxx
      @ClareFoxx 7 років тому

      Thank you for the reply. Survival first is that not equal to making decisions out of fear? I took some actions recently in this direction and it didn't work out. I am back at the start again. So do I continue taking actions on things I don't resonate with and then just watch how they unfold until something changes?

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  7 років тому +1

      Survival and fear are NOT the same thing. Trying to survive ten years from now, and OVER compensating in this moment would be in alignment with fear in some cases though. I cannot micromanage this process through texting, but in general, take care of survival. Clean up your emotional suffering around it, by sitting with your suffering around it, meditating etc. In time, wisdom will emerge in the form of greater freedom and movement of happiness.

    What if we are aware of what makes us unhappy, but it has nothing to do with what we are confused about?

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  9 років тому +1

      ThereskaJanee if you are confused, then you are suffering about the decision you have to make, aren't you? Otherwise you wouldn't be worried about the answer. The need for an answer comes from many things, need is a subtle sort of suffering. It says that when I have the answer, I will happier than I am without the answer. This is a condition put on your happiness. Allow yourself to sit in the not knowing the answer--be okay with it, and in time, happiness will emerge and move. I hope this helps. It is difficult to answer these sort of questions without the context. :)

    • @ThereskaJanee
      @ThereskaJanee 9 років тому

      I appreciate your answer very much. Regardless of this banality that I have to decide upon right now, I find your response and your video very useful. I can apply it and refer back to it whenever anything else will show up. What I am unsure about right now is clearly a banality and not even a big question in life or a major decision to make. What I am trying to decide upon is whether to take a certain course at my college or the other college based on ratings. However, the second one is more time consuming and will affect my scholarship award. Truly a banality, yet I have to act fast. I recognized a different kind of pain which had nothing to do with this, but with that one I am actually fine with :), just like you explained in the video. This school stuff is certainly bothering my mind now. I don't know what exactly to do. And I only have a weekend to decide. It is a banality, but you know, I think that I'll just give a shot to the one that I am leaning 51% towards as opposed to those 49% towards the other school, haha, and see what happens. I cannot know unless it happens, and I should just take it as it comes and not worry about it :). Either way it will be done, and I'll just have to work hard no matter where I take the course.
      I think that I am slowly coming to peace with this.
      Thank you so much for letting me vent here and contacting me! I feel like talking it out made me a little clearer about the solution and that is less frustrating.
      Thank you!

    • @JasonJGallant
      @JasonJGallant  9 років тому +1

      So glad it helped. The truth is there is no wrong decisions. You can only make the best decision you can in this moment. The suffering comes from believing that there is DEFINITELY a right and wrong decision. Forgive yourself, be easier on your self, and let life reveal the adventure that it wishes, rather than you telling it what to do. lol. Good luck and blessings to you!

    How long should we sit with the pain? I've been doing spiritual practices like vipassana meditation and it brought out more pain with little relief. I only got brief glimpses of the other side of that pain. Right now I'm experiencing depression and confusion and I've sat with it for awhile. But I seem to be spinning my wheels in futility without reaching the other side of that pain

      Try some pranayama. That assists the process. Either way, the shadows can take some time to pass. In the end you are not them. The realization of that is where the freedom is found

    You said, 'do when happy' and not do something that makes one happy. So my query Is - When in pain, should one make decisions or not?

      manu02scorpio if the pain is physical--like being on fire, definitely make a decision. But if you're constructing your life purely from emotional suffering, then your life will always be about the avoidance of that. At first a blend of suffering and happiness make up the majority of your decisions, but the goal is to find unconditional happiness inside yourself, and then all decisions will come from the movement of happiness and joy--or the integration of that space in your life. Whatever experience you have inside, you will always seek to match your life to that. So the goal is to take care of your inner experience, then all emanations will come from that.
