How To Install & Wire TRD Pro Grille LED Lights (Raptor) - 2016+ Toyota Tacoma 3rd Gen w/ Add-a-fuse

- Today I'm running you through how to install LED Lights, or Raptor Style lights on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD OFF Road, the same process is true for all 2016-2020, 3rd Gen Tacomas with the TRD PRO Grilles. I went with a Add-a-fuse for the installation, which I had to purchase separately from a local auto parts store.

Thank you sir for actually showing how you wired up the lights and not skipping that part. I had a few ideas myself but i like the add a fuse method a lot more than tying into the headligths.

Thank you so much for this!! My instructions from CaliRaisedLED had me putting it into the wrong fuse. Which would keep showing the check engine light. Well done sir! It’s all complete now on my 2022 Tacoma TRD Pro Electric Lime in the 6-speed manual 😎

Does have to be a specific Ring Terminal for the ground ?
What location did you use for the add a fuse? I don't want to use the INJ location but would like the raptor lights to say on when the truck is started.

Same, used an add a fuse with 2 10amp fuses.

I'm curious is to why you just didn't connect the new ground terminal to the actual negative fender connection ,of which the battery neg. terminal is part of.

Which lever or button is used to turn on these lights?
The headlight switch, since he has them wired into the headlight fuse. They can’t be switched on by themselves. They can be wired that way; but it’s not how he did it here.

Where did u get the splicing cable that goes to the fuse box ?
You can get them at most parts stores. Just make sure they are the mini fuse type.

Do these run with the daytime running lights or just the headlights?
depending on where you place the add-a-fuse, it could be whichever one you decide. Just need to place it in the appropriate spot in the fuse box
I noticed you were running a 25 amp fuse with the 10 amp. Any issues? Mine came with a 15 amp and I was wondering if that would cause any issues.
Mine came out with 15amp as well but I’ve heard you are supposed to use a smaller number on top like a 5 amp and the fuse you took off you put it on the bottom of the add a fuse.
What did you use?
@@beptex2858 You can use that 15a, it should be fine. I put a 10a in mine.

Honestly i add them for extra visibility so other drivers can see my truck clearly at night especially on the highway.
What could you tap into that would would keep the LED's on all the time even when the headlights are off?
@@aaronS795 use a different fuse, use a volt meter to check which fuse draws power once the vehicle is on. This is make it so if the car is on the lights will be on regardless of the headlights.
@정재이 Because its a nicer looking grille "dommy". What do you think TRD is fairy dust!? it's just a series of add ons to a stock Tacoma so the stealership can upsell to suckers like you.
