Someone needs to make a modular multi tool, like have a couple base platforms, then design it so one could buy various components that could be swapped out on the base tool.
On the Armbar Drive Slim which I own, similar to your Slim Cut, there is a bit of retention on the driver (maybe this is unlike the Armbar Drive full size). But I am happy with it as it is a tool for in a pinch. When a screw is threaded, it does not nees downward pressing force because it pulls itself in. Now this comes down to what you use it for. Small domestic stuff is great, hard-core handy work... nobody should be grabbing one of these in the first place.
Looking at this, because of locking blade, to replace Victorinox Huntsman as field knife. Thanks for the information. I EDC an Armbar slim drive and am very happy with in.
At the price I'm going to try one. I still like Gerber even though they've had their ups and downs. I had a problem with one of my folders a few years ago, and they stepped up immediately.
There warranty is good for sure! because I have a old small serrated pocket knife thats probably 11 years old and they discontinued that model with a broken tip and I took pics and sent it to gerber with the broken tip and they gave me a credit for a new one and I got to also keep the old knife.
If it came with a locking blade, locking 1/4" bit driver, locking scissors, and a locking t-shank saw, I would pick one up in a heartbeat. The design is smart, but it's lacking critical important features.
In general I think multi tools are are a meh solution to any problem. I've owned several over the decades, I laugh when I see someone use a "mini" multi tool. Seems like they normally make a task harder.
Agree with you on the Armbar Drive/Slim Drive. In fact if the locks were the other way around, i.e. the lock on the driver, and the blade non-locking, I'd probably have bought one already since I'm in the UK and our stupid legislation outlaws carrying locking blades without valid reason. As to the Armbar Scout, not a bad idea but for me my Victorinox Farmer X (93mm alox with scissors & wood saw) offers everything this does and more, in better quality, and has a certain pedigree as it's really the knife which Swiss Soldiers (okay conscripts) were issued for the best part of half a century, plus the excellent scissors and saw.
Please use a lighter table cover for better detail reveal. A cover, sheet, cloth will be a lot less expensive and less time consuming than reconfiguring lighting and camera angles. Thanx👍🏼
Gerber used to make really nice products. I haven't looked one up forever. Just did and it appears their new model of marketing is aimed towards older people that think they still make good products and won't be using them much. Kershaw went down that path but is seemingly waking up. Two ex great, near top tier brands at one point
Great information. Consider using a lighter surface and wearing a lighter colored shirt when showing a black tool. I am somewhat drawn to that Scout...
Yeah, Gerber hasn't made a good tool since the Gerber Multi-Plier 600 Bluntnose. Swapped the can opener with a fiskers-scissors put a 6 penny nail in the jaws on the floor and stomped on it and it snapped the nail. 20 years ago, and I still have that tool and works great! New Gerber is trash in hand.
The only tool Gerber made that I like is a box opener. I have a couple but their multi-tools have all be trash. I broke and twisted several tools. They will not get any of my money.
I personally haven't been liking thr smaller multi-tools. I stick with the full size like mp600 and so on. Those tools i really like and own. They have some good pocket knives. But for some reason, those small multi-tools are a no-go for me. Always a good concept! But nvr executed correctly
Hahahahahahahaha! Gold! 🤣 I love how you spelled the word period as if to say that’s the END OF DISCUSSION! Lol. Thank you sir, I really needed that laugh
@@ChrispyThings I was stating a fact ,I wasn’t being a smart @$$ like you are.I can’t help it if you can’t take criticism or truth.Sorry if I hurt your feelings princess.
Constructive criticism: Don’t use a dark background like your stained table. You can hardly see the tools because everything looks black and dark.
I changed that table months ago. But yes you’re right
Suggestion, use a light colored mat or table cover, it makes seeing the knives easier.
I started UA-cam with a white desk. Then a light brown desk. And now a dark wooden desk.
I’m changing to a lighter grey soon. This desk is too dark

goat tool is just that

After watching your full video, I would highly recommend you try the Armbar Drive Slim as it does have some sort of minor retention.
Do they publish what steel the blade is made from and what the hardness is?
Can the pioneer x be included in the arm bar category?
I have an old Gerber multiplier from last century. I would likely carry it if I did not have a dozen Leathermen.
They could have put an eyelet on the can opener to be utilized as a threading awl.
Great kit, I'm in the process of building a similar one. The sharpener for shavings is a great idea 💡
What do you think of that exceed designs utility knife?
couldn't you turn on the light?😀🙃
On sale at Sportsmans Warehouse for under 30$

I own two Slim drives and the bit driver locks in place way better and stronger than on my Armbar.
Turn on the lights sir.

Multitools have their place, but very few do what they do well. Me Leatherman Charge is a beast
The Surge is certainly capable of saving your ass.
I personally think victornox makes the best multi tools because they have good quality control
Victorinox SAK is probably best for this type of format, quality at a reasonable price.

Leatherman dreams on a Gerber budget😂 Equals disappoint.😢

Cant even see the tool

It would be nice if i didnt wear black in a dark room reviewing a black tool :)
This is a tactical video.😂
I know why you like it now
Bigger and have the same price as a real quality Swiss Army knife, ... With less functionalities, ...
Ozark trail multiforce mod is better
MID

You’re correct. They need to go back and rethink some of these.
I have two multi tools from Gerber built in the USA and they are as good as any leatherman or any other company period.
