I don’t think it’s accurate to say if you shop at Harbor Freight you know what you’re doing. As someone that shops there for a tool on occasion, I don’t know. I’m just trying to find a tool I can afford. It’s usually something cheaper that doesn’t last as long but that’s ok because it’s something that you’re only going to use a few times. Also that curved tip really fits the hand 😂
The little Braun light came out something like four years ago or thereabouts, and I bought one for everyone in my family as an extra light to have around, in the car, etc. Bought a couple for myself too. To my surprise, everyone of those lights is still working and everybody talks about how handy it is (these are not EDCers into spendy lights). So it may just be okay for the money, but they've been surprisingly long-lived in my little focus group.
Say what you will, but I think it is fair to say that some of these pieces also highlight the upcharging of many EDC companies. They target a specific market, feed off FOMO and upcharge significantly.
The idea that anyone owns a knife design is hilarious. :-) I'll be happy to buy the Icon drop point knife when it's on sale or I have a coupon for it. :-D :-D :-D
Love the vid. Only thing I’d disagree with is that coast is a cheap flashlight. Many tool trucks I buy from sell coast and streamlight. Both great. Coast usually a little Cheaper in price and their warranty is just hand the truck a new one and they give u a new one. Streamlight gets sent off. Frustrating. Then they fix it. I switched to coast over steam light. Highly recommend
I do know this is for Harbor Freight findings, just offering insight on it: For the Icon Bit kit, they have one with sockets coming out soon. it's the same manufacturer that makes the Facom and Craftsman version, but $60 cheaper. The Wiha set is $30 and one that's comparible in price for what you get. But the Wiha ratchet is doesn't have the option of extending the handle. that's the biggest upside of the Icon. Tone has one on Amazon for similar price at $40. The bit quality isn't bad. I swapped out bits I never use, in favor of my Wiha and Wera bits. So now I can carry that kit everywhere.
I have that Gordon utility knife, I’ve used it every day at work for the last few months and I’m super happy with it. The pivot wore in very nicely after about a week and it can be flicked open easily, also I really like the way they lock the blade in. I often go through at least a blade a day so being able to quickly change the blade is nice.
As a metal fabricator I’ve been carrying the Braun light everyday for over a year. They’re cheap enough as is yet they’re under a 90 day warranty if they crap out or if you run them through the washing machine
The Icon IK24 knife is without a doubt the best $40 folder I’ve ever had. I always carry multiple knives for specific reasons like mostly Kershaw or CRKT main knives with a couple purpose driven ones and I’m amazed to say that this knife has made the main blade in my EDC. It’s even became the main blade of three of my coworkers. I’ve gotta say it’s the best cheap knife I’ve ever bought. If anyone has any recommendations for a utility knife I’m open to suggestions. I prefer folders without a retractable blade. A quick release is preferred. On the flashlight section I would recommend that people on a budget went with any Kodiak light or a Klein Tools inspection light. I have several Coast lights and lanterns and their brightness levels leave a lot to be desired

Harbor Freight has a lot of quality products and I’m tired of acting like they don’t. If anything I’m happy these budget brands are finally forcing these large manufacturers to chill out on their ridiculous prices.
Hey, Did you know their are Washers on the Gordon multitool. They're on either side of the outside tools and the pliers. Imo that gives a slight edge over the wave.
I never realized as a lefty that i do this, but my left side knives are always tip down carry (opening away) and my right side SAK is always tip up (opening away as well). I guess its just instinct, but hearing it said out loud made me realize that not everyone would think of that.
Found the Icon Knife at my local store today (last one on the hook). Knife is as good as you detailed. This might go in everyone's Christmas bag this year.
I’ve had the Gordon button lock knife and it has accidentally opened up in my pocket before. My Milwaukee fast back has never done that, and I carry it 5 days a week for work and use it multiple times a day.
Those magnetic Braun swivel lights are AMAZING at Harbor Freight. GREAT LENS on them that perfectly casts a wide beam and are silly bright with good CRI. I have all the color options. They're easily my favorite. As for HOOK BLADES, Lowe's carries IRWIN branded ones, since some mor on bought them thinking they were normal utility blades. So... Stuck with a bunch of HOOK blades.
Do you know most of the icon tools have a lifetime warranty so that issue you’re having with the icon mini ratchet in the set just bring it in and I’ll give you a new ratchet from a different set
Not really EDC but the Icon and Braun folding work lights are pretty awesome. The Braun takes an 18650 and is easily swapped out. The Icon requires disassembly but I find the battery that it comes with actually performs quite well. They both have their strengths, but I tend to use the Icon more. Can’t recommend these enough, especially when they are on sale/coupon. I got a Doyle utility knife for free a couple weekends ago with a promotion and it seems pretty solid. It’s big and doesn’t fold so it’s not something that I’d carry but it’s great for a utility drawer. Comes with 5 blades that store in the handle. Those silicone trays are awesome. I have the two you show plus the large one. They all nest together but I find them fantastic for assembly/disassembly for stuff around the house and in the garage. The Icon flex head ratchet/bit set is awesome. I use it in the garage and the house all the time. The case is really nice and the bits holding up well. They are machined well and fit the fasteners well. It might be my favorite and most used tool from HF. I do like the Doyle pliers that are Cobra knock offs. They’re not as good as the real Knipex ones but I’ve had some good use with it. Well worth the price of admission. Icon pliers are good too. I really like the needle nose especially. I picked up a few of the Icon ratchets from the last parking lot sale. Only used one a couple of times but it seems nice. They were all 40% off so I think they were a good deal.
I beleive the style for the wave is up for grabs as in no longer a leatherman specific most multi tools on Amazon and such are the same, same thing with the ozar trail one from walmart
Harbor Freight tips: 1) Buy more expensive items when they are 15-20% off. 2)Always check the website for availability. Saves on drive time. 3)If the website says that it's available, and it's not on the sales floor, ask an associate to check the stock in the back.

I also had some non exclusions coupons so I got it for $30, ditto for the Icon drop point and what I call the Ikea furniture assembly kit... and I think it pairs well with the cyclopse head 1/4 drive, flex head and a swivel head makes for a nice combo. The Icon blade is pretty nice but the Gordon needed a lot of help on the sharpness out of the case.
I bought the icon drop point before knowing anything about begg. yes their premium knives are made in the USA but the steel series isn't so that's just the cost of doing business in China. the Leatherman knockoff good on them Leatherman used to be affordable they have gotten away from that so I don't care about them being cloned.

Seeing the Blue silicone flexible parts (valet) tray in the opener reminded me - At Harbor Freight, buying all three sizes would total about $42 at the time of this post (without coupons or sale). Anyone in the Midwest may already know that Menards has all three in a combined set of all three sizes for less than $20. I got a couple extra sets a couple weeks ago while they were on sale for under $14 each set to give away. Of course, you'd have to like them in the Menards dark green color. 😜. Love the channel though, so let's do the dang thing. Edit - just checked the price - currently sale price at $13.99 before their 11% rebate.
Thanks for the tip! I bought the blue trays after I saw this video then I saw your comment and had to go get the Menards version for the big tray. Now I've got a couple spares! Such a great price for all three.

So the day I saw another person review the Gordon multi tool I went to Harbor freight on my way home after I got off from work. It took them a few minutes to find it. As it turns out I was standing on the knife aisle when I found someone and asked them about the multi tool. And while I was standing there waiting for them to come back with the multitool I saw that same knife and also bought it at the same time. But I didn’t put make the connection you did to the beg knife. Now that you showed me this, it has tainted my mind on the knife. The knife has been in my pocket for a week straight. As a matter of fact I took out of my rotation the Joker knife. Wish I hadn’t liked it so much now, knowing what I know.
home depot has the 2 for one milwaukee utl knives deal going for 14 i think? costco has the leatherman tool for 29 or 39 I think? as for the folding knife, i get more use out of the milwaukee during the day then a folder knife like that or benchmade etc, for now. Also fixed blade more useful to me.
I like the Gordon. Leatherman’s patent expired so it is fair game. I own a Charge and a Wave and the Gordon compares favorably to both. I’ve replaced my hated SOG with it on my desk at work. Why do I hate the SOG? I hate having to open the covers on the inside tools to deploy them. I hate that so much that I donated mine to habitat for humanity. Maybe it’ll get some good use while not irritating me. Love the deploying mechanism on the SOG pliers of course.
The locking flex head set swings wayyyy above it's weight. The ability to turn it into a t handle has been handy more times than I can count working on instrumentation at work.
At 21:13 you say you could never support Harborfreight, yet you certainly have by giving them money for the items you have shown in this video. Not to mention you are also making a pretty dam good video advertisement for them showing off all the “good edc items” they have. Which will inevitably lead a few people to go make purchases from there. So in fact you really are supporting them. Just as I am supporting your creation of this video by commenting on it and interacting with the algorithm. Which is why I actually decided to even speak about what you said because I duck with this channel and you! Just thought I’d call that to your attention, and also boost the algo. Have a good day and keep giving us such awesome content.
I guess to elaborate on what I meant is that, yes, buying the knife and multi-tool is directly supporting them by putting cash in their proverbial pocket but, on the other hand, I do not condone what they do. I've remained staunchly against brands that rip off designs from the very beginning.
@@BestDamnEDC I see. Yeah I know you’ve always stood against knock off brands and those who rip off other peoples designs. I agree with you on that 100%. I wasn’t “calling you out” in anyways shape or form. I literally only even said what I said because it was a thought I had, and it gave me a chance to interact with the video and boost its place in the algorithm. Btw I’m geeked that you actually responded to my comment. I can’t wait to run into you at a show or something. lol. When I do excuse the low key star struck teenage girl that may pop its head out, so to speak, at first. lol. I’ve been watching your videos for years and really take your advice and guidance to heart when looking for or thinking of purchasing some new thing. I legit search “best dam edc …” and enter whatever I’m thinking if buying to see if you’ve reviewed it or have a video on it at all. Ive never been steered wrong when following your advice on gear. So keep bringing em to us and we’ll keep watching.
@@BestDamnEDC Leatherman's not being ripped off ( I have two myself ) their patent reached EOL and now it's opened to competitors; Just like Bayer's patent on aspirin or Tylenol is. Leatherman can either change and get a patent, or they can drop their price to meet or beat the competition .
Just thought I'd say the Gordon tool is definitely not the first clone of a leatherman wave. Although it may be the closest, especially with the bits. There's sooo many Leatherman wave clones. But at $40? If you need a tool you can't really go wrong. Some cool stuff from Harbor Freight though!
Honestly I absolutely love the knock offs like that knife! It goes to show that EDC brands are blatantly overcharging us by extreme amounts simply for 'the brand' or whatever excuse they have. No knife is worth multiple hundreds of dollars, they're all made from a small piece of steel, and mass produced by machines. If someone can nearly match a luxury brand's product for less than a third of the price, I will always support that seller instead. Capitalism has gone too far in training people that 'you get what you pay for' means 'you need to spend a year's savings on a single item, no matter what that item is' which is gross. If we can show big brands that we dont want their products for the prices they charge, then they will either adjust their price, or go out of business from competition, which is a good thing.
I sorta agree with you but many times, those luxury items cost so much because they were the first to design and bring to the market a product. China just copies.
@@BestDamnEDC I've searched a lot of sites and the best I've seen the glimpse for is $79.00. That's $30 more than the Icon. Can you provide a link to any site that has them for close to the Icon price? I really like the Icon but would love to compare it to the Glimpse if I could get one in the same ballpark price. Thanks and good video.
When I have the money(not all that often) I buy the real deal. I very much like the harbor freight tools. I have many of them. I do like Benchmade knives, and gear wrench ratchets and wrenches. But I can’t make it ok to pay that much every time I want or need something in a pinch. Harbor freight has reasonable tools for a great price. I buy from them when I need to and don’t feel bad at all. When I can afford better, I get better.
I started my career in 1984 - I bought all Snap On tools . I retired in 2020 - I still have all my original tools . I wonder if anyone will ever be able to say the same about Harbor Freight .
I’m a machinist so I’m actually on the shop floor, I pay for snap-on but my edc stuff is the icon and the Gordon tools from now on. The guys in the office care more about the leather man, and benchmade or begg knives/steel craft branding and cheap out on tools/don’t care about ratchets
Think their products are good for people who are starting their EDC journey. The MultiTool seems to be a good choice @ #39.99 instead of $119.95. P.S. Did you ever get the stickers I sent?
Of course they told you no. They don't want you to know that you're overpaying for the same low cost knife that even 2 separate companies can profit from it
@@BestDamnEDC ahh I didn't know that I just figured they didn't want to point people towards the Begg since there was one at a more comparable price guess not though
So I feel like an idiot now. Well, more than normal 😂 But I didnt know about the original Begg knives version of the Icon knife. The only reason I was in HF to begin with was to get the ratchet and bit set and I just happened to see the knife hanging there. Blew my mind to see a knife like that in HF. Im on my second one now because my buddy liked it so much, he bought my original. But I could have sworn the first one had a different style pocket clip because the replacement one I picked up gives up one hell of a fight trying to get it out of my pocket and has a very audible snap from the clip hitting the handle when it finally comes out of my pocket and the first one I had didnt. But I cant remember for sure and dude can never seem to remember to send me a picture of his to compare and I dont see him often unfortunately.
Best part about ICON imo is the lifetime warranty, no questions asked.
ICON and Hercules are probably the only two brands I feel confident in buying at HF.
Pittsburg stuff is also lifetime warranty and not overpriced like icon

Lowes carries concave blades made by kobalt, an in-between hook and straight blade. Also homedepot carries serrated straight blades made by husky
Great video. If you like the icon compact tool kit you should check out the wiha go boxes they are $30 and are way better than the icon.
Mini utility knives are great in retail jobs where you frequently have to open boxes.
What did hey say just before ‘just kidding’ when he pulled out the multi-tool?
I Was Lookin At The Blue Trays 🤙🏻 Thank You
Gerber EAB light is still the best especially for price. It’s small and it has a lot of blade showing. Great utility knife.
Before you put DirtyBird away for the winter maybe you could make a video for us! Sweet Trans Am!
I can't say I feel great about ordering the gordon but I'm happy I can afford (in essence) a wave
New Vaer GMT watch?
All the HF hand tools are lifetime warranty as long as they aren't digital. So you can just go in and swap out your rachet bit driver.
That small palm ratcheting Doyle screwdriver is a generic Klein. I’ve never owned Doyle but looks nice
Amazon has the SOG power pint for around the same price as that Gordon.
God Bless the Harbor Freight
Usually when harbor freight copies a designs it’s because the patents on it are available for licensing or something similar
The Mac knife was an Almar sere. Very important part of what lead us all here.
With coupons, I bought the ICON knife and the Wave copy for $32 each!
The Doyle ratcheting stubby is almost identical to the Klein Tools ratcheting stubby
I’ve been trying to think of an original comment but I can’t think of anything. Love the channel.
Thanks for your support!
How unoriginal…
/s 😉
Except the Mini Glimpse and the Icon are basically the same price…
@@BestDamnEDC Ah well then that isnt ideal. If the price is more reasonable than a big brand's then I'm all for it.
Good thing about icon is lifetime warranty so you get them replaced if there a fail in the tool
Taylor, you should try out the Hinderer Investigator Pen
I've had one for years
@@BestDamnEDC Oh cool, How is it? I was thinking about buying a Battlefield Pickup Copper one
The quality to price on tools is shrinking. 90’s snap on quality is today’s Pittsburg/Telkton/ICON.
I started my career in 1984 - I bought all Snap On tools . I retired in 2020 - I still have all my original tools . I wonder if anyone will ever be able to say the same about Harbor Freight .
Quantum rechargeable pen light. To be considered for EDC.
You should’ve picked up the gold ratchet
Like what Max said on his video let's see if they come out with bit set for their leathetman clone multitool
I haven’t seen your videos in a while , Taylor got swole!
What does EDC stand for?
Every Day Carry.
The cheap tools are good budget backups. It's good to have redundancies.
What is wrong with Coast Flashlights?
I’m a machinist so I’m actually on the shop floor, I pay for snap-on but my edc stuff is the icon and the Gordon tools from now on.
The guys in the office care more about the leather man, and benchmade or begg knives/steel craft branding and cheap out on tools/don’t care about ratchets
I use the trays as valets at work and home.
You need those hook blades for changing golf grips :)
I wouldn't know
@@BestDamnEDC I would 😜
There is another knife harbor freight sells and it looks like the gerber paraframe
Affordable tools, what's not to like? Especially in this economy.
Hook blades for roofing
@5:22 i dont like right pocket for knife... i use my left hand...
Always carry your knife with the blade against the seam of your pants. If you can’t move the clip, put it in the other pocket
Hft and icon are the brands that get ripped on for stealing or copying yet literally every tool company copies each other. Doesn’t matter to me
The issue with the multitool is I can usually find used leathermans around 40$ pretty regularly !
Think their products are good for people who are starting their EDC journey. The MultiTool seems to be a good choice @ #39.99 instead of $119.95. P.S. Did you ever get the stickers I sent?
Of course they told you no. They don't want you to know that you're overpaying for the same low cost knife that even 2 separate companies can profit from it
Hook blades are good for cutting zip ties.
I dont mind a "clone" knife If i know im going to actually use it or its going to be a loaner. Its a tool box knife that will get scuffed.
I bet the compare didn't change because of backlash or something I bet it changed because Begg came out with the budget version
The budget Mini Glimpse was out well before the Icon knife
You would lose that bet.
I wouldn’t buy any tools from harbor freight but the storage solution and tray is cool.
ill keep my 13buck OTF scalpel.
