It is worth noting that the bouncing VDI numbers on the manticore and equinox are themselves an indicator of a trash item. Im not saying don’t dig but I was calling trash as soon as I saw the bouncing VDI and heard impure tones. When I was young I dug everything! Now my back is killing me to the point that I can only dig sure things. I might risk it if it’s deep and possibly silver (80’s + VDI) or if the area has produced old or valuable targets already. Great video!!!!
This comparison vid was exactly the real life field testing that I wanted to see. Digging the nail was very reassuring that no matter which machine you are using there is always the possibility it is trash.
Thanks for the comparison of real unknown targets. This takes time and I for one appreciate it. My choice was the 900 (just got it) and it performed just fine.
Took my Manticore out for the 1st time on Saturday and ran the high conductor program in a park I’ve hammered and did very well !! That machine handles EMI like a champ !!
Go to 27:30: Nail. Notice that the Manticore VDI range is huge from the 30's to 90's, and you said that there was a faint Target Trace, where was the Target Trace plotting? The Deus II had a narrow VDI range 86 to 90. Go to 32:50: V-shaped artifact. The Manticore Target Trace shows a vertical plot in the ferrous region. Did you notice that the plot began at the top of the ferrous region and moved downward? If you're using Auto Ground Balance, it's possible that the detector is adjusting your weaker signals into the Ground Balance range. The more times that you sweep over a weak signaling target with Auto Ground Balance, the likelihood of a weak signal target VDI changing increases. Note in low light, lower the Manticore display back light, so the video camera is not washed out. I enjoy these types of videos, thanks!
Yes I did notice the plots and while they do mean something, I don't have enough time on it yet to notice specific patterns for specific targets. Coins on edge will show something interesting too. Sorry for the light issue, I could not tell at the time of recording.
Like the Live dig Comparison that is pretty cool .. Thanks for your time to do this. All 3 detectors are pretty good detectors from what I am seeing and hearing.. Peace ..
Thanks for taking the time to compare. Interesting responses. That pinpointer of yours sounds too much like a dentist's drill - reminds me of my last filling :)
All very close machines, in my observations the Manticore seems a little better on identifying targets with better audio. The Deus 2 and Nox 900, equal on performance. You cant go wrong with any of them. Thanks for the video, very good comparison.
Hey about Shovels, Spades and Trowels. A shovel has a wide blade with turned up sides for shovelling coal, gravel, grain, snow etc. A Spade is what you use for digging holes. A trowel is a small Spade but also is curved to dig and shovel on a small scale. Nice to see target comparisons. 👍
a couple things I would like to point out. 1. when you stomp the ground it will sometimes change the Halo and give a better or worse reading it is a trick to do before digging. 2. I would use the XY screen on the Deus and the pull tab will not fool you near as much. Anytime you have to chase a target it is iron.
This video just proves why I don’t use coin programs. What ever number it rings up at will still come through as long as you haven’t eliminated that out of your machine. Doesn’t mean it’s a coin. But you take the chance of missing something if there is iron in the hole. Just dig it all ! I’ve had some really bad signals be coins with iron
I must say I used your coin program on my 800 today because the property was so trashy. I think it helped me separate the coins from the trash. Most of the time I wouldn’t use that but it definitely helped today!
The Manticore is quickly gaining momentum as I understand it more. Its def my choice for the beach but the Deus 2 is still my choice for relic hunting. I'm not throwing shade on the 900, its right up there. I know I didn't answer the question but there are too many factors for me to make one decision. If my budget can only afford me the 900 thats what I'm getting or perhaps the Legend. If I was beach hunting more it would be the Manticore. Relic hunting Deus 2 especially in iron sites.
@@MentalMetal Tough as expected. The Deus 2 could take the top spot with its new two box deep... but it needs a smaller coil for the western states goldfields and flat bottom coil covers and I'm waiting for XP to realize we don't want a non cabled remote to coil interface. For me and most everybody else... the 900 would be an excellent choice as would be the Ledgend also. So the Manticore... as expected would probably be the hardest to give away!
A really interesting video. I have a D2. I’m looking at a Manticore but they seem to be so unstable and noisy. Now I know you can quieten them down by reducing sensitivity and using stability, but that is effectively making it as good as an Equinox 900 which seems to run a lot more stable without adjustments. So, I guess for me, the question is ……. Is the Manticore really worth the extra money? If anyone has any constructive comments please let me know. It’s a lot of money to part with and I’m genuinely asking for non biased advice. Thanks for sharing. Jason.
The Manticore with the update has made it a different machine IMO. Its very quiet and you can run the sensitivity up more than you could with the stock release. Is it worth the extra money? Compared to what? If you comparing to a Nox 800 or 900, I would say yes. You have a ton of configuration options that you just don't get with the NOX. That's my unbiased opinion. If you want another answer, give the guys from Fort Bedford a call. The Manticore has become my go to on the Beach and for coin shooting. I'm still enjoying my D2 for relics but its right up there with the D2. The D2 still has a slight advantage in the heavy iron. But add in the Manticore Stabiliser and Stabiliser filter, you can work through the iron just as good as any of them. It takes time to learn the machine. If you devote enough time you will master the Beast.
@@MentalMetal Thanks for the reply. I was comparing against the Nox900. In every video i have watched the only way to quieten the Manticore is to significantly lower the sensitivity and to increase the stabiliser and filter all of which are lowering the performance of the machine and making it no better than the Nox900 which costs considerably less and runs much more stable with factory presets. I had a Nox800 and the only thing i disliked was the build quality. Like most people i thought the Manticore would be a replacement for the CTX3030 but unfortunately not. i think ill go with the Nox900. cheers jason
I have that devils tongue, pretty crude welds on mine, but very unique. I'm afraid to use it too much, I may get really use to it and may not want to go back to the standards.
On 7 targets? :-) no.. Keep in mind I used a custom program in the 900 that makes the machine sound the way it did. I prefer that tone and the way it hits coins. I don't really have that yet on the Manticore. You would definitely need to look at more targets to pick a winner. Overall though I think the Manticore has them beat on depth. If you watched the last hole and even though it as spike or whatever, neither of the other 2 heard it. Just my 2 cents.
Nice video, good test between these 3 detectors, thanks a lot for that. After 11 years of Deus1, I intend to buy a new detector, of course the Deus2 is already at the top of my wish list, I could get it new for around 1250€ in the complete set XP DEUS II 22 FMF RC WSA II! That's a difference of around €750 compared to the Minelab Manticore, we offer the Equinox 900 for €1200, that's a big difference compared to the manticore at €2000 for both detectors, and I ask myself the legitimate question the Manticore versus the Deus2 and the Equinox 900 really worth the huge price difference between these two detectors? In your test, all three detectors seem to be pretty much on the same level, as far as I could understand from you, sorry, my English isn't very good, but it came across to me that all three were pretty much equally good in performance are, or am I seeing this wrong? Which detector is the best for you and what would you recommend? Now I hope you can help me with my decision to buy my new companion, thank you in advance and greetings from Germany.👍
This really isn't a this detector is better than the other. I just wanted you all to hear and see high conductors based on the machines ability to detect them. I think all 3 are great machines. The 2 at the top of my list are the Manticore and Deus 2. I have more time on the Deus 2 so naturally I would favor it but the Manticore is coming around and will probably be at the top eventually. A little bit off the subject. The master on the XP 2, I can’t seem to get the master into auto track ground balance. Can you make a video of doing this for me? Thanks.
I appreciate ur videos and im srry that I haven't commented in a awhile but im still upset about the Manticore price, im might be saving up for the Legend or the Nox 700
They are both balanced perfect. I hunted all day yesterday with the Manticore without having my arm in the cuff. The 900 feels 99% the same but I do like the grip better on the Manticore.
I would really love to see deus 1 and nox 800 included on these targets just curious if the new machines are finding targets the older ones don't. I am pretty confident my deus explorer se pro or nox800 would hit equivalently onall of them .trying to convince myself to get a new machine but seeing alot of gains to be honest
I would keep your 800 and D1, both very good machines, you might gain a little... but don't drop your cash just yet, those machines you have are top notch.
I have not seen a nickel with my deus in the wild other than 62. All pull tabs 6465. I noticed you noise cancel the mine labs but not the deus. You also skipped over the tid for the deus on several targets but not Minelab. Other than that, thanks for your efforts. Not a easy thing to do.
I have pulled nickels (some war nickels) at 64-65 depends on your soil. I didn't skip the noise cancel its one of the very first things I did with the Deus 2. As far as skipping, I didn't skip I was looking for a clean high conductor (repeatable tone) and you only saw the video where I cut in on a good signal when I found it. Believe me I walked around a lot until I found something worth showing. This wasn't an easy video to put together give the time I had to do it in. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
The D2 falses a bit too. I still dig a lot of nails w/it but I def feel its better in the thick iron deposits. The couch shopping is over thankfully :-)
First target with the Deus II was a 64 - 65, I said that is not a nickel, you called it a nickel. When a 65 shows up, it's never a nickel. And most of your targets the Minelab detector numbers were all over the place when the Deus II numbers were very close together. I think the Deus II won, with the VID numbers being so close together and I "me" being a Deus II user called all the trash targets, and the dimes, I would have dug, they were around 90-91, those are copper pennies or dimes. One thing I like about my Deus II, most targets the numbers are close together. Even deep targets the numbers are close together. Minelab numbers are very jumpy. I'm digging coins two or three inches deeper than my Garrett pinpointer.
You seem to be pretty sold on your D2 Harry thats pretty apparent. I've been reading your comments and the edited ones. Here is what you don't know about my soil conditions, a war nickel has run up 64-65 which is why I was considering it to be a nickel and I will ALWAYS dig those signals. Been fooled many times. There is no absolutes to these machines as you should know. Even a really crappy signal with a target ID jumping all over the place can produce a silver coin. If you are just going by numbers then you are missing a bunch of coins my friend. I've enjoyed using all 3 of these machines for different reasons. They all have their strengths and weaknesses IMO and I hold no bias towards any one of them I'm just presenting what what I see and hear.
I think the Deus II is better. Minelab's numbers were all over the place compared to the Deus II. In the beginning when he was usning the Deus II, and called it a nickel he was mistaken. When a 65 shows up, it's never a nickel, it's most always a pull tab. 62-64 is the nickel range. From what I watched, the Deus II did much better. I sold my NOX 800 after using my Deus II for a couple months. I have found a lot of silver coins with the Deus II that my NOX 800 passed over.
@Harry I can say the same thing about the D2 and my 800 but I also had the same experience with the original Deus to the Nox 800 on the same permission and now I'm having a similar experience with the Manticore on the same permission.. its all a big game of chance and the fact that we tend to dig more up with a new machine because we don't know it and we aren't signal biased yet.
Hey guys thanks for watching and If could get you to give this video a thumbs up I would appreciate it. The goal is 200 likes. Thank you!

They all have their strengths and weaknesses IMO and I hold no bias towards any one of them I'm just presenting what what I see and hear.
ya all 3 look good together the best of the best .still keeping my D2 .Not really seeing a big difference in the 3
Thanks Ralph I think you will over time. There are some things I'm seeing in the Manticore that might be pulling it ahead.
You need a caddie for that kind of work LOL.
That would have been nice. It was a lot of work.
@@MentalMetal It is appreciated.
thank you!
For me still D2 wins
Its a great machine but like said this was not a competition video.
Deus has better tones
I think it all depends on what you prefer to hear. You can make the Deus sound very similar to a NOX

$4500 in Detectors and all you can find is $0.30? Pitiful.
.30 is only what I showed. :-)
LOL Good point.
Are you for real?
The coil needs to swing over a great target first. It is what it is Debbie downer. I thought the comparisons was good.
