I like doing an air test when I first get a detector. Even in the Instructions they put in run some object under the coil so you have a general Idea on what tones and numbers you want to look for.. Unless you want to get out and just start digging and learn that way. Thanks for taking time and making this video. Pretty neat stuff .
Thanks for the video, I was just able to get a manticore. Feels like I’m cheating on my Dues 2 but yet getting back to minelab roots. Lol. Have not ran it yet, actually pouring rain most days here in California. I’ll be out soon, can’t wait to figure this out
That's very very eye opening for me !!! I am a beach hunter only. So what got my attention is the arm off the sunglasses which most are made of stainless steel. All of my detectors can pick them and sound great. Stainless steel is a good metal to use for a substitute for gold items like pendants, charms , earrings for testing different detectors. Hopefully this was a all plastic arm instead of a stainless steel arm. My point is if it was stainless steel there is a good chance you might skip over some gold items also.
Thin silver comes in in low numbers thick gold comes in with high numbers. Its a combination of conduction and mass. Thats why the silver chain rings up in low numbers. In gold it would be a 1-3
Ballpark numbers? So it looks to me if it repeats dig it. Thanks, I'm sure the numbers will not change that much. It's another heads up for us guys that have not got our machine yet, so I appreciate your video, and I'll keep watching until mine gets here in the mail. And then I'll keep watching, every little bit of info helps. Thank you Scott.
Great video to understand how things paint. Looks like it will be pretty easy to ID bottle caps. The only thing missing that I wanted to see was a coin or ring on edge. How does the paint change?
with expensiv er metals, gold, or money, does the new minelab give a higher frequency pitch sound, is sound tone related to find / target ? ( love the videos )
If you found a hypodermic needle on the beach would you take it? Back in 1990, during Spring Break in Ft. Lauderdale, we found a big fat bag of weed tumbling in the surf.....we turned it in to the proper authorities of course....
I’ve sent two emails to Fort Bedford metal detectors in the past two weeks, asking them if I could get put on a waiting list for the minelab manticore. I have received no response from them. Are they on vacation or what’s the deal?
These tests help everyone learn their detector, nicely done. Tracking was on... Possible why the sunglasses part did not hit. I'll try it tonight on mine and see if there is a difference. 🧲(((💍
I will be very interested in the result. Also would like to hear a complete/part beer can...they tend to jump around like some other items. I am a little disappointed of how much variance you get with the VDI's. My Equinox 800 only normally varies 1-2 numbers on good targets. Also, at my beach the Surf/Saltwater setting (without manipulating any sub settings) gave me the strongest signals even in dry sand compared to general, low conductors, and deep settings.
Thanks for the message Lloyd keep in mind these are air tests and the numbers tend to jump more in my garage with all the EMI around I don't think they jump that much in the ground unless you have a lot of targets under the coil and the 2D map should help you see that.
Very informative, just got my Manticore, got it all charged up, heading to the beach this week,,wish me luck
Good luck!
So how was it did u find anything good
Thanks Scott. That was interesting to see for sure.
Glad you enjoyed it
Gave you a like, but very envious of you, having the Manitcore,, I wish I had one,, some day. I watch all your stuff.
Cool, thanks!
Thanks for vid.
You bet

Thank you I totally agree but there are many out there who don't.
@@MentalMetal yeah I know. But I also know that when I air test a new detector I have better success ..lol

I've been waiting for this, so thanks. One thing, please say the numbers as well so the transcript records the numbers.
Thanks and thanks for pointing out the transcript thing, I never really thought about that.

I checked it again there was just a little bit of metal where they connect to the frame but they were mostly plastic. Thanks for watching!
@@MentalMetal thanks for checking that out...,👍👍

Thanks Harry your wait will soon be over I hope.
Thanks for the info, I've heard their starting to be shipped now, Can't wait to hit the beach! Great Info 👍
Hope you like it!

Sorry Mike that would be best demonstrated at the beach. Unfortunately I won't be there anytime soon to try it.
excellent info!!
Thanks for watching!

Yes and you can configure it to sound the way you want.

How much of the bag was left before you turned it in? :-) To answer your question about the needle, yes I would take it off the beach.
