Good tips. I have and use every one of these. I make around 300 plus videos per year for commercial clients. Neat video gets me out of a jam when there's noise, maybe gets ten uses per year. RX is in use on every voiceover as a plugin inside logic (yes you can do that) to spot and remove clicks and mouth noises. I switched to Color Finale for all my grading after being a very fanatical Core Melt Chromatic user. MotionVFX have the best tracking. Add Motion is my newest addition and it is good, but I would really like to have much more control over the amount of the end action, eg bump, bounce, elastic etc. They are all too exaggerated for corporate use, fine for fun stuff and cartoons, but I need to be able to dial the amount of the bump or bounce back so it is there but subtle.
Check out Tap5a Quick In-Out Animator | Free Final Cut Pro X Plugin ua-cam.com/video/_iOl1qCt6xs/v-deo.html He has a bunch of other little handy plugins that are super sweet and free!! I feel apple will come around and give up more control with keyframes - I'm hoping they will lean into the pro apps in the near future! Thanks for watching and the comment! Have a great rest of your day!
Thank you for such great information! I have Izotope Nectar Elements & I CANNOT get it to work as a plug-in in Final Cut (works fine in Logic). The Assistant “listens” for the audio I play, but it’s like it can’t hear it because it just does nothing. Am I doing something wrong? Any tips? 😬
Thanks! Since I made this video, izotope dropped support for Final Cut Pro. And I am having lots of issues with the plugin directly in the app. The stand alone editor does work nicely but it adds another step to the workflow. I may revisit it when they update the plugins to work natively again. Thanks for watching and the comment Oran!
Great video! I have the first four, just need a newer computer to fully handle them. For audio, I have Accusonus Era 5 subscription bundle currently. I’m now tempted to switch or at least find comparisons. And new sub here!
It's hard to find the plugins that actually help in the day to day to improve your workflow. But when you do find them, they make a huge difference! Thanks Marc for watching and the comment!

That motion tracking is ridiculous! A few clicks??? So is FCPX like an OS and there are a bunch of plugins (apps) that specialize in specific effects? Add motion and motion vfx look like a huge benefit for graphics and...motion 😅 nicely done. Anything like this that’s specific to premiere or Do I have to take it to After Affects? Going to check out the noise reducer since it is available for premiere. Thanks for this Rafael. It’s cool to see the technical side of things on other softwares.
Yes just a few clicks! MotionVFX has a great customizable pre builts. FCPx can do 3D animations as well, it's a bit more cumbersome but doable. Check out 3D Motion Tracker motionvfx.sjv.io/rafaelludwig Adobe Premiere introduced .mogrt files that work the same way as the motion VFX plugins. Excellent video dude, subscribed! Question - your opinion on Pixel film studios plugins? Using some at the moment. Not tried Motion VFX... How do they compare??
I used to buy Pixel FIlm, but MotionVFX products are created crafted with better care in my opinion - I stopped supporting PixelFilm after this article. www.motionvfx.com/page/how-to-make-money-on-violating-copyrights.html They may have changed their ways but it was a bit of a shady start. So the question always lingers for me. But if you find their products useful and speeds up your workflow there is no reason to stop using them. Thank you for the compliment and the comment Rosalinda!
@@RafaelLudwig oh dear oh dear.... This is not good. It is a difficult time for everyone when this sort of thing hits the fan. I have had very good tech support from Pixel and know nothing of programming. I will be thinking deeply on this. Your comments are much appreciated.
AddMotion looks like a game changer. I’ve been using Cinemagrade for about a year and I really love it. Makes color adjustments feel like Lightroom, which I love a lot.
I have used both cinemagrade and colorfinale- couldn’t get past the lack of precise controls - debating to do a video comparing the two - also, I wish light room had a vector scope - with colour I don’t like guessing
Hi rafael I’ve just come across your channel and just subscribed ,may I ask you one thing as I am always struggling Color grading which plugins do you recommend me to add in and am using free version of fcpx on my mac and I’ve just bought A7siii but I am really having trouble into Color grading on slog 3 thanks hope you reply me
I just picked up the FX3 camera, and have been playing with SLOG3, check out my video for Grading Log Footage. ua-cam.com/video/UYWFOimYFGA/v-deo.html it's a great place to start. I will make a follow up video talking about color correcting SLOG specifically. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Love your tutorials and the idea of "fixing it in camera." However, I would call it "shoot it right in the first place." For which I would recommend the book "Cinematography: Theory and Practice." It's all about getting it right in the camera so you have good footage to "finesse" in the color correction suite. Keep up the good work, enjoy your videos.;
When I made this video iZotope Rx7 was working in FCP on my Intel machine and still is. On M1 Macs it's not loading them in Final cut properly. But to answer your question, sometimes yes I am exporting the audio, then processing the audio in the Rx7 audio editor and then importing it in. But personally I do not like this workflow so I try to avoid it if I can. I hope iZotope brings back full native support for FCP. Thanks for watching and the question!
The only one that is still not fully M1 is the iZotope. The rest have been fully ported. I have not tried Pixel Studios, I am personally boycotting them as they have a sketchy practices past. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Neat Video is still being worked on for the M1 on Final Cut Pro. iZotope also is not native, It may never be ported last I checked. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Personally I like ColorFinale over CinemaGrade. I have used both, and find that the simplified controls are a bit too unpredictable for refinements, and it's a lot of guess work by eye. Especially if you don't have a properly calibrated monitor. Thanks for the suggestion though, I will make a colorfinale vs colorgrade video in the future. Thanks for watching and the question Ivan!
Most of they are compatible with M1, the two that are still waiting for official support for Final Cut Pro are Neat Video, last I read it will be a few more weeks, but it does work through rosetta. And the iZotope RX, which again work through Rosetta but not officially for M1 yet. Thanks for watching and the Question!
Thanks for making me poorer 😂 One if those videos when you’re glued till the end! I guess, after watching this, 2021 will be the year of the plugins! I’m using some free ones and can’t say I’m crazy about it. You know what they say when things are free 😄. Rafael, hope you had a nice Xmas and all the best for 2021, for you and your family. Thanks for teaching and inspiring us! 🙏🎉🎄🆙👍🥃🪄

These plug-ins look epic!! Most of them I never heard off until now. Thanks Rafael for sharing 👍🙂 But for now I will stay away from these tools and keep focusing on the basics. Since I’m a beginner I recognise buying these plugins won’t make me a better creator, but practise does. Still, I will keep this video in mind, perhaps I will be worthy in a few years during my journey 😇

Hi mate, I love your content, truly amazing work here. Concerning the first plugin you mention, what do you think about Motion add-on in Final Cut Pro? would it do the same job or is that plugin even better and easier? Just curious about your toughts on that =) thanks again for the dope stuff!
I im currently editing my dji mavic 2s footages on the macbook pro m1, 16ram and 1tb. Any time i move my footages to my time line to edit, the quality of the footages drops significantly!! So i can't edit or colour grade poor footages. Is it a codec problem? Can someone help?
I have Color Finale from days gone by but I believe Cinema Grade is far superior especially in the use of the UI. Denver Riddle did Color Finale and sold it off to the current owners and his Cinema Grade is far superior.
I have both, cinema grade drives me nuts, there are no fine control as it’s all sliders, and no masks or isolating to view on the scopes. It’s more like light room than DaVinci. I like the idea, but needs much improvement imo. Thanks for watching and the comment Martin!
FCPX-PlugIns > I have nearly $10K in FCPX/Motion5 VFX. MotionVFX is my Favorite, however I.M.O. > MotionVFX's DropZones are NO FUN to USE & do NOT behave as one would Expect. I presume they expect you to Compound Clip everything before using the DZ. When Scaling the Clip INSIDE the DropZone UP > at a Certain Point the Dimensions of the DropZone Exterior Dimensions are effected > things Go HayWacky at that Point (very frustrating) Also, eliminating MVFX's mCallouts' STEM can be Tricky & Timeconsuming FYI...
I agree! their plugins are not perfect, but vastly better then most of the others for FCPx. There are annoyances for sure, but the amount of time saved not having to create them from scratch on client projects is wroth it ;) I've also learned enough about motion to jump in and tweak the plugin to my needs. Thanks for watching and the comment!
There's no such thing as "MotionVFX Drop Zones" or "X Company Drop Zones" - a Drop Zone is a part of FCP and only FCP controls how it behaves, regardless of the plugin or the template that takes advantage of it. It's kind of unfortunate that Apple has introduced such a crappy workflow for Drop Zones but that's what we all (we = FCP editors) have to live with.
