- If you’re interested in getting a Phone Rebel case for your iPhone than in this video I’ll go over their new lineup of Gen 3 and Flex Series cases. I’ll talk about the design, build quality and strength of the MagSafe magnets on these cases and hopefully by the end of the video you’ll have a good idea on what type of case you’d be interested in getting for your iPhone 13 Pro or Pro Max.

Seems like the Gen 2 series magsafe cases had much stronger magnets??? That bummed me out a lot :-( Still looking for the most rugged case but with the strongest magsafe magnets (but not that case you tested last year that was missing the vertical magnet at the bottom of the ring of magsafe magnets.)
@@jsfbay1 sorry for the confusion on this review. Can’t correct my values after posting this video. But the phone rebel cases have much higher magnet readings than in this review. The real magnetic value of my phone Rebel flex series case is shown in the spigen phone case review I have and that’s the value you would expect in the other Rebel Gen 3 cases. Btw I will be coming out with a rugged iPhone case review sometime soon.
I have had the Original Rebel ( Flex ) for iphone 11.
This time i literally just bought the Rebel ( full protection ) for 13

Great review on the cases I love them both and I have them the flex has a great feel but the open sides are left to scratches. I love the Gen 3 I’ve the interchangeable buttons I got the ultra one and they are amazing. Thanks for the great content 🇮🇪😎👏
Just so ya know they have redesigned the buttons and the cases now come with the new CNC Aluminum buttons and also you can purchase different colors of the buttons themselves if you’d like to mix and match. They are no longer the fabric with glue but instead they press fit into the case. If you have the old buttons you can purchase the new ones however I’ve heard if you email them and have proof of purchase they will give you a set of the new buttons for free but and a huge BUT, that may have been for a limited time or something and I’m not entirely sure about it as I’ve only read comments of people saying they emailed the company and were taken care of. Regardless if you purchase a case from them as of right now it will come with the newly designed buttons. I just purchased one a few days ago and I’m loving it honestly! I wish I’d have bought one sooner.
Yes, I agree, the flex does leave oily smudges thats hard to clean. For that reason, I switched to the frosted gen 1 for my XS Max

I got the flex series case when it first launch in my old iPhone XR I’ve dropped it so many times like so many but one drop that was the biggest was I was working on my car with a polishing rotary machine and had my phone on the hood and it slid off onto the concrete and I thought it was done for but I picked it up and only thing that shattered was my screen protector so I 100% will only use their case for the rest of my iPhones
Can you do an update due to the buttons being ipdated
So the Rebel gen3 I’m getting tomorrow says metal buttons and hope they don’t flop in and out and made it better. They probably had so many people return their cases due to buttons popping out like that.

I find it hilarious that the cheap magsafe case he used for the demonstration is exactly the case I am using on my 14 pro right now 🤣. I am looking to get the rebel Gen 4 and I wanted something for reference since cases from Phone Rebel apparently are always late or delayed releases.
Great vids man. How's the magnet holding up in the frosted clear without magsafe since it will use the iphone magsafe? Can it stick to a magsafe charger or other magsafe accessories? Is the case too thick and make the magnet weak?
Thx! Yes, the non MagSafe frosted case is too thick to attach MagSafe accessories on it or charge it on a MagSafe charger. It would fall off. I’ve tried using a very slim nonmagsafe case in the past on my iPhone 12 and it didn’t work out well. It barely held…
Best style of reviews! Which would you recommend for use with a magnetic car mount? Magbak? Or rebel frosted gen 3? I like the looks of the frost better. But function wise, would i be better with the magbak? Or is the rebel gen 3 the best for magnetic car mounts?
In terms of strength I would go with the Magbak. I didn’t use the mag sticks when I tested it but it was stronger than my Rebel 2 at the time of testing it on my MagSafe stands and on a magnetic car mount. However, one thing I didn’t like about it was that it got dirty a lot easier than the Rebel 2 or 3.

Gen 3 Rebel is king. The Frosted is nice but Rebel just feels higher quality in hand.
Very weak one my gen 3 rebel the soft sides are no longer attached to the hard back and the whole case is flimssy after 9 months

Unless you’re very clumsy or just a freak accident, there would be no issues with the sides being exposed. Had mine for well over a year with zero issues
Yea had the original on my Iphone 11
The frosted Gen 3 just arrived yesterday for my Alpine Greeb 13 Pro and I am very pleasantly surprised. I love how it shows off the green via the frosted back but wish the grip was just a little better. I don’t find the bottom edge to be sharp like others say and all around a great case from Phone Rebel.
I do have FOMO not having picked up the Flex though. I imagine that would really show off the green but noticed it doesn’t have the shock guards in the inside like the Rebel and Frosted cases do though.

Thx! Honestly I liked both the flex series and frosted Gen 3 cases but I went with the flex series cause I enjoyed the naked feel with the sides of the iPhone exposed. I really like that slim grip but I’m still dealing with the fear of getting a dent or scratch on the side 😅 however I still haven’t 🤞

at the price i paid for my iphone 13 pro max, there is not enough protection on the flex, not for me

@@hardcore4476 yeah it’s a bummer that it holds only a small amount. However, I managed to fit three regular credit cards without any problem but after 3 you’ll definitely risk breaking the slots.

Sorry, I wouldn’t be of any help to answer that question since I don’t have spigen screen protector on my iPhone.
Most screen protectors are damn near identical. I’d say you’ll be good. Did you try it?

One question, is the black front material the same as the clear front material on the frosted version?
So the front/edges of the black frosted Gen 3 has a smoother plastic finish while the clear frosted Gen 3 has a more textured finish in the front. That’s the only difference I noticed between them.

Can the frosted gen 3 hold the magsafe battery pack?
Nope it won’t. You’ll have to get the frosted MagSafe Gen 3 case for any MagSafe acccessories.
I was really happy with the Frosted case since I received it six months ago. Today the case started cracking, like what happens to plastic after an extended period. Very disappointing. I do not recommend the Frosted case.
So did they weaken the magnets from gen 2 - 3? It’s even weaker than apples
Chad so I realized after I submitted this video I didn’t test the cases correcty with the probe. I should’ve flipped the probe for higher readings. Therefore, the tests turned out lower. I explained my mistake in a recent video when I went over the spigen cases. However even with these lower readings you can still get a pretty good idea of the strength of the MagSafe when comparing them to each other in this phone rebel review.
Is there a difference in microfiber back between flex series gen2 and rebel gen 3 aramid?
I believe you’re referring to the aramid fiber weave design on the back of them? They don’t have a microfiber back. However, no there wont be a difference from when I tested them out. The flex series on the other hand does have a microfiber finish on the inside of the case but the Rebel Gen 3 doesnt. Hope that explanation helps
@@T3CHUP thank you that answers the question. Yeah I thought so that aramid version of Gen3 rebel series did not have microfiber on the inside of the back in the case. Thanks for clarifying that.

I think what it makes this cases a winner is that who design them has lots of experience on dropping iPhones and that gives you a huge peace of mind hahaha
Yup, the founder is EverythingApplePro so he’s done a lot of drop tests with cases 😉
That’s what sold me! His drop tests with a lot of major players and his case performed excellent! Almost went with Mous until I seen his video.. That or Catalyst Executive looked great to! I was one the fence between Catalyst and phone rebel. PR coming tomorrow so we’ll see how it is..
I can’t decide between the frosted in black or the crystal in black.
Well if you’re OCD like me with constantly cleaning smudges or dust off the case I’d go with the frosted in black since the crystal case will make it more noticeable, but that’s just me 😉

It did tick me off a bit how many times you complained about the glued-on buttons when that's actually a feature!
The buttons are designed to be removable because you can purchase packs with different colors and materials like glossy red, matte orange, titanium etc.

Yes, if you own an iPhone 12 and want the strongest MagSafe on the back of your case then the Rebel gen 2 would be the best case. I did test it out in my Strongest iPhone Magsafe Case video here on this channel. You can check that video. However, I tested it with my iPhone 13 at the time since I couldn’t get my hands on the Gen 3 case but it’s just as good as the Gen 3 for the newer iPhones. And the grips good as well.👍
I bought the Rebel Gen 3. I’ve always used UAG Monarch or Lifeproof cases as I’m hard on phones. This Gen 3 Rebel seems flimsy and easy to break. I will give this a chance.

gen 3 case and flex are good ..but i prefer gen 3 .. using flex for almost 2 months but the fear of falling on sides is real ... should be xtra careful while using flex series..
Dropped my 13 PM in the flex series and suffered knicks in the stainless steel, switched back to my silicone apple now & still debating on if I wanna order a frosted case
However, the price of this protective cover is very high, nearly £28. 😜

Probably they did it so they could provide replacements for the buttons for longevity.
They updated the buttons. It’s now not a stick on.

They didn’t mold the buttons because you can swap out different colors for them.

I purchased the flex series. I love the feel of a naked 📱, but don’t want to risk my phone being seriously damaged.
