This is why stunt people need oscars.
Look up the Taurus Awards.
It's like the Oscars, but only for stunts.
Yeah. But they're treated as throw-away talent.
can't have a blue-collar job to a white-collar event I think.
Think it should be in the same night as the Oscars and emmys so that they realize them
Especially since it seems just as much art as sheer physicality! It deserves to be recognized just like costume design, make up, and effects!
So now anytime I watch Civil War I will mentally hear Gui screaming for his life in the Black Panther suit.
And also now we know when civil war black panther was superior. Because it was 99% him :D
Yeah, he is such a nice guy though.

11:57 I can personally tell you as someone who works in that business, the suits get absurdly sweaty. I once did a job as Chewbacca and the suit was made mostly of latex and yak fur. They had to have multiple suits so that the ones that had been worn could be cleaned out of all the sweat and the salt from said sweat that had dried out, but the air is trapped inside because of the latex, and so is the sweat. My hands got so puffy while wearing the suit, that once we took it off management made me sit and wait until the puffiness went away before I could leave every time just to make sure that it wasn’t something dangerous. Loved that job, loved the people, but the suit was extremely hard to in the conditions that I had.

@@iwantitpaintedblack the cheap cgi u meant must be from BP climax. In some other video these guys told that the cgi guys had to finish that part in few weeks and resulted in that.

While I totally get what he's saying, in my mind I think, he is also an actor and to have him throw up three times on a set from what is probably heat exhaustion and/or overexertion is no good, whose taking care of the stunt actors? Poor dude.
@@naurcho i think they take very good care of everyone but its just hard work under hard circumstances. Thats why they use trained guys like him instead of letting it the actor do himself. Sure throwing up a couple times is bad but the guys probaly know their limits pretty well. Like he said. They build them up for scene and rehearse it several weeks.
Round house -Peter Griffin.
I have no idea the shot that Black Panther jumped toward the bike was an actual stunt.
@@PugsyP Bro how often have you seen a guy in a black suit jump toward a bike? It doesn't look fake
i think they sped up the video in post for that scene because the physics looked so fake.
There's so much great stunt, model and makeup work today that doesn't get the appreciation it deserves, because it's hidden behind 10 layers of CG, compositing and fake lighting. It's a shame.
This reminds me of the stunt in Band of Brothers Niko mentioned (with the guy getting run over by a tank).
All the cuts ruined that stunt.
When he said Chris Evans is dope...I felt it, felt a deep connection
I feel so validated! I'm a classically trained dancer and I've always said I love fight scenes because I love choreography and its essentially a dance. Boom. Thank you Gui! Lol it feels good for a pro to acknowledge it haha
Have definitely seen dance background help other actors pick up stunt moves way quicker too - Summer Glau for example is pretty well known for the length of the sequences she can memorise, due to having a ballet background? And the background in cooperating with other bodies in movement while you dance helps.
My guess is that the increased haptic awareness also contributes? Dancers or gymnasts are trained to a fine awareness of where all of your body is at any moment, as well as practicing exact control over specific muscles, so that has surely got to translate well to stunting too?
@@anna_in_aotearoa3166 yeahper! We call that, "TBA" total body awareness.

The crew: This looks crazy! Must be CGI..
Gui: WE REHEARSED IT FOR A MONTH!!
Black Panther was way better in Civil War than he was in his own movie imo. Less CGI on the suit, more practical in general.
That's true for all the heroes. The Russo bros + their stunt team do a great job.
@@rogerjohnson2112 Ehr not true. Iron Man looked horrible, floating head syndrome, and they completely painted over the Spidey suit too, which was the worst Spidey CGI so far.
@@MythosFilmsYT it's difficult to have a practical Iron Man armour and make it look good and fluid practically, also Downey probably wouldn't want to wear a full practical suit. Tom Holland was cast and they started shooting in four days, which means they had no fittings and couldn't make a proper well fitting Spidey suit for Holland.

Finding Corridor Crew was one of the best things I've done on the internet, no lie. Ever since i started studying at uni i wasn't sure on my minors i wanted to choose, and was questioning why i was studying it in the first place. But after finding out about all this cool stuff in special effects, stunt work, cinematography and animation; Ive started falling in love with it. Ive spent countless days just putting on your videos on my TV in the background while i make little animations, or edit together shot films or play around with 3d models. Wanting to work in this industry; ive started finding vested interests in shit I should have found out long before i was 2 years into my bachelors. Even now im learning new thing all the time watching your videos
Cheers guys. You make this young guy more informed and happy each video. Keep it up x
Good for you my man!
Dig in and see what you can do. I was finding ways to sort of fake animation on some of the first drafting computers. This was when you could store your weeks work on a 5 1/2 inch floppy and your screen was just dark with green lines. Then one day Photoshop came along, Corel, Bryce, Poser, Rhinocerous, Autocad, Lightwave, Maya, 3DS Max, ...and it just keeps growing.
My life kind of took me in different directions but I've had some time doing advertising, TV promotions, video production, pretty much learning programs by clicking on stuff and seeing what happens.
Gui is so awesome to listen to, you should invite him more often
This makes me appreciate the Marvel movies even more!
When Gui said he had never been on a magic carpet I just couldn’t stop thinking how excited he must’ve been to step into a whole new world of stunts....... lolgetit?
Aw maaaan!! You didn't talk about the knife fight in Winter Soldier! Missed opportunity!
I think they already reacted that one
Black panther is not in that scene so he maybe wasn't present to check it out.
So we back in the mine,
It's well choreographed but not well shot. So I don't understand how that's great?
Im sure they wanted to focus on Gui's scenes to show him respect for his work.
“This knife has made me rethink about my life choices”😂😂😂💀
That actually lip synced pretty good I think
Jeez, I had no clue so many practical effects were used for Civil War and The Winter Soldier! I have an even deeper respect for stuntmen than I do now!
I knew there was a reason it felt so grounded
They say wiggly woos in Wandavision!!!
There's a reason Civil War Black Panther was cooler than Black Panther Black Panther.
Suit looks better, CGI is used alongside practical effects making every shot look so much more believable. That goes for every other character in CW too. Except Iron Man's floating head at the airport.
+T wrist N what’s funny about the floating head thing is that RDJ was actually wearing that chest piece but the only difference was that the pre cgi the chest piece is missing an a few inches on the collar bone area. Goes to show how keen our eyes are noticing slight discrepancies
Such a shame since Ryan Coogler just did Creed with awesome fights before Black Panther. Marvel really need to chill when it comes to CGI “enhancements”.
I love the CW Panther suit so much, and I was SO disappointed when they swapped it out for what basically looked like a black morph suit. And the new suit really didn't have to look as bad as it did, you guys remember the trailer shot of T'challa walking towards the camera with the sunset in the background? And then they completely pasted the CG suit over him in the final movie? AND IT LOOKED SO MUCH WORSE THAN IN THE TRAILER. Like, CGI is great and it can do a lot of things, but it SHOULDN'T do things that can be achieved in camera.
Yea the suit to me looked so much more badass
THANKS!! I hope they change that in BP2! Fighting scenes in BP was awful!
That guy is such a mood! Seriously, falling asleep on Marvel movie set while playing in a scene next to Captain America and Tony Stark. Such a cool thing to add to CV... Also, a badass. Just...
